Reza

Reza is a 11 year old Mix-Breed in Silver Spring, MD, who needs $1,000 for ER Visit.

Silver Spring, MD

Reza is an 11 year old DLH kitty. I got him when he was 3 years old. A woman in a FB group got him from a friend and didnt want him because he was "bad". So I went to her house and picked him up. Best thing Ive ever done! Reza is so nice, so sweet and loving - he loves everyone he meets! He truly has been a blessing in my life these past few years. I was trying to go to sleep, and I saw him on the floor by my nightstand, eating something excitedly. I tried to grab him to see what it was, but all I saw was a flash of white as he ran away. When I finally got to him 10 minutes later, I didnt see anything. Given what I did see, I believe he ate dental floss. For now, he seems fine, but I know I have to take to A Cat Practice soon. Reza has always been playful and friendly, from the day I met him. Favorite toys include stringy toys on a stick and catnip toys. He's the friendliest cat I've ever met, and falls in love with everyone he meets, including vet professionals! I am disabled and love alone, so he means the world to me I lost my job last fall and was unemployed for 6 months. I now work pt, but its 1/3 of my previous salary, so I'm not making ends meet. Im disabled bur dont receive disability, so its been really hard. I dopay for an insurance policy for Reza, but cant afford to use it.

Ronan

Ronan is a 6 year old Mix-Breed in Rockville, MD, who needs $6,694 for Urethral Stent Placement.

Rockville, MD

Ronan is a sweet, wonderful dog who came to me from our local animal shelter when I was wallowing at home alone during the pandemic. He was a stray and had been adopted out once, but the family couldn't keep him. It was a lucky day for me when his photo turned back up in the "available dogs" list. He is ridiculously cuddly and amazingly "talkative" and having him here is important to my health. Ronan is being treated by Friendship Animal Hospital in Washington, DC for an anomaly in his urinary tract that has created a life-threatening situation where he can't empty his bladder. When he can pee normally, he's a vibrant, healthy young dog. When he can't, he risks an unpleasant death within 24-48 hours. He needs a procedure to adjust the stent placed in April that saved him then. Ronan is a wonderful companion. He likes to be where we are and to cuddle up against us. I battle with depression, and having his support really helps my mental health. He loves taking walks and wrestling with my boys when they visit, and he is absolutely adorable when he wants something - he does little jumps and head tosses and "talks" to let us know. He has rescued us as much as we did him. My job was downsized, and the job market has been AWFUL. I am carrying the full cost of lifesaving treatments Ronan had in Mar/April while appealing denials from his insurance. He urgently needs a second procedure that I cannot afford. I can't have him die cause I'm broke.

Jackson

Jackson is a 12 year old Siamese in Fort Washington , MD, who needs $14,000 for Chemotherapy.

Fort Washington, MD

My truest blessing. Since 6 weeks old Jackson has been apart of our crazy at times chaotic family. Fitting right in. Being left in an apartment a worker who brought him to me knowing I was lonely due to losing another fur baby. That was 13 years ago and I’m so thankful for the miracle of Jackson December 10 Jackson was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. Friendship animal hospital are willing to do either Chemo or radiation but the expenses are tremendous due to my own illness I am unable to afford them. I’m fighting for Jackson because as he became my savior I intend to be his. Jackson is feisty and loving. Such a lovable kind boy who is loved by all. Friends and family just adore him and are fighting for him to pull through. Lost my job due to several autoimmune diseases and Jackson is my happy space and place and to help him get the treatment to continue being a joy to not only us but to live will be amazing.

Luna

Luna is a 7 year old Golden Retriever in Silver Spring, MD, who needs $2,000 for LOPP.

Silver Spring, MD

We got Luna from Amish Country in Pennsylvania. She was a gift for my wife, and she's been part of our family for seven wonderful years. We name her after the Harry Potter character, Luna Lovegood - she's always had that same sweet, quirky, and gentle spirit. For most of her life, she lived with us in Washington, D.C. but recently moved to Maryland. Luna was recently diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma at Apex Vets in Silver Spring, Maryland. We took her to the emergency vet after she stopped eating and began losing weight - it was clear something was wrong. Since her diagnosis, she's been receiving care from an oncologist at Friendship Heights Hospital for Animals in Washington, D.C. Luna has been a joy ever since we brought her home. She's not much of a cuddler, but she insists on ear scratches - and we're happy to oblige. She loves exploring the woods and can't resist diving into any water she finds. Some of her happiest places are in Connecticut and Florida, where her grandparent live. For Luna, those visits are like a beachy Disneyland - pure excitement, freedom, and fun. My wife and I recently welcomed our first daughter, Sofia, just two months ago. Living in D.C. is expensive, and Luna's vet bills have placed a real strain on our budget. Luna is our first dog-daughter, and we want Sofia to have a chance to create some memories with her.

Ness

Ness is a 12 year old American Shorthair in Silver Spring, MD, who needs $2,000 for Cancer Chemotherapy.

Silver Spring, MD

Ness came to us as an 8-year-old rescue in late 2020. We were told he was a "lovebug" and they couldn't have been more right! He is an only kitty and lives with me and my husband, who lavish attention on him constantly. About two months ago, Ness became unusually lethargic and refused to eat his usual food. He was diagnosed with lymphoma at Friendship Hospital for Animals and placed on a chemotherapy treatment plan that will last until late July. The exact nature of the cancer is unclear, but even with his first few treatments his health has improved tremendously - a trend we don't want to see backslide. His idiosyncracies are near and dear to our hearts. A previous medical situation left him with very few teeth, and his tongue is almost always hanging out of his mouth. He will lick any hand that gets near his mouth, and won't stop for anything! He loves to be held, which is weird for a cat, and will greet us throughout the day with purrs and headbutts. He is also fascinated by pens. His treatment is a sudden and major expense at a time when family matters have drained our savings. He is the greatest joy in our lives and we want to see his health continue to improve so he can continue to enjoy life as much as we know he does.

Koda

Koda is a 9 year old German Shepherd Dog in Washington, DC, who needs $2,000 for Surgery to Remove a Cancerous Tumor.

Washington, DC

Koda was rescued from an abandoned barn by my dad when he was just a puppy. He's lived with me and my family for all 9 years of his life. When I came home from serving in the military, Koda was just a puppy but we were tied side by side to one another and have been ever since. He has traveled all over the country with me as my shotgun rider, and he now lives with me in Washington DC. Last week, we received heartbreaking news—Koda has cancer. He has a tumor growing on his anal gland next to his colon, and the vet says he needs surgery as soon as possible to prevent it from invading his colon and causing fecal incontinence. His primary vet is Live Well Noma in DC, but his cancer is being treated at Friendship Animal Hospital - also in DC. Koda is as special as they come. He's had a fixation on lights and shadows ever since my little brother used a laser pointer to entertain him as a pup. He loves spending time outdoors and he gets super competitive when it comes to fetch. He really doesn't like when other dogs are faster than him and he knows how to fake a limp to excuse himself as needed LOL. He also LOVES sweet potatoes! Koda isn't just my emotional support dog. He is my best friend. I wish so much that I could save him the way he saves me. After a sudden move due to black mold & my spouse's hospitalization, I simply don't have the money despite selling everything I can to save him.

Goober is a 9 year old Siamese in Kensington, MD, who needs $2,000 for Blood Transfusion and Overnight Stay.

Kensington, MD

Goober came to me after losing my soul kitty, Link at 6.5 years old due to end stage CKD. I felt the pressing urge to go to the shelter while I was visiting home and this very talkative boy came out to say hello to me. I immediately fell in love and knew it was a sign from Link to adopt this boy. Goober's name stayed the same and he came home to meet my 3 other cats (Inky, Jasper and Mocha). Goober has been losing weight, becoming more lethargic and overall demeanor becoming more reclusive. He had been diagnosed with FIP after a 2 night stay at Apex vets and then having to be transferred to yet another ER vet in DC (Friendship animal hospital). Right now he needs a transfusion and perhaps another night in the hospital While all of my babies are special, Goober is unique that he comes to talk to me, puts his paw on me when I am sad (especially at the beginning of our journey together while I was still mourning the loss of Link). He loves cuddles and is attached to me and me only. I am in school and I am short on funds. I have insurance for all of my cats, thank goodness, and Goober, since he is older (9 years old), I elected him to have a higher payout max. Sadly, he capped the other day and I am still going to have to pay an additional 4-5k:(

Sage is a 3-year-old Dogo Argintino in Washington , DC, who needs $2,000 for ICU.

Washington

I have had Sage since she was 6 weeks old. She is one of the sweetest and most loving dogs I have ever had. I got Sage for addition emotional support during the pandemic after the loss of my dog Ginger who passed away from old age. She has helped me to make it through a bi-lateral lung transplant, the death of my mom due to COVID and other emotional and physical challenges that I have faced. Sage is my best friend she is always there for me. She cuddles with me when I am not feeling well. She loves to play with her son Adonis and run the household. She is referred to as Madam Sage because she is such a prissy girl. She always looking for a good trat or snack and is willing to perform cute tricks for food. LOL Sage and my son stepson Dj are the best of friends her referrers to her as his "sister". She has a love/annoyed relationship with her son Adonis. She is used to being the center of attention and the recipient of all the love and affection otherwise she demands it. On 2-27-24 my home was destroyed in a horrific fire. My dogs Sage and Adonis were rescue by my father and a family friend who came home during the fire. Both of them were in ICU as a result of the injuries they sustained during this tragic event. Sage has 2nd and 3rd degree burns on almost 50% of her body. She has had to undergo 3 surgeries thus far and will require more intensive care to recover. The level of care Sage requires is crucial in order for her to survive. I have run out of reserves with paying over 20K out of pocket already and the bill continues to rise and if I am not able to pay the hospital will discontinue her care.

Dynamite

Dynamite is a 9-year-old Pit Mix in Washington, DC, who needs $2,000 for FSS TLPO Bilateral Surgery.

Washington, DC

Dyna is a rescue from a high kill shelter in California. I worked at a dog daycare when she arrived to Seattle (thanks to Ginger's Pet Rescue), and accepted mtly application because Dyna would need socialization - or at least they thought she did! She actually loved being around other dogs just got excited and didnt know how to show it. I got the most well behaved dog - by accident! Dyna is the sweetest most polite dog you will ever meet. I have had her for 7 years and she still asks permission to get on the couch with me everytime. She loves anyone who has a few spare minutes to show her affection. My motto is "They come for me, but they stay for Dyna"! She has over 20 toys because she won't destroy any of them, just likes the snuggles. She is the perfect dog - chill at home, and then when we are outside she will run and run! Especially if there are other dogs to play with. She has proudly completed Oregon's Pacific Crest Trail and would stay outside sniffing and trotting through trails all day if she could. When its time for a break she will snuggle right up for a cozy nap - with one or two of her everlasting toys of course Dyna's favorite thing to do is run - unfortunately about 8 months ago she tore her CCL (knee ligament). She was limping for a couple weeks, but my pet insurance said I couldn't get financial assistance for the surgery until I waited 6 months. Watching her sadly look at all the other dogs playing while her arthritis grew was heartbreaking. Now they are saying it is pre-existing, and won't help. I have one source of income but always choose her expenses over mine. The money I saved for surgery has all been spent on her xrays, and the vet is recommending that she have surgery on both knees. She is still so full of life and energy, and I refuse to take that from her.

Reign

Reign is a 5-year-old Jack Russell in Fort Washington, MD, who needs $2,000 for Kidney Stone Removal.

Fort Washinton, MD

I rescued Reign from being relocated to a shelter in 2018 when her previous owner moved to a group home prohibiting pets. Since then, Reign's been an integral part of our family, proving that her size doesn't limit her spirit. In our household, Reign found a canine sister whom she's incredibly attached to. Their bond is so strong that her sister felt her ER visit. In our household, Reign was the epitome of energy and joy. Before her recent ailment, she was always the life of the party, dancing alongside me whenever music played, her tail wagging in rhythm. She shared an inseparable bond with her canine sister, their playful antics brightening our days. Additionally, Reign had a special knack for making guests feel welcome, showering them with affection. Reign's distinct quirks bring endless laughter to our home. Her perfectly timed "yoga poses" during our sessions make her our unexpected yoga buddy. Her head tilts curiously at high-pitched tones as though cracking a code. Her attempts to "chat" through quirky vocalizations never fail to entertain. Every day with Reign is filled with joy and amusement. Reign's health took a sudden downturn; she stopped eating & vomited daily. Concerned, we rushed her to the ER, where tests revealed elevated kidney levels. The diagnosis was a kidney stone obstructing her urethra, causing her immense pain. If not addressed promptly, this condition could be fatal. She's currently at VCA, overseeing treatment. Her health & swift recovery remain our top priority. Facing a surgery cost of over $5k, I'm financially strained. Reign isn't just a pet; she's family. At just 5, she has so much life ahead. The thought of losing her is unbearable. Her recovery would mean a restored joy and completeness in our home. Her well-being is paramount

Coco is a 3-year-old Yorkshire Terrier in Washington , DC, who needs $1,750 for Leg and Pelvis Repair.

Washington, DC

Coco, is a true pandemic dog, born on 3/13/2020--the very day the pandemic was declared. She was a birthday gift for my daughter's 8th birthday since we couldn't travel as planned. My daughter fell in love with Coco who was just 12 weeks when got her and full of love, character and personality from day 1. She's brought so much love and joy to our family and neighbors, alike. Coco is full of energy. She loves when we get visitors and is first to greet them at the door! She loves to play chase in the backyard or when she sees her fury friends on a walk. Coco lives for car rides and enjoys the view from rhe driver seat. She loves to sleep in her beds, but finds comfort sleeping with my daughter or me at times. Coco is a social butterfly--she never meets a stranger and if someone claims to not be a dog-lover, Coco ia destined to change their mind! Coco loves a good game a chase and she's fast too! She loves playing with all dogs, especially ones bigger than her, who seem to be enticed by her big personality. She also loves treats--her fave is salmon jerky. She's the sweetest addition to our family. Coco was hit by a car on 6/3 and unfortunately the driver kept going. She sustained pelvic fractures and a right sacroiliac luxation and requires surgery to regain her normal life. Seeing Coco go from a vibrant, fun-loving pup to a docile and sad baby has been heartbreaking to witness. I just want to see her happy again This incident came an a time when I simply cannot afford to pay the costs of her care. After a loss of income in November, I'm on the road to financial recovery and trying to rebound and rebuild my nest egg. Having Coco healthy and recovering means having my family whole.

Moe

Moe is a 13-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Pensacola, FL, who needs $2,000 for Subcutaneous Ureteral Bypass.

Pensacola, FL

My cat Moe needs a subcutaneous ureteral bypass because one of her ureters is blocked. The right ureter is fully blocked at the kidney, which is causing that kidney to fail (and keeping her in constant pain). The blocked kidney has shrunk to almost half its normal size and soon may lose all function, which is irreversible. Her other kidney has large, unpassable stones in it, and cannot function at full capacity. Due to the delicate nature of the surgery needed it is not something a general practice vet would do, so I will have to take her out of town to visit a specialty clinic for surgery and post-op hospitalization. I have already spent a couple of thousand dollars to get the diagnosis, but sadly, I do not have enough money for the treatment, which is very expensive. I have called several clinics (across several states), and the charge is pretty consistent, with surgery alone costing approximately $10,000 - $12,000. When you add in the pre-op tests, post-op hospitalization / follow-ups, medications, and travel expenses, it could be closer to $15,000 in the end. Unfortunately, Moe's problem came on suddenly, and I was not prepared. Please help me save Moe, she is only thirteen years old and the clock is ticking for her.

Mango

Mango is a 2-month-old Beagle who needs $1,800 for Parvovirus Treatment.

I currently live with Mango in my studio apartment in Maryland. It has only been a week since I have rescued him but boy has it been a roller coaster! I found him through a friend who could not afford to take care of him and it turns out he has Parvovirus, which is costing a fortune. Mango was happy and energetic the past couple days I had him and he suddenly declined. Mango is sweet to people and is very curious of the world. He is a very smart dog and listens well. Although he is young, he is already showing signs of understanding my direction. He is a very intelligent dog and is a curious one. I cannot wait to introduce him to my friends and their furry friends! Mango is a pocket beagle, a breed not a lot of people find today, so I wanted to take him in and give him a happy life, but he is going through a handful of health problems right now. Mango likes to jump around a lot and whimper to get my attention. When I talk back to him, he barks back at me and it's as if we are having a conversation. Every 2 hours he will ask me to pick him. He is my baby. He currently is in Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, DC. Dr. Cleaver is currently in charge of him. 202-695-7335 Mango has been vaccinated and dewormed. I was surprised to learn that he has caught parvovirus. I am very sad! He was so energetic and happy, he suddenly became ill. I did my best keeping him indoors because he is still so young. Mango has to have the treatment at this hospital for the next 3-4 days or he will pass away. Because he is so young, I am hopeful he will come out of this. He has a good spirit so I know he will fight it through. We have only been together for week but he is my baby.

Luna

Luna is a 3-year-old Mix in Washington, DC, who needs $2,000 for Bloodwork and Hospitalization.

Washington, DC

I adopted Luna when I was living abroad in South America. She had been abandoned on a box on a street when she was one month old, and was taken in by a family for 2 months. They could no longer keep her, but wanted her to go to a good and caring home. After I adopted her, we were inseparable; I brought her to the US, and we've been together ever since. Luna is the baby of the family, and she definitely takes advantages of this. She demands everyone's attention all the time, and constantly requests pats and belly. She has all the energy of a puppy, and never stops bounding around. She especially loves playing chase and tug of war with her older sister. At the end of the day, she loves snuggling in bed with Mom and Dad. I am a student and get limited income through research and teaching. COVID 19 made this last year harder due to job loss and multiple unexpected medical expenses. It would mean the world to have the funding necessary to get Luna the treatment she needs to get healthy again. My dog accidentally swallowed a pill (medication for humans) today that is toxic to dogs, and she needs urgent veterinary care. This medication can cause permanent organ damage in the long term, so we are particularly concerned about getting her care. We are seeking emergency help at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, DC. Luna is not your usual dog; she has strange tastes in food, no doubt since she was once a street dog. She will happily knock over the trash in search of forbidden treasures one day, and request cheese from a charcuterie board the next. She also loves crunchy vegetables, like broccoli & carrots. Luna also thinks pants are the enemy, and destroys them to prevent Mom & Dad from leaving the house.
