Tonka is my beautiful 4 month old boy that we got from another family member. He has already lost two siblings to parvo. But he's a fighter. His family, daddy, grandma and uncle want him so bad to come home healthy. He loves jumping backwards when it's meal time. I plays with all of us and won't leave my side. He has a big brother that he plays with that wants to sit on his head.:). And a chihuahua keeps the house in line. He is so sweet. Never aggressive, but playful. Until this morning. Tonka is the lover of the home. He just wants to be with us and play with his housemates. He tries to keep everyone young. He has the cutest hop backwards when it's time for food. We adopted Tonka and soon found out that he has parvo. He had two other siblings that got sick too, but did not make it. We have tried at home treatment but today he became lethargic. But he's a fighter. He shows me that he wants to live, but hospitalizing for parvo is expensive. We want to do everything we can to save Tonka. He deserves a chance. But even with the family pulling together, parvo treatment is expensive. He stole my heart the first moment I saw him and he is the life of our home. We just want him to have the life he deserves.

I’ve never owned my own dog, and I fell in love with my husband’s Great Dane, Zeus. He decided to get me my Apollo for my Birthday in 2019. He has been a very healthy boy until this month, and only required regular checkups with the vet. He is the only pet in our family with such a comical personality and a complete mama’s boy. Apollo is my heart. He sticks to me like Velcro and helps me tremendously with my mental health although he is not a prescribed emotional support animal, he absolutely is mine. We love each other so incredibly much, and this last month has been completely heartbreaking for both of us. He has been through so much since the beginning of June, and it’s taken a huge toll on both of us. My job terminated me while I was in a hospitalization program, my husband is a Navy Vet who is in school full time on a GI bill. I just had back surgery a month ago and and still dealing with an incredible amount of chronic pain. My poor guy has been through the ringer since June 3rd. First diagnosed with ulcers in his GI tract, prescribed medicine to heal that, which did not help. June 14th he was then diagnosed with HGE and given medications. June 17th diagnosed with bloat and pancreatitis, was hospitalized with no improvement. June 19th referred to ER vet and had to endure surgery. Still not positive on what’s wrong. Apollo is my Velcro, house cow. He follows me everywhere. When I say everywhere l, I mean EVERYWHERE! He follows me to the bathroom, laundry room, closet, couch and if I walk in circles, he walks right next to me, just to be with me. He moos like a cow and howls at the top of the steps when I come home. He still chases his tail like a puppy and jumps on my shoulda to give me big hugs.

Attacked and Injured: Billo Needs a Metal Plate to Walk Again

Billo's life changed in an instant. This sweet boy was attacked by a large neighborhood terrier, suffering a devastating fracture to his leg. His family rushed him to an emergency veterinary hospital, hoping to get him the help he desperately needed. Unfortunately, the cost of the necessary surgery was far beyond what they could afford. That's when Death Row Dogs Rescue stepped in. Billo was surrendered into our care so he could receive the lifesaving medical treatment he needs. He is currently safe with one of our temporary medical fosters, where he is receiving love, comfort, and around the clock care while we work to save his leg. After being evaluated by our veterinarian and having X-rays performed, we learned that Billo's injury is severe. To properly heal the fractured bone and give him the best chance at a normal, pain free life, he requires orthopedic surgery to place a metal plate on the bone. Without this procedure, the injury may not heal correctly, and amputation could become the only option. Billo has already been through so much. He deserves the chance to run, play, and live the happy life every dog deserves. We are asking for your help to raise funds for his surgery and recovery. Kobah

Kobah is a 4-year-old Australian Shepherd in Newcastle , WA, who needs $2,000 for Wound Care and Blood Transfusion.

Kobah was a gift four years ago to our children. He is the only pet we have and is very loved. We have had kobah since he was a small baby. Kobah is such a sweet living dog. Kobah loves to sleep in the middle of the couch on top of all the pillows being able to see outside. He is super loving when we go on walks he is super attentive to where the kids are walking and trying to keep them safe and close to him. He loves to play tug a war and also like to sit in the couch when the kids play Xbox. Kobah loved to play with squeak toys. His favorite toy right now is a small dinosaur. He loves to sit in front of our back door and look at the squirrels walking around out patio fence. He loves to run up hills and catch his toys. Kobah was currently seen at his vets for a spider bite; due to the bite his bite became infected and necrotic. His infection was spreading and draining he needed to be transferred to a vet hospital to receive a blood transfusion and leg debridement to clear out his infection. Kobah is currently at the hospital under supervision and trying to make sure the infected area stays healthy. This injury was so sudden that we were able to pay for some of his care but this was so unexpected is has become a financial struggle/ stress to try and help out dog come back home and return to his old happy loving self.

Tootsie

Tootsie is a 12-year-old Dachshund in College Park, MD, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgery.

When Tootsie was saved by Little Paws Dachshund Rescue, the stakes were high. The sweet girl was a medical mess! And Tootsie was part of a bonded pair; her adoring other half, Snickers, would have been heartbroken to lose his best pal. "Tootsie came to Little Paws with her mate, Snickers," Julie J., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "Both had been medically neglected for years; Tootsie, however, has been most affected. Because she was never spayed, she came to us with a large mammary tumor that was cancerous. The tumor was removed at the time of her spay. Tootsie developed a very serious infection at her abdominal incision site." On top of all that, Tootsie also required dental surgery because she had horrible teeth and needs heartworm treatment. Her medical team at Best Friends Animal Hospital in Gaithersburg, MD, takes great care of her. Little Paws is an East Coast-based nonprofit dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of Dachshund and Dachshund mixes, and the organization depends on donations to help dogs with medical needs. The good news is that Tootsie is becoming more mobile and is getting stronger. When she was rescued, her foster mom had to hand feed her, but now she can eat on her own. The plan is to continue her wound care treatment, and once she has healed enough, her veterinarian can begin treating her heartworm. With your help, Tootsie's future will be brighter. And that not only makes the rescue happy, Tootsie, Snickers, and their foster mom will be thrilled too! "Tootsie adores her mate, Snickers, and looks to her for comfort," Julie says. "She is a total sweetheart and just wants to be loved back. Our goal as a rescue is to show Tootsie the care she deserves and prepare her for a forever family that will continue her journey of love and happiness."

Almost 7 years ago I went to the shelter to rescue a dog and once I saw zeus I knew that he was my dog he has always been the sweetest boy and my bestfriend he has been with me thru everything the last 7 years have brought good or bad Zeus got out through a hole in the fence and was hit by a car. His leg is broken and all the vets we have talked to have said that he needs his leg amputated we cannot afford the cost but I cant loose him. Zeus loves to run and play with my 2 and 3 year old kids. They adore him. He plays tag with my daughter and plays ball with my son he loves to just sit and sunbathe while he gets loved on and snuggles. We are struggling financially after my husband's equipment he uses for work broke and I was paying more to daycare than I was bringing in while working and this bill to save zeus is too much for us to come up with but we want to try to save him

Waylon

Waylon is a 9 year old German Shepherd Dog in Erlanger, KY, who needs $3,900 for Mucosal Resection.

I adopted Waylon in 2017. He was a 7-week-old puppy from a hoarding situation and was very timid and scared of everything. While certain things still startle him, like opening a garbage bag or sneezing, he is now a happy, goofy boy who loves attention. Waylon loves to watch and patrol the cul-de-sac, hang with his fur sister, and snuggle. Waylon has developed a rectal polyp, which causes him much discomfort. He strains when pooping and bleeds significantly. He had a colonoscopy at Greater Cincinnati Animal Hospital in June but unfortunately, the polyp was too big to be removed. The vet took biopsies, which thankfully came back as benign! He now needs mucosal resection surgery to safely remove the polyp so he live comfortably. To know Waylon is to love Waylon. He doesn't believe that strangers exist- just friends he hasn't met yet. He is a 90lb gentle giant with the biggest heart. He loves children and hates when someone sneezes. His best friend is the 7lb mini poodle next door, but I'm not sure if the poodle feels the same. He loves playing with his stuffed taco and adores his fur sister, who mostly tolerates him. Waylon’s unsuccessful colonoscopy means he now needs a $3,900–$4,700 mucosal resection. His polyp is benign but could become cancerous. This procedure is very expensive, but it will give him a pain-free, happy life—which is all I want for him!

Tempest and her littermate sister, Eris, were welcomed into our home when they were just nine weeks old. Together, they were thick as thieves and partners in crime. Tragically, we later lost Eris to Degenerative Myelopathy. This past December, I suffered another profound loss with the unexpected passing of my former partner, who was doggy dad and one of my closets friend. She was referred to an endocrinologist and diagnosed with anal gland sarcoma. She underwent surgery to remove approximately 85% of the diseased tissue, along with affected pelvic and abdominal lymph nodes. While a new chest nodule has been identified, there is currently no evidence of metastasis to her lungs and organs. She is receiving care at Texas A&M Small Animal Hospital in College Station. Tempest is a gentle soul who brings comfort everywhere she goes. As an unofficial therapy dog, she spent years easing patients' anxiety and loneliness, always making everyone feel truly seen. At home, this sweet German Shepherd has a quirky side—she’s hilariously bossed around by a tiny Chihuahua, is obsessed with laser pointers, loves stealing pillows, and is a dedicated squirrel watcher. Despite my daily job search, finances are exhausted. I’ve maxed out credit cards for Tempest’s surgery, labs, and the long, recurring trips to her oncologist. Losing her daddy in December nearly broke me; Tempest is my "ride or die" who helped me survive that storm. She save

* Forever Paws Animal Shelter * On July 8th 2024, New Bedford Animal Control seized 21 dogs from a home in New Bedford, MA. These dogs, 12 cane corsos and 9 bulldog mixes, were kept in deplorable conditions. It was well over 100 degrees in the attic and the third floor apartment where these dogs were kept and they were covered in feces and urine. They are now being cared for by staff at Forever Paws Animal Shelter in Fall River. These dogs came in with urine burns, pressure sores, overgrown nails, wounds both fresh and in various stages of healing, skin conditions, and various infections. Quigley needs to be neutered and heartworm tested prior to being adopted. These dogs, despite the situation that they came from, have not shown any aggression. Some are understandably fearful, most of them have no idea what to do with human interaction and have no idea how to handle affection. They clearly want to be loved and many of them will crawl right into our laps and tuck themselves under our chins. They are all so, so deserving of a second chance. As a non-profit that runs strictly off of donations, we were not prepared for an undertaking of this scale but we're determined to do right by every single one of these dogs. Many of them are large breeds (~100lbs) so spays/neuters alone can be around $1k-$2k.
