Benji
Benji is a 7 month old Siamese in Oakland, CA, who needs $2,000 for Exploratory Laparotomy.
Oakland, CA
Benji was adopted from the Oakland Animal Shelter around 3 months. He had two other siblings and was known to be a bit shy. After coming home, he grew out of his shell and is quite playful with his new sisters. Benji loves to eat. He will jump up and down the counters waiting for his food to be ready every day. After eating his share, he likes to find seconds from his sisters. After an emergency xray reading, the doctors at Modern Animal discovered that he had an obstruction/foreign object in his intestine. The doctors had to give him a surgery on Halloween at Pets Referral because based on the xrays it was too deep to pull out endoscopically. That Friday morning of Halloween, he was not racing to get his breakfast. In fact the plate was set down and he did not go to it. We carried him right in front and he sniffed it, only to walk away. I offered treats which he would also reject. This was not like him because he would paw at his siblings to ask for their treats. He is usually a hyperactive boy, but that morning he was also sluggish. With rent and cost of living, my cats and I are already living on budget. I would to maintain their quality meals, treats, and toys, but this unexpected expense will make it that much more difficult. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Adora Belle
Adora Belle needs $2000 for Lung Cancer Surgery.
Los Angeles, CA
Adora Belle was born on November 1st 2012 while I was away at college. Her mother Nonamé had gotten pregnant by Chance, the mailman's dog during a playdate. The mailman happened to stop by on his route while Nonamé was giving birth and helped my dad deliver 4 healthy puppies. Adora Belle and I formed an instant bond. She's stuck with me through moves and life changes. Truly a best friend. After a cough that only seemed to get worse Adora Belle went to a veterinarian who ran blood tests and X-rays that discovered she likely had lung cancer. We were referred to a specialist. PETS Referral Center was recommended. They confirmed she has a tumor at the edge of her right lung. She's still her regular self besides the cough. Surgery was suggested as the best option for her condition. Adora Belle is the sweetest dog with a jealous streak. She's anxious but will throw herself in front of me if she seems something in our path to be a threat. She takes treats so gently and loves licking fabrics but thinks she's too good for playing with toys. Adora Belle enjoys walks and seeing other animals from a distance. She shows love and care for people especially if they're crying or sad. I've been plagued with so much hardship, the latest being my own Cancer fight. I've been finally recovering and moving forward in life trying to get back on my feet. Adora Belle has been my everything. She has so much life left in her still. She deserves to live her life
Mackie
Mackie is a 13 year old American Longhair in Albany, CA, who needs $2,000 for Fluid/CSF Analysis, Chest Tap Brief, etc.
Albany, CA
My beautiful Mackie came into my life in 2013. I adopted him from a rescue in Santa Barbara, where he had been found as a scrappy street cat. But you wouldn’t be able to tell: He was all affection from the very beginning. At the time, I was obsessed with Mac Demarco… so naturally, I named him Mackie. Mackie was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He needed fluid removed from his lungs, which my family funded for $1700. However, he needs routine checkups and medicine at a cost we cannot afford. I am looking at thousands in spending. I was quoted $1800 for the echocardiogram at VCA Encina Veterinary Medical Center alone, while initial checkups will cost several hundred more. At the moment, we're not sure if this is a one-and-done situation or a chronic one. But I want to get set up in case the latter hits. He is the most sweet-natured cat I have ever met. I have dedicated many a song to him, and I often sing popular songs while substituting his name in. “We’re Going to Be Friends” by the White Stripes is a big one. In return, he cuddles up close into the crook of my arm every night as we watch ASMR videos on my laptop. He’s stood by me for 11 years, and I would like to repay his endless loyalty. It would mean the world to ensure Mackie is by my side. I live alone on an income where I can cover my immediate bills, but I have zero savings due to student loan debt. I am ill-equipped to withstand an emergency, so I won't be able to care for Mackie without assistance.

Raider
Raider is a 18-year-old Mix in San Pablo, CA, who needs $2,000 for Sedation Combo and Monitoring.
San Pablo, CA
In 2005 my mother lost her dog (chopper). About a week later my brother came home with a little puppy he found on the side of the road on his way home from work. Mom named him raider. In 2021 we lost our mom to kidney failure and now I have Raider. I was recently shot in my arm and had to have reconstructive surgery on it. I am out of work until my doctor clears me. Financially, I am struggling. Raider is my little brother. I bath him, feed him, walk him and we even argue. When I tell him what he can and can't do, he talks back and tries to hide on my bed under the blankets., I'm always laughing at raider. He has always acted human. He sits on the couch and watches TV with me. He sleeps with his head on the pillow and he yells at me. Raider has an abscess on his left back paw. The vet wants to do a biopsy to make sure it's not cancer. Plus he wants to send him home with pain medication I really can't afford I was shot in the arm with a rifle and recently got out of the hospital. I can't work due to the injury and I am barely getting by financially. I just can't pay these bills

Millie
Millie is a 1-year-old Dachshund in Fairfield, CA, who needs $1,800 for emergency sugery.
Oakland, CA
Even the best and most responsible dog parents know what it's like: your pup finds something on the floor and gobbles it up. Sometimes they're so swift you don't even know they got it. That's what happened to Taina H. Recently her beloved Dachshund, Millie, started vomiting. Tania rushed her to the animal hospital, where X-rays revealed a corn husk created a life-threatening blockage in her intestines. "Her intestines were so inflamed that they could rupture," Tania tells Waggle. "I made the decision to have her undergo surgery at that moment with no hesitation." Millie's total medical bill was $20,000 -- a tab that many could not afford! Tania is a full-time student without a job. She is now frantically trying to raise money to pay Millie's expenses. Millie means so much to Tania, who says she is a complete joy and brings laughter and kisses to everyone! "Any help would mean so much to Millie and me," Tania says. "I have to sell my car."

Ivy
Ivy is a 4-year-old Manx in El Sobrante, CA, who needs $1,950 for surgery/amputation.
El sobrante, CA
Ivy girl was gifted to us as a baby. My mother in law rescued her and her siblings. She lives with us and has two cat brothers and one dog brother that she adores. She loves to eat! Dinner time is her favorite time. She loves to sleep curled up right by our face and snuggled with her fuzzy blanket. Ivy is very vocal. She loves her tuna treats and loves to cuddle! But only on her time, trying to love on her when she is not in the mood, expect her to let you know! But when she does want attention, she has no problem jumping on you and nudging your face. We both like to think we are Ivy's favorite owner but she loves us both the same. It was an unexpected cost and they are quoting around thousands for the surgery and emergency treatment since Friday. Any little bit helps! Unfortunately Ivy suffered a severe trauma and was hit by a car. She has two breaks in her femur and has needed blood transfusions due to bleeding. She’s been at Pet Referral Center in Berkeley since Friday. They have been trying to keep her stable so she can have surgery to amputate the leg. We are needing to do surgery today and just don’t have the funds. Aside from her leg, she is 100% healthy. Ivy is hilarious. She is not like any of our other cats. When she eats, if you walk by her she growls non stop. She loves her food and doesn’t want you near it! She loves laying in the window and soaking up the sunshine. She likes to walk with us when we walk our dog and say hi to all the neighbors.

Princess
Princess is a 10-year-old Pit Bull in Richmond, CA, who needs $4,500 for Tetanus infection.
Richmond, CA
Princess was a gift. We had her since she was a baby. She was both a outside and inside dog. She slept either with me or my children. She is currently at the Pets referral center in Berkeley, Ca. She’s has been there for almost a week now fighting for her life. She will remain there until she’s back healthy again. She was a outside dog. She loves playing chasing after butterflies she is really great with my youngest kids. Everyone who comes in contact with her loves her so much. She is the most happiest dog baby you’ll ever get a chance to meet. She also loves playing dress up sometimes with the kids. Her personality is adorable. Due to Covid-19 my hours have been cut at work. I am a single mother of 4. it would mean so much to me to have Princess home and healthy again. We desperately miss her! Princess was found trapped under a house with metal wires running through her leg. We were able to free her but unfortunately, her leg had to be amputated in the process. A second visit to the veterinarian, Pets Referral Center, Dr. Sam revealed that she not only has a rare case of tetanus, but a long metal wire inside her - likely from ingestion while trying to chew them off her leg.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Adeline (Addie)
Adeline (Addie) is a 4-year-old German Shepherd in Pinole, CA, who needs $4,999 for tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy surgery.
Pinole, CA
We first met Addie when she was 6 weeks old. She was brought in to our local shelter after being hit by a car. Due to her injuries she had to have her front right leg amputated. We met her the day after her surgery and instantly fell in love with her resilient and joyful spirit. Addie is our first dog and she’s taught us so much during the past 4 years that we’ve had her.

Moose
Moose is a 13 week-old Collie Mix in El Cerrito, California who needs $3,000 for Parvovirus Treatment.
El Cerrito, CA
We adopted Moose from a rescue organization called Finding a Best Friend Rescue. He was in a litter of 8 pups rescued with their mom from a homeless encampment in Stockton. We fell in love with him right away--his sweet nature, his one startlingly blue eye and his round, pink tummy. He was 13 weeks old and came home to live with our family of eight--mom and dad, three kids, two cats and a snake. We chose the name Moose because of his too-large-for his body ears. He was with us for only four days, just starting to make friends with the cats, when he became sick. We were horrified to learn it was parvovirus. He had had his vaccines, but not the very last one yet, because he wasn't quite old enough. We don't know where he picked it up because he didn't leave our house or yard. He has now been in the emergency pet hospital for four nights and we are being told he is very sick. They believe he will recover, but will need to spend at least two more nights in the hospital.
