Gizmo

Gizmo is a 6 year old Mix-Breed in Milwaukee , WI, who needs $1,000 for Gastric Dilation Volvulus (GDV).

Milwaukee, WI

I've had Gizmo for about 6 years. She was born from a previous dog I've had and I've kept her ever since. Although Gizmo isn't a licensed therapy dog, I don't think I would be here without her. She contributes greatly to my mental health. Gizmo has been with me through thick and thin and, I couldn't imagine my life without her. It hurts to see her in so much pain. And I want so badly to help her. Recently I noticed her stomach is extremely bloated. She's hiding, really eating, not drinking water, shaking and not really active. She is usually a cheerful dog. But she is in so much pain. I'm afraid if I don't get her out now, she won't make it. I'm guessing she has bloat which is severe dogs and may require surgery. Gizmo means a lot to me specifically. Me and Gizmo always lay together, always play together, and support each other. Wherever I am you'll see Gizmo. If I'm sad I go to Gizmo and I usually feel better. I have a lot of trauma, a lot of mental health issues and, I feel like Gizmo is my number one support. She proves that you don't need human love to feel loved and complete. My family lives paycheck to paycheck. Sometimes it's hard to pay for groceries sometimes it's not. But we definitely did not expect a vet visit to pop up expectedly. Unfortunately we didn't have time to prepare or save up money for this a vet visit.

Teddy

Teddy is a 1 year old Mix-Breed in Milwaukee, WI, who needs $600 for X-ray & Exam.

Milwaukee, WI

Teddy was welcomed to our family as a baby. He has been a joy to us for almost two years now and we love him so much! He’s so sweet, friendly and loving! He loves all children, playing tug o war, watching tv, and car rides. He lives with two other smaller doggies (Yorkie & Shihtzu) who he loves to play with as well. We named him Teddy because he’s so lovable like a teddy bear. Yesterday, our boy some how got loose out of the yard which he never has done before and when we found him, he was injured. His front leg is swollen, he can’t walk on it and our boy is in pain. We are desperate for help. We’re not sure what happened (car or person) who did this, but we did take him to Bluepearl ER VET and they’re charging $270 before even seeing him on top of other costs. Teddy is special to us because he is part of our family. He loves playing with my children, me, and his other two, four legged family members. Teddy is such a sweet and smart dog. He’s lovable to just about everyone and is a joy to be around. He sit and watch tv with us, follow me room to room and just keep me company, and loves to lay on my children’s legs. He loves to give kisses and play. Right now, I am on a medical leave due to a high risk pregnancy and now, Im due any day now. I have children and expenses that I had to take care of with the little money that I did have. This was so unexpected for us and I’d be so VERY grateful to have him better again.

Archie

Archie is a 6-year-old Catahoula in Saint Francis, WI, who needs $2,000 for Foreign Body Removal Surgery.

Saint Francis, WI

Archie came into my life at 3 weeks old. His mom was sick and couldn't care for her puppies. He was bottle fed and came to work with me in a picnic basket. He's my baby. He's been with me thru many losses and has been my constant companion. My only child recently left for college, and I've been so lost. It's just him and I, now and most days I don't think I'd get out of bed without him. At one point there was 5 of us. My 23 year old siamese cat and him were unlikely bffs. They took care of each other. Punky has been gone 2 years now. My ex partner is the reason he loves boys. They were inseparable, although we weren't together, they picked up where they left off every time. we lost Chris last December and it's been so so hard. Now it's just him and I. I cant imagine losing him. Archie is a soul reader. He became my emotional support dog when he was just over a year, because he always knows when he's needed. His personality is so sweet and he is so affectionate He is also a herding dog and is my bossy shadow. He will demandingly usher me to bed, when he's tired, then abandon me when i comply, just because he has major FOMO and needs to sort his people Archie has been vomiting for almost 3 weeks off and on, and i finally was able to find the funds to get him to the vet and. he ate something that looks like a pacifier. he's not eating. he's skinny and lethargic. I amnstruggling hard these days. I'm fighting a eviction because my apartment won't recognize him as an ESA. The salon I've been employed at for over 6 years, suddenly closed.Im stuck Archie is my best friend. He is my child and I cannot bare to be without him. He is family. If I were to receive assistance, I could look at the world with less jaded eyes. i would pay it forward in numerous ways. I have lost so much.. we need each other.

Photo of Nala

Nala

Nala is a 9-month-old Chihuahua in Milwaukee, WI, who needs $2,000 for Orthopedic Surgery.

Milwaukee, WI

Nala came into our family as a special puppy born with no tail. She's like one of my children and I love her unconditional. Nala does have a sister same age that lives in the same household and these 2 can't be separated. Nala is a spoiled special dog that is loved by the whole family. Nala sleeps in her bed with her sister unless I allow her to sleep with me. She also has siblings such as my kids that like to sleep with her as well. She's very silly loving and hyper and gets a lot of attention from everyone everywhere. Nala has just 1 friend and that's her sister. She has her favorite toys such as a squeaky herseys bar and a chocolate kiss that she tore the tug a war piece of of playing with her sister. She's the light of my life and the light at the end of my tunnel she makes me.smole and laugh with her goofy self. This is for an emergency such as a vroken leg from a fall and the only thing that's going to fix and save her leg is surgery. I'm in need of help paying for her tobget the surgery to make her feel better and not so sad. The treating veterinarian clinic is St Paul veterinarian clinic located in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Unexpected major expenses without an emergency fund. It would be a blessing to have my baby healthy again and able to walk. I'm a low income parent and this took a big tole on me and without the finances it breaks my heart my baby can't get health again.

Photo of Atticus

Atticus

Atticus is a 10-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Milwaukee, WI, who needs $1,331 for Dental Extraction.

Milwaukee, WI

Atticus was adopted at 10 years old from a local animal shelter in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. I knew which cat I wanted to adopt that day- the loud one! The worker at the shelter told me, “I was wondering when someone would take him home!” I’m very glad I did. Since then, he has lived alongside me as my only roommate. We survived 2020, and all of the craziness that followed, together. Atticus is my only roommate- because I work remotely and attend my online college courses from home, we spend a lot of time together. Atticus and I have an established routine at home and he follows me almost everywhere that I go. Atticus is friendly towards everyone who visits our space and never fails to make sure that they know who runs the household! (Spoiler: it’s him!) Atticus is a charmer. He is so loving to everyone and greets anyone who enters our apartment. You’d think he paid rent by the way he commands attention. Even though he is a senior kitty, he loves to have fun and play with his many toys. He loves to purr, sit on my keyboard while I’m working, and pose for photographs. Atticus was recently seen by Dr. Rieck. Atticus has suffered from an ongoing canine tooth injury. He is in need of dental care to treat this condition and extract the tooth. He is having trouble eating his food. Because is his pain, his demeanor has changed and has become more withdrawn. I am a full time college student living alone and working two jobs. I am usually able to support myself and my pet independently, but the $815- $1,300 quote for treatment of his illness is an unexpected expense that is almost impossible for me to come up with.

Photo of Luna

Luna

Luna is a 7-year-old Pitbull Mix in Oak Creek, WI, who needs $1,393 for Tail Amputation / Mast Cell Tumor Removal Surgery & Biopsy.

Oak creek, WI

We rescued Luna from the WI Humane Society. We’d gone to see another dog, but it wasn’t a good fit. So we looked around & when we saw her… we couldn’t help but love her. There was this 2 year old, small brindle pitbull, shivering in the corner with her tail tucked between her legs. Her surrender papers showed she was a failed fighting dog that kids offloaded on someone who turned her in to WHS. When we got Luna home, her dog brothers Jack & Joker didn’t LOVE her right away but she was definitely the annoying little sister to them. We worried how having a pitbull would be when we had our youngest child, but anyone that knows Luna or Harlow, know that they are literally Best Friends. Harlow has even tried to ride luna like a pony. Luna is our sweet bundle of energy. Luna is a failed fighting dog w/ too much energy & a heart of gold. When you first meet her she will run laps around & jump all over you. But give her long enough & she will snuggle & lay on you like a lap dog. Luna also licks… everyone and everything! Luna also thinks she is a cat. Do you have a laser pointer? She will chase it forever. Or a bug too flying around? She will pounce! On Saturday Sept 10th, we took Luna to Saint Paul Vet Clinic & she was diagnosed w/ a Mast Cell Tumor on the base of her tail. Recommended treatment is to have the tumor removed, which also involves removing her tail. Then having a biopsy done to see if the tumor is benign or if other treatment is needed. There is some risk of paralysis from the surgery because of its location. A lot of you know we lost our old boy Joker about a year ago. We weren’t prepared for this to be a potentially life threatening issue for Luna. Being able to ensure we can get the care we need for Luna & making sure Harlow’s snuggle buddy gets healthy means everything to us.
