Tux

Tux is a 4 year old Mix-Breed in Norwalk, CT, who needs $16,000 for Emergency Surgery for Severe Sepsis.

Norwalk, CT

Tux is a 4-year-old rescue from Texas, believed to have been abused as a stray (he had BB gun scars that have healed). He came to me fearful of people, noises, and even grass. Now, he’s playful, loving, and full of trust. Tux has helped me survive depression and is my constant companion in a safe, loving home Tux is critically ill with severe sepsis and is undergoing high-risk emergency surgery. His condition is life-threatening, and even with surgery, his survival is uncertain. He is hospitalized at MedVet in Norwalk, CT, receiving intensive care, monitoring, and treatment from a specialized veterinary team. Tux is incredibly special — he chose me the moment he stared into my eyes. He’s playful, affectionate, and deeply bonded to me, providing comfort during my darkest moments. Tux is gentle with family and friends, loves cuddles and attention, and his joyful personality lights up every room. He’s more than a pet — he’s family and my reason for hope. Tux’s emergency bills have already reached $12,000, and I’m struggling to keep up while drowning in student loans and other debts. I’ve been financially independent since 18, lost my dad at 13. Having Tux healthy again would mean everything.

Nikki

Nikki is a 11 year old Shiba Inu in Norwalk, CT, who needs $2,000 for Kidney Failure 2-day/Overnight Hospitalization.

Norwalk, CT

Nikki is an orange 11 year old Shiba Inu that lives on the 3rd floor of an apartment with me and both my mom and dad. We have had Nikki since she was a couple weeks old and she was always very happy, full of energy, goofy, and loved to run everywhere, until these last couple of months. This fundraiser has been created to help my family pay for our 11 year old Shiba Inu, Nikki’s, emergency surgeries (she has kidney disease, arthritis, an enlarged bladder, sudden muscle weakness, and a foreign mass/potential cancer and had an enlarged and fluid filled uterus with cysts and tummy swelling). We had just got her back today 08/19 from hospitalization after 2 days... kidney failure. Nikki is and has been my best friend for more than 11 years. Her beautiful and heartwarming smile and crazy zoomies always filled us with so much happiness and laughter. She would always bump us with her nose when she wanted attention, to play, or eat what we were eating. But, what was once our energetic and happy baby is now lethargic and unhappy. She barely wants to walk now and sleeps often. The vet bills have already accumulated to over $8,000 in the last couple of weeks and the next surgery is going to throw that overall total to over $15,000. In total, after all of the urgent care, advanced testing, and further imaging the sum will be approximately $20,000.

Vincent

Vincent is a 2-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Norwalk, CT, who needs $1,400 for Intravenous Fluids, Antibiotics, and Hospitalization.

Norwalk, CT • Pet Animal Welfare Society of CT (PAWS)

Vincent, 2-year-old domestic short hair cat. Came to PAWS in October 2023 found near St. Vincents Hospital in Bridgeport, hence his name. He showed up in a feral group, but it became clear he was a once owned, indoor cat and that adoption was the better decision for him versus outside life. He had some nails that had grown into a curling position towards his paws. Overall he was healthy. Vincent gets along well with other cats. Even while sick Vincent is excellent with people, loves to interact. Enjoys rubs behind his ears and neck. A steady eating appetite. Vincent is polydactyl, having an extra toe on his paws and making the paw look like extra big mittens. It makes the staff and volunteers smile to watch him knead his big mitts on his bed or blanket and hear his purr. Vincent developed URI and most likely calicivirus. The congestion worsened and painful sores around his eyes and in his mouth. Overnight stay at MedVet. Dr Amber Koch was treating veteran with We are a non-profit animal rescue organization, relying on donations. Vincent is an extremely loving and adoptable cat. It was heartbreaking to see him so debilitated, in so much pain. We are overjoyed to have him back with us and on the road to recovery. We want nothing mor

Chico

Chico is a 1-year-old Chihuahua in Norwalk, CT, who needs $2,000 for Corrective Osteotomy.

Norwalk, CT • Pet Animal Welfare Society of CT (PAWS)

Chico came to our shelter from New Haven Animal Control. He was found as stray. Due to his anxious personality and seems to have the need to want and enjoy company, we found a foster with a chihuahua that Chico has been enjoying playing and snuggling with. The same foster will be his medical foster post-surgery. During his stay at our shelter, Chico loved snuggling in the arms on laps of staff and volunteers, especially our interns. He is a social eater, which means he eats his meals in the company of a human in his presence. When introduced to foster "mom" and her chihuahua, Chico was ready to play with his young energy. Chico loves all! Even with a injury and lameness to his front leg, Chico is agile to get upright on his back legs and get your attention. He greets everyone with such cuteness of smiling eyes. He is extra special for a young dog and being introduced to new environments of two animal shelters, and new faces, he adapted very well with his cheerful attitude of rushing to make new friends. Chico has a malunion of a right RU fracture leading to an angular limb valgus deformity. This is causing lameness and intermittent non-weight bearing. Abnormal weight bearing through these joints can lead to arthritis in these joints. Corrective osteotomy will allow for return to normal limb use. PAWS relies on donations, fundraisers, and grants to assist in the costs of operations, animal care, food to medical costs. Helping Chico with a surgery will help him not be overlooked for adoption if an adopter had to take on this expensive veterinary cost.

Astro

Astro is a 1-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Bridgeport, CT, who needs $1,500 for Overnight Stay due to Urinary Blockage.

Bridgeport, CT

Astro was born right in my home. He is the only cat we kept from the litter and all his siblings were rehomed. He has been with us ever since. He is only 1 year and 3 months old. He is gray and white and his birthday is on 2/24. He has a cute little spot on his nose and a white tip on his tail. His nickname is Kitty. Astro is often called “a chill dude” by everyone at home. He’s very calm and unproblematic. He is well behaved and super affectionate. He purrs loud and loves head bumps. On any given day you might find him hanging off of Adalyse’s bed waiting for pets. He is also very vocal. He likes to make his presence known. He will almost always announce himself with a loud meow. Astro is special to a of us here. He is part of the family and we love him dearly. The house is missing his loud meows and purrs. Also the middle of the night chest cuddles. He loves kneading dough on all of our tummies here. His girlfriend (our other cat) Mary Jane also misses her boy. They are like two peas in a pod. Astro was treated for a Urinary Obstruction on 5/13. He was given a good prognosis and was sent home. Although most cats recover nicely, astro is still having complications from the removal. He has blood in his urine and he is refusing to eat. Our vet recommended a 24-72 hour stay and more tests. I already paid the first visit in full and as a single mom of 7 can’t afford such a high bill back to back. I only had $1000 in savings and it is now depleted. Any help is appreciated.

Highway

Highway is a 2-year-old cat in Norwalk, CT, who needs $2,000 for surgical intervention with the need for metal plates to stabilize both fractures.

Norwalk, CT • Pet Animal Welfare Society

Highway, aptly named as he was found at a Rest Stop on I95, was discovered by State Police on January 24th near the New Canaan exit. The cat was abandoned by his owner and left in a carrier by the side of the rest stop. The State Officers immediately suspected abuse as they noticed that the cat struggled when walking and that one eye was ruptured. The cat looked like he was in terrible pain! New Canaan Animal Control reached out to Pet Animal Welfare Society of CT or PAWS to join forces to help Highway. PAWS is a nonprofit dedicated to the rescue and adoption of our communities homeless and abused cats and dogs. Highway was quickly made comfortable and was seen by the PAWS’ vet. X rays validated our worst suspicion – according to our vet, Highway was definitely abused. Despite his extensive injuries, Highway maintains his sweet temperament and disposition. He is a very sweet cat who will definitely find a forever home. Highway has a very different and rewarding life ahead of him, thanks to the quick thinking and action of the State Police and New Canaan Animal Control. Highway suffered fractures in both front legs. Highway will require expensive surgical intervention with the need for metal plates to stabilize both fractures. In addition to his broken legs, Highway suffers from a painful, ruptured eye which will be removed by PAWS' in-house medical team. Our vet suspects that the eye was punctured with a sharp object. Highway’s fractures will be performed by an outsourced veterinary clinic, costing thousands of dollars. On behalf of Highway, a huge thank you in advance. You are the true heroes of animal rescue and your generosity and support give animals like Highway a second chance.

Roxy

Roxy is a 12-year-old Pitbull Mix in Kingston, NY, who needs $2,000 for Lung Cancer Surgery.

Kingston, NY

My name is Dawn and I adopted Roxy in October 2019. She is 12 yrs old. I wanted a senior dog because they are filled with so much love and unfortunately are hard to get adopted. Roxy was in foster care for a month when I adopted her. The moment we met, our eyes locked, and we knew it was meant to be. Having cats, I wasn't sure how Roxy would be with them but she gives them kisses all the time and wants to be involved with their playtime. I try to keep a calm home environment filled with love, hugs, and kisses. It took her a while to warm up to people when I first adopted her but now she walks up to everyone with a smile. I was just weeks from getting pet insurance when this mass was found. I've only had Roxy for a short time. I know adopting a senior animal comes with a shorter life span but I hope, with your help, to provide Roxy a life far beyond 12 years old. This past Fall, the Vet found a mass on her right lung. A separate mass, non-cancerous, was found on her spleen when doing an abdominal ultrasound, and needed surgery immediately, delaying surgery on her lung. This surgery will allow her to live for many more years. Her surgery will be performed by Dr. Jessica Baron at MedVet in Norwalk, CT. Roxy is so sweet. Sometimes she'll just look up at me with that big, pitbull smile, like the one in her picture, and it reminds me that I am loved no matter what. Her smile makes me smile. She loves to go on walks despite her arthritis and loves saying Hi to other dogs she sees along the way. She loves to roll in the grass and watch the birds while we sit outside.

Chewie — 541cbf

Bronx, NY

Chewie was a dog that we received at northshore animal shelter. He was only a puppy when we got him. He lives with my parents and I and he is a very smart dog. He loves it here, he is given a lot of treats and he has his own bed as well as being able to go in the backyard just in case nobody is home and he wants to relax outside. Chewie sleeps in a bed we got for him since his other bed was too small for him. He also tells us whenever he wants to go for a walk or when he wants to go in the backyard. He loves to follow us around the house to keep us company as well as he loves to play with his toys. He is very excited whenever any of us comes home even if there are others home already We did not forsee him needing radiation and radiation is upwards to 10,000 dollars. We cannot afford 10,000 all on our own. We need help and we can pay a little of it ourselves Chewie currently has underwent surgery to remove tumors from his chest. It is cancerous but it does not spread and he is active even when he had the tumors. He received surgery and he visits the doctor every week just to check up on him and monitor him in case there's anything wrong. He has been very well throughout, but to remove the smaller tumors in his body he needs to undergo radiation. Chewie is a very expressive dog, He is afraid of thunder but loves every kind of weather. When he wakes up he is so happy and ready to get the day started. He is always rewarded a treat for going outside as well as he is just so easy to communicate with. He knows commands and he is overall a lovely dog to have.

Damian

Damian is a 10-year-old Pit Bull in West Milford, NJ, who needs $2,000 for amputation and chemotherapy for bone cancer.

West milford, NJ

I have been blessed to have Damian in our lives for just over 10 years. He adores his human sister and brother! Damian really is a sweet and loving soul that brings out the best in all of us. He has been my rock through all of life's challenges, and I will do my best to be the same for him. We are going to fight for him as much as he is fighting to stay with us. Damian is honestly the light in all of our lives. You would not even know he is in so much pain right now. He still jumps up to run and bring a bone to my husband when he walks in the door. He will not even get out of bed until my 4-year-old does. He is always putting us first and showing us just how much he loves us. There is not a single person that meets him who doesn't fall in love with him. Unfortunately, all the treatment and testing thus far has been expensive. While we will do whatever it takes it is still going to be very difficult to fund everything. Damian never qualified for pet insurance due to a mast cell tumor as a baby. Damian has been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his leg. We are going to amputate to relieve the pain, even though he makes sure we don't know how bad it hurts, we know it does. He will also go through five rounds of chemo to help stop the spread since all testing shows it has not spread yet. We have done a clinical vaccine, and pain meds so far. We have also done all of the CT and ultrasounds. I use to joke and say he is an old man stuck in a dog's body. I know I am biased but he truly is the sweetest and loving soul you would ever meet. He IS always there and knows just when you need that kiss or to lay on your lap when you need a cuddle. He's always making us smile and laugh while he wiggles on his back and smiles. He loves to dress up and taking pictures with the kids.

Gulliver came into our lives 11 years ago as I was suffering from the knowledge we could never have a child. He became our baby. He has brought love and laughter into our lives and the lives of just about everyone he has ever met. In 2016, he comforted me (Linda Freeman) through breast cancer and in 2018 he comforted me through a broken femur and learning how to walk again. Now it is our time to come to his rescue. He is depending on us and his cancer diagnosis is more devastating to me than my own!
