Keiki

Keiki is a 19-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Kirkland, WA, who needs $1,500 for Chronic Kidney Care Treatment.

Kirkland, WA

My darling, handsome boy had a rough start in life. He was found, by my nephew, in a cardboard box, with his litter mates, dumped on the beach in Oahu. My nephew kept him for several years, before tiring of Keiki. He abandoned this sweet boy at his mother's house where I was living for awhile. I fell in love with Keiki, advocated for his care & took him to live with me in my senior apartment. Keiki is my soulmate. We are so connected and never apart. I've always loved animals, but hadn't had a pet since my childhood dog in the 1970's. I felt I could never afford the costs. Keiki was unwanted and left twice in his life & never shown the love he deserved. I love him so deeply. He has filled a huge void in my lonely life left by the passing of my parents. Those I loved most are long gone My handsome boy is docile and would never hurt anyone. He is also personality plus, funny, quirky, still likes the laser light. He loves to look out my small apartment window and chatters when he sees a bird. I ask him "did you see the bird today?" and he goes right over to the window. He feels my emotions. When I was crying about a week ago over his recent health scare, he put his paw on my hand. Keiki has chronic kidney disease, which is a sad epidemic in cats. He also has hyperthyroidism which he has taken medicine for since diagnosed in 2019. That is under control, but the kidney disease progressed this summer after being fairly stable for a few years. Sept 1st he had blood in his urine. Vet said inflammation of the kidneys. Since then his reduced appetite has caused weight loss. I am a retired, radio DJ, San Francisco, Seattle. My radio work went away during the pandemic. I have a small pension/soc security. I loved entertaining for years and now need help. I cannot bear the thought of losing Keiki. My vet says he still has life left in him.

Piper

Piper is a 6-year-old Boxer Mix in Bothell, who needs $1,800 for Dental Canine Grade 2.

Bothell

I have had Piper since she was 7 months old. She’s apart of this family in a huge way. She comforts me when I need it and always knows when to cheer me up. She sleeps with me every night and we have our walks everyday. She always looks back to make sure I’m still with her. She brings a lot of comfort and security. Piper loves to play with her toys, she’s good at putting them away, mostly in my bed. She loves chewing on her tennis ball. When she’s in a snuggle mood she’ll lay right next to you. My kids love playing catch with her and sleeping with her. She goes out to the tennis court with them and runs around. Piper has always made things easier for me to make it through. I look at her and cuddle her and she makes it better. I want to make this better for her. She’s sad and that’s not okay. She makes me smile everyday. The first to greet me when I walk through the door. When I get up she’s always right next to me. Piper has a broken tooth that hurts her mouth. It needs to be extracted sooner than later. She isn’t really eating or drinking and doesn’t want to open her mouth a whole lot. She’s completely miserable and isn’t at her best. When I see the look she gives me and I feel helpless to do anything it kills me inside. Piper is being seen at Bothell Pet Hospital I work two jobs and I’m barely staying a float. Piper is everything to me, besides my boys. It breaks my heart not being able to help her. She’s such a sweet girl and usually so energetic and lately she doesn’t want to do anything.

Mama

Mama is a 11-year-old Rat Terrier in Covington, WA, who needs $1,500 for dental extractions.

Covington, WA

I had volunteered at a local animal shelter for 2 years. She had come in as a puppy rescued from a puppy mill. She touched my heart more than any dog had in the shelter and she ended up a foster fail. She’s very sweet but shy and emotionally sensitive because of her early years. Her poor teeth need to be extracted. She’s in pain and needs peace in her old age She’s been spoiled rotten her whole life with us. She’s always had dog friends that live with her. She loves to cuddle under blankets. She used to be high energy but now she spends most of her time sleeping and cuddling. She loves her people and being with us always. She currently has to eat soft foods and has been getting swollen in her face from her teeth occasionally She’s always been a bit different, I suspect from how she started life. She’s a natural at being an emotional therapy dog - if you’re crying, she will grip your face with her paws and lick away your tears. She is very empathetic. She’s very smart and is on voice commands. She quote a clown when she’s feeling spunky I tried to keep up with her dental needs but it got away from me over the years. She is now in pain and needs most of not all of them extracted. Her vet who will be performing the surgery is Bothell Pet Hospital in Washington state. Her mouth is preventing her from living a truly happy life in her senior years I’m currently unemployed due to my own medical disability and don’t have the funds to pay for the surgery. She’s in pain and it breaks my heart. I don’t want to put this off any longer

GeeGee

GeeGee is a 12-year-old Laso Apso/Terrier mix in Tacoma, WA, who needs $900 for dental treatment.

Tacoma, WA

I got Gee Gee from the humane society 7 years ago. She was 6 years old already and had been returned twice for not getting along with children. I loved her the minute I saw her. She was so well trained and just what I needed for a therapy dog. We bonded right away. We live in an apartment and go for frequent walks, GeeGee used to eat dry food but now eats only wet food because of her teeth. GeeGee sleeps on my bed with me at night always has since I brought her home. She has a ramp so she can get up on the bed. She doesn't like to play with toys at all, she likes to lick and chew on pillows and blankets. So we have all these little cubbies all over the house with pillows and blankets for her. I have saved up 450$ but the surgery is 1450$ I am on a very limited income each month, I can barely get by. I so badly want for GeeGee to have this surgery, I have been going without somethings just to save up each month but she needs the surgery soon. GeeGee is taking pain medication right now because her teeth are breaking. The Veterinarian at Avenue Veterinary Clinic in Tacoma Says GeeGee needs her teeth pulled. They will have to put her to sleep and do xrays, and pull her teeth. The surgery will help GeeGee feel much better and keep her from suffering and getting infections. GeeGee likes to go outside and will get very excited when you get her leash. If it's raining however she won't go outside, she hates to get wet. Giving her a bath is really easy though, shes so good. Sometimes GeeGee is more like a cat then a dog, she scratches the carpet to make a place to lay down and she gets along with cats better then dogs.
