Yogi

Yogi is a 13 Year Old Mix-Breed in Jacksonville, FL, Who Needs $2,000 for Mast Cell Tumor Removal.

Jacksonville, FL

Yogi came to me by a small miracle…he was simply left behind and I was willing to take him in. We lived our best mountain lifestyle in CO until hip issues forced both of us to reevaluate our 3rd floor apartment. Yogi & I decided to move to FL in 2022. Here we found a ground floor apartment and while walking around the complex one day we met a nice man with a dog. Now we have a backyard & a family. Yogi was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor by Dr. Deeb at Monument Road Animal Hospital. We were then referred to Dr. Miller, an oncologist at SEVO where we got a complete work up and a good prognosis. We were then referred to Dr. Miller at First Coast Veterinary Specialists for tumor removal which is scheduled to happen on 11/18. After removal we will see what further treatment is required. Yogi is almost 14 and we have been together for nearly 8 years. He loves me the most but has opened his dog heart to his new step family. I can safely speak on Yogi’s behalf and rank his family members: 1st - Jason (human), 2nd - Ella (human), 3rd - Leo (dog), 4th - Kitty Boi (kitty). He is very happy with these humans in our lives. I was in an accelerated histology technician program from Jan until Oct and was unable to work. My new position (at a higher pay grade) starts in December. In the meantime I am working my previous job to earn an income. I would do anything for Yogi & we will figure this out.

Chocolate

Chocolate is a 1 year old Pomeranian in St. Augustine, FL, who needs $4,975 for Surgery to Eliminate Shunt on Liver.

St. Augustine, FL

Chocolate lives with a me, a 76 year-old grandma. He was acquired at 2 months, and is now 1 year old. We live in a two bedroom apartment where the neighbors are friendly and helpful. Chocolate is known by everyone in the development due to his friendly, playful nature, and is loved by all. He has become my little buddy and accompanies me whenever possible, which he loves. Chocolate was a healthy and highly energetic puppy. But when I took him to get neutered, his liver enzyme was elevated and he couldn't be sedated. After many tests, it was determined that there was a shunt on his liver. Dr. Dan Linden at First Coast Veterinary Specialists in Jax Beach, FL said surgery could correct the problem, and if not corrected, Chocolate would only live a few years. I live alone and needed to fill the loneliness I felt at times.. When I found Chocolate he stole my heart. My health, including my mental health, has improved amazingly, He cuddles with me and wants to be near me, constantly demanding my attention. (Probably because I have spoiled him!) I LOVE it that we are so close, and I never feel lonely because he is always here for me as I am for him I am retired, and live on a fixed income. I have already spent over $1200 already on tests, including an Ultrasound, The estimated cost of the tests and surgery to give Chocolate the chance of a long healthy life is $4,975.95. I just don't have it. I have no savings,

As he took to her as well. I have a cat who came into my life when my husband passed away and a bird that my husband gave me 12 years ago for Mother’s Day. I come to you today with a heavy heart and a plea for help. My beloved Lulu, is facing a life-threatening condition. A couple of weeks ago, Lulu's health took a sudden turn for the worse. She couldn't walk, was foaming at the mouth, and her heartbeat was dangerously low. After rushing her to the vet, we received the devastating diagnosis: a liver shunt. Without Surgery chances are slim. Lulu is best buddies with my other dog Jasper Who is five years old. He excepted her and she never leaves his side. She gets along with my bird and barks at the cat. She loves running back-and-forth against the fence of my neighbors with their dogs A pitbull and a pug. She loves to play rough and is so happy when I come home. When a visitor comes, she barks and barks At them and hides under sofa. My husband passed away with no life insurance. I had to take on all the bills myself. And my credit became limited with her becoming ill. She is a baby full of life and my heart and I hate to see her loss her life because I cannot afford to save her. Thank you for any Amount

Chanel

Chanel is a 6-month-old French Bulldog in Jacksonville , FL, who needs $1,500 for Fracture Repair Surgery.

Jacksonville, FL

Chanel came into my life in June 2023. She was just eight weeks old and the light of my life when I got her. I traveled more than six hours from home to go get her. Chanel is one of four dogs that we have currently. All are very well taken care of. She is the life of the party very outgoing rambunctious and she wants everyone to know that she’s here. Chanel let us know when she’s not happy about some thing she will lay in her doggy bed look at us and snort like a pig. On top of snorting like a pig she will flap her ears up and down which is the most adorable thing I have ever seen. And it’s so hard to try not to laugh when she doesn’t both together. On October 6 we were enjoying a nice evening outside on the back patio. I was holding Chanel in my arm when a squirrel ran through the backyard Chanel pushed and jumped out of my arm and landed on her paw fracturing her paw and is in need of fracture repair surgery. She was initially treated at Birch Island animal Hospital. They told me there was nothing they could do for fractures I currently work for Greyhound and was notified at the beginning of October that I would be laid off effective November 30. I am scrounging all of the money I financially can to pay for her care and I’m finding it extremely hard.

Scooter

Scooter is a 4-year-old Hound in Hilliard, FL, who needs $2,000 for emergency care.

Hilliard, FL • Paw Paws Pet Rescue

Scooter is in the animal hospital fighting for his life after likely being attacked by a wild hog. He was discovered barely walking, covered in puncture wounds, with one hideous injury to his neck. When Paw Paws Pet Rescue first saved him, they had no idea what he had been through, but Scooter would not have made it much longer if they didn't race him to the animal hospital. "Scooter was suffering from all sorts of infections and needed emergency attention fast," Michele H., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "The vet team opened up his chest and inserted a tube to alleviate the burden of the air that was not reaching his lungs. His lungs were suffocating, and he could not breathe normally. He was struggling." He needed two different surgeries, and during one, the medical team discovered the "item" that created his worst wound just missed his heart and went past his rib cage. The injury is roughly 5-6 inches deep and suspected to have been caused by a wild boar. Ouch! Scooter's prognosis is good. He is on numerous medications, but he is now walking on his own, and it seems like he wants to win this battle! "He's a sweetheart and very lucky to be alive. Our sweet houndie boy has been through many tests and endless poking but continues to nuzzle in for love and wag his tail," Michele says. Now the rescue has to raise money to pay for all of Scooter's emergency and life-saving care. Please give to help Scooter! "We are so very grateful. If any dog deserves a chance, Scooter does," Michele says. "The next part of his journey is about to begin, and we need your help to get him there."

His favorite activities include going to the park and playing with other dogs, and pulling me on my skateboard for long distances. Pepper enjoys sunbathing and thinks he’s a watchdog. A few days ago pepper was playing with his best friend low key. This was during the recent hurricane Ian. One way or the other he too a tumble and ended up breaking his femur quite bad. Scooby

Scooby is a 9-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix in Palm Coast, FL, who needs $2,000 for ACL repair surgery.

Palm Coast, FL

Scooby belonged to a coworker of mine who passed away suddenly. Leaving behind Scooby and 5 kids. her estranged husband decided he didn't want Scooby anymore so he was going to dump him late at night. 1 of the kids brought Scooby to me. My wife and I have 2 rescue dogs and her mother lives with us. We decided that 3 dogs would be too much for us. We took Scooby to The Humane Society. He was adopted by someone who know his family. Unfortunately they didn't take good care of Scooby. They left him out on the back porch with no food or water. Animal control picked him up & brought him back to the Humane Society. The estranged husband tried to get him back, the Humane Society/Animal Control did an investigation and found that wasn't a good home for Scooby. The Humane Society contacted us, and we just couldn't leave Scooby there so we adopted him on Friday 8/2/19. He was under weight and was limping. The Humane Society gave us some meds for his right knee. We took him to our vet for an emergency visit. They xrayed his right knee and found he had a torn ACL. Our vet refrred us to a specialist.
