Dak Shelton

Dak Shelton is a 7 year old German Shepherd Dog in Redding, CA, who needs $2,000 for Soft Tissue Tumor Removal.

REDDING

Years ago, my girlfriend wore me down enough to go “just look” at a puppy she saw online during a trip back to our hometown of Dallas. The moment the door opened and and I saw Dak, I knew we weren’t leaving without him. What I didn’t know was how drastically this little four- legged creature would change..countine So back in August of this year, I noticed a significant difference in the amount of times that Dak would potty every day and the amount of quantity per session. Both we're around six times more than usual. I didn't think much of it thinking it was his age and maybe a changing of a system since he's hitting middle age. So around September I noticed he had an ear irritation....countine A master at the art of tug of war. A laser light enthusiast. Extreme enthusiast. Excellent PT and a great calorie burner. Trick is making your dog feel like they accomplished something by catching the actual night. A feeling of achievement. And encouragement. Dak loved it. He is also very vocal. He has around 25 different barks squeals house and haulers. All of them mean something significant..cou I was laid off during the pandemic..cell tower repairman. And so we continue to be together 24/7. After the pandemic we couldn't stand to be apart from each other so I'll work from there on out was side jobs so we could work together. Time is our most precious commodity..cou

Dak Shelton is a 7 Year Old German Shepherd Dog in Redding, CA, Who Needs $2,000 for Anal Sacculectomy for Anal Sac Tumors.

REDDING, CA

I'm writing this because my dog, Dak, needs help — and right now you guys are the only way Dak has a chance. Dak is not “just a dog” to me. He is my last living family member. I’ve had him since he was four weeks old. He is 71/2 years old now. I didn’t plan on getting dog.. but as the great ones do he found me. He is my soulmate, my best friend, my son, my better half by far. He has a tumor that is a highly aggressive form of cancer. Is located in his rare abdominal bias anal cavity. So it would be a soft tissue surgery. The doctors the VCA in Redding opened him up just to see the size of it (the tumor) and closed him back up again.i had raised $ 1,500 and they agreed to do it till they saw that it was going to be more expensive than they originally "quoted", and deci Dak has become a piece of my soul. My teacher. My hero. Dogs are the closest example we have on this earth of unconditional love — the kind of love God created for us. The kind that only he is able to give us. But dogs come close. Loyalty is what people always mention first, but forgiveness is their real superpower. Dak has shown me grace, faithfulness, and goodness in ways no human ever has. I am begging you to consider helping us.I will follow every instruction, every precaution, every step needed to support his recovery. I am committed to him probably more so than you've ever seen any man to any dog. I’m not asking for a miracle. I’m only asking for the chance

Kat is a 7 year old Mix-Breed in paradise, CA, who needs $2,000 for Anti-Venom.

paradise, CA

I got cat because I heard a little kitten, crying and crying and it wouldn’t stop in the morning. I went and looked for the noise and I found this tiny little boy who is Mom and left him. He barely had his eyes open and he had a big sore on his face and I just couldn’t leave another so we took him in and he’s been with us for the last seven years. He’s been through so much overcome so much… So my cat got bit today by a rattlesnake his 10 foot looks like he’s very got bit. He was probably just trying to sweat. It’s a snake I live in an area where there’s unfortunately a lot of rattlesnakes his hospital that he would be going to is Valley Oaks in Chico. It’s the only emergency hospital around. Our cat is very special. He is loving his honestly he’s probably the coolest cat I’ve ever known and most people agree that he is just a really cool cat. It’s got a cool personality and just very loving and just wants to be part of our family he gets along with other animals when we first got him. I had a dog new Max and Max took him under his wing. I am currently going to school and so money is really tight. We barely have enough to pay our rent and bills. I had a dog named Max. He got bit by a rattlesnake and we couldn’t afford the anti-venom in Max died a horrible death It was the hardest thing I’ve had to go through

Loki

Loki is a 11 month old Mix-Breed in Chico, CA, who needs $2,000 for Amputation Surgery.

Chico, CA

One morning there was a strange unknown 11 month male kitten just relaxing inside with all our many other cats & dogs. He had recently clipped, scabbing ear indicating he was recently neutered locally and released. I posted his pic and a woman call to say she rescued & neutered a kitten from a power plant but it ran from its adoptive home. One night he got his leg stuck in a wooden slated fence. Taken quickly to VCA Valley Oak Vet, the Dr told us the ligaments, muscles and tendons had been seriously stripped from his bone & tissues. He couldn't keep his leg. It would need to be amputated. A young kitten could survive on 3 legs, but its risky being a stray and handicapped. Loki somehow made it to our home, made friends with our dogs and other rescued cats, then was saved by a kind neighbor as he hung upsided down for hours trapped & struggling with his leg between slats on a fence and even though a stray cat from a power plant, it loves to cuddle on your lap and watch tv. All his siblings perished in the rural area- But he made it! He wanted to be part of a group. We hadn't adopted this cat, we were finding his forever home when this accident happened. We didn't have the money, but no choice- It was an emergency. We had to get the surgery he needed whether he was ours or not. Too many abandoned cats out there. He needed a chance.

Hank

Hank is a 10 year old Mix-Breed in Chico, CA, who needs $2,000 for CT Scan and Mass Removal.

Chico, CA

Hank came home from the Oakland Shelter in 2013 when he was only 9 weeks old with his brother, Cash. A bonded pair, Hank is destined to join his brother in Hawai’i one day, but for now he lives in Chico, Ca with his doggie friend, Schotzi. Hank has recently been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in the soft tissue of his abdomen by the wonderful staff at VCA Valley Oak. The fibrosarcoma that extends off his body has been confirmed via biopsy. His doctor requests a CT scan to ensure he can get the whole tumor and the green light for a major surgery to remove this growth plus 3cm margins. Hank quickly became my best friend, my son, and my world. My life was really hard when he entered it; I struggled deeply with depression and an abusive relationship. The love and support Hank gave me by being himself and loving me…I’ve always said he’s the reason I’m alive today. Now I’m a mom, a grad student, and a preschool teacher. My life is whole and on track, and I owe him the world for it. I am a full-time grad student, and my spouse is a local truck driver. I am a preschool teacher over the summer and do receive moderate scholarships, but they don’t pay the debt that’s built during my schooling and certainly won’t cover Hank’s surgery, even though I’ve tried.

Hendrix

Hendrix is a 8-year-old Deerhound x Whippet in CHICO, CA, who needs $2,000 for Limb Amputation Surgery.

CHICO, CA

Hendrix came into our lives in 2015. We got married and wanted to get a dog right away. The dog we chose was also going to be Brad's first dog ever! I found Hendrix on a farm in Somerset, England and knew he was the one. Hendrix is a Lurcher, crossbreed of a Whippet and Scottish Deerhound. He lives for being outside and off leash. He loves to run and play, smell everything and stop to leave his scent every 2 steps. He is a very playful at dog parks and he can be so cuddly when he decides he wants a cuddle. He is the kind of dog you can take anywhere as he loves most things. He loves splashing in creeks or lakes. Hendrix is such a character. He looks like a Dr Seuss character and has a matching personality. He is very vocal so he keeps the house full of noise. He barks at the lawn mower, he crawls under the bed and barks, he barks right in our face, constantly when he wants a walk. He stares deep into our eyes and whines when he wants attention and a cuddle. Every time I look at this goofy dog, I smile. Hendrix was recently diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer, in his back right leg. Further tests have shown the cancer is so far, isolated to just his hind leg, which is honestly a miracle! He will need to have the leg amputated because this type of cancer is very painful and surgery will take most of the pain away. Surgery could potentially extend his life. We have been fortunate so far but we recently moved closer to my family and in doing so, doubled our mortgage and increased most of our bills. We have been able to get by so far but paying for this procedure will not be possible without any financial assistance.

Tigger

Tigger is a 9-year-old Ginger in Redding, CA, who needs $2,000 for stomach scoping for mass.

Redding, CA

I rescued Tigger from my local shelter when he was 6 months old, now he's 9yrs old. He is an IBD cat ( Irritable Bowl Disease) he was throwing up and not pooping so I took him to Vet, the X Ray shows he has a Mass in his stomach, needs a stomach scope to determine what it is/Cancer and if it can be surgically removed. This procedure alone costs $3,000. I do not have the funds. He is an indoor cat, very loving, quirky, handsome, he's my little buddy, he means the world to me, it's just him and I. He loves to play, he's very easy going. He's a huge "talker". He and the dog get along very well. He didn't get along with my other cat who passed away 2yrs ago. He's just such a great cat! This is an unexpected major expense, my cat is my 4 legged child and means everything to me. He must have this procedure done and I just don't have the funds. So scary and stressful. Currently seen by Dr Lanning VCA Eureka Way Redding CA. The scope will be done by Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Portiiallo at VCA Valley Oak- Chico CA which I have been to before for my other kitty (she passed 2 yrs ago) They are very nice, and are specialists, even though the drive is almost 1-1/2 hrs away. He makes me smile everyday, he's such a fun and easy loving kitty. Loves to give love bites and licks my hand/kisses. He loves his toys and plays very well (will even fall asleep with or on his toys). He loves to watch the birds and look for lizards and frogs out the slider door window. He loves to lay in the sun.
