Gizmo
Gizmo is a 2 year old Mix-Breed in Westbrook, ME, who needs $3,000 for Heart Disease, Congestive Heart Failure, Emergency.
Westbrook, ME
Gizmo came into my life when one of my neighbors unexpectedly had kittens. He was the smallest of the litter and last to be adopted. Rather than see him go to the shelter, I decided to take him in. I promised that I would give him the best life that I could. He was just so happy to be loved. We became best friends. I was living alone for the first time, so I needed him just as much as he needed me He has always been so healthy, so playful and energetic. I never suspected anything could be wrong. But then I came home and he was unresponsive on the floor. I immediately took him to Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care where they told me he had suffered congestive heart failure and likely has undiagnosed heart disease. He's stabilized now, but still needs a diagnosis to get meds Gizmo has so much personality. He loves people. He loves his adopted brother Bones. He loves to watch the sunset every night from his favorite spot by the window. He even plays fetch. He is such an important part of our family, I look forward to coming home to see him every day. He has helped me get through so much these past few years. I feel so incredibly lucky to have him in my life. The past year has been so hard. So many unexpected emergencies have come up, it has wiped out our savings and credit. On top of that losing a job/benefits, while living expenses just keep going up. Having my family at home has truly been the only thing that's kept me going.

Goose
Goose is a 7 year old Australian Cattle Dog in Westbrook, ME, who needs $4,000 for Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy.
Westbrook, ME
Goose is my constant companion, wingman, and partner for just about everything. He was rescued 5 years ago, and has been exploring Maine with me ever since. If I’m heading out to camp, hiking a trail, or just grabbing a car ride with the windows down, Goose is always the first one in the seat. Our usual routine came to a sudden halt recently when Goose started badly limping. The vets at Portland Veterinary Emergency and Special Care confirmed he has a severe cruciate ligament tear in his hind leg and needs surgery. For a dog who lives to play chase and explore the outdoors, it's a rough spot to be in. When I first rescued Goose from an Arkansas shelter, he struggled with meeting new people. But after years of training, he now loves to explore and make new friends. He visits neighbors (sneaking into their houses whenever possible), plays with his new feline roomie, and will sit and shake for anyone with a treat. The total estimate for his surgery is $7,000. Managing an unexpected medical bill of this size is a major challenge. I’m covering as much of the bill as I can myself, but I’m hoping to raise between $3,000 and $4,000 here to help bridge the gap.

Brady
Brady is a 10 year old Labrador Retriever in Gray, ME, who needs $9,040 for TECA-BO.
GRAY, ME
Brady has been in our lives since December 2015. I got him as a gift to my husband for christmas and a furry friend for our other puppy, Harley. He was 7 weeks old at that time. He is the middle furbaby with a canine sister and brother, as well as 2 feline sisters. I named him Brady after Tom Brady because my husband is a die-hard Patriots fan! Brady has had chronic ear infections most of his life. In the last 2 years we have had to have an ear flap drained, as well as his face drained three times due to infection breaking through the ear canal. He has had two drains placed in his face in the last year. The Portland Veterinary Emergency Care and Specialist believe a TECA-BO is needed to prevent further damage to Brady. Brady has the attitude of a Grumpy old man but the soul of a brand new puppy. He loves to snuggle up beside you in bed (specifically as the little spoon). Being outside is Brady's favorite activity. Whether our kids are on the trampoline, playing in the rain, or rolling around in the snow, Brady is out there enjoying the fun with them. Due to my husband's career with the Navy, we are going through some changes to include going back to only his income. The support will take some of the load off us while we go through this transition in life. The surgery could lessen ear infections and facial abcesses.

Missy
Missy is a 8 year old Mix-Breed in Bowdoinham, ME, who needs $5,000 for Pancreatitis, Surgery.
BOWDOINHAM, ME
I adopted missy when she was 3 months old from the humane society here in brunswick maine. She has been such an awsome companion over the last 8 yrs. She was never sick until now. I can drop food and she won't try to get it, I leave food out on the table overnight and it's still there in the morning. She deserves a chance she is so good. Missy is currently in the animal emergency hospital in Portland Maine. She has an IV for fluids and any meds they give her. She has a inflamed liver and gallbladder with sludge because her passage way is narrowed. She is fighting a uti and possible pancreantitis. She's fighting and so am I. Missy loves her whole family especially her grandmother. When she comes over missy will whine and shake her tail and almost bend in half with excitement. I can leave food out and she does not take it, drop food on the floor she doesn't even move and I have never trained her. She loves walks, going to the beach and chasing the chickens. Her favorite thing is peanut butter and ice cream. This is an unexpected emergency with no backup funds. I have used all my money on her. It's not fair she is so good. I felt like I was gonna puke trying to come up with the down payment to put her in the hospital because if I didn't they were going to send her home to die

George
George is a 6 year old Boxer in Westbrook, ME, who needs $9,497 for Chemotherapy for T-Cell Lymphoma.
Westbrook, ME
George was rescued from an abusive home. He was hit by a car that was left untreated until we adopted him nearly a year after the injury. We adopted him and got his hip treated and have worked closely with him on his trust and people issues. He loves to play and go outside. He is now calm, gentle and LOVES people! He is well loved by everyone as well. George developed quickly some lumps under his neck which were immediately diagnosed as lymphoma cancer. The vet is planning to start chemotherapy treatment which they are pretty confident will give George more of the great life that he has. and loves They feel as though he is a good candidate for this treatment with success. George is loved by many and loves EVERYONE! However, when "Grampy" lost his wife of 34 years unexpectedly George came in as his best friend and loyal side companion. What started as just a way to give weekend friendship and support to Grampy has now turned into the best of friends. George gets to do everything withy Grampy. They are inseperable They even go to Grampy's office together and work! We are currently dealing with some family health issues as well. George encourages Grampy to take care of himself, be active and gives him the love he needs while he too is going through cancer treatment. George is a true hero in unconditional love he gives Grampy.

Willow Mae
Willow Mae is a 7 year old Kooikerhondje in Caribou, ME, who needs $4,000 for Chemotherapy.
Caribou, ME
I have had Willow and her sister Ava since they were 8 weeks old. They haven't been apart a single day for the last 7 years. They have both been the best dogs. I can see that Ava is having a hard time with Willow being sick also. She is giving her extra attention and loving on her. They are both the most loving and gentle girls. I first noticed a lump on one side of Willow's neck the first week of December. It took me a month to get her into the vet. By that time she had multiple lumps and they were growing quick. The vet sent out a sample and put her on prednisone. It came back that Willow Mae has lymphoma and I was devastated by the diagnosis. The prednisone shrunk the lymph nodes. Willow's favorite thing to do durimg the day is to lay in the window and let the sun shine on her while she watches the cars and people pass by. I love when people come into my work and let me know they seen Willow in the window today. We took Willow to the Veterinary Oncologist and they gave us hope that she can fight this awful disease. This diagnosis came very unexpected and it's very hard for me to admit that I need help to save her. We will need to travel over 4 hours every 3 weeks for 5 mths for her chemo. Her Dr said she has a very good chance to go into remission. She deserves a chance to beat this.

Choupette
Urgent. We Had No Choice. Emergency Surgery Saved Choupette.
Greenville, ME
Choupette was found wandering the streets by an SPCA rescue north of Montréal, CA in 2020 where she had 5 puppies upon arrival. They texted us a photo, & we adopted her over the phone, then began the arduous process of getting her across the border which was closed because of COVID. We are a couple living on a fixed income but have given her the best life possible, spoiling her beyond belief. Choupette's hind legs suddenly became paralyzed in December due to a herniated disc. She needed emergency spinal surgery, so we drove three hrs to Portland Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Care. Though it would be a huge financial burden, we weren't going to let her down since she had given us nothing but love. The total cost of her care came to $11,750, financed through CareCredit. As a Lhasa Apso Scottish Terrier mix, Choupette's breed was bred for cold, so she LOVES the snow in Maine! She romps through it, burying her head till it completely disappears. She also loves riding in the car & is anxious to go everywhere with us (which she does.) She takes us for long walks & runs & she is so sweet, gentle and loving that everyone she meets loves her instantly. We live on a fixed income & never anticipated Choupette's sudden paralysis & the cost of emergency surgery. We didn't hesitate to give our beloved dog what she deserves, many more years of good health, & she is already moving her hind legs & doing better than expected!
Pistachio
Pistachio is a 4 Month Old Boston Terrier in South Paris, ME, Who Needs $2,000 for Bilateral Elbow Luxation Repair.
South Paris, ME
Pistachio was born with a deformity in his front legs. His vet told his breeder that there was no surgical treatment available. She contacted me because I have done doggy rehab and doggy PT with multiple foster and family dogs. I was happy to be able to offer him anything that I could do for him. We arranged for me to pick him up when he was 8 weeks old. Almost immediately we began his rehab. His new rehab veterinarian practices out of Portland Veterinary Emergency ans Specialty Care in Portland, Maine. X-rays were done and the subluxations in his elbows were easily appreciated. She spoke to a member of the surgical team who shared that surgical repair might be possible. We consulted with the surgeon and she was very optimistic. “Toshi” is an amazing little guy. He is full of energy and does not know he is different. He is a lovebug, but also loves to do his exercises. He swims 3 times a week, walks in his front cart, does stretches and works on making his back legs strong. With a stronger hind end, it prepares him to be able to progress better during his post-op rehab. When Toshi joined our family, we were totally prepared for his PT needs. Surgery was not in the picture. But we learned he can benefit from surgery and the prognosis is very good for having normal mobility after. But we can’t afford to provide that for him.

Sam Spade
Sam Spade is a 4 month old Australian Shepherd in Rockland, ME, who needs $2,000 for Spay Complicated by Heart Condition.
Rockland, ME
I adopted Sam from my neighbor's granddaughter. She came into our home on June 13th at just 8 weeks old and has become a wonderful addition to our family! Her brought Oskar (age 13) has actually come to love her very much and enjoys her companionship. At our first meeting with our vet, the doctor noticed a heart murmur. She suggested a cardiologist. Dr. MacGregor at Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care diagnosed Sam with tretology of fallot, a very serious heart condition, and recommended she be spayed as soon as possible to alleviate further heart stresses. Sam is playful, loving, and full of life! She is a wonderful pup and a joy to have in our family! She loves people and other dogs, and is always wanting to be friends. I hope to have Sam in our family for many years. The cost for the spay surgery is about $3000 because of the heart issue. She will need special anethesiologist and an additional machine to provide oxygen to her blood. Any help is appreciated. I plan to get the surgery this month in any case but any donations would help.

Sophie
Sophie is a 13 year old American Shorthair in Brunswick, ME, who needs $2,000 for Intravenous Fluid Therapy.
Brunswick, ME
This is our Sophie, a rescue from Times Square, NYC who is adorable, loving and intelligent. She hates no one. She is very vocal and has the ability to hold a conversation with you if you try. Chasing and playing fetch are also things she has mastered. She gets along with our cat Miles, our dog Lulu and any person who gives her attention. Her presence fills voids. She has a perfect button nose:) Sophie was recently diagnosed with diabetes and immediately after developed Feline Diabetic Ketoacidosis which is a medical emergency requiring aggressive fluid treatment and a hospital stay of 2-4 days with progress. She is currently progressing at Portland Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care which is in Portland, Maine. She went from critical to stable overnight and and of on a path to recovery Sophie is the center of attention. Her ability to hold a conversation with people is something we’ve never seen. She loves cuddles and her demeanor brings joy to everyone. You can tell through her eyes she sees the world differently. While playing fetch with a friend she once jumped on top of a six ft shelf and got her toy! My friend then says: “you ever see a ******dog do that?” The answer was no This all came so sudden. I do have a job but I’ve already taken out loans and borrowed a lot. As a 42 year old man with no kids, my fur babies are all I really have and I’m asking for help humbly and with great humility. She is a blessing to everyone and will make you smile.

Uhtred
Uhtred is a 7 month old Mix-Breed in Lewiston , ME, who needs $2,000 for Surgery to Open the Lower Portion of His Esophagus.
Lewiston, ME
Uhtred was my Christmas present from my bf so my 2yr old boy Groot could have a playmate. My 4yr old female Tori was a rescue who has Erlichia and isnt as active as Groot. My friends dog got pregnant before she was due to be spayed. We’ve had him since he was 8 wks old. He quickly became best friends with my children and other fur babies. Uhtred was diagnosed with Persistent Right Aortic Arch. Basically it’s a congenital anomaly where he has a tube wrapped around the lower portion of his esophagus preventing food from going to his stomach and causing regurgitation. He is on a liquid diet so his food can fit through the small opening and limited activity to prevent regurgitation and choking Uhtred is so full of life and just wants to play but is limited. He has 2 doggie siblings, a ferret, rabbit and 6 feline siblings that he loves to play with. He provides so much love to my kids and emotional support to my daughter recently diagnosed with MS. He lives to talk and cuddle. His favorite thing to do is steal toys from Groot Times are hard right now. Between medical bills, regular bills and groceries I’m struggling to save money for his surgery that has been estimated at 8500 not including pre and post op costs or the surgical consult that is 210

Harper
Harper is a 5 month old Siberian Husky in Limerick , ME, who needs $2,000 for Leg Amputation.
Limerick, ME
Harper came into my life in March. She’s a woolly coat husky from the same parents as my beloved Dasher, who passed away in 2024. I brought her home on March 15 to help heal my heart after losing Dasher, who had been helping me cope with a traumatic event. Harper bonded closely with me and quickly became my shadow, bringing comfort and light when I need it most. She needs me more than ever now. Soon after I brought Harper home, my older sick dog bit her, breaking her front leg in two places. Ross Corner Animal Wellness did X-rays and referred us to Portland Specialty Care. Surgery would require multiple procedures with little chance of success. To avoid chronic pain, the surgeon recommends amputation for the best quality of life. For now she is relying on pain meds for comfort. Harper is SO special. She is the most gentle dog EVER. she cuddles and has such a free spirit. She LOVES KIDS. I have a special needs daughter and cat and now Harper fits right in lol. She brings joy and comfort to our whole household. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her. She is also incredibly beautiful and has a rare husky coat that =makes her stand out. I LOVE HER! I’m a single mom working hard to make ends meet. Between raising my daughters and covering daily expenses, I can’t afford Harper’s surgery and it kills me. She’s family, and I just want to give her the pain-free life she deserves.

Bojangles
Bojangles is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in West Baldwin, ME, who needs $2,000 for Dog Pneumothorax Treated with a Chest Tube.
West Baldwin, ME
Bojangles came into our lives at a chaotic time; we were moving to Maine from New York to a fixer-upper house and leaving behind our families and support system. When we first heard about Bo we were unsure if we were ready for a dog. When we saw a few pictures of him and were told that he needed a new home, we knew what we needed to do. He became the newest member of the family & adventure dog. One of the worst moments of our lives happened when Bo was hit by a car while playing fetch. He has been diagnosed with pneumothorax, air in his chest cavity. He’s currently being treated at Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care, where a chest tube was placed to help him breathe. Though his condition has improved, he’s spent many nights there, resulting in a high medical bill. If you ask anyone who has met him they will all say the same thing, Bo is a loving and energetic dog. Although he is three he still has the full energy of a puppy. He loves to greet everyone he meets and jump up to give them kisses. Even in his current condition, the vet techs tell us he just wants to give them kisses. He loves to play fetch and wrestle with his little brother Frankie. Every day Bo is at the emergency vet healing his lungs and the bill has been growing. We are so happy Bo is making progress and want him to be as healthy as possible when he gets home. As with all medical emergencies, this has come as a financial surprise.

Jelly
Jelly needs $2000 for 24 hr ICU Hospitalization.
Portland, ME
Jelly is a 14 week old French Bulldog and she has been in our home with our family since she was 8 weeks. She is apart of our family and my kids and I love her deeply. Jelly has been admitted to Portland Emergency Veterinary and Specialty Care Hospital while she is receiving 24hr care because she is in critical condition after being diagnosed with Parvovirus. I was told she would the only chance for her to overcome this battle and survive would be to admit her into the ICU with this level of care. Jelly came into our lives by chance, and quickly became a part of our hearts. In the short time she’s been with us, she has brought love, joy, and light. It’s clear that her journey isn’t meant to end yet..Jelly is the sweetest, most beautiful pup, and she means the world to us. As she battles this devastating and aggressive virus we are committed to doing everything we can to bring her home I am a single mom supporting my household on a one-person income. I am doing everything I can to manage our current bills and make ends meet. Jelly’s vet bill to stay in the ICU is estimated to be $12,000-$15,000 and I simply don’t have those funds.

Bow
Bow is a 6 year old Poodle in North Yarmouth, ME, who needs $2,000 for Stomach Surgery.
North Yarmouth, ME
My sister in law bought Bow for Kelsey. Bow is normally a laid back, energetic, family dog. She loves to cuddle and have her belly rubbbed. She is super friendly and faithful. Bow stopped eating. We started with a general vet and are now at the internal medicine specialist. I applied and was approved for $1500 but that is now gone. Not sure how to finance the rest in short order. Donations or a short term loan would be appreciated. I can post the cost once it is known. Bows favorite friend is my daughter, Kelsey, as seen in the photos. She follows me wherever I go and is faithful without end. She loves to cuddle and be held. My wife and I separated creating significant financial struggle. I applied for and was approved a $1500 account with care credit. That amount is gone and I am not eligible for more.

Pusseidon
Pusseidon is a 12 year old Mix-Breed in Westbrook, ME, who needs $2,000 for Emergency Surgery.
Westbrook, ME
Pusseidon came into my life almost 12 years ago now. We found him outside when he was probably around 6-8 weeks old with his little head stuck in a food can. With lots of love and care he grew into a big healthy boy. He has been with me, my husband and our daughter through all of our highs and lows, always there to provide cuddles and comic relief. In January he started vomiting and seemed lethargic. He was treated for symptoms of pancreatitis. We took him to get an ultrasound where they thought he had an obstruction. He was rushed in for surgery at PVESC. They did not find an obstruction but did find a cystic mass on his pancreas. The surrounding lymph nodes were removed for biopsy and we are waiting to see if this will give us a diagnosis. Pusseidon is the sweetest, silliest cat. He loves watching birds and squirrels, cuddling with his people, and lounging on or in rectangular things. He and my five year old have become best friends. His sister, yogi, is a tiny grumpy cat who loves him dearly. Though it may be hard to tell, they are a bonded pair of perfect opposites. His surgery was a huge unexpected expense and his ongoing care needs are growing immensely. My daughter asked us to do everything we can to save him. So, that’s exactly what we’re trying to do.

June Bug
June Bug is a 8 year old Beagle in Gorham, ME, who needs $2,000 for Intestinal Blockage Removal, Tumor Removal.
Gorham, ME
We rescued June Bug in 2019 when she was only 18 months old. She came from Puerto Rico following the hurricane that devasted the area. Since coming to us she has formed a pack with 3 other dogs, a cat, and her best friend, our daughter, Fiona. Junie is the sweetest dog and makes friends with everyone she meets despite her hard beginning to life. June Bug recently had to have emergency surgery to remove an obstruction. The obstruction damaged her intestine resulting in part of her small intestine having to be removed. While in surgery, they discovered a tumor growing on one of her glands, which was removed. She had surgery at Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care. When we first rescued June Bug she was scared of her own shadow. Since coming to us, she has grown into a confident, sweet, loving, and overall amazing member of the family. She acts like the mother to her 3 dog packmates, always grooming them and checking to make sure they are ok. She loves snuggling with everyone, but especially our 4 year old daughter, Fiona. We are a young family just starting out. We are balancing the high cost of living with our small daughter's daycare and other normal expenses. We were not expecting this level of care and we are just praying someone out there is able to help, even a little.

Otto
Otto is a 8 year old Newfoundland in Westbrook, ME, who needs $2,000 for Chemotherapy.
Westbrook, ME
I adopted Otto at 12 weeks old, I was looking for a companion, someone to get me out of the bed in the morning, to make me want to live life to the fullest; then I met Otto. He's been by my side through undergrad, grad school, and the month he got sick, we closed on our first house together! Otto became ill in August of 2024. He was quickly sent to Portland Specialty Care in Portland, Maine to see an Oncologist, where he was diagnosed with Stage 5 Leukemia. In September, with the CHOP treatment protocol, he quickly went into remission. Over the past few weeks, Otto's disease has started to progress, and they formally diagnosed Monocytic Leukemia, a very rare form of cancer. Otto has been my absolute best friend since he came into my life 8 years ago. He is the most loving boy in the world and steals the hearts of everyone comes in contact with. He LOVES to swim in the summer and roll in the snow in the wintertime. He loves fetch, and his favorite toys are squeaky-toy donuts that he got for his birthday and an oversized cow. He's the sweetest boy in the world. Otto's diagnosis was entirely unexpected; things changed rapidly & overnight. His illness came on the week we closed on our first home; with a backyard I've dreamed of giving him since he came into my life. I work multiple jobs to pay for his care but costs are building fast

Lyla
Lyla is a 6 year old Mix-Breed in Silver Lake, NH, who needs $2,000 for Left TPLO- Knee Repair Surgery.
Silver Lake, NH
Lyla joined our family about 6 years ago. She was just 4 months old and had come to New Hampshire through the animal shelter from Puerto Pico. She didn't love the cold at first, but now she likes playing in the snow. We have a small farm with some cattle and chickens. Lyla likes to help with chores in the barn and likes to help when cows get out! She loves to run around the yard and play. Lyla hurt her left rear leg and was limping. We took her to the vet after 3 days of no improvement. She had to rest it for 2 weeks and see if it improved. It didn't. She had x-rays done and it showed ligament damage in both knees. We took her to a specialist who said she had torn ligaments in both rear knees. It can be repaired surgically by Portland Vet Emergency & Specialty Care in Maine. Our little Lyla means the world to us. She's smart, sweet and so affectionate. She loves to run and play with our other dogs. She snuggles with us on the couch and in bed. She loves to just be with us. She greets us at the door with lots of kisses. She will lean on you for hugs and wants to be with you. She likes to go for car rides even though she pants and seems nervous the whole time. We own a small, hometown type of bakery. We rent our space and also purchased the building adjacent to our current location. Our plan is to renovate that and move into that. It's not cheap so we are trying to do things ourselves. We break even at best, so we don't have extra

Dandy
Dandy is a 4.5 year old Dalmatian in Fairfield, ME, who needs $1,827 for Addison's Disease Crisis Diagnosis and Treatment.
Fairfield, ME
2.5 years ago I adopted Dandy from a Humane Society up here in Maine. Since then, he's gotten to live the life of a spoiled dog - plenty of treats, time on the sofa, multiple pet beds, and tons of toys - while (trying) to get along with my cat, Ciri. When I first adopted Dandy, the shelter told me that he had anxiety, which we've been working on since that day 2.5 years ago. Recently, Dandy experienced a crisis. After taking him to multiple emergency vets, including spending 24 hours at the Portland Emergency Vet Hospital, he was diagnosed with Addison's Disease, and will need treatment for the rest of his life. Surprisingly, Dandy loves to just hang out and sleep. He is a big love bug, whose favorite past time is getting butt scratches. If he knows you, then he lets you use him as a big teddy bear. If he doesn't know you, then he'll eat grass as a way to self-soothe. He loves his toys, especially squeakers. His absolutely favorite is to throw his squeaky ball around after holding it in his mouth. I don't have a lot of money anymore. Within the last 1.5 years, my financial situation quickly changed and I've been personally struggling since. Suddenly, I was now faced with an overwhelmingly expensive pet bill from 2 separate emergency vets due to his crisis.

Jack
Jack is a 1-year-old Brittany in Sweden, ME, who needs $2,000 for Gastrostomy and Enterostomy to Remove Foreign Body.
Sweden, ME
Jack Jack is the youngest member of our family of 6 humans. He is currently our only pet after having to put down our sweet Katie girl of 13 years. He is our family and best fur friend. Jack is a ball of fun-loving energy. He loves his humans and we love Jack's spunk! He loves to make sure we are paying attention and he also pays close attention to every move we make. Jack is an avid bird-watcher, often you'll find him staring intently out the window or outside still as a statue pointing at all the songbirds. Jack Jack is fast, too...but not lately... Jack loves to give hugs, he will pull you close as he gives sweet puppy eyes. He is a sweet snuggler and often is either on or beside his brother and sisters, mum and dad. Unfortunately curiosity got the dog. Like most puppies, Jack likes to try everything in his mouth. Jack chewed and swallowed one of our daughters mini plastic dolls that led to severe pain, vomiting and ultimately an emergency surgery for a complete obstruction and bunching of his intestines that soon would have been fatal. We are so grateful to the emergency team and surgeon that saved Jack. This unexpected Emergency Surgery and its extraordinary cost has put us in a financial bind. Currently only one of us is working and supporting a household of 4 children while I complete my nursing studies. This kind of financial hardship can burden and stress any household

Knox
Knox is a 6-year-old Mastiff Mix in Searsport, ME, who needs $2,000 for Surgery for Torn LPL.
Searsport, ME
Knox was a rescue from a shelter in Arkansas at 6 weeks old. He is now 6 years old and lives with his sister Zenia in Maine. He loves being in the snow! Knox is a big boy weighing 125 lbs.! He is not big on exercise, but we try. He enjoys laying on the couch watching TV and running to the window to bark at the garbage track stealing our garbage! He has a love hate relationship with his sister, Zenia. Knox is the sweetest boy who smiles when his tummy is rubbed. He loves sleeping between his humans on the bed. He can't jump on the bed now since he tire his acl in his leg. This makes him sad. Knox has a torn ACL in his leg. He limps and has trouble jumping. He went to see an Orthopedic Veternarian at Portland Veterinary Specialty Care Hospital. Dr. Meghan Sullivan, who recommended surgery. Knox's surgery estimate is $6500. It will take us quite awhile to raise that even with the second job and overtime his Dad is working. Please help Knox get his surgery so he doesn't have to be in pain and be sad.

Red
Red is a 2-year-old Bloodhound in Vinalhaven, ME, who needs $2,000 for Amputation and Chemotherapy.
Vinalhaven, ME
Red is currently living in Maine with his adopted dog sister and his human brother. My husband and I got Red from a reputable breed in Arkansas because Bloodhounds are very hard to find in Maine. It had been a dream to welcome a bloodhound to our family and after weeks for research that dream finally came true when Red entered our lives. Red is a one of a kind dog. We say "we'll never get one like him again." His sweet and goofy personality shines while he's interacting with any human or his dog friends. Him and his dog sister also share a very special bond. He's a mellow boy and his favorite resting spot is the couch. He also tends to think he is a lap dog and if I'm in the lazy boy recliner he climbs right up in my lap. Red is special in so many ways. Not only does he have to sweetest personality but he makes us laugh constantly. Every time he gets a favorite toy or treat when hes done with it for the moment he'll take it and hide it. If there's a blanket around he'll use his teeth to drag it to that item hes stuffed in the couch and he'll cover it up using his nose and the blanket. Red has been diagnosed with bone cancer. He slipped on a rug one day and within the week it hadn't gotten better so we took him to get checked out. His x-rays showed Osteosarcoma. Luckily there's no sign of a spread into his chest yet so we are racing the clock. Red will need his right hind leg amputated and 4-6 treatments of chemotherapy after. This has been a sudden major expense. We've already spent thousands on diagnostics and the funds are running low. I would give absolutely anything to have Red healthy again. Our animals are our kids and we'll do everything we can to save them.
