Nala

Nala is a 5 year old Mix-Breed in Lancaster, PA, who needs $2,000 for Chemotherapy.

Lancaster, PA

Nala came from a rescue in NJ. Her name was Penne back then until the woman we were dealing with said her grandkids were calling her Nala and I said, that's it. Nala is playful, gentle and loving. She lives with her 2 sisters and a brother. Her sisters are Kia, an American Staffordshire Terrier Mix, Baily, a Border Collie Mix and her brother, Kylo is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Nala has just been diagnosed with Lymphoma at the young age of 5 yrs old. We're meeting with the Oncologist in a couple of days to go over how to move forward Nala is my barker. A person, a person with a dog, someone on a bike or even a squirrel or bunny she barks at it. She is also gentle and loving and loves to put her head on you when we're sitting on the couch. She's been sitting in my youngest daughters lap since she was 3 months old and still thinks she's a lap dog So unfortunately her diagnosis couldn't have come at a worst time since this is the first time in almost 40 yrs my husband has been laid off work. We want to give her the best we can of the remainder of her life. We won't let her suffer. She's part of our family

Peanut

Peanut is a 11-year-old American Shorthair Cat in Lebanon, PA, who needs $2,000 for Intestinal Resection Surgery.

Lebanon, PA

We adopted our Precious little Peanut form the Lebanon Humane Society and the love bond was instantaneous. He has given us so much joy in the 11 years we have shared together. He has a brother, Tiger, who we adopted at the same time. I always called Peanut my Maybelline kitty because he has such beautiful two tone colored eyes. He is chocolate and always had such a beautiful coat. He loves to just be with us and really is a cat that likes your company. It has been very hard watching him go through this downward spiral and we have worked hard to try to save him...spending hours and days researching his medical condition and looking for ways to help him. If love could heal, he would've been better a long time ago. We pray to God and Jesus to heal him. Everything Peanut does make you smile. He is very loving and his eyes tell the whole story of his loyal, compassionate nature. You just want to pick him up and hug him to pieces. Peanut has been n a downward spiral for the past few months but we didn't know what was wrong with him and then 2 weeks ago he had an ultrasound which revealed a mass in his Ileum in the small intestine and the only way to save him is to remove it. We had a consultation with a board certified surgeon but the surgery is very expensive...nearly $6000 and we need help since we had no pet insurance. It means everything. Our pets are our children since we couldn't have any human ones of our own. They are respected and loved as a parent would any human child. We lost 2 other cats within the past 10 months and the emotional and financial hardships were overwhelming.

Cookie

Cookie is a 6-month-old Cane c\Corso in Marietta , PA, who needs $2,000 for Entropion Ectropion.

Marietta, PA

I bought my cookie girl from a local breeder on February 11,2022 cookie is a Cane corso. She was born on December 11,2021 I also have a beautiful checkered white and black male boxer my boy Ice. Cookie lives with me, my husband and my son. Cookie loves carrots and taking other people food.Cookie has a big open field where runs Cookie is 6 month old and already weighs about 70lb and she sleeps on her side of the bed. Cookie is the most loving big girl I have ever met and she licks everyone in the house. Cookie loves her raw carrots & loves to run in the yard all day if she could, her favorite thing is her yellow tennis ball following her stick. Cookie makes me laugh all day because she is always sneaking up behind me and scaring me, or barging into the bathroom when I’m taking a shower and jumping into the shower, Cookie as big as she is, is scared of other dogs barking which makes me laugh because I think of a elephant and a mouse situation. Cookie started having issues with her eyes 3 days after we bought her the situation has to deal with both of her eyes having corneal ulcers abnormal cartilage in the third eyelid causing eyelids to curl, entropion and ectropion. Cookie needs surgery for both eyes. Laid off, taking care of my husband which his leg was run over by a garbage truck. For Cookie not be in pain anymore and be able to play would mean everything to us

Winter

Winter is a 10-year-old Domestic shorthair in Camp Hill PA, PA, who needs $1,940 for Chemotherapy.

Camp Hill PA, PA

I have a domestic short-hair named Winter. She is 10 years old and has been with me since she was 4 months old. She found me in the Winter time as a stray and has been with me ever since. Even escaping to be with her cat friends, she always came back, so I made her a forever home with me. She is my first fur friend. Winter likes to sunbathe in front of a window while at the top of her cat condo. She enjoys her ball track and toy mouse (as long as there's catnip). She takes to women mainly, and was comforting to her cat brother Tux, when he was not feeling well (he passed from an undiagnosed heart condition, unfortunately the vet did not hear a murmur and we could not find the issue in time). Winter has given comfort after I lost my mom; she helped me get through health issues; and she helped me get through a masters program. She is playful and loves to be petted, and is very inquiring about what I do at the computer. She likes to sit with me while I work or study at the computer. Winter also provided comfort after I lost another pet from an undiagnosed heart condition. Over the Summer, I noticed a small swelling on her left hock. I took her to the emergency vet hospital (Shores in Harrisburg PA), her vet at Colonial Park and a specialist in Lancaster. She has a growth on her left lung along with the hock growth. It was confirmed after several tests that she has malignant lymphoma. Last treatment payment was approved by Paws 4 a cure for one time treatment. I lost my job in August due to downsizing because of covid. I am on unemployment and food stamps. I cannot afford her current treatments which are at $400 a treatment for chemotherapy. Currently, she is on gabapentin, prednisolone, cyclophosphamide and vincristine.

Ben

Ben is a 6-year-old Chow mix in Lancaster, PA, who needs $700 for Diagnostic Testing.

Lancaster, PA

About a year and a half ago, I applied to be a foster with The Sebastian Foundation for Animal Rescue here in Lancaster County. The director sent me a picture of a dog named "Ben" and asked if I was interested. I saw this goofy looking dog and accepted. Within a week, Ben was transported from North Carolina to Harrisburg where I picked him up and he hasn't left my side since. We like to call Ben my shadow. I cannot make a single movement without him investigating to see if I have left the room or where I am going. He literally follows me everywhere. I'm not complaining. Ben is super calm and loves to meet new people, especially on his walks or if you have a treat for him. His new favorite quarantine habit is to sit by our neighbors fence and wait until he gets a treat. During the pandemic, I lost my job in early April. Ben was relatively healthy and this testing wasn't on my radar. I want Ben to be able to get excited without the possibility of loosing him. Ben was tested and confirmed that he was heart worm positive as a foster. He received treatment which was successful and is heart worm negative. There was some long-term damage done to his little heart from the heart worm. With too much exercise, Ben looses consciousness and faints. He now has to see the cardiologist for diagnostic testing at Lancaster Veterinary Specialists. Ben is a big goofball. He doesn't look where he is walking and ends up running into poles, walls, or other people. Sometimes when he runs into you, he'll leave his head down so you know that he "needs" his pets. Ben is also a great alarm clock. At 6:45 every morning, I am greeted with stinky dog breath and a few barks letting me know it's breakfast time. He has learned the phrase "5 more minutes".

Buddy

Buddy is a 5-year-old Labrador Retriever in Lebanon, PA, who needs $2,000 for an endoscopy.

Lebanon, PA

Five years ago I found an ad for chocolate and black lab puppies. Went to see them with the intentions of only getting one. Ended up leaving with 2 lab puppies. One black and one chocolate. Shortly after getting them his sister(Delilah) had hip issues and had to have hip surgery at the age of 8 months. Buddy and his sister Delilah are always together. Buddy also lives with several cats as well. Buddy enjoys going swimming at the local pools after Labor Day. He enjoys laying on the sofa with me and his sister. Up until him getting sick he had several favorite stuffed toy monkeys that he enjoyed playing with. He also loves the grandchild that lives with me.
