Cartwright

Cartwright is a 3-year-old Boxer in Saint Louis, MO, who needs $1,600 for Heartworm Treatment.

Saint Louis, MO

Cartwright was a foster turned adoption. He was in the shelter for 8 months before we got him. He was said to be aggressive but when I came to foster he laid his gaint head on my chest look up into my eyes and I knew Id be a foster fail adopted two days later it has been the best choice Ive ever made! Cartwright will only sleep with me and it has to be right next to my face. He likes long walks and throwing ball in the park. He likes dog treats but prefers peanut butter or pizza. Hes only been with us for three months but hes part of the family it seems unfair that after such a hard like and 8 months in tje shelter that hes now sick and has to be crated keep from physical activity. Cartwright is very scared of his sister brie the cat but he loves his vet and thinks they should have more dates but I told he we cant afford any dates right now. He loves his daddy Zack and daddy layden very much when they leave the house with out him it breaks his heart so he barks and crys to let the whole world know! Cartwright was tested positive for heartworm. He isnt symptomatic yet. He hates his kennel and I can see why when you've spent 8 months in one at the shelter only let out twice to poop day, and no one wants to play with you because they think you look scary. I'm self employed and already behind on rent and unexpected 1200 dollars will take me to long to come up with and still pay bills and food. I wish I didnt have to ask but I'm thankful for waggle and everyones help.

KING

KING is a 7-year-old Yorker Mix in ST LOUIS, MO, who needs $835 for Mass Removal.

ST LOUIS, MO

My little King is a college baby. His previous owner got him when she was still in college. When she graduated and started working full-time he was left alone more often by himself. That’s when he was brought to me. The first time we met he was full of kisses and playful,so happy to be around us. King is protective, loving and caring even with the other little doggie that I have. King is always on schedule he knows when it’s time for breakfast lunch and dinner and when it’s time to go to bed. When he wants something he comes to me and grunts as if he is talking. He loves his doggy treats especially doggy bones, he even loves my other doggy “s bone. At the end of the day going to bed on time laying on his back and snoring. Just listening to his snores relaxes me. This is an unplanned very sudden major medical expense. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to save money for unexpected emergency expenses. I love my little guy so much, he’s my furry baby. He looks to me for care and protection and that’s what I’m going to do. Every once in a while I would feel little bumps on him but the vet explains that they are normal. But one day I felt a lump on his chest it did not feel like the other bumps. After a doctors visit and cytology testing Dr Alicia at StL Veterinary Ctr expressed concern that the lab test shows some suspicious cells (cancer cells) and the best thing would be to remove the mass. When I ask King for a hug, 50% of the time he turns around and takeoff running only to bring his toy to me so that we can play fetch. He loves to get his hair brushed it’s the best massage in the world for him. He shows me his biggest smile and I love it. He is a happy little dog. If he sees me sad he always comes to me and licked my face it’s his way of loving me and showing that he cares.

Jefferson

Jefferson is an 8-year-old Boxer in Saint Louis, MO, who needs $2,000 for a lung lobectomy.

SAINT LOUIS, MO

Jefferson has been part of my life for almost 4 years now. I was fostering through a rescue that worked with our vet clinic. We had another boxer who needed a playmate and since we felt comfortable with the breed we decided that the rescue had a male boxer for foster that our female would have a field day chasing each other around the backyard. I received him in April 2015, when the rescue seized him from a breeder down in the boothill, after being with the clinic for a few months. When I got him home we noticed that he was deathly afraid of males and any unknown noises. His safe spot was his kennel in which he would lay in day and night with the door open. We would have to go out in the backyard for him to go outside to potty. Whenever a sound he wasn't familiar to was heard he darted for his kennel or when a male walked into the room. You could tell the breeder had to been male and not treated him appropriately. After a few months of desensitizing him from males and as many sounds as possible we started attending events and met up with a few potential adopters. We had no luck because his true personality wouldn't come out to strangers as it did with our family. I realized at that time that he was meant to be with our family and would keep growing into the amazing dog he is today.
