Brave Girl Who Survived The Streets of LA

Collette was found living on the streets of Los Angeles and at only 7 pounds, it had taken a devastating toll on her tiny body. By the time she arrived at the county shelter, Collette was suffering from painful puncture wounds around her neck and legs from being attacked, an injured left leg with an open wound, a mammary mass, and a fractured fibula. Thankfully, Bichon Rescue Brigade stepped in to give her the care she needs. Despite everything she’s endured, Collette has remained incredibly sweet, trusting, and full of hope. She greeted her rescuers with gentle eyes and a wagging tail, proving that her loving spirit survived even when her body had been through so much. After rescue, Collette was immediately examined by a veterinarian. Thankfully her fractured fibula is healing and does not require surgery as of now and the mass is not dangerous. Now that Collette is finally safe, her biggest medical need is her upcoming spay surgery and continued follow-up veterinary care to ensure she stays healthy as her injuries heal. These expenses, along with her examinations, medications, and treatment, add up quickly for a rescue that never hesitates to save medical dogs from high kill shelters with nowhere else to turn. Collette’s future is finally bright, but she still needs your help to get there. Skye

Skye is a 2 year old Beagle in Murphy, TX, who needs $5,000 for Heat Stroke and severe head trauma.

Yesterday, we received an urgent call about two Beagles found collapsed in an open field in Denton, Texas, with no homes in sight. In the extreme heat, neither dog could stand or walk. They were suffering, alone, and fighting to survive. We immediately rushed both dogs to Mercy Animal Clinic for emergency medical care. The two girls have been named Sunny (tan) and Skye (tri-color). While Sunny is battling the effects of heat exhaustion and neglect, Skye is fighting for her life. Veterinarians discovered that Skye had suffered severe head trauma consistent with being struck by a hard object. She remains in the ICU, receiving IV medications, fluids, and around-the-clock care as her medical team does everything possible to save her. Both girls were covered in fleas and ticks and showed signs of prolonged suffering in the brutal Texas heat. Despite everything they have endured, Skye and Sunny remain deeply bonded. They are being kept together in the ICU for comfort, helping to reduce stress during this frightening and uncertain time. Through it all, Skye continues to fight. We are still searching for the dogs' owners and investigating the circumstances surrounding Skye's injuries. At this time, we have serious concerns that animal cruelty may be involved. Every emergency rescue stretches our resources, and Skye's care is already generating significant medical expenses. From diagnostics and intensive care to medications and ongoing treatment, the costs continue to climb. We are asking for your help on behalf of Skye, and for the sweet friend who refuses to leave her side. 7/31/26 Update: They've left the vet's office... and for the first time in a long time, they're learning what it means to be loved. Sunny and Skye are now settling into a temporary home, and every day brings a new milestone. These sweet Beagle girls are discovering a world they should have known all along: soft beds, gentle hands, kind words, and safety. They are learning potty training, positive reinforcement, and how to trust again. While Skye continues to face challenges from the severe head trauma she suffered, her resilience amazes us daily. Her progress is nothing short of inspiring. What we've learned since bringing them out of boarding: ❤️ Both girls adore other dogs. ❤️ They sleep cuddled together all night, providing comfort for one another. ❤️ They've finally learned that soft beds are meant to be slept on. At first, they would lie beside them because they didn't know any different. ❤️ They didn't know what treats were. Imagine that. ❤️ Going through a back door to go outside was frightening. ❤️ They used to sit by windows looking for a way out, but they have gradually learned they are safe now. ❤️ Most heartbreaking of all, both girls show signs of abuse. Yet despite everything they've endured, all they want is to please the people around them. Their story began because one compassionate person stopped. A mobile groomer who was driving between appointments when she spotted Sunny and Skye struggling to walk in the scorching heat. With no houses or businesses nearby, she immediately knew something was wrong. She stopped, got the girls into her air-conditioned vehicle to cool them down, and made the call that ultimately saved their lives. Because of the groomers kindness, these girls now have a chance at the future they deserve. And thank you to every single person who donated toward their emergency veterinary care. Your generosity helped make their recovery possible. You truly rock! As we watch Sunny and Skye learn simple things many dogs take for granted, we're reminded just how important your support is. No animal should ever suffer abuse. No animal should have to live in fear. Skye was born a healthy, happy Beagle. Today, she faces lifelong challenges because of the cruel actions of one person. Yet every day, she gets up, keeps trying, and shows us what courage looks like. Please continue to keep these girls in your thoughts. We found Rhaenys on a Facebook rehoming group. She was only 2 months old when we got her. Since then she has become the baby of our family. She is full of energy and has a goofy personality. She has taught us patience and love we never knew we needed more of. She is part of our family. Her and my 3yr old daughter are two peas in a pod especially when it comes to adventures. She is a puppy and like most puppies they love to chew things. Well one night at dinner my 3yr old accidentally dropped a corn cob and before I could get it from Rhaenys she had already ingested most of it. She was able to vomit up some of it. But after an emergency vet visit and xray she still has a significant amount left. Which requires surgery to remove. Otherwise it will be life threatening She is so loveable and energetic. She has had a rough life from the start and when we got she has finally been able to have the best puppy/dog life any animal like her deserves. When we inquired about her we didnt know her situation and we rescued her from a puppy mill. She was left in a dark basement with her siblings and since then she has been the piece to our family we didnt know we needed. We are a family of 4 barely surviving on our livable income. We barely make ends meet and wasnt expecting this emergency. We got denied for loans and care credit. But she needs $2,500 for her surgery. We have some but not all of it.

To help her eat more and not be in pain. I can't afford $500 -800 for a ultrasound Sugar baby love treats and loves to give kisses. Me and my husband are her two favorite people and her twin sister she loves like sister loves. She loves sun bathing too Me and my husband just don't have money for high vet expenses we barely have enough to pay bills. We love our Sugar baby it hurts our heart for to have medical needs and we are scrapping by.

Truth be told Amy never really quite understood dog people until she fell in love with Thatcher! He has shown her there is no love that compares to that of a dog! Thatcher recently had a horrific accident with a lawnmower and unfortunately his right front leg was severed along with two toes on his front right foot. Subsequently he had had his front leg amputated at the shoulder. This all happened less than two weeks after a move from NH to FL! The cost is scary and close to $20,000. This is not something anyone can prepare for. Thatcher hasn’t had it easy always. He had his first seizure at 3. Thankfully that is well controlled with medication. Thatcher is the snuggle bug with his mom. He bring an immense amount of joy to Amy who is trying to rebuild her life in a new place! Recently divorced and post multi state move this is financially crushing, I top of the trauma Every time he has to go back to the vet it’s at least $500. This has taken every penny the family (and some friends) has.

Paris came into my life through adoption four years ago, and she has been my best friend ever since. She is now 5 years old and lives with me and my daughter, where she is truly part of our family. She loves people, gives the best cuddles, and has brought so much joy into our lives. Paris suddenly became critically ill and was hospitalized after initially being misdiagnosed with a fatal condition. Thankfully, a second opinion at the emergency hospital led to the correct diagnosis of Addison’s disease. She is currently at VCA Knowles and will require lifelong monthly injections and ongoing monitoring to manage this chronic condition. Paris is the heart of our home. She is gentle, loving, and always knows when someone needs comfort. She greets everyone with a wagging tail, loves cuddling, and never leaves our side. Her goofy personality and unconditional love have carried us through life’s hardest moments, making her so much more than a pet, she’s family. Paris’s emergency hospitalization came suddenly, with overwhelming medical bills. As a single mom preparing to relocate for a more affordable future, I simply wasn’t prepared for this expense. Any support will help keep her healthy and ensure she receives lifelong treatment.

When Friends For Life Animal Rescue first met this handsome Shepherd, they called him Buddy. But after discovering that he already had a family, they learned his real name was Blue. Blue's owner had passed away, and sadly, the family member left behind didn't care for him. Blue was left to fend for himself outside, searching for food and even being attacked by other dogs. Eventually, an ACO brought him to the shelter, where they were able to step in and give him a chance. At just 7 years old, Blue should have had many happy years ahead of him. They took him to their first veterinarian for a full evaluation, but he ended up needing to stay overnight after he began bleeding. He was given medication, and they hoped they were on the right track. But once Blue arrived at his foster home, his foster couldn't shake the feeling that something still wasn't right. A second veterinary visit revealed the truth. X-rays and bloodwork showed that Blue was suffering from a tick-borne illness, something they sadly see far too often in animals who have spent their lives outside without proper care. He was also experiencing significant pain, especially in one of his back legs, making it difficult for him to walk. Blue will need medication for the rest of his life, along with pain medication when necessary. But with the right care, a loving family, and a soft place to land, they hope this sweet boy can finally live the comfortable and pampered life he deserves. Every donation, no matter the size, helps them pay down his medical bills and continue helping the next animal who needs them.
