Tank

Tank is a 2.5 year old Mix-Breed in Baltimore, MD, who needs $2,000 for CT Scan, Bronchoscopy, and Bronchoalveolar Lavage.

Baltimore, MD • Adopt A Homeless Animal Rescue

Tank’s story began at Prince George’s County Animal Control — a heartbreaking place for dogs like him. Because he’s a pit bull, Tank was marked for euthanasia, not because of anything he did wrong, but because of an outdated county ban that makes it illegal to own dogs like him. Our rescue stepped up on the day he was to be euthanized to put him in a safe and loving foster home. Tank was playing at his foster home when he suddenly collapsed. A specialist tried medicines that have not resolved his wheezing and coughing. The vet suspects pulmonary fibrosis, but there are other possible diagnoses, such as mucous plug, or resistant bacterial organism. He desperately needs a diagnosis so we can treat what is causing him so much distress. Tank is a sweet affectionate boy who loves to play. He struggles to play because it’s difficult for him to breathe. He is a loving pup who loves people and other dogs. He is only 2.5 years old and deserves a chance at a happily ever after. Tanks expenses have continued to mount and our small rescue is financially stressed. We have spent thousands at the emergency vet, at the specialist, and on medication for Tank. We need help getting to the next step to see what is truly wrong with this wonderful boy.

Cesar

Cesar is a 11 year old Shiba Inu in Essex, MD, who needs $2,000 for Surgery & Rehab.

Essex, MD

My dog is a multi-generational dog. He was originally my brother's dog and later became my mom's. After COVID, we were blessed with the opportunity for all of us to live together in a larger home. My husband, I and Cesar did not like each other, however my mom and brother told us we better make it work, lol. Our relationship grew and he is the child we never had. We became the alpha. Cesar is now a senior dog but has so much life left live. His breed suffers from horrible allergies. As a result, he scratched his retina. In addition, he tore his right acl knee and had surgery. He needs to have surgery on his left knee. Cesar gives what he receives. From outward appearances, he can seem bougie and aloof, but it is all part of his Shiba charm. His love is silent & loyal. He is the "Norm" of our community when no one remembers our name. And he is affectionately known as Brownie to my gma who suffers from dementia and can only ever remember him as Brownie, not Cesar. He has been the one constant in several years of loss (involving job loss, back to back familial deaths and illnesses) that we are still digging out of. As caregivers, to have him healthy would be a much needed break from the debilitating non stop cycle of heartbreak.

Kolby

Kolby is a 5 year old Yorkshire Terrier in Baltimore, MD, who needs $2,000 for TPLO(Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy).

Baltimore, MD

Hi everyone, my name is Sharmita, and I'm reaching out today for my fury son, Kolby. Kolby, emotional abused as a Yorkie puppy was rescued and became a part of our family at 4 months old. Since being with us, Kolby is now a sweet and high energy 5-year-old Yorkie. For years, he has brought so much love and joy into my life, and now, he need my help. Recently, Kolby was running around tge yard chasing rabbits and injured himself. He was diagnosed by Chesapeake Veterinarian Surgical Specialist with the following: [ ] Left cranial cruciate ligament injury. Which is equivalent to ACL tear in humans. [ ] Left medial patellar luxation which means a dislocate knee Kolby provides me with love, peace, joy and happiness. Kolby having these medical issues has impacted his daily activities of exercising, jumping, playing a gane of fetch severely and has caused him sadness, in a lot of pain and has severely limited his mobility. I have exhausted my personal savings and have reached out to multiple organizations, but I still have a significant financial gap to fill. This is a terrifying and stressful time, but I won't give up on Kolby. Any contribution you can make, no matter how small, will help us.

Auggie

Auggie is a 4 year old Pekingese in Nashville, TN, who needs $2,000 for Hemilaminectomy.

Nashville, TN

Auggie was in our lives before he was even born; we fostered his mother without knowing she was pregnant. Right after she was adopted, she had her litter of three pups -- we adopted Auggie and he still sees his canine mother and brothers on a regular basis! The Friday morning before Christmas, we woke to Auggie struggling to move. In fact, he couldn't stand, walk, or use his hind legs at all. We rushed him to Manchester Veterinary Services in Manchester, MD, where they confirmed the worst: Auggie was paralyzed from the waist down, and required immediate -- and expensive -- spinal surgery that day if he were to have even a chance of walking again. Auggie endears himself to everyone he meets, even those who say they don't like little dogs, "crusty" white dogs, ankle biters, or "yappy" pups. He loves meeting new people and pets wherever he goes, and he's the best snuggler anyone could ask for. And who couldn't love that adorable underbite! Spinal surgery is expensive. The neurosurgeon doesn't offer any options for paying in installments and requires full payment upfront. Being able to offset this cost and get Auggie healthy again would mean to the world to our family; things just aren't the same without him.

Biscuit

Biscuit is a 12 year old Yorkshire Terrier in Aberdeen, MD, who needs $2,000 for Perineal Hernia Surgery.

Aberdeen, MD

Biscuit was a gift for my children. I was able to purchase Biscuit as a gift from my late father, their grandfather. My now adult children were 10 years old at the time. They were both having a difficult time in school. I remember bringing Biscuit home. He changed their lives! He brought them and myself so much joy.! Biscuit still lives in the same loving home. He means so much to us. Biscuit is suffering from a sensitive condition. He was recently diagnosed with a perineal hernia. It is extremely painful for him, especially during elimination. ( He actually screams) He is currently medically comfortable. Biscuit needs a very expensive surgery to prevent further injury. The name of the surgery center is Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists, Hunt Valley, Maryland. Biscuit is special to us because he brings us all comfort. For my daughter, he keeps her company. For my son, he is like a best friend. For me, he reminds me of the love that my father gave to all of us. When I visited my dad, he would always ask, “How is Biscuit?” He is a loving dog who is kind to those who are kind. He is a strong protector despite his small stature. He is a barker, but loved! This surgery is necessary and was a sudden expense. Further injury can happen at anytime. The surgery is expensive. Euthanasia was an option presented. That would break our hearts in this season. Ironically this is my birthday season (Dec. 4th). The help would be a gift! 🎁

Thumpa

Thumpa is a 2 year old Boerboel in Baltimore , MD, who needs $2,000 for Dental Extraction.

Baltimore, MD

I came a cross Thumpa when I was still with my ex. He was the last pup they had and I fell in love with him so I got him. We been together since he was 6 weeks of age and he was a blessing because right before I got him I had to get rid of my Rottie because of my parents. I named him when he was still in his mother stomach…and when I saw him for the first time I knew he would live up to his name. Thumpa has a fractured molar and he had this for about a 6 months now. I have been trying to raise the money and it’s been difficult mainly because no wants to help. I have been trying to raise 4000 for his surgery and everyone thinks I’m insane because I’m trying to get him help. How would you like it if you was in pain and you couldn’t talk, nobody wants to help because it’s to much money. That’s what he is going through right now. He is not just an animal he is apart of my family and I would do anything to help him get fixed. So if you want to show him how much he is loved by people that don’t know him and still thinks that he is special then please help him out. I don’t know have a job so I can barely afford it as it is with me being on a fixed income. He helps me out when I go through my depression/ Anxiety or when my sciatic nerve damage starts acting up. I would really appreciate it if you could. A little bit goes a long way

Molly is a 8-year-old Pit Bull Border Collie Mix in Belcamp, MD, who needs $2,000 for Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy.

Belcamp, MD

Molly was brought into our lives after being rescued from an unsafe environment at just a few months old. Since then, she’s been a huge part of our family. Molly is now 8 years old, and acts like she’s still a puppy. Anyone who knows us or has met Molly would agree. She is the most gentle, loving pup you’ll ever know. She loves playing with her pitty brother, Major and her doggie cousins. Molly loves to cuddle and she is the best cuddler you could ever ask for. Mommy’s chair is her favorite place to lay, outside of our bed. She loves to give kisses! As soon as she meets someone, she will instantly bring you one of her toys & give you tons of kisses! She has so much sass and personality, and definitely knows how to put a smile on your face. Her squeaky toys are her favorite. Unfortunately, she is now restricted on her playtime. She’s restricted to having fun with her fur friends. During the last winter storm, Molly slipped on the and the vet diagnosed with a cranial cruciate ligament tear diagnosed with a cranial cruciate ligament tear ( she tore both tibial ligaments that are in her knee, that prevent her bones from moving around) in her right hind leg which requires TPLO (Tibial Plateau Level Osteotomy) surgery in order for her to have use of her right hind leg. My husband and I both work time, and our rent alone is a whole pay check. We could barely afford her consultation with the surgeon. She is currently residing with her “grandparents” due to their home being more accessible for her.

Jasmine is a 5-month-old Yorkshire Terrier in Randallstown, MD, who needs $1,100 for Orthopedic Surgery to Realign Growth Plate and Stabilize Tibia.

Randallstown, MD

I have always wanted a Yorkie. My former mother-in-law had one for years. A friend informed me about a coworker she knew who breed Yorkie. After purchasing the puppy they force me to get her at 6 weeks ( just found out I had COVID) or I would have lost the puppy and my money. Three weeks later my daughter needed help with her 3 1/2 year old daughter. I am struggling to now support us all. Jasmine was such an active little puppy. She is such a vibrant little dog. Within two weeks or coming to my home she was running up and down the steps. Her best friend is my mother's cat. They play and wrestle until the cat gets tired of her. She loves playing rough and going for runs and walks. My puppy is a joy to be around. Jasmine is not completely potty trained. I am stuck between giving attention to a 3 1/2 year older and Jasmine. Because she came to me at such an early age I had her in my bathroom near. She will go outside to pee but comes back to the bathroom to do a number 2. She use to love jumping. She figured out how get on the dining table and jump up on my high bed. My granddaughter grabbed her by the right leg picking her up. He her the puppy screaming then crying. She cried for about 25 minutes straight. Jasmine began hopping on three legs. I took her to the vet. She had a broken growth plate. The orthopedic surgeon stated she also has a hairline fracture along the tibia that must be surgically corrected. My heart breaks when I see my vibrant puppy restricted to her cage because I don't want her to cause more damage to her leg. I feel helpless. I am mad about my situation. I feel like I might have to surrender her so she can get treated. My heart breaks at that thought.

Luke is a 1-year-old Mixed Breed Dog in Frederica, DE, who needs $2,000 for Balloon Valvuloplasty.

Frederica, DE

Our family got Luke from the First State Animal Shelter and SPCA in March of 2022. The animal shelter told us he had heart issues which after adopting him, found out were much more severe than we were told. Luke was also stabbed in the eye by a previous owner and has since developed Glaucoma. He was being adopted out with his sister, Leia. Luke and Leia both got their names from Star Wars! Luke shares a room with Leia, where they have their own bed and blankets and toys and sleep together every night. Luke loves to chase Leia around the house, up and down the stairs, and in the backyard. Luke also gets tired easily and loves to nap snuggled up with his Mom and sometimes Dad on the couch. Luke also enjoys sun-bathing by the sliding glass doors. Luke is very much still afraid of the world but slowly learning to love it. He does not like going on walks around the neighborhood but prefers running around in open fields. He loves tug of war! Luke is also a really big love bug and loves to be around his parents no matter what they’re doing. Luke is super silly and gets crazy zoomies every time he goes potty. Luke is being treated at CVCA in Maryland for severe valvular pulmonic stenosis (PS) with supravavular narrowing. Moderately to severely dilated right atrial dimensions, Severe right ventricular hypertrophy (thickening of the heart muscle), Decreased left heart size with normal function. Luke also has glaucoma in his right eye that also needs treatment. We thought we were prepared for his heart expenses but did not anticipate him developing glaucoma so young. Having to pay for treatments and medications for both conditions has been difficult.

She was original surrender to Barcs shelter by Baltimore police because of a suspected drug ingestion by her former owners. She has not had an easy start to life and needs a second chance. She is the sweetest girl. She loves being around her humans and is the biggest cuddler. Her favorite thing is to sit on the couch and listen to music playing. She has become my shadow. She follows me wherever I go. Lucy loves her morning cuddles in bed and her morning walks chasing birds. She is a happy go lucky puppy full of life and curiosity. Lucy loves all her squeaky toys and her best friend that lives in our building. She could play with her all day everyday. She loves every person that walks past her and wants to say hi. She just wants to bring happiness to everyone’s life. Her little head tilts when you talk to her or when she listens to music just bring a smile to my face. my 4 month old puppy Lucy contracted leptospirosis and has been in the emergency vet ICU for 24 hours now. She currently has a feeding tube to help her get some nutrients. The leptospirosis has affected her kidneys, liver and platelets. The vets believe she will need to stay in the icu for 10 days.Lucy truly is a little fighter and deserves a chance at having a longer and happy life. Thank you This was a sudden illness that we unfortunately did not save for. As a 4 month old puppy you don’t expect them to get so I’ll so suddenly. Having Lucy back home with us would mean the world to us. Our home is not the same without her.

Lily

Lily is a 7-year-old Mixed Tabby in Baltimore, MD, who needs $2,000 for removal of all teeth due to Tooth Resorption Disease.

BALTIMORE, MD

Lily & her daughter, Monica, lived with my brother & his fiance at the time. They split up & my brother took them. Unfortunately, where he moved to he could not have cats. He asked me to take them. We are a huge cat lover family. I had just lost my 19 year old cat and had one other. I lost another one a year before that who was 12. I welcomed them both in to my family with open arms. I needed it. Lily is my love bug. She loves to lay on my lap. She loves her belly rubs & will take them whenever and wherever she can. Lily's daughter, Monica was just put down 3 months ago from kidney failure. We fought hard but there was nothing we could do for her. Lily missed her terribly. Lily has 4 other playmates to keep her happy now. A kitten we took in, 14yr old rescue and 2 feral kittens rescued. I am only 47 years old & I'm disabled. I only get $529/month in disability. It took 2 years to get that. My family helped me with Monica's vet bills which were over a $1,000. They are tapped out. I NEED HELP. I don't want my baby to suffer because I do not have the money. I noticed that Lily's bottom canine tooth was missing. I then began to notice she was having problems eating. Took her to our general vet, Dr. Jay at Abbey Animal Hospital. She was diagnosed with Tooth Resorption. It was so bad she was referred to Animal Dental Center. Dr. Tjepkema told me it is so bad all her teeth need to be removed & that she is so nice considering she has to be in severe pain. Lily went through the death of my Rocky, who was 18 years old when he passed, and her daughter Monica. She took both hard but soon a new family emerged with 4 new friends. Lily loves to play with them. She loves to chase her tail in the bath tub and she loves her laser pointer. She gets very excited when her monthly Kitnip box gets delivered. She is like a child on Christmas. So excited.

Bella is a 1-year-old Sporting Lucas Terrier in Baltimore, MD, who needs $2,000 for chemotherapy.

Baltimore, MD

My fur baby’s name is Bella 🐶🥰 and we reside in Baltimore, MD ✨ I’ve never owned any pets until now and I have completely fell in love with her. My best friend’s twin sister’s dog had a few puppies and she sent me pictures and videos of them, Bella instantly stood out to me. Her cute nose and big eyes had heart my in tight grip. I never knew she would change my life the way she did. Our household consists of Me, Bella, My S/O, my mom and 2 younger brothers. She sleeps in her own large fenced play pen area in the living room where she has the freedom to roam, eat, drink and play with her toys from time to time. She often is spoiled with sleeping in my bed or with my baby brother, who she loves so much. When Bella first became sick, I never knew it was to this extent. I haven’t felt right since the Doctor called me and told me the news. I lost my Dad to Leukemia in 2014 and to think I could lose my fur baby, hurts too. I miss her being her active, sassy and loving self. Bella became ill after her 1st birthday, May 4th 2021 and since then we have been in and out of the vet. She was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma at the beginning of July and it has been a hard pill to swallow since. I am looking to start treatment at Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists in Towson, MD where she will hopefully begin Chemotherapy and any other needed treatments. Bella was born on May 4, 2020 you know.. “May the 4th be with you” 😉Boy oh boy, is she a force to be reckon with. She races every single person to the couch if she sees you heading to the living room. Makes you laugh so hard as she zooms right past you with her tongue hanging out. Won’t even scoot once you’ve reached the couch, she flashes her big eyes, tongue out and rolls for belly rub 🤣🥰

Scout

Scout is a 1-year-old Coon Hound in Mechanicsburg, PA, who needs $2,000 for a broken leg.

Mechanicsburg, PA

We rescued Scout on March 13th. Scout was born in Kentucky and ended up in a kill shelter in NC likely due to trauma to his front leg/paw. Fortunately, a rescue in MD was able to find him and provide a foster. When we adopted this guy, we were told that the rescue would pay for his surgery to repair his injury, but they are now unable due to the cost of an arrival of sick pups from TX. Scout is now 10 months old and is an active, otherwise healthy puppy other than his leg. He loves to go for walks and go counter surfing. Scout loves our children as well as everyone in the neighborhood and they all love him too. Our neighbors from both ends have told us that he can hear his vocal chords quite often! Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists estimated that the surgery will cost between $5,000 and $7,000. We are willing to put in a sizable amount towards the surgery but are unable to fund the majority. We want poor Scout to be able to enjoy a normal, healthy life. Scout broke his front right leg/paw at a young age. This poor guy was given no medical attention which has led to a severe bowing of the leg and a fusion of the growth plate. He has been a patient at Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists in Townson, MD where he had a CT scan. He was also set for surgery on 5/26 before the adoption network had to withdraw funding. Scout is full of emotion. He loves to give hugs and is eager to be heard. He is very curious of odd noises such as that from a bread maker. He will stair for minutes on end at a sprinkler moving up and down. Scout also plays well with his four-legged buddy Blu, a young Chihuahua. He loves all dogs and is usually eager to show off.

Loki is a 2-year-old GSD/Blackmouth Cur in Glen Burnie, MD, who needs $2,000 for an MRI.

Glen Burnie, MD

I adopted Loki from Baltimore ASPCA in May of 2019. I had to undergo a prescreening evaluation because his previous family said that he was not good with their children and I am a single mother to a little boy. As you can see in his pictures, he is great with my son and ALL other children and people of all other ages that he meets. He is very attached to me especially after his first seizure that occurred in December of 2019. He goes with me absolutely everywhere. We are very active. He is off leash trained and absolutely loves swimming with his friends. He is my best friend and my sons best friend too. When my son is away, it is just Loki and I and we go on adventures and snuggle and he becomes my child. I am a single mother and the only provider within my home for myself and my son. I do not receive financial help. I have experienced extreme financial hardship due to the pandemic which includes having to use most of savings to prevent losing our home. Loki was diagnosed with Idiopathic Epilepsy in December of 2019 that was determined after he experienced a Grand Mal seizure. January 14th 2021. Loki had his second Grand Mal seizure that caused him to stop breathing and decreased HR until I was able to resuscitate him. He is in need of an MRI and has already been consulted by a Veterinary Neurologist. Loki is special because of the really silly things he does. He REFUSES to look into a camera and turns away anytime I try to sneak a selfie of us together. He will hide any socks he finds or bring it to you and put it in your lap hoping you'll chase him. He tries to eat the hose water when it is on blast. He is the biggest bed hog but he has to lay next to me at the top of the bed every night.
