Help Little Lady Live A Long Healthy Life

kaunakakai, HI • Rescue Kitties of Hawaii

Lady was found on the side of the road barely able to walk with an abscess on her chin. She looked like she hadn’t eaten in weeks, just skin and bones. Rescue Kitties of Hawaii had to step in so she could be brought to safety. She was fed and taken to the vet immediately. She only weighed three pounds as a 1 year old kitty, severely underweight. Her abscess under her chin that had to be drained and required injectable antibiotics. After extensive blood work the vets found that she also tested positive for FIV which has caused her immune system not to be able to heal the infection. And on top of all of that she has also lost many teeth due to bacteria destroying her teeth and gums. The biggest concern for Lady was her back leg. She could barely walk and after an x-ray was obtained it was found that her leg had been broken in two spots and required immediate amputation. It was likely that she had been in pain for a significant amount of time as the bones were already trying to heal. Lady will have a long road ahead with recovery requiring restricting all mobility until she is healed which can take about 2 months. She will require around the clock care to ensure she is not in pain and her wounds are cleaned and not infected. While her prognosis is hopeful, the emergent surgery and weeks of advanced care following after have created significant medical costs. The upcoming days will be the most crucial to ensure Lady’s immune system can withstand. Any donation, no matter the size, helps give this brave girl the chance to heal and finally know comfort and love. 4/15/26 Update Thankfully, Lady has fully healed from her leg amputation. She got a very bizarre allergic reaction or skin rash. The vet said it's like immune-related and has recommended taking her to a board-certified dermatologist. So far, she has received an antibiotic and two steroid injections, which seem to be helping. 5/22/26 Update Thank you so much to everyone who supported Lady on her healing journey! She is doing much better and is anticipated to recover even more once her dermatologist gets her on the right treatment plan.

Support Limpy's Recovery Through Leg Amputation

kaunakakai, HI • Rescue Kitties of Hawaii

For more than two years, Limpy survived on the streets with a deformed paw—likely something he was born with. The caretakers at Rescue Kitties of Hawaii first met him at their feeding station, but he was smart and trap-savvy. For over a year, he outwitted every trap they set, always staying just out of reach. Eventually, patience and trust won him over. They fed him closer and closer to the garage until one day, they were able to safely bring him inside. That’s when they noticed the blood smears on the floor and realized his paw injury was worse than they thought. The vet suspects Limpy will need a full leg amputation to end his pain. This sweet boy has fought for survival long enough—now he deserves a chance to live without suffering. Your donation will help cover his upcoming veterinary appointment, surgery, and recovery care. Please, if you can, give today and help make Limpy’s future pain-free. Rescue Kitties of Hawaii cannot do this without generous donors like you. Every dollar brings him closer to comfort and safety. Thank you. Update 8/15/25 Limpy had a successful leg amputation. He is now in recovery with a wonderful foster from Rescue Kitties of Hawaii, and she will foster him to full health! Update 10/8/25 We are so happy to share that Mr. Limpy is healed and doing great! This wouldn't have been possible without people like you. Please keep supporting his healing journey. Thank you!

From Streets to Safety- Help Give Mao Hope

kaunakakai, HI • Rescue Kitties of Hawaii

Mao was just a young island cat doing her best to survive when everything changed. She was found on Moloka‘i with a devastating injury under her front leg, her skin torn wide open, the wound already turning necrotic. With no emergency vet on the island and her condition rapidly declining, her rescuers at Rescue Kitties of Hawaii knew they had to act fast if they were going to save her life. Her caretakers quickly jumped into action, working around the clock to keep Mao stable. They gently cleaned her wound, hydrated her, and did everything they could for nearly 48 hours—just long enough to get her on a flight to O‘ahu. There, she was rushed straight into surgery, where her front leg was amputated and the infected tissue was carefully removed. Today, Mao is resting in a warm foster home, surrounded by love and healing energy. She’s still being syringe-fed and has a long way to go, but her strength is returning bit by bit. Despite all she's endured, she’s calm, sweet, and endlessly resilient, proving to everyone around her that she’s not giving up. With time, care, and a little help from her friends, Mao will soon be adjusting to life as a three-legged beauty. Her staples come out soon, and after that, it's all forward from here. Every day she grows a little stronger and with your support, her journey will be filled with nothing but joy and happiness. 4/21/26 Update Malo is back on Molokai and is fully healed from her leg amputation. She has been adopted with her loving forever family and is INDOORS ONLY from now on, getting acclimated slowly and safely to the family’s other indoor cats! Thank you for your support!

One Tough Kitten: Little Wharfy’s Big Fight

kaunakakai, HI • Rescue Kitties of Hawaii

Wharfy was found in heartbreaking condition, all tangled in fishing net at the Moloka'i wharf. No one is sure how long this kitten had been struggling to free himself. The fishing lines had torn through his tiny limbs, taking off part of his front leg and damaging his back paw. But this brave little one clung to life, meowing for help until someone finally heard. That cry led him straight to Rescue Kitties of Hawaii, who refused to let his story end there. Rescue Kitties of Hawaii rushed into action, starting pain meds and antibiotics while coordinating an urgent flight to O‘ahu. There, sweet Wharfy underwent emergency surgery to remove what remained of his front leg. The damage had been too severe, but the procedure saved his life. With skilled hands and a compassionate heart, the vet team gave this little fighter a shot at a happy, pain free future. Now safe and healing in his foster home, Wharfy is already showing the world what he’s made of. He’s snuggling up for naps, purring contentedly, and learning how to navigate life on three legs with the heart of a warrior. Missing a leg hasn’t dimmed his spark, it’s only made it shine brighter. He’s adjusting quickly and has shown himself to be an affectionate, spirited little survivor who loves attention and doesn’t mind the extra pampering one bit. There’s still healing ahead, but Wharfy is finally safe, loved, and on the path to a beautiful life. Please consider donating today to support Wharfy's ongoing care.

From Being Trapped Under a Deck to Being Safe and Loved: Help the Moloka‘i Puppies Thrive

kaunakakai, HI • Rescue Kitties of Hawaii

It started with a cry- their tiny voices calling out from beneath an old pool deck on Moloka‘i. A mama dog had been left behind months ago when her family moved off-island, and she’d given birth under the deck, accessibly by momma, but too far to be reached by people. A few days after giving birth, and mama disappeared. Her seven puppies were left behind, hungry and alone until Rescue Kitties of Hawai‘i got the call. With no time to waste, the team rushed in, joined by a group of incredible seniors who didn’t think twice. Aunties and uncles in their seventies and eighties crawled under the deck, unscrewed boards, and gently pulled the pups from the dark. One by one, seven four-week-old Blue Heeler puppies were bottle-fed, bundled in blankets, and given their first real taste of comfort and care. Today, the pups are safe in RKH foster homes, slowly gaining strength with round-the-clock feeding, warmth, and meds. Papa dog, now known as Jamba, was safely trapped with the help of Maui Humane Society and has already found a loving home thanks to a generous foster family who stepped up without hesitation. Everyone is still hoping mama dog will be found soon. Donations will go toward their care to ensure they have a bright future ahead, one they deserve. Their story began in heartbreak, but thanks to an unexpected team of heroes and a whole lot of love, these pups now have a chance to grow up safe, strong, and surrounded by care. Update 07/25 The seven little bundles of love are doing amazing! They are now fully weaned and have received their first vaccinations. They are now able to safely go outside and absolutely love this play time! We are now waiting to raise funds and prepare them to get all ready to fly to Oahu for them to get fixed. Thank you for your ongoing support! Update 9/9/25 4 puppies were flown out to a wonderful dog rescue partner in New Hampshire, and they fixed them all there. This rescue adopted 2 out on Molokai. So they only have 1 left that needs full vet care. This would not have been possible without your amazing support and generosity!

Tiny Kitten with Big Spirit: Help Mahalo Heal

kaunakakai, HI • Rescue Kitties of Hawaii

Mahalo was found by a kind family wandering down Mahalo Street on Molokai, just 3/4 of a pound and in rough shape. She was covered in fleas, severely dehydrated, and struggling with flea anemia. Her temperature was dangerously low, her gums pale, and her tiny body was weak, but even through it all, she showed a little spark of life. Once in care, she was gently warmed and given fluids to help stabilize her. Though too tired to eat at first, she slowly began to swallow small amounts of Nutrical and baby food. Her eye, which had ruptured before she was found, eventually detached on its own. Pain medication helped keep her comfortable, and she’s now resting on a heating pad, with her breathing monitored closely. Mahalo is being given round-the-clock support and everything she needs to stay comfortable and keep fighting. There’s no vet on island, and she is too small to fly just yet, so her care team is doing everything they can to support her from home with careful hydration, nutrition, and pain management. It’s still early, but her tiny steps forward give hope that she’s not ready to give up. She may be small, but she’s already shown how strong she is. With time, care, and love, Mahalo has a real chance at healing. Donations will help cover her supplies, follow-up care, and eventual flight to Oʻahu for further treatment once she’s strong enough. Thank you. Update 07/25 Little Mahalo is doing great in her foster home filled with so much love! She is slowly but surely gaining weight and strength as she prepares to fly to Oahu for her eye removal. Thank you for your continued support!

Emergency Leg Amputation Needed! Help Tiny Kaia Heal

kaunakakai, HI • Rescue Kitties of Hawaii

On the way home from the airport, a volunteer with Rescue Kitties of Hawaii spotted a tiny kitten on the side of the road. She was just six weeks old, scared, and all alone. They scooped her up and named her Kaia, a name as sweet as she is. She was covered in fleas, clearly in pain, and likely suffering from a broken front leg. Kaia is now safe in rescue, finally getting the love and care she needs. She’s being treated for fleas, kept warm and comfortable, and her pain is being managed. She’s sweet, snuggly, and full of purrs! Despite everything, she wants nothing more than to feel safe and loved. At just under two pounds, Kaia is still too small to fly to Oʻahu for specialized orthopedic care. Once she’s big enough, she’ll make the trip for advanced treatment. In the meantime, Rescue Kitties of Hawaii is giving her everything she needs to grow and prepare for the next step in her healing journey. Donations will help cover Kaia’s medical care and recovery. Every bit of support brings her closer to a healthy, pain-free future. Please give if you can. This tiny girl has a long road ahead, but with help, she will have the support needed to thrive! Update 06/27 Kaia’s x-rays just came back, and unfortunately, the news isn’t what her caretakers had hoped for. Her leg is badly broken and so severely that it can’t be repaired. After consulting with the vet team, it’s been decided that the only way forward is an emergency amputation. While it’s heartbreaking, the team is staying hopeful. Kaia is still just a baby, and her young age is on her side. Cats are incredibly resilient, and many adapt beautifully to life on three legs. They are confident that with time, love, and proper care, she’ll bounce back and thrive. Thank you to everyone who has been rooting for her so far. Your support means everything as she prepares her for surgery and continues her healing journey. We’ll keep you posted every step of the way! Update 07/01 At Rescue Kitties of Hawaii every cat/kitten is Ohana. We embrace the no kitty left behind concept. Our little tripedal princess is recovering well after her amputation surgery-she is the littlest snuggle bug with the biggest purrs. Today’s Kaia couture consists of a purple “socksie”with stitch embroidered. Update 07/11 If you’re wondering what Kaia is wearing for her play date today-it’s Dinosaurs! Stay tuned for what’s next on #kaiakittycouture. Also of note-Her post surgery recovery is going well! Still have a few hundred left to raise to pay for her surgery but this kitty will be ready for adoption before you know it!

Poseidon Returned Against All Odds—Now Let’s Help Him Heal

kaunakakai, HI • Rescue Kitties of Hawaii

Poseidon was found curled in the grass near a bus stop on the Kāneʻohe Marine base, starving, weak, and too scared to come close. Someone began bringing food, earning his trust over days. When he was finally brought to the vet, the team scanned his microchip and discovered he was one of Rescue Kitties of Hawai‘i’s own, so they immediately stepped in to help Poseidon once again. He was severely dehydrated and dangerously thin, requiring slow refeeding to avoid complications. Covered in fleas and parasites, Poseidon also had a painful mouth infection and severe dental disease. The vet confirmed he needed full-mouth extractions. No one knows how he traveled so far, but his return felt like fate. He had made it back to the rescue that once saved him, and they are committed to helping him again. Now safe in foster care, Poseidon is eating well, gaining weight, and showing his gentle personality. He purrs through treatments and seeks out affection, but his mouth still causes him pain. His dental surgery is scheduled for July 1. After surviving the streets and somehow finding his way back, he deserves comfort, safety, and a second chance that truly lasts. Rescue Kitties of Hawai‘i is covering Poseidon’s care, but support is needed for his upcoming dental surgery and recovery. Help honor his incredible journey and give him the pain-free life he’s been trying so hard to reach. Update 06/25 Poseidon has his dental upcoming in a few days! Rescue Kitties of Hawaii are continuously monitoring him to ensure his pain is kept to a minimum until his procedure. Thank you for your ongoing support as Poseidon prepares for his much needed dental operation! Update 07/01 Poseidon was scheduled for his dental today, but the vet found he’s still congested—even after a month on antibiotics. He now urgently needs to go to the vet to rule out pneumonia. His dental will be rescheduled, but he still desperately needs it too. Please donate now to help cover his emergency care. Poseidon is the sweetest boy—he deserves a healthy, pain-free life.
