Just days ago, Bradford Jack was returned to the care of NYC Second Chance Rescue under heartbreaking circumstances. His adopter was facing a crisis at home and made the difficult decision to surrender Bradford Jack so he could be safe. What happened next made that decision even more significant. Before Bradford Jack returned to rescue, he got into the trash and began vomiting repeatedly. His condition quickly became concerning, and his rescue team rushed him to the veterinary hospital. X-rays revealed a linear foreign body lodged in Bradford Jack’s gastrointestinal tract. This is a life-threatening emergency. If left in place, a linear foreign body can cause severe intestinal damage, including tissue injury, perforation, infection, and potentially fatal complications. Bradford Bradford Jack is already severely dehydrated, and right now, he isn't stable enough to safely undergo anesthesia. His veterinary team is working urgently to change that. Bradford Jack is receiving IV fluids and medications to stabilize and rehydrate him. As soon as he is strong enough to safely undergo anesthesia, the veterinary team will perform surgery to remove the foreign material and assess the damage it may have caused. There is no time to waste. And while Bradford Jack is fighting for his life, we want to make one thing very clear: we do not blame his adopter. Domestic violence can force people into unimaginable situations and impossible choices. Bradford Jack's adopter made the heartbreaking decision to get him somewhere safe while navigating her own crisis. She didn't stop caring about him—she made sure he had people who could protect him and get him the emergency medical attention he needed. Returning Bradford Jack may very well have saved his life. One day, I woke up and decided I wanted a dog. I’ve always dreamed of having a dog of my own, and in my mind, I already knew exactly what I wanted. I loved the idea of having a tiny, adorable dog that I could carry around, love, and spoil. I ended up at the pet store, excited. There was this cute little dog scratching at the window, and that was King! I am seeking medical help for King because he is currently dealing with a serious medical condition called a perineal hernia. At this point, surgery is necessary to help correct the hernia and give him the best chance at maintaining his quality of life. King has given me six years of unconditional love and companionship. I want to give him the same love in return by doing everything I can to help King is truly one of a kind to me personally. He is not just my pet; he is my son. He has been my best friend and constant companion everyday. I brought him home when he was three months old. Six years later, he remains one of my greatest blessings. He has a huge personality despite being a small dog. King is playful, affectionate, loving, spoiled, and definitely dominant. He knows what he wants a King’s medical condition has created an unexpected financial burden that I was not prepared for. Baxter

Baxter is a 6 year old Basset Artésien Normand in Van Nuys, CA, who needs $5,000 for Hospitalization for Kidney Failure.

We found Baxter online. As I grew up with Bassett hounds, it was really hard to find one that was a Rescue close to me and I resorted to getting one from someone that bred them because they are just a wonderful family dog. My beloved dog has just been diagnosed with kidney failure. Right now, the immediate focus is keeping them stable through continuous IV fluids, essential daily medications, and a likely upcoming hospitalization to monitor their organ function. The veterinary bills are mounting rapidly, and I am doing everything I can. He is just the sweetest dog. He lays next to you and just let you know that he loves so much. We have a child that he adores. We know that Baxter has a heart of gold and we want to keep him around longer than just only six years. It’s just too young. We have exhausted credit cards on getting Baxter any treatment we can, but it’s come to the point where hospitalization is most likely needed in order to flush his kidneys having continuous IV fluids going through him rather than just one bag per day at home.

My name is Marvess & my name is Michele, we are the owners of our beloved Ruby. We’ve been fostering dogs and have our own dogs. Dogs are a big part of our lives, and some of the best companions. Our Ruby came to us not long of the passing of our Tru & Snoop. They tragically lost their lives due to a road accident. Ruby was given to us by a generous friend knowing we were longing for another girl! We noticed Ruby was losing her vision, she has been stumbling and looking confused at her familiar surroundings. We also noticed her eyes were filled with blood. We took her to the vet and bloodwork was performed, Ruby is suffering from Lyme disease infection. Her stomach is also distended with fluid which is very concerning. We are heartbroken! Seeing her in this condition is hard to imagine. Ruby lives with her two buddies, Nasir & Umbluto!! They are all bonded and love each other. They all love the river, hikes, long walks, playing ball for hours! She loves her two playmates but can’t interact like she could before her vision loss. I am on a fixed income and I have tried asking for payment arrangements without any luck. I did apply to care credit and the other credit options but was not approved. So I’m desperately asking for help to get Ruby healthy again.

Pachino is the best gift I’ve ever been given. I’m so lucky to be his protector. We’ve been together since he was a puppy along with is a big little brother, Goliath. Pachino has been admitted to the UF Veterinary Hospital twice within the past two weeks. His first surgery was a hemilaminectomy to prevent permanent paralysis, regain function in his hind limbs, and eliminate pain on his compressed spine. His second surgery was a cholecystectomy due to a gallbladder mucocele, performed to prevent a life-threatening rupture. Anyone who knows me, knows Chino. He himself has never met a stranger. When we are not cuddling up at home, we spent our days on long walks around downtown. He would brighten up every passersby's day. He is the light in my life. Please send Chino well wishes so he can get back to being a spoiled baby boy. One procedure alone is already a stressful situation for Pachino and me, but two untimely procedures are a cruel circumstance and an unfathomable financial burden.

Aria joined our family on March 19, 2019, after we lost our 12-year-old rescue, Peggy Sue. For my wife’s birthday, we found Aria at 5 weeks old. She instantly fit like a missing musical note alongside Oreo Maria, our bossy rescue Shih Tzu. Aria loves endless touch, snuggles, and attention, happily making herself the absolute center of her own universe. Aria is incredibly stoic, but she suddenly stopped eating and had heavy bleeding. X-rays at Lovet Pet Health Care revealed her bladder is full of stones. She needs immediate surgery to open her bladder and remove them, followed by a lifetime prescription diet. She is strong but currently leaking chronically. I cannot bear the thought of losing her just because I can't afford to take care of her. Aria was meant to be my wife's dog, and she quickly made me her dad. She is uniquely empathic, inquisitive, and intuitive. Aria is everyone's friend, reads the room instantly, and thoroughly investigates everyone she meets from head to toe. She's never met a human that she doesn't love. She loves my grandchildren (especially their snacks), and goes through torture willingly. Truly impressive. On a fixed income w/no emergency fund. This sudden medical crisis is devastating. I got Bayley when she was six weeks old. She was with breeder and her living situation wasn’t the best. She is now 8 years old. Bayley has become my best friend; she knows when I am having a rough day. She is also a sister to another Boston terrier (he is 7 years old) they are best friends. She knows what to do to make me feel better. For Bayley her name just fits her perfectly and throughout own I am looking for assistance in getting Bayley the surgery she needs to remove bladder stones. She is very uncomfortable right now. To me and help what be greatly appreciated. She is my baby and she means the world to me. I would do anything for her. Seeing her just not being playful makes me very sad. She just brightens my day and her brother and her always greets me at the door when I return home She has a best friend named Brody that she lives with. She loves treats, getting all the attention and loves the outdoors. She is afraid of storms, especially thunder. She will either try to hide behind you or if there is a blanket she will go underneath. Bayley is just so lovable and being a lap dog to anyone that will let her sit. She also loves to lick. Her personality wants to just be loved on This last year has been rough. I got divorced and lost half of my financial support. I have been trying to pay my bills. Within the year I lost two of my siblings and had to take two trips home (upstate New York). I have not been able to get a emergency fund created.

One normal afternoon I went grocery shopping. As I was leaving the store to go home, I saw someone giving away puppies for free. As I got to the stop light something in my heart told me to turn around. I turned around and I rolled my window down and said “I’ll take one”. I had a cat at the time too and I remember saying “the dog goes before the cat if it came down to it”. He became DukeOmous Prime Duke-Omous Prime has been through a lot with me. He developed anxiety and PTSD from my past relationship. We moved in with some friends and one day my friends dog attacked him and left a huge cut from his mouth and down his chin. I am worried about it getting infected and I lose my best friend. Duke loves everyone and everything. Hes so sweet and special. He is my ESA and helps me in so many ways. He loves talking, cuddling, and his favorite thing to do is play with the ball. His personality is so big and beautiful. We have been together every day constantly since I first got him. Hes so smart and I wouldn’t know what to do if I lost him. We have recently moved and left a really bad situation. My car was totaled by my ex so I haven’t been able to work and with trying to get mentally and physically back together has been rough. Having him healthy would relieve so much stress and I coukd focus on our future.
