Ducky

Ducky is a 4-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Lab mix in Jackson , MI, who needs $2,000 for TPLO.

Jackson, MI

My precious Ducky was adopted from the Huron Valley Humane Society 4 years ago. She was the missing piece to our family! She earned her name within minutes of being home, diving head first into her water dish and splashing around, soaking the entire kitchen. I immediately knew: She's a Duck! Since then, she has proven her name over and over. Ducky loves her swimming pool, her cow toy, her sister and her mom. She is definitely a mama's girl! She follows me wherever I go and expresses her love by placing her paw on my hand. She loves to snuggle and thinks she is a 73 pound lap dog. She is a couch hog, loves playing tug of war, and her favorite time of day is morning, when I finally wake up to pay attention to her. Ducky is such a special girl. Watching her run in circles, chasing her sister, Reese, has always brought me such joy. Seeing her wildly bounce around the yard makes me laugh and she is so vocal! She's always telling you exactly how she feels! Since her injury she has not been able to play and run like she did before. I miss seeing her enthusiasm for life. I can't wait until that spirit returns. Ducky has been diagnosed with a torn CCL. The only way to fix it is through surgery. Being prone to CCL injuries is a genetic condition. Because of this, she has torn the ligaments in both of her knees. The left knee will be fixed first, then the right will need to be done about 6 months later. The cost of this surgery is already hard to swallow. The fact that we will need to come up with the money twice makes it seem so out of reach. This surgery will allow Ducky to live a long and pain free life. My sweet, precious girl deserves that chance!

Prince

Prince is a 1-year-old Poodle in Kentwood, MI, who needs $2,000 for Surgery For a Femoral Fracture.

Kentwood, MI • Pet Tales Rescue

Prince was surrendered to Pet Tales Rescue not because of his behavior but due to a congenital anomaly – a dislocated hip. The breeder's expectations of perfection could not be met and he was no longer wanted. Through further diagnostics, the x-rays revealed not just a dislocated hip, but a severe fracture in the femur. "After a long day of endless phone calls to numerous specialists and surgical centers, many refused his case due to the injury being a week old." says Kathy "Finally, one hospital decided to take on the challenge and quoted us $4500." Prince has been suffering in agonizing pain for over a week, and the rescue team is desperate to get him the surgery he needs. He is the sweetest, gentlest boy you'd ever meet. Just celebrating his first birthday, he had already stolen the hearts of everyone who encountered him - humans and canines alike. Fortunately for him, luck came in the form of rescue and fortunate to have escaped a life of confinement and breeding. Once recovered and healed, he will make the best companion. Pet Tales Rescue was able to save Prince from his former life of breeding and neglect, but unfortunately his surgery and rehabilitation needs are expensive - far too much for them to bear on their own. They are a non-profit rescue who relies solely on the kindness of others through donations. Please consider a donation towards Prince’s medical care, and keep this sweet in your hearts as he prepares for surgery.

We rescued Potco from going to animal control after his mom bite his neck and the human owner didn't want to keep the puppies. Potco needed medical care for his neck which we provided even tho we never expected to adopt a dog. Potco has been a blessing and so loveable and playful. He lives in a house. Potco is a spunky little dog just full of love. He goes everywhere with us and even takes over the bed! He likes being outside or in the.car or just relaxing at home. So very easygoing about everything. He likes to hide his toys so the cat wwon'tttouch it which funny. Now cries and is pain. I want chance for him to live life again Potco makes me laugh crawling under the bed hiding chilling. He makes me smile on how he follows up around and loves the car ride. He's funny when he gets wet and will bark at the rain. He tries to be protective and bark when the door knocks but won't do any harm. He will wag his tail when he remembers you too cute Potco got hit by a ATV. We applied for carecredit and borrowed money for emergency vet in Grand cost of $1700 who was unable to put leg back in joint on hip. Noe he needs a FHO surgery to be able to walk and be free of pain. He can only drag his front around now hes in pain dail but still licks my hand. We are a low income family and can't afford to do this surgery. We want Potco the chance to walk again. We can show the vet bill as well as the estimate to repair. payments could be made at the vet. We just want him better. This is no way to.live

Sawyer

Sawyer is a 3-year-old German Shepard in Saginaw, MI, who needs $1,900 for TPLO Single Plating.

Saginaw, MI

Sawyer loves with her two brothers- a pitbull lab named Mac and grey pitbull named Fry. Her parents Katie and Dean just got her a human sister in September. Sawyer came into my life when I found an ad on Craigslist for a German Shepard puppy. I was in a horrible place. I had just been treated for cancer, and my fiancé had left me. Without finding Sawyer I wouldn’t be here. She saved my life. Sawyer is the most active and mischievous dog I have ever met. If she could run and play fetch all day long if she could. She is so obsessed with her Dad and follows him around all day. With me, her Ma she is fiercely protective. I always have to be in eyesight. She is sooo sweet and also fierce at the same time. Since her injury she doesn’t cuddle or run as much:( Life with Sawyer has always been interesting. She used to find the most weird places to hide things in the house. By far what comes to mind when I think of Sawyer is her “tossy”. This is the toy we play fetch with her with since she was a wee pup. We will wake up and it’s on our face. I will look down and it’s on my foot. She’s the cutest. Sawyer was taken to our local vet three or four times for limping. After an X-ray we went to a surgeon who let us know she had torn her ACL, and the surgery was going to be $3800. I was 8 months pregnant and we were in piles of debt. Now we have a 6 month old and I have not been able to save too much for the surgery. She is so active I fear without it she will get worse. We are a single income household as my husband is disabled and cannot work. I work full time, but with a new baby and mounting living costs, saving money is really hard. I know we all know that. If anyone could provide any help we would be forever grateful.

Moose

Moose is a five-year-old Great Pyrenees in Lansing, MI, who needs $2,000 for knee surgery.

Lansing, MI

Moose and his canine sister came to Jane E. and her family almost five years ago as puppies. "Their parents are livestock guardian dogs," Jane tells Waggle." He was the biggest puppy in his litter, and it wasn't long after he came to live with us that we realized his name needed to be Moose. He's always been a very laid-back dog and has always been the calm one." Moose became an instant and important member of the family. "Moose loves everyone in the house and even puts up with my granddaughter," Jane says. "He will definitely let us know if there's something outside we need to be concerned with. The only time he gets really excited is when it's time for him to eat - he loves his food! His favorite treats are peanut-butter-flavored dog cookies." But even though Moose is the mellow one, he recently ruptured a ligament in his back left knee. "We're not sure how it happened, but suspect either he slipped on ice in the yard or his sister was playing too rough," Jane says. Now Moose needs surgery to fix up his knee, but Jane is having a tough time coming up with all the money. "Moose is one of my family. I hate seeing him hobble around, knowing he's in pain. Unfortunately, I was not prepared for an emergency expense like knee surgery. Getting Moose healthy is my top priority right now," Jane says. Please help Moose stop hobbling and get back to his happy old self!

Tippy

Tippy is a 10-year-old Lab/American Bulldog Mix in Saginaw, MI, who needs $1,350 for a Mammory Tumor Removal.

Saginaw, MI

Our baby came into our life 10 years ago from an animal shelter. She is one of the most loving and affectionate dogs we have ever met. She is our protector and always shows emotional support in the time of need. My husband died in 2012 and she was my rock during that time. As she can sense when someone is sad. She snuggles and provides comfort. She has never really been in a cage and lives in home She loves to sleep near the door to notify us when we have guest or anyone is near our home. She loves nearly anyone she meets or comes into contact with. If you were to meet her nearly everyone loves her. She doesn't like to sleep by herself and always sleeps near the couch or bed. She provides the best hugs and snuggles. Due to the pandemic and job hours cut we don't have any extra funds to support our baby. To have our baby back to normal again would mean the world. To see her declining and no longer able to easily use the bathroom or eat is heartbreaking. She seems so helpless. She has been diagnosed with a mammory tumor in one of her nipples. She was seen at the Michigan State University Veterinary Medical Center with William Chung. It is nearly the size of a mini basketball. She is not able to move around due to it. It is starting to burst and needs to be removed. That is the procedure needed. Our baby is special because she can communicate very well without actually saying anything. She can sense emotion and mood and help to turn a bad day into a good one. Without her love and support there are times that I don't know if we would of made it through. When she wags her tail and slides across the floor she provides comedy for the family. She snuggles under covers as if she is human.

Zoey

Zoey is a 9-year-old Mix in Potterville, MI, who needs $1,500 for Double ear canal ablation.

Potterville, MI

Zoey came into our lives from a breeder that had too many babies and was just trying to find good homes. She was 7 weeks old when she came home❤️ currently she never leaves my side unless I'm going to work. I'm convinced she knows the difference between my work and play clothes and knows when she can go🙂 Zoey is my absolute best friend! I am a single mom of 2 teen girls that stay busy so she's my pal. She's just one of us girls! Whatever we do, Zoey does too. This past year I had minor surgery and she never left my side when I came home. She loves to go to PetSmart and meet me friends ❤️ she also recently lost her lifelong sister Allie to old age. Our hearts have been broken. Zoey loves to kayak!! It's our summertime adventure. She makes sure she's the captain of the ship every trip! She loves her toys❤️ she likes to play fetch only if it's indoors a and will jump in the water as soon as you get to the park! She has 2 human big sisters that she enjoys picking up from work and lounging with. Zoey suffers from severe allergies that I believe are in part caused by our housing. The allergies have caused chronic ear infections leading to her ear canals removed. The animal surgical center assured me that Zoey's quality of life will be amazing once she has the operation. She is currently in pain daily I cannot let her life this way any longer. I am a single working mom. I have been slowly saving for this surgery but unfortunately we are being asked to move. Our landlord decided not to renew our lease with short notice. Causing me to unexpectedly have to use the money I have saved for her.

Ginger

Ginger is a 7-year-old English Red Lab in Dimondale , MI, who needs $1,500 for TPLO surgery.

Dimondale, MI

I received Ginger as a Christmas present in 2013, the best present to date if you ask me! She is a 7 year old English Red Lab, she lives at home with me along with my twin brother. We live in a bi-level house so she has to go up and down stairs anytime she needs out to the bathroom, which has become harder ever since she hurt her leg. Ginger is the most loving companion and the best friend. She is the kind of dog that wants to be with you at all times! She would join me on our daily walks, car rides, she would even come to work with me if I would let her! Ginger loves bathes, swimming in our pond. She has about 4 different beds in the house because she loves to be wherever I am. She is the most cuddly and affectionate dog! I have had a lot of health issues these last couple of months as well as two unexpected surgeries that my parents have had to pay for out of pocket. Under these circumstances, I’m not left with much of an option but to ask for help. Ginger deserves a healthy, pain-free life. Lately, her quality of life has diminished. She can’t go on our daily walks without limping, she can’t get into the car without being lifted and she has been in pain doing normal activities like going outside to use the bathroom – especially because of the stairs in our bi-level house. Took her to the surgeon and discovered that she has a torn ACL (grade 4) will require right TPLO surgery. Ginger deserves a healthy, pain-free life and I want to do whatever I can to help give it to her! She has been nothing but loyal to me and brought happiness into our lives on even the hardest of days. She makes me smile in everything she does, the look she makes when I get into her treat cabinet. Whenever I’m vacuuming she thinks it’s a toy, she genuinely makes me so happy and can brighten my mood.

TOGO

TOGO is a 1-year-old Poochon in East Lansing , MI, who needs $1,500 for open internal fixation of femur.

East Lansing, MI

We have had the wonderful opportunity to have TOGO join our family since the April of this year. It was pretty heart warming for me and my wife to have him with us during the lockdowns when I was working as a resident physician responding to patients in Flint. TOGO brought a light to our life that we never expected and helped us get through the rough times everyone experienced. TOGO has lived with us ever since we brought him home in April. He is very playful and almost never barks at anyone and is extremely friendly. To us he is our little child since we don't have kids. He has been me and my wife's everything and we truly love him with all our hearts. I wanna bet that he has more toys than any pet that i've known. I am a resident physician and with my wife unemployed coming up with this much money is very challenging. I will do everything to get him better even if I have to sell my car and walk to work everyday TOGO jumped from a set of stairs and stumble down on his way down. When he got up, he was limping on his right rear leg. We took him to the ER which he was found to have a fracture of his distal femur. We have contacted the Animal Surgical Center of Michigan in Flint, MI and he requires surgical repair of this injury since it involves his growth plate TOGO is a big chewer and likes to chew on almost everything. He has almost made his way out our front door by chewing his way through it jk but almost. He loves other animals and is very friendly with everyone. He hates dry food and we cook for him doggie meals a few times a week. He loves to cuddle with us and his preference of seat is always out laps.

Sheba

Sheba is a 12-year-old Cane Corso Mix in Detroit, MI, who needs $2,700 for Caudectomy.

Detroit, MI

Sheba was a shelter dog that that came into our lives April 2008. We adopted her from Michigan Humane Society. Sheba is my only female and she governs my 5 yr old male Pitt Bull. Sheba has always been loving and affectionate. Sheba lives inside and will only sleep on soft beds. She also is food specific, love to chase squirrels, and doggie treats. Sheba was initially adopted to be a companion to our 3 yr old Rottweiler Romello. Romello was suffering from a deep depression after the sudden death of his same litter brother. Sheba gradually nursed our Rottie back to happiness. We then started calling Sheba,,,'SisterMom'. Sheba a.k.a. Sistermom has since then raised 2 other dogs. Sheba is loved by my 1, 2, and 9 yr old's who live w/us. My financial bracket lands me under poverty stricken. I am a single grandmother who now assists my daughter with her three children within my home. The vet had informed me at the time that the total cost for removal would well be in the thousands...I love my baby and Sheba was diagnosed with a cyst on her tail maybe 2-3 years ago that has grown tremendously in time. She was taken to the MHS in Westland, Michigan. Sheba is not in any pain, but she is now unable to move sometimes without losing her balance, falling down, and then losing her bladder (wetting ). She will take off running in the backyard or house and on her return stagger and then collapse. Queen Sheba monopolizes all dog toys. Whenever her or her brother's food bowls are empty she kicks them around like a hockey puck until I fill them. Sheba, aka 'Sistermom' has one more name that she answers to...and that is 'Poopie". I don't know why we started calling her that, but its's fitting; she is a big old baby. There have been stressful times and Sheba has been right on my side,

Rhino

Rhino is a 2-year-old Tri color Pit Bull in Battle Creek, MI, who needs $2,000 for Right TPLO Patella.

Battle Creek, MI

We got Rhino from a friend a year and a half ago. I consider him our Christmas gift. I didn’t want a dog to be honest due to bad experiences while growing up with animals. But my boyfriend talked me into it and I am very happy he did. I also have a cat that I have had for almost 5 years and him and Rhino play very well together. Rhino has his own bed, but if it was his choice would sleep in ours; he loves to cuddle. Rhino enjoys going for walks anywhere, or going for car rides when he can, and is loved by anyone that comes in contact with him. Most see him and are first intimidated due to his breed, and size then they get to see how loving he is. He loves to play fetch and loves his treats. He follows us everywhere. We have a lot of other financial responsibilities which makes it impossible to pay this large amount with less than a month before surgery and Rhino needs the surgery sooner than later before more damage is caused. Rhino has floating patella’s and so his knee caps move in and out of socket. He tore a ligament in the right back leg so he has to have surgery now. We have to give him anti-inflammatory meds every day so he can be somewhat active. Hate seeing him in so much pain, not able to walk then the meds make him so tired, and he does not want to play. The Vet is Animal Surgical Center in Flint, MI. Rhino and my cat Tigger love to play with each other, he loves to play outside and with anyone. He is the most loving dog. He is hyper when you pet him and his size makes it difficult because he throws his body around. He tries to bite the vacuum, hair dryer and lawn mower, so we have to keep him away when using any of these. He is growing out of the hyper stage and is listening more.
