Elsie

Elsie is a 7 Year Old Alaskan Malamute in Chicago, IL, Who Needs $12,300 for L TPLO.

CHICAGO, IL

We got Elsie by way of a family friend in February of 2018; she was 8 weeks old. When we got her, we had two other dogs and two cats, it is now just her and my sister's 15-year-old cat. We live in a 2-bedroom, 2nd floor apartment. Elsie started to limp with her left hind leg in June, it became more frequent and more pronounced as summer progressed. She was assessed as having pulled a muscle and prescribed pain meds. After the pain meds ran out, it wasn't better. We took her to Vetco, they took x-rays, they concluded she needed surgery and referred us to specialty vet hospitals. We chose Premier Veterinary Group. Elsie will jump into your arms like she's still a puppy, lick your face and make you fall in love with her. She loves to play, especially with her friends. She is also very gentle with smaller animals and children. She is even gentle with my sister's very grumpy cat. She is spoiled, thanks to me and her admirers, and clever. She is an escape artist. She is protective of her family. We love her. I am a teacher's aide for CPS; I love my work. Unfortunately, Elsie's torn CCL requires a $7,300 surgery so she can have 80% -90% mobility again. There is also a needed MRI to fully assess a recent seizure. This will cost an additional $5,000.

Chowder

Chowder is a 3 year old Chihuahua in Chicago, IL, who needs $2,000 for Ovariohysterectomy and Hernia Repair.

Chicago, IL

Chowder fka Betty White came to us from a Chicagoland rescue after being found roaming the South Side with a massive tennis-ball sized hernia. She needed an urgent foster and we couldn't say no. One year later, she’s become an integral member of our family. She's sweet, silly, and full of love. Chowder has brought joy to our home and helped heal her brother’s heart after he lost his bonded pair. Chowder was found with an extremely large bilateral inguinal hernias. After her first surgery failed, she was referred to a board-certified surgeon for a second repair. Unfortunately, after initial success, the hernia returned after 3 months. She’s since been diagnosed with ovarian remnant syndrome and will undergo an ovariohysterectomy and final hernia repair. Like most small dogs, Chowder packs a huge personality into her 10-pound frame. A street-savvy survivor turned spoiled princess, she’s still figuring out this “home” thing. She loves bothering her older brother, taking slow strolls, and making absolutely unhinged faces in her sleep. Despite her past, she struts through life with sass, snuggles, and zero regrets. After two major surgeries, the financial burden has been overwhelming. Her hernia is considered pre-existing, so insurance won’t cover it. Chowder has brought light back into our lives after losing our first pup and her recovery means hope and healing for our family.

Good Hank

Good Hank is a 6 year old Mix-Breed in Chicago , IL, who needs $2,000 for Perineal Urethrostomy.

Chicago, IL

Good Hank was discovered on the evening of December 22,2019. He was in an alley behind a coffee shop next to a dumpster, snuggly wrapped in a towel and stuffed in a shoebox by those who discarded him. We took him to the nearest vet. He was covered in fleas and had worms. He also had trauma to his hind legs so he was unable to walk. Over the next few months we slowly nursed him back to health. Hanky was taken to the ER last week after straining to urinate. He was given medication and put on a special diet plan to help. A few days passed and he was suddenly unable to produce urine. He was taken back to Premier Vet Group and had a catheter placed to help him clear his bladder. 4/6/2025 he was released. This morning we had to take him back in because his urethra was blocked yet again. Right off the bat I knew Hanky would be the light of my life. A literal miracle who was abandoned by those who didn’t care. Anywhere I walk in my house he follows. If I’m lying down he’s either right on top of me nearly suffocating me with love or very close by. We never take our eyes off of each other. We understand each other on a level no other human could truly understand. The initial ER visits with stay were about $4000. After resubmission this morning we were quoted at another $4000. It looks like Good Hank will need surgery and that will cost nearly $6000. I’m at my financial limit and am in desperate need of help to save my best friend.

Blue

Blue is a 6 month old American Pit Bull Terrier in Chicago , IL, who needs $2,000 for Leptospirosis, Kidney Failure, and Liver Failure.

Chicago, IL

Blue came into our lives about five months ago when we rescued him from a friend who found a litter of pitbull puppies. The moment we saw him, we knew he was meant to be part of our family. His beautiful blue eyes captured our hearts, which is why we chose the name “Blue.” He’s been a bright light in our home ever since, and we are so lucky to have him. Me and my wife, son, and now Blue together. Blue has been very sick recently, battling leptospirosis, which led to kidney and liver failure. It’s been an incredibly emotional time for our family, but I’m relieved to share that Blue’s is at Premier Veterinary Group. The team there has been monitoring him closely, and we’re seeing signs of progress every day. His kidney and liver functions are stabilizing, and his condition is improving. Blue has only been in our lives for five months, but in that short time, he’s brought an immeasurable amount of love and healing to our family. We rescued him when he was just one month old, and since then, he’s become a true light in our lives. His presence has brought us closer, healed old wounds, and filled our home with laughter and warmth. The fear of losing him feels almost unbearable. 😢 I haven’t been working for the last 2 years due to work injury. Blue came into my life for comparison and at current moment my wife is the only one working full-time while I deal with my therapy and doctor visits to get better to return to work.

Sherman

Sherman is a 1 year old American Shorthair in Oak Park, IL, who needs $2,000 for Hospitalization, Stabilization, and Possible Transfusion.

Oak Park, IL

Sherman is our sweet little baby kitty that we adopted 12.05.23. He came into our lives with his brother pluma, who we lost to FIP a few months ago. Sherman just turned one the day after my birthday, he is a big orange lover boy. We have recently moved into a new apartment and he moved with us. We like to call him Shermy wormy. The reason we named him sherman is because his orig. name was Sherbert We are seeking funds to treat Sherm for pleural effusion and anemia, thought to be caused by FIP. He has elevated protein levels and low platelets in his blood. We need help to cover the costs of the procedure to drain and test the fluid surrounding his lungs so he can breathe a little easier and so he can be at a baseline with his anemia. The hospital is called premier veterinary group- chicago. Sherman is so special to our little family. Hes a talker and very food motivated, this orange loves wet food. Shermy is sweet to every person he meets. He loves being held and hugged especially by his mama. He will let people give him belly rubs, plopping down and doing a little roll. His favorite treats are tender meat sticks and wet licky treats. he also loves to play and will even play fetch. We recently just moved and this illness came so suddenly and we are left with no emergency funds. I can afford the FIP treatment, however, the treatment for his lungs and blood is more pressing and something we just dont have. it would mean everything to us to get him better

Guppy

Guppy is a 7-year-old Maltipoo in Chicago, IL, who needs $2,000 for Left Sided Hemilaminectomy at T12-L1.

Chicago, IL

Guppy was a gift and has been with me since he was a baby. He’s currently 7 years old. He has a fur brother named Max. They enjoy each other’s company and play together. Guppy loves attention. He loves being cuddled and when the family shows him love. His favorite thing is playing with his toys and playing catch. When he is around kids he gets even more excited. Guppy is special because he always asks for attention. He will beg for cuddles. He is one happy dog and always makes us smile with his running and jumping everywhere. Guppy suffered an accident playing. Jumped off the couch and he landed wrong so he ruptured a disk and lost function on his hind legs. I took him to Premier Veterinary Group in Chicago. The vet did an MRI and they had told me it would depend on results if he would need surgery or if there was no hope and I would have to think about options like having him on meds or euthanized. When I received the bill for Guppy’s treatment, I was shocked because I was not able to afford the amount. I have been unemployed for a year now and I have a daughter I’m caring for.

Photo of Ash

Ash

Ash is a 3-year-old American pit bull in MELROSE PARK, IL, who needs $1,700 for Abdominal ultrasound and Endoscopy.

MELROSE PARK, IL

Ash came into my when my Girlfriend told me that her sisters dog was on the verge of being on the streets due to landlord not wanting dogs. So we took Ash in because I didn't want him to go to a shelter or worse. When we got him he was in bad shape barely fed and under weight. We were able to get him back on track and has been happy in our home. Ash is usually the center of attention, he loves kids and a cuttlefish. He loves to meet new people and get attention from people we meet. Everyone loves Ash and he gives off a calm energy wherever he goes. He also loves food and is the first to clear his bowl when given his food. He also loves to play with his Brother Banjo another male Pit. Currently Ashs sudden pressing health need came at a bad time where I was not prepared financially to cover such a large Veterinary cost. I had 450 in my account but with Ash needing the upstruction removed would cost me alot more than what I currently could afford. Currently Ash is dealing with an Abstruction in his digestive track, and if left untreated or removed will be fatal for Ash. We took him to Premier Veterinary Group for treatment and they were going to do X-rays, but unfortunately had to stop due to the price of the examination. They wanted 400 for just the X-rays alone. Ash is special because of his calm nature and loving personality. Ash Is the type of dog that will put his head on your lap and stair into your eyes and the head rubs. Boy does he love his head rubs, and belly rubs. He loves my son and would stay by his side all day if you let him. Ash and Banjo the other male love to play and sleep together at night they have a strong bond together.
