Jack Frost
A Senior Dog’s Story of Survival: Support Jack Frost’s Golden Years
Houston, TX • ThisIsHouston
This is the story of Jack Frost, a 12-year-old dog who has endured more than anyone should, but is now ready to be loved in his golden years. His tale isn’t one of abandonment — it’s one of survival, of hope, and of second chances. Jack Frost was found wandering the streets of Sugar Land. Alone, confused, and scared, this sweet senior boy had nowhere to turn. Thankfully, a local shelter reached out for help when they discovered that Jack had a microchip. But the mystery deepened when the chip traced back to a senior living facility with no information about Jack’s family or history. The facility confirmed that they do not allow pets, and no one came forward to claim him. The shelter couldn’t bear to leave him behind, so they contacted ThisIsHouston. At 12 years old, Jack’s body has been through more than it should have. His bloodwork showed that he is in stage 2 of kidney disease, and he is now on a special diet to help manage his condition. Jack’s body is frail — skin and bones. His coat is a tangled mess, and he is blind in his left eye. His journey toward better health will require ongoing care, dedication, and medical attention. Jack’s resilience is nothing short of remarkable and it's a miracle he survived on the streets. Let’s make Jack’s story one of hope and healing. Please donate to help Jack get the comfort, love, and care he has always deserved! Update 2/12/25: After a couple visits with an ophthalmologist, it was determined that the best course of action was to remove his bad eye. He also had a dental at the same time and surprisingly only needed 2 teeth removed. He is recovering well so far in his loving foster home.

Sammie
Sammie is a 8-year-old Boxer in Tomball , TX, who needs $2,000 for Mass Removal.
Tomball, TX
We rescued Sammie in January 202o from a shelter. She is the third boxer we have rescued in the that 18 years. Sammie is also deaf but that doesn’t bother her. She is my son’s playmate and cuddle buddy to everyone else. She lives to play chase the ball and take walk. Sammie is an indoor dog that sleeps either with mom/dad or her human brother. She loves being a couch potato and will watch sports shows if that’s all her brothers will do. Sammie came into our life after our second boxer passed away unexpectedly. She helped us in the grieving process. Sammie has her own special bond with each of us. Sammie has developed a large mass on her hip that will need to be removed surgically. The mass has not slowed her down but it is growing at a rapid pace. Unfortunately due to human medical bills we are unable to afford the necessary surgery Sammie needs. The mass has grown rapidly and it needs to be removed asap.

Hope
Hope is a one-year-old Pit Bull mix in Houston, TX, who needs $2,000 for urgent leg surgery.
Houston, TX • Cypress Lucky Mutt Rescue
Hope dog never knew love. She never knew what it was like to have a soft bed to sleep in or a family who cared for her. But when volunteers with Cypress Lucky Mutt Rescue first saw her, they saw a spark in her eyes and took a chance saving her. "Ten months ago, Hope came into our lives," her foster mom, Susan G., tells Waggle. "She was rescued off the coast walking across a levy, starved of food, love, and safety. She was skin and bones and terrified of everyone and everything. We took her in and named her Hope. She had been through so much in her short life, but there was still "hope" in her eyes. We fell in love with this beautiful girl." Hope was definitely a challenge at first. "She had a rough start; she was so weak and couldn't be around others because of extreme fear. With time, love, patience, and lots of training Hope has learned to trust most humans and can be around other dogs. She loves her family, including the children. She's wonderful with our other dog and foster puppies. She loves to play fetch and find it and then suckle on one of her stuffed animals," Susan says. As Hope started to blossom, it became clear she had difficulty getting around. Susan brought her to The Oaks Veterinary Clinic, where the medical team discovered she has ACL tears in both her back legs. "She likely sustained trauma to her legs before being rescued," Susan says. "The veterinarians think she was most likely hit by a car while living on the streets. I am at a loss for words. Hope is a survivor, and she didn't come all this way not to get the help that she needs. She needs two separate surgeries along with physical therapy." Now Susan and the rescue are trying to fundraise the money for Hope to get her life-changing surgery. "This was certainly unexpected," Susan says. "We knew she walked differently but had no idea that she had sustained such injuries. The cost for both surgeries exceeds $6,500. She will also need a wheelchair and rehab. I want to do whatever I can to help Hope have the best life!" And after she's fixed up, Susan isn't letting her go! Hope is home. "Hope is my soul dog," Susan says. "She came into my life at the right time. Some say we saved her, but I think she saved me. My "Little Hippo" mended a hole in my heart after losing two of our pets. Together we overcome our fears and build up our confidence every day through training, love, outings. Her favorite is car rides. I love that she likes to sleep under the covers with her head on my chest."
