Shasta

Shasta is a 7-year-old Shepherd Mix in Hillsboro, OR, who needs $1170.90 for Spay and Mass removal.

Hillsboro, OR

Shasta has come into our family quite unexpectedly. She showed up outside our room at the hotel we were staying at near Mt. Shasta. She immediately loved our puppies and followed them on all their walks during our stay. At night she would hide under the porch to stay away from the bear that roamed through town. We knew she needed help because she was skinny, hungry and had skin patches. We asked around town and none of the locals recognized her. We did our due diligence and checked with the local animal hospital and lost and found lists. There was no one claiming her. When it was time to go home, we made a space in the car and invited her in. She jumped in immediately with no hesitation. It was like she knew we were going to help her. So we brought her home. Because Shasta was an unexpected Treasure we did not have the finances saved for such a big vet bill. We are currently a one paycheck household due to our own medical emergency. We just need help over this first hurtle and then we can take care of this wonderful gentle lady Shasta has had a chronic ear infection. She has skin issues that may be allergies. She is currently in heat, so we are dealing with diapers, etc. which will lead to a spay procedure when it is safe. She has two Mammary Masses that need to be removed and biopsied - 50/50 chance for cancer. We have a relationship with Cornell Road Vet and Dr. Larison. This is where we have the estimate from. Shasta felt comfortable enough to come into the house after only an hour. She is still so very sweet and has had some kind of training. She always has a calm and gentle demeanor. She loves our other pups and never is annoyed by them. She is polite and happy. Everyone who sees her recognizes her kind gentle soul and can't believe she was lost or left by someone. She is happy here.

Olly

Olly is a 12-year-old Rat Terrier in Dallas, OR, who needs 597 for extraction of infected molars.

Dallas, OR

This is my little girl Olly. The lady that I got her from named her Olivia but I changed it to Olly. Olly is a 12 year old Rat Terrier. I got her from my former neighbor who was buying her through a local breeder that we both knew. Olly was 9 weeks old when I bought her from the neighbor who could not handle Olly’s separation anxiety from her littermates and she was tearing up the neighbor’s property out of frustration stemming from the anxiety and the woman was constantly hitting Olly with newspapers so I had to act to get the poor little puppy out of the situation so I offered the lady to finish paying off Olly and the lady accepted. I’m a Gulf War veteran and I have depression and when I got Olly she was terrified of just about everything and I saw that she was in desperate need of an alpha to quell the separation anxiety. From day one, was training, training, training and within about a week she had stopped tearing up things and wasn’t as afraid anymore. Since I got Olly I’ve been able to manage my depression a little better because she knows when I’m feeling a little down and she would come up beside me and snuggle with me or she would do something silly and get me to laugh. I’ve had this wonderful dog for 12 years now and every day, without fail, is training. Olly is my best friend. We both used to love going to the park but due to recent health issues with me, I can’t walk her around the park because of my physical limitations. Olly gets excited by certain people that come over to my place and she tries to get them to take her out. She likes meeting other animals especially cats because my mom’s black cat adopted Olly when she was just a pup and they got along famously.
