Zoey

Zoey is a 14 year old Maltese in West Haven, CT, who needs $2,000 for Dental Cleaning and Extractions.

West Haven, CT

Zoey was given to me from an acquaintance when she was 7 year old. I was hesitant on adopting her, but I could not let her go to a shelter or continue on in her current situation. Zoey and I have been together for the past 7 years. We have both grown old together! She is the queen of the house! Zoey is suffering from late stage periodontal disease. This past week her front bottom right canine tooth became dislodged. The tooth moved back and forth in her mouth and finally fell out but her gum has been bleeding on and off with inflammation. Her smile is now crooked from the loss of the tooth and she is in pain. Zoey has also had two seizures in the past year. Zoey has been my cherished companion since I got her. As I am now 80, us two have grown old together. She loves her other family members just as much. Zoey is terrified of thunder and fireworks. However, she loves car rides, bike rides, and walks! She has been a comfort on those disappointing days. Over the past year I have been battling cancer. Also, I am a retired widow on a fixed income. I have used my emergency fund on Zoey's last vet visits for her unexpected seizures. Having Zoeys health restored will bring her out of her depressing painful demeanor.

Yami

Yami is a 2 year old Mix-Breed in Bridgeport, CT, who needs $2,000 for Urinary Catheterization.

Bridgeport, CT

I have had Yami(full name Yami no Nami) ever since he was a little 8 week old kitten, along with his only sibling Salem. They joined my oldest cat, Ruby, when she was a year old. The brothers are almost inseparable since they came through my door over two years ago, either fighting, cuddling or just grooming eachother. Together we make a family. In the last couple days Yami became blocked and unable to successfully go to the bathroom. After waiting to see if it was just a temporary problem, I got him checked out as soon as possible after watching him all night. Once I got him to Companion Animal Hospital this morning, I was told that I was lucky to get him there when I did and that he would at least immediately need to be catheterized. Yami and Salem are two peas in a pod. Yami isn't as much of a cuddle bug as Salem, but whenever I call Salem to come in my lap Yami will be right behind him. He'll jealously watch us while I hug his brother, and as soon as he leaves my lap Yami will roar and chase Salem across the apartment, starting one of their little rival fights. Eventually Yami just started hogging my lap instead! I didn't want him to be in any more pain or worse, so I agreed to have him treated with the understanding that he is surrendered to Companion Care Hospital to find a new home. He is staying there until Saturday 4/27, and from that point I must either pay or surrender my boy.
