Caspian

Caspian is a 1 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in St. Louis, MO, who needs $2,000 for Patellar Luxation Surgery.

St. Louis, MO

Caspian has been with us since day one! From the moment I held him snuggled in my arms, I knew he was the one! He was such a happy puppy growing up! He loved running around the yard with my nieces and nephews, and going to the dog park! He lives with my husband and I in our 4 plex in the city. It has been hard to watch him go from a puppy to a puppy who walks around like an old dog. He was a a healthy puppy when we got him (May 2024) to December of 2024. After that, I started noticing him walking weird, does we decided to go to Hillside Animal Hospital and found out he has stage 4 patellar luxation in both knees that is causing him so much pain when he walks. He has shifted all of his weight to his front legs, and when he sits, they shake from all the weight. Caspian loves his nieces and nephews, and loves playing with them! He loves his dino and his sister Thumper the rabbit. He loves going on walks with his Cavi friends and seeing them at the Cavalier group we are apart of. He has always been such a happy boy! Since this has been very sudden expensive procedure, we have not had the time to save up the money in the short time frame to save up the money before his knees start to cause arthritis. For his quality of life, we would like to start to the surgery as soon as possible.

Photo of Elinor

Elinor

Elinor is a 11 month old Mix-Breed in St. Louis, MO, who needs $2,000 for Amputation Wound Management.

St. Louis, MO

Elinor was dropped off at a rescue facility limping on her front right leg. I fostered to adopt Elinor soon after meeting her mid September. When she got spayed they also got an X-ray that showed a distal humerus fracture which the vet recommended an amputation. Unfortunately this was not disclosed to me before adoption but i knew she needed a loving home. Elinor received her amputation from the rescue facility on 10/23. She has suffered complications such as bleeding from incision site and now a MRSA infection. The MRSA infection has required daily wound clean outs at the vet office that now require deeper sedation and anesthesia due to the pain and discomfort. We are hoping we can close the wound in a week if the infection can clear. Elinor is very smart and sweet. It’s obvious she has just wanted a safe and loving home. Prior to the amputation, the leg had caused her pain but definitely didn’t slow her down. She loves toys and tug of war and of course all of the treats. She was already learning to sit, lay down, and heel. I feel this amputation will continue to not slow her down once we can get through this hard time. Unfortunately I was not prepared to pay the expansive expenses that Elinor is requiring and the adoption center is not able to compensate. I had just recently spent most of my savings on my house due to roof leak and I am a single income household.
