Puka
Puka is a 6-year-old Schnauzer in Lodi, NJ, who needs $1,800 for an echocardiogram and mastectomy.
Lodi, NJ
My sister in law came from Peru in 2015 and I fell in love with Puka and since then we became family. She’s my everything now, she’s mine. My sister in law left and left her and she also left Puka's mom who is 10 years old. I have them both with me and they are pure happiness. Whenever I go to the bathroom, Puka follows me. She stares at me with pure love. A doggie's love is the best a human can get. My baby loves to sleep but she adores to eat. I try not to give her that much because I know she’s overweight. She loves to go for a walk and go to the beach. She loves to play around with kids and other dogs. She doesn’t like to share her food so she tries to eat it as fast as she can so nobody (her mom) can take her food. I live with my mother. She’s 70 years old. I recently lost my father from diabetes and it’s basically me taking care of the household: my mother, Puka, and Puka's mom, Bella. I work full time but it’s not enough for the bills. She is a healthy doggie overall. I just found out that she has a heart murmur type 2 and that she needs to get 1 or 2 mammary glands removed. They need to check her heart with an echocardiogram before they proceed because they don’t want to make sure she's healthy enough for surgery. Also they need to do a biopsy and see if they are dangerous. She’s so funny, she loves to get pet and when you stop petting she kinda grabs your hand with her paws so you could keep petting her. She also loves to give kisses and she loves when I massage her and brush her fur, it relaxes her. I know she understands everything I tell her especially when I tell her I love her so much.

Blanket
Blanket is a 1-year-old Domestic short hair in HACKENSACK, NJ, who needs $1,200 for Antibiotics, culture and bloodwork for injured paw.
HACKENSACK, NJ
3 kittens were abandoned by their mom down the street from me. They were 3wks old so I took them in to raise them. I had to bottle feed them, help them go to the bathroom. The 3 brothers are just like my babies and so happy to have them in my life. Now they are 1 yr and 4 months. My 14 yr old son picked this cat to name and called him Blanket because he would love to sleep under the blankets. Blanket likes to sleep in the tall cat tree, on the bed or in my son's room on the rug. He loves to watch the birds and squirrels outside my window from the cat tree with his 2 brothers. Blanket is a picky eater with the wet food. He doesn't like to be held unless he wants me to. Blanket loves to chase his brothers and run after my son playing. Blanket has vet on Friday still limping. I have a fixed income that just makes my rent and a single mom. It hurts my heart to see my Blanket not his normal self not using his paw. I couldn't pay for his labs so vet didn't send them out. It would mean the world to be healthy Well a few weeks ago I noticed Blanket holding up his left paw and limping. The vet said he had a cut on his big pad so cleaned it, gave meds. Well, 2wks later he was holding his paw up again and not putting it down. Back to vet and said he has a callus on the pad now. They took a culture and blood, sent home with more antibiotics and pain meds. The vet didn't send the blood or cultures out no money Blanket has 2 brothers named Nipsey and Angel. He likes to play with balls, crinkle toys, the laser and to scratch on the posts. He doesn't like loud noises at all. Blanket gets ina mood everyday where he comes on the bed to me and pushes his face against mine and than lays down up against me to snuggle. He knows his name and looks when called. He also knows words as in eat, treats, buggy and light

Sheena
Sheena is 2-year-old American Staffordshire bull terrier in Hackensack, NJ, who needs $1,985 for knee surgery and for the monitoring of her blood infection.
Kearny, NJ
Sheena (Jane in Gaelic) was rescued as the runt from a backyard breeder. Around 1 she began to have hard time doing steps, and waddling. She was diagonals hip dysplasia, very minuscule so why can’t she walk? We did physical therapy for months - massage, underwater treadmill, exercises, and treated her skin for horrible allergies. Finally $4000+ a few mo later. We had two orthopedic opinions, confirming the immediate need for double partial ACL repairs. Well, the day of surgery she couldn’t have it because her allergies were really a masked mrsa infection (still treating at this point as she is a carrier). When she finally had the surgery in Aug it came back delaying wound healing. As of Oct 9, she is still on a second antibiotic as she is resistant to most. She is continuing her rehab at home
