Diego

Diego is a 7 year old Chihuahua in Maple Ridge , BC, who needs $2,000 for Maxillectomy.

Maple Ridge

I got Diego from a friend whose dog had puppies, and I was lucky enough to witness him being born. I’ve been with him since that very first moment, and he has been a part of my life ever since. His nickname is Ham, or Baby Ham. Diego has a best friend named Sage, our cat. Diego lives with my and my mom in our home that he has lived in his whole life. Diego, was recently diagnosed with a cancer called Ameloblastoma, located in the back area of his jaw. We are current clients of the Langley Animal Clinic, and our veterinarian there has referred us to Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital, where Dr. Lauren Brown will be overseeing his care and performing the surgery. He loves to hide under blankets and play hide-and-seek, especially when we say, “Where’s my Diego?” He howls whenever he hears a firetruck or ambulance, both in the house and while we’re driving. He absolutely loves cuddling, napping, and his favorite thing of all eating snacks. He loves his people so much and gets so excited whenever someone is about to come over. I’m 23 years old, a full-time student, and currently unemployed, living with my mom who’s on a fixed income. I’ve already exhausted my student loan and have no savings left. I recently paid out of pocket for Diego’s dental procedure, where they discovered his cancer.

Photo of Cake

Cake

Cake is a 8 year old American Polydactyl in Vancouver, BC, who needs $2,000 for Pleuroport and Lung Biopsy.

Vancouver

Cake was adopted from a farm as a kitten a year after we adopted his sister Marcie from a previous litter. They share their mother’s polydactyl gene, meaning they both have extra toes for their little mitten-shaped paws. They have lived happily together their entire lives, and my empty-nester mother now takes care of them as I have moved to a different city. My sister and I flew home after we got an emergency call from my mother when Cake suddenly had trouble breathing. The vet revealed liquid in his lung and found a mysterious lump. After weeks of procedures and testing, we were heartbroken to learn he has lung cancer. He now needs surgery at Boundary Bay Veterinary Hospital to place a pleuroport in his lung and to remove the mass. Cake is a gentle, playful, and beloved boy who has won over even the most skeptical —including our once cat-averse mom who now dotes on her cat children. He learned to sit on command, and always manages to escape the house to roll around in the grass. But most importantly, we are heartbroken at the thought of leaving his life-long best friend and sister Marcie alone if he does not get treatment. The mounting medical costs have already been taxing on my widowed mother, who lives off limited savings. These cats are her daily company since we moved far away. Saving Cake means Marcie keeps her beloved brother, relieve our financial stress, and keep our family whole.

Me and my fiancé I’ve had Mike Tyson since she was a kitten, she’s been in our lives for 8 years and means the world to us, she’s loved and cherished by so many people and she doesn’t deserve what she’s dealing with, she’s a sweet tuxedo cat with lots of love to give. Hello everyone my cat needs a cat-scan and a surgery to remove a large mass in her abdomen, it’s currently pressing on the rest of her organs making it hard to breath and causing fluid in the lungs, I need help with surgery mostly and partial catscan running upwards of 7-10k anything helps our fur baby reach her goal, the hospital is boundary bay animal hospital. Me and my fiancé have had her since a kitten and has been with us forever r 8 years, she is a part of the family and she has a lot of life left, our family and our friends that she interacts with be to sad to see her not get the help she needs. Me and my fiancé both work minimum wage jobs and can’t afford to spend upwards of $10,000 on our own. It would mean the world to us for our fur baby to live out the remainder of her life without being in pain.

Ruby

Ruby is a 7-year-old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier in Surrey, BC, who needs $2,000 for Percutaneous Transvenous Coil Embolism.

Surrey

Ruby has had our hearts for 7 years. When we found out she had been born on my beloved Grandma’s birthday I knew she was meant to be ours. She came to us at 8 weeks old and has made our lives better every day since. Ruby’s favourite person in the world is her Grandma Betty who in Ruby’s opinion lives too far away (about 10 blocks). She does enjoy living with her 3 human brothers, mom (me) and dad. She has the bestest neighbours who up until she got sick supplied her with the most delicious wild salmon treats. Her best buddy Baxter, a Boxer/Lab cross conveniently lives right next door. Ruby loves stuffies. She has a collection. Her favourites are from IKEA. They are just the right plumpness and softness. Piggy, Puppy 1, Puppy 2, Bunny, Donkey and Panda all take turns bring her bedtime companion. She chooses one, brings it to bed and proceeds to suck on it while she soothes herself to sleep. Ruby has a rare liver defect called an Intrahepatic Portalsystemic Shunt (IHPSS). Unbeknownst to us she was born with it. It was diagnosed after 4 weeks of investigation which included 2 stays in 2 different hospitals, many blood/urine tests, ultrasounds, X-rays, and a CT scan. We have used our emergency fund to pay the $15,000 CND vet bills which were necessary to treat her immediate needs as well as to get to the point where we now have a diagnosis and plan for treatment. The treatment is surgery which will cost approximately 20,000 CND.
