Castaway Critters was met with another hoarding cat situation. They desperately need you!

Castaway Critters was recently contacted by a woman who recognized that she needed help and bravely reached out to Castaway Critters for support. First and foremost, they want to thank her for taking the right step. It takes courage to acknowledge that things have gotten out of hand and to ask for help before the situation becomes even worse. After seeing their other recent hoarding situation, she realized she didn't want her own animals to reach that point. She knew it was time to ask for help—and they are here to help both her and her cats. They are currently looking at 35–50 cats living in the home, including both kittens and adults. None of the cats have been spayed or neutered. Their plan is to safely remove and care for all of the cats while also helping the four senior cats she has loved and cared for their entire lives. Once they have been spayed/neutered and received the veterinary care they need, they will return them to her. They will also work with her to provide food and litter while she gets back on her feet. Some may question why they would return the senior cats, but they believe that helping the community is an important part of rescue. These cats are loved, and uprooting four senior animals who have spent their entire lives with their person isn't necessarily the best solution. If they can ensure they are healthy, fed, safe, and loved while helping their owner get back on her feet, that's a win for everyone. ❤️ This will be a massive team effort. They are organizing extraction teams and will move the cats out in phases. Their first phase began with the kittens. The kittens arrived with fleas, upper respiratory infections, worms, and infected eyes. They have all started antibiotics and are already getting cleaned up with a much-needed bath. There are still many more cats waiting, and they know this journey will be long, but it will be worth it. What Castaway Critters walked into was something they'll never forget. Castaway Critters cats rescued 20+ cats and kittens from a home in Pennsylvania. The conditions were beyond heartbreaking. The home was infested with roaches, bed bugs, mice, fleas, ticks, and lice. The ammonia from years of waste was so overwhelming that their team had to wear HAZMAT suits and respirators just to enter safely. It was a scene of unimaginable neglect. Inside, frightened cats of all ages—from newborn kittens just 2 days old to senior cats over 10 years old —were doing their best to survive together in an environment no animal should ever endure. Now the real work begins. Every cat they rescued needs veterinary care, nutritious food, parasite treatment, and a safe place to heal. Some are in far worse condition than others, but every single one deserves a chance at a new life. Castaway Critters is desperately asking for your help. Shammi and her kittens need your help in a heartbreaking fight for survival.

What should have been a joyful story of a mother cat raising her babies has turned into a heartbreaking fight for survival. Shammi and her five kittens came into the rescue already struggling. The tiny family has been battling severe gastrointestinal illness, parasites, dehydration, and ongoing medical concerns. Despite multiple veterinary visits, diagnostic testing, medications, supportive care, and around-the-clock monitoring, the kittens remained dangerously small for their age. One of Shammi's precious kittens, Tinos, suddenly declined and was rushed to the emergency hospital. Despite every effort to save him, Tinos passed away wrapped in the warmth and love of his devoted mother. Our team was devastated, but we immediately made the difficult decision to authorize a necropsy in hopes of determining what caused Tinos' death and whether there is anything more we can do to protect his siblings. Just hours later, another kitten, Rhea, developed labored breathing and coughing and was rushed back to the emergency hospital. Doctors diagnosed pneumonia, and Rhea remains hospitalized while receiving intensive medical care. Today, Shammi's remaining kittens—Rhea, Cora, Eros, and Nikos—are still fighting. They are receiving medications, fluids, supportive care, and close monitoring as we work tirelessly to keep them alive and uncover the cause of their illnesses. In less than 24 hours, medical expenses for this tiny family have exceeded $7,000 and continue to climb. Emergency hospitalization, diagnostic testing, medications, imaging, treatment, follow-up care, and Tinos' necropsy have created an overwhelming financial burden, but we refuse to give up on these babies. Help Loki Survive This Life-Threatening Urinary Emergency

Meet Loki, a sweet and spirited four-year-old cat who is now fighting for his life after developing a severe urinary obstruction and complications from FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease). What started as a few days of lethargy quickly turned into a heartbreaking medical emergency that no family was prepared for. Loki’s mom rushed him to the emergency vet after realizing something was terribly wrong. He was diagnosed with a painful urethral obstruction — a condition that can quickly become fatal without immediate treatment. Since then, Loki has already undergone catheterization procedures twice after suffering repeat blockages. Now, veterinarians suspect a urethral tear, and Loki is also battling severe anemia, even after receiving a blood transfusion. Right now, Loki remains hospitalized under close veterinary supervision. He requires ongoing intensive care, including urinary catheter management, constant monitoring of his PCV levels, medications, and supportive treatment to keep him stable while doctors determine when he will be strong enough for the next step in his care — a lifesaving PU surgery that could prevent future blockages. The cost of Loki’s emergency hospitalization and continued treatment has already reached $6,289.56, and it continues to grow each day he remains in critical care. Thankfully, Paws 4 A Cure has stepped in with a generous $400 grant, but Loki’s family still urgently needs help raising $2,194 to continue his treatment and give him the chance to recover. Loki is not just a cat — he is family. His mom has loved him since he was only a tiny kitten. One of their children owned Loki’s father, and the family instantly fell in love with him while helping care for the litter. Since then, Loki has grown into the goofy, clever, lovable companion everyone adores. True to his name, inspired by the Marvel character Loki, he is sneaky, smart, mischievous, and full of personality. He keeps everyone laughing with his antics and fills their home with joy and love every single day. His family cannot imagine life without him. Now they are doing everything possible to save him — but they cannot do it alone. Loki still has so much life ahead of him. His veterinarians remain hopeful, but time and continued medical care are critical. Tuesday is a 2 month old Mix-Breed in Harrisonburg , VA, who needs $700 for Enucleation.

Tuesday come into my life unexpectedly, when her and 6 litter mates were dumped off along the side of the road in a small cat carrier with no food or water, in 80+ degree weather left to suffocate and die. I am an experienced foster through my local SPCA and was tagged in the post about her and her litter mates being found as the person who did could not and was no in the situation to help them. When Tuesday come to me, she had an eye infection which I was treating with some erythromycin twice a day, and seemed to be helping. But while playing with the others, I believe she got scratched in her eye or done so herself which fully got worse in no time, a vet visit with a medical voucher and co-pay confirmed it ruptured and she needs an inoculation when she reaches 2 pounds and cost $700. Aside from Tuesday and her litter, I have 8 cats of my own and dog, which doesn't include the three I foster for my local SPCA! She is a beautiful soul and despite her pain and sensitivity to her eye, she doesn't let it stop her from playing or purring. She loves and thrives off interaction, having to keep her in a cage to protect her eye means she can't sleep with me or play with her litter. Not only was this unexpected, I'm a single mom of 4 kids, with one income. To have Tuesday's eye fixed means she could play and sleep with me again, my kids could play and love on her, her and her litter could reunite. She has a potential home, but her eye need fixed to go.

Chickadee is a 10-year-old stray that was taken in by Community Cats Coalition. Sadly, her owners failed this very sweet kitty. She was on death's door, just skin and bones, and had one eye that needed to be removed. On top of that, her mouth was full of infection. The rescue had to take her to a dental specialist, where they were told the surgery she would need to treat her mouth would cost in the vicinity of $2,000! Community Cats Coalition desperately needs your help to get Chickadee's blood work done, x-rays of her mouth, and dental surgery. So far, she has gained weight and has been cleared for surgery. She will undergo three different surgeries. One to have her eye removed, one for her spay, and one for her dental. She is currently on antibiotics to bring the raging infection down, but the rescue has been informed she will need a full extraction. Chickadee is the sweetest little girl, showing affection to her caretakers and lots of purring, even after everything she has been through in her life. This rescue's funds are being stretched thin with the high number of cats they have taken in, and they desperately need your help to fund Chickadee's life-saving surgeries. Goose is a Siamese kitten in St. Paul, MN, who needs $1,500 for balloon dilation for kitten born with no rectum.

Goose is a fighter. This little girl is the last remaining baby in a litter of 4 kittens born to their Snowshoe mom. Coming into rescue, Mom had just given birth and was in rough shape, not in good condition to provide the sole care of her 4 babies, so the babies have received supplemental tube feedings in their foster home with Twin Cities Pet Rescue. Now, Goose is in a fight for her life. Goose is a sweet little kitten, dealt a poor hand. Her short life has been filled with coccidia, tube feeding, skin issues, and eye infection. Goose has been diagnosed with Atresia ani, a rare congenital disorder where she has no rectum, and now needs surgery & potential lifelong management for incontinence. Twin Cities Pet Rescue has been hit hard financially during COVID. We survived 2020 and have been launched into a disaster of unexpected cases so early in 2021 -- senior cat with CHF, kitten needing FHO surgery, dog needing oral mass removal, dog needing entropian surgery. Goose and her sibling Maverick were diagnosed with a rare congenital condition, Atresia ani, which means they were born without a rectum. Maverick's prognosis was poor, and he was humanely euthanized after an overnight evaluation at a specialty vet clinic. Goose's outlook is better with partial development, but diagnosis is guarded, and the first step is a surgery to clear her rectal opening. Goose is a sweet Siamese baby, the last of her litter who were born with a host of medical problems, yet she continues to bring spunky kitten energy to her foster home. Her fosters have been invested in her care, no doubt building a special bond as the foster dotes their love and attention to ensuring Goose is as comfortable as possible.

Tigr was left @ bridge 1 of 3 kittens I keep mom dad aunt too I fix all 6 live with 6 more I rescued 12 cost my check ea mo, just to feed all of them daily afraid of prognosis as it's been this way since whomever peeled out when they put m out there n spun a rock into his sclera causing a hole or maybe a parasite is in there, don't beleive ge can see from it, from the way he holds his head up hi It hurts seeing him suffer when I've become overwhelmed financially unable to get his eye removed or a diagnosis to save it would be best yet am fear it's been too long standing injury to save. He loves being petted but often runs away as I try to treat his eye with a warm wet cloth or drops is most I can do without funds its heartbreaking., It will be good to see tiger not sleep so much b cuz of his obvious sore eye he avoids most of us except to eat n go out awhile @ night to do his business

Aysa was starving to death on the streets. Will you help her?

Aysa was emaciated, desperately hungry, sick, covered in mange, and suffering from a severe infection. She likely begged anyone who passed for food, only to be ignored or chased away because she was seen as a nuisance. How does a dog become this emaciated while people simply walk past her? Thankfully, two workers of a local sanctuary spotted her while they were at the market getting food for the shelter. They couldn’t leave her behind. They picked her up and brought her to safety. But Aysa desperately needed medical care they couldn’t afford, so they reached out to Stray Dog Support for help. They have now taken Aysa on and are medically sponsoring her. ❤️ At Pets N Vets, bloodwork revealed that Aysa was severely anemic and battling a serious infection, in addition to the mange. She was immediately started on antibiotics and placed on a carefully monitored slow-feed regimen. She is receiving vitamins and supplements and is now hospitalized so she can get the intensive care she needs. Aysa was likely only days away from dying. And now she has a chance. ❤️ She deserved better than the suffering she endured, and they are determined to give her that chance. But SDS cannot do it without your help.
