Bear

Bear is a 7 year old Mix-Breed in Tonganoxie, KS, who needs $4,500 for TPLO Surgery.

Tonganoxie, KS

7 years ago I was in a rough place mentally. I had lost my family dog a year before and needed a companion. I found just the cutest puppy on Craigslist and he was only $20. So I drove 2 hours to pick him up and he’s never left my side. For the next 7 years he’s been my absolute best friend and just the best dog anyone could ever ask for. So for his incredible love for me I named him Bear. Bear never had any medical issues. Was always just the perfect pet. Till about 2 months ago he started limping. Then got to a point where he won’t stand on his back leg at all. So took him to my local vet and they sent me to an ortho. So we went to kc canine orthopedic where they told me he had an acl tear and had to have surgery. Bear is the most gentle giant. He loves to cuddle with our cats and play with his two sisters out back. He’s quiet. Never gets into anything. Just all around the perfect gentleman. Compliments everywhere we go on just how sweet he is and how good he is. I never had to train him much because he follows and listens all on his own. I mean how perfect could he be. Currently I have had some extra expenses that I wasn’t prepared for. I had to get a new vehicle and help my parents out with their housing bills. So to have a large expense thrown my way just wasn’t possible to handle. It breaks my heart to see him struggle so much.

Copper

Copper is a 8 year old Mix-Breed in Kansas City, KS, who needs $2,000 for CCL Repair - TPLO Surgery.

Kansas City, KS

Hannah, Copper's mama, adopted him in March 2019 after he'd been returned once before. Hannah fell in love with Copper immediately when he went straight for the toys, happily finding a tennis ball. Copper is a pitbull/dachshund mix, which makes him extremely lovable and cuddly with Hannah and his siblings. Described as having a severe case of FOMO, he is Hannah's shadow, especially in the kitchen. Copper loves roaming around the yard, barking at neighborhood sights and sounds, and he loves to play with his siblings. A few weeks ago, he injured to his left hind leg, which was confirmed via x-ray at Kansas City Canine Orthopedics, to be a canine cruciate ligament (CCL) tear that needs surgery to repair. This surgery would be curative of his lameness, and he would be back to his playful self. Copper is one of the most loving dogs ever! If you're sitting on the couch or in a chair, he'll jump up to cuddle on your lap. No room? Then he'll be right by you on the floor. Copper's been so sweet with his youngest sibling, a two-year-old pittie mix named Violet. They cuddle, rough-house, and tug on toys together. You'll never meet a dog who loves toys or peanut butter more than Copper. Past joblessness and unexpected home repairs have Hannah, Copper's mama, overwhelmed with debt payments. She's currently working with a debt relief program that takes a significant contribution from every paycheck (20% of gross income).

Boba Fett

Boba Fett is a 5 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi in Orrick, MO, who needs $2,000 for Arthroscopy and CCL Repair.

Orrick, MO

I have had Boba Fett since he was 8 weeks old, he has helped me get through the hardest times in my life. He was there when I moved out on my own and then when I had my daughter. He is the sweetest boy, with the drive to be wild. Over the last 6 months Boba has had issues with limping in his back right leg, after scheduling surgery and getting ready to go in for what we thought was a CCL tear we found out that it wasn't that simple. He was diagnosed with the cyst in his femur bone that has been eating away at his bone and causing major issues. The only way to fix it now is with majoy surgery and a long recovery. Over the past year we have been working with training him on working with Goats and herding our goats to get them pinned up as he is just learning how to be off leash. His favorite time of day is when he gets to go out and help with feeding the Cattle and farm. He loves being able to run around and just enjoy his time outside. With the new knowledge of Boba needing major surgery, I have two options. Either go through with the surgery which is around $4,500 according to the estimate from the surgeon or not being able to afford it and later having to amputate due to financial issues.

Yoshi

Yoshi is a 5-year-old Chihuahua in Olathe, KS, who needs $2,000 for Femoral Head and Neck Excision.

Olathe, KS

Yoshi was rescued from a backyard breeder in the summer of 2018. They had the intention of inhumanely euthanizing her when she was only four weeks old. The person who had her deprived her of basic needs, food, water, shelter and most importantly, love. She has been in my care since then where she is loved unconditionally and spoiled rotten. Yoshi's household is full of love and laughter and four furry siblings as well as two human siblings. Her favorite spot to sleep is right next her human mom and dad. She doesn't always play but loves to eat and cuddle. Sometimes she will get a wild hair and jump, run and bark. She even chases the scary hand monster that occasionally crawls over the bed. Yoshi is very special to me as we have created a strong bond throughout the years. She has a way of making me feel better and calming me down. When I am sad, she will stretch both of her paws up into my face, make big puppy eyes and wag her little tail as fast as she can to get my attention from whatever is making me sad. Sunday evening Yoshi had taken a fall and dislocated her back left hip. She is unable to bear weight on her left side due to a previous injury. After the first vet visit where the doctor was unsuccessful in setting it back into place. Yoshi was referred to a specialist, in canine orthopedics, where we discussed the option for FHO Surgery, Femoral Head Ostectomy. The injury and cost of surgery were unexpected as we do not have a rainy-day fund. Yoshi is my world, and I would do anything for her. It pains me to not be able to provide the funds to immediately alleviate the pain she is experiencing.
