Blanca
Blanca is a 6 year old American Pit Bull Terrier in Huntington, WV, who needs $300 for Diagnosis and Treatment.
Huntington, WV
Blanca has been my best friend for years and is a cherished member of my family. She lives with me and is deeply loved. She has always been loyal, loving, and by my side through everything. Blanca was treated for severe pancreatitis a few months ago at Ayers Animal Hospital by Dr. Ayers, and I went into debt to save her life. Now she is sick again with what appears to be a bladder or kidney issue and needs additional testing and treatment. I’m asking for help so she can get the care she needs. Blanca is the sweetest, most loyal dog and a true member of my family. She loves being close to me, follows me everywhere, and always knows how to make me smile. Her unconditional love has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life, and I can’t imagine life without her. A few months ago I went into debt to save Blanca’s life. Now she needs emergency care again, and I can’t afford another unexpected vet bill. Your support will help her get the treatment she needs and give us more time together.

Trixie
After Losing Her Person, Trixie Needs a Soft Place to Land
Huntington, WV • Bernies Buddies Rescue And Advocates
At 12 years old, Trixie never expected her world to change so dramatically. This sweet, shy tabby recently lost the person she loved most when her owner passed away. Suddenly, everything familiar was gone—her home, her routine, and the comfort of the person who had cared for her throughout her life. Trixie's family did everything they could to keep her, but with other cats, young children, and a busy household, it quickly became clear that the transition was overwhelming for this gentle senior girl. After a lifetime of quiet companionship, Trixie needed something different: peace, stability, and a calm place where she could feel safe again. That's when Bernies Buddies Animal Rescue stepped in. Now, Trixie is beginning the next chapter of her life, but she needs some help getting there. Before she can be matched with the loving retirement home she deserves, Trixie needs a full veterinary workup, including a wellness exam, updated vaccines, feline leukemia and FIV testing, microchipping, and a dental evaluation to ensure she is healthy and comfortable. And because every senior cat deserves a little extra pampering, we'd also love to provide Trixie with a cozy, fluffy bed where she can curl up, relax, and finally feel secure again. Trixie has already experienced so much loss and change. Together, we can make sure the rest of her story is filled with comfort, kindness, and love. Your donation will help cover Trixie's veterinary care and provide the essentials she needs as she settles into rescue and searches for her forever home. Please consider donating today to help this deserving senior girl enjoy the peaceful, spoiled retirement she has earned. Because after losing everything she knew, Trixie deserves a soft place to land. 6/30/26 Update: Trixie is settling in. Trixie was very shy when she came to us. After two vet appointments and a couple of car rides, we are allowing her to decompress. She is not ready for a partner rescue or adoption event just yet. She is settling in with some of our other senior cats. However, we would love to get this sweet senior into a foster. Trixie is a sweet girl who needs a quiet and patient home. We would like to thank everyone who has donated and given this lady a chance to settle in and find peace.

The Dragons Litter
Six Tiny Dragons Survived Abandonment—Now They Need Your Help to Thrive
Huntington, WV • Bernies Buddies Rescue And Advocates
What should have been a safe place became the scene of a heartbreaking tragedy. Under the cover of darkness, someone abandoned nine tiny kittens outside the Bernies Buddies Rescue & Advocates building. They were left loose and defenseless, with no food, no shelter, and no protection from the dangers around them. By the time anyone realized they had been dumped there, it was already too late for three of the kittens. They were struck by cars and tragically lost their lives. The six surviving kittens were immediately brought to the veterinarian for urgent care. Already facing the trauma of abandonment and the loss of their siblings, these little ones were found to be battling multiple health issues. They tested positive for coccidia, were covered in ticks, and were suffering from a painful skin infection. To help them recover, they have begun treatment and are currently taking three different medications. Despite everything they have endured, these kittens are fighting hard. We named them Caraxes, Dreamfyre, Seasmoke, Sunfyre, Syrax, and Vhagar after the dragons of \_House of the Dragon\_ because they have already shown incredible strength and resilience. But even the bravest little dragons need help. Their medical journey is not over. Once they complete treatment, they will need recheck examinations and follow-up fecal testing to ensure the infection has been completely eliminated. After that, they will still need vaccines, spay and neuter surgeries, and the ongoing veterinary care necessary to prepare them for loving forever homes. Bernies Buddies Rescue & Advocates stepped in when these kittens had nowhere else to turn, but caring for six sick kittens at once creates a significant financial burden. Your donation will help cover their medications, veterinary rechecks, diagnostic testing, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and continued care as they heal and grow. These six survivors have already overcome so much. With your support, we can honor the memory of the three siblings they lost and ensure that the remaining kittens get the happy future they deserve. Please donate today and help our little dragons spread their wings. 6/29/26 Update: We are on the home stretch The Dragons are looking good, and their stool is starting to appear normal. We are in the last week of their medications. We have started vaccines and deworming. Everyone is growing and learning to play and be kittens. Syrax and Dreamfyre's eye issues appear to be getting better with age. Caraxes also hurt his leg; however, the vet stated it was a soft tissue injury from playing too rough with his siblings, and he was given an injection. He is now acting normally with no issues. We can not wait to watch these sweethearts continue to grow.

Meara
Meara is a 9 Year Old Giant Schnauzer in Nitro, WV, Who Needs $1,300 for Excision of Mass.
Nitro
Meara showed up one day. She was matted, skinny and scared. I fed and bathed her and then took her to the shelter to look for a microchip. ( there was not one). She was extremely scared all the time and the believed she had been abused. It took alot of work to get her to trust me.-we worked with an aggression behavior specialist & worked at home. That was almost 9 years ago and we are inseparable. Meara went in for her wellness visit 2 weeks ago at Ayers Veterinary hospital and they discovered a small mass in the inside of the right ear. I have been watching it and sending pictures to the office. It has started to change appearance and is bleeding. Her vet, Dr. Metz is very worried about it and says that it needs to be surgically removed soon. Meara is my best friend. We are inseparable. She goes everywhere with me. She does not like being left alone and I don’t like leaving her. Because of her past abuse, she is extemely suspicious of people but she absolutely loves my sister. If we are outside and I tell her that Kelly is coming, she will sit down, look at the top of the road a&refuse to move. She is so loving and gentle with me. I have a lot of health problems and am on alot of meds which take a substantial amount of my monthly income. Meara does have insurance but there is a $500 and 20% coinsurance. Unfortunately the animal hospital will not bill her insurance, I have to pay the entire amount.

Maggie
Maggie is a 13-year-old Mixed Pit/Boxer in Huntington, WV, who needs $2,000 for Diagnosis and Treatment.
Huntington, WV
Maggie came to me by way of a family friend. She was too much energy for a little boy so she was give to my husband's daughter. As it turned out, she was not loving enough for her so "I" kept her for my daughter and eventually ended up with me. I had bonded to Maggie, and Maggie to me. I didn't expect cuddles much. I JUST LOVED HER THE WAY SHE WAS. She stayed by my side. If I slept in the bed, on the couch, or in a chair, she was there. If I was sick, she didn't leave. If I slept all day, she would be there, waiting on food and going without sometimes because I was too weak to get up. But she stayed. She didn't whine or bark. She simply stayed. If she was sick, I stayed with her. Simple friendship and love. Maggie just melts my heart. She signs just like me. I catch her all the time or so I did. I sing "You are my sunshine my only sunshine" to her and call her my baby girl because she is my heart. Maggie developed parvo no long after I got her. She stayed in the hospital for that and recovered well. She is spayed and had no puppies now she is sick. She is not eating much if at all. Lost a lot of weight. This has been rapid. She always been relatively healthy all her life. Until now. NOW, I'm worried. When I got Maggie, I had a job. My husband had a job. Now we are living on disability and I have to have a transplant soon. So my income is not where I would like. But life has a way of working out like this. I simply can't afford a large vet bill. She is my heart.

Sunny
Sunny is a 3-year-old Calico in Dingess, WV, who needs $1,000 for surgery.
dingess, WV
This is sunny. She's three years old and last night after two days of missing we heard her making noise outside like she was fighting with something. We were scared and ran outside and there was a coyote grabbing her by her leg and shaking her around. My boyfriend grabbed a rake and made the coyote run off. Sunny is the kindest, sweetest cat ever. I live in West Virginia and there are tons of coyotes so we keep her inside of course but two days ago she pushed open the screen to our window and escaped. We were worried sick; we have looked for her are are horrified by what happened. She doesn't deserve this because she's the kindest soul I've ever met and I can never forgive myself but she needs help. I'm a student who lives in a one bedroom loft, if I had to lose her even to get her some help it would kill me but I would do it because seeing her in pain is killing me. I have nothing to sell worth the price of the surgery and the humane society says they would put her down. Sunny has never had any medical problems before, I tried contacting every single vet within 3 hours of my home to found someone, anyone who can help with a payment plan but no one can. I tried care credit but I'm a student with student loans so I cannot get approved. I've begged and pleaded but no one will help me. Everything about her makes me smile and laugh and I'm scared to death to lose her. I would be willing to do anything in this world to not see her in pain, and it's completely my fault for owning a cat and not being able to help her if something happened. I'm a 22 year old college student and i never thought this would happen. I'm desperate.

Kilyan
Kilyan is a 1-year-old Pitbull in Milton, WV, who needs $2,000 to treat a palm pad injury.
Milton, WV • Safe Haven Foster Inc.
I got Kilyan as a foster. The owners were going to take him to the shelter at just 10 months old! I drove 8 hours to save him from the inevitable because he would have been put to sleep because he’s a pit mix. All it took was one look into his eyes & I knew he would be mine FUREVER! Kilyan weighed only 25lbs when I got him now he’s 45lbs & FULL of love. Definitely a mommy’s boy! Kilyan is MY child! We go on walks daily. He loves playing ball and snuggling up against his momma at night! He LOVES everyone that he’s introduced to! He adores my nieces and nephews! He is a HUGE lover. He LOVES other dogs & his foster sisters that come to stay for a little while! He’s truly a blessing and has come so far with LOVE, attention & affection! I own and operate a foster based rescue (pending 501(c)3) working non profit I do not have the income to cover his vet bills myself. Rescue work is hard. I have successfully saved over 72 dogs in just 4 months- most of them being pit mixes. I’m asking for help! One night around 10:30pm he was playing with another foster dog on the home and when I told them to calm down his front palm pad was sliced completely open & just hanging! I could not get the bleeding to stop. I made the decision to take him to a local ER Vet. He was then sedated to go in for surgery to stitch up his paw pad. When I first got Kilyan he was a little aggressive. He was used to fight other dogs and beat at such a young age of 10 months old. 😭 He knows he is safe now and is the happiest boy ever. He LOVES his squeaker balls, run, jump & play chase! I built a HUGE fenced in yard for him to play in (with supervision)... like I said he is MY CHILD! He is spoiled beyond belief!
