Benny

Benny is a 8-year-old Domestic Short Hair Cat in Norwalk, CT, who needs $800 for Amputation of Digit.

Norwalk, CT • Pet Animal Welfare Society of CT (PAWS)

Benny's young owner sadly passed away suddenly. The owner's boyfriend needed to surrender Benny and that is how he came into the care of PAWS the day after Christmas 2023. Benny was introduced into one of our cage rooms after intake and medical exam. Due to the nature of his bleeding ulcerated toe mass, he was not introduced into a open, community cat room but into a large indoor catio-style cage to allow exercise and a watchful eye from the staff. Benny enjoys his food, all types and flavors. He meows for attention when he knows the volunteer staff and volunteers are nearby. He is described as friendly and sweetest cat who definitely enjoys brushing. The first days of arrival, it was noted that he seemed blind and one of his back paws was bleeding. It was suspected an ulcerated toe mass. With a grade level 3-4 heart murmur detected it was recommended an echocardiogram be conducted to be sure he would be handle a surgery procedure with anesthesia. No medications are required for his heart murmur and was approved for surgical removal of his toe We are a rescue that care for 60-80 cats and 10-16 dogs on a given day. We provide primary medical of age appropriate vaccines, spay / neuter that the extended medical procedures and surgeries for certain individuals affects our ability to help more cats and dogs.

Pinky

Pinky is a 8-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Norwalk, CT, who needs $1,932 for Unilateral Enucleation.

Norwalk, CT • Pet Animal Welfare Society of CT (PAWS)

Pinky Came to PAWS on July 30, 2023. She was a warehouse cat. A warehouse owner had to 20 cats live in his warehouse. There was an exchange ownership and the new owner wanted the cats out. The original owner worked with volunteers of the community to capture the cats and Pinky stayed with a temporary foster for 2-3 weeks. Pinky is in a large catio-style cage during recovery at our shelter. Pinky is quiet and calm cat. She enjoys pets. She is in a large room where other cats explore one at a time, but she doesn't seem bothered by the other cats probably from being surrounded by numerous cats in a warehouse. Pinky is such a sweet girl despite what her unknown history to us is, but we can see the physical injuries and scars she battled. She is an easy to handle cat for being in a less than usual home life. She also doesn't have most her teeth. The staff refer to as having a warrior-soul. Pinky's left eye was going to need enucleation based on the communications and physical reports given by the warehouse owner. Her eye cavity was filled with infection. Being a non-profit we rely on donations and grants to help the cats and dogs in our community. Animals are provided the base wellness health of exams and vaccinations, but sometimes the health of the animal requires dental work or enucleation.
