Six Toes

Six Toes' Teeth are Rotting!

Fairfax, VA • Homeward Trails Animal Rescue

Six Toes has spent far too much of her life without a place to truly call home. She bounced from home to home before finally making her way to Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. Through all that uncertainty and change, she never stopped being the sweet, loving cat she is. She still trusts. She still wants affection. And she’s still holding out hope that somewhere out there is a family who will finally choose her forever. But right now, Six Toes is hurting. At least three of her teeth are in terrible condition and need to be extracted as soon as possible. Imagine being hungry, walking up to your food bowl, and knowing that every bite could hurt. Six Toes can’t tell us how much pain she’s in. She can’t ask us to make it stop. She simply keeps going. We don’t want her to have to keep living like this. Dental disease isn’t just uncomfortable, it can cause significant pain, infection, and worsening health if left untreated. Six Toes desperately needs a dental procedure to remove the painful teeth and give her the relief she deserves. She has already endured enough uncertainty in her life. She shouldn’t have to endure preventable pain, too. Please donate to Homeward Trails Animal Rescue today and help us get Six Toes the dental care she needs. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings her one step closer to eating without pain, feeling like herself again, and being ready for the loving home she has waited so long to find. Six Toes can’t ask for help herself, so we’re asking for her. Please help us take away her pain.

From a Hoarding Home to Healing: Help Three Rescued Kittens

NY, NY • NY Cat Warriors

When NY Cat Warriors rescued Newt, Toast, and Baby Veg from a hoarding situation, all three kittens came into their care with medical issues and in need of help. Toast, a young tabby, was suffering from severe diarrhea and an upper respiratory infection. One of his eyes was so swollen that it was completely shut, requiring immediate veterinary attention. Newt, a little black kitten, was also battling an upper respiratory infection and was vomiting when he came into the rescue's care. Baby Veg, the white and black kitten, was part of the same group rescued from the hoarding situation and, like the others, arrived with medical concerns of his own. These kittens had already been through far too much at such a young age, but with veterinary treatment and the dedicated care of their foster families, they have been given the chance to recover. Toast's eye is improving, his appetite has returned, and he is now eating like a champion. Although he remains shy and a little skittish, he continues to show everyone what a brave little boy he is. Newt has been just as resilient. He may be understandably tired of all the medications and treatment, but he continues taking everything in stride as he works toward feeling better. Unfortunately, the group recently encountered another medical setback. As Newt was preparing to go to a foster-to-adopt home, testing revealed that he has coccidia, an intestinal parasite that can cause gastrointestinal illness, particularly in vulnerable young kittens. Because Newt, Toast, and Baby Veg all came from the same hoarding situation, there is concern that the entire group was exposed. NY Cat Warriors is treating the kittens with Albon to address the coccidia and help them continue on the road to recovery. The good news is that their eye infections are resolving, and these little ones are moving in the right direction. But getting three kittens healthy after such a difficult start takes time, medication, veterinary care, and a lot of hands on support. Your donation will help NY Cat Warriors cover the veterinary expenses, medications, treatment, and follow up care Newt, Toast, and Baby Veg need as they continue recovering from the medical problems they brought with them from the hoarding situation. Newt, Toast, and Baby Veg have already made it out of a difficult situation. Now they need help getting through the next part of their journey. Please consider donating to help NY Cat Warriors give these three kittens the care they need to leave their illnesses behind and move toward the healthy, safe futures they deserve.

Genevieve

Born with a Spine That Split in Two, Help Genevieve Keep Fighting

Kernersville, NC • Flopsy's Friends Foundation

Some kittens are born into this world with every advantage. Genevieve wasn't. Before she ever had a chance to explore, play, or simply be a carefree kitten, she was fighting for her life. After suffering a devastating seizure, advanced imaging revealed what even specialists rarely see. Genevieve was born with Diplomyelia, an extraordinarily rare congenital condition that caused her spinal cord to split into two instead of developing as one. Her body struggles to coordinate movement, and she cannot fully control her bladder or bowels. The heartbreaking discoveries didn't stop there. Large portions of the areas of her brain responsible for movement and reflexes never fully formed. Because her condition is structural, there is no surgery that can fix it. Her neurologists and her caregivers at Flopsy’s Friends developed one goal: keep Genevieve comfortable, seizure free, and give her every opportunity to enjoy the life she deserves. And Genevieve has exceeded every expectation. Every milestone has been hard earned. She learned to stand and eat on her own with a specially designed feeding setup. She began grooming herself, a victory that most people would never think twice about. With medications, physical therapy, laser therapy, acupuncture, rehabilitation, and endless love, she has become stronger, steadier, brighter, and more determined every single day. She has slowly been able to reduce her prednisone dose, her eyes have become more focused, her coat has started growing back, and she continues proving that she is so much more than her diagnosis. But Genevieve's journey has taken another heartbreaking turn. Out of nowhere, she became critically ill and was rushed to emergency care after developing a high fever and severe breathing difficulties. Doctors diagnosed pneumonia. Imaging also revealed a small amount of free fluid that now requires evaluation by a cardiologist to rule out any underlying heart disease. Her little body is fighting so hard. Her fever returned, and her white blood cell count soared to 38,000, more than double what it should be, showing just how hard her immune system is working. Thankfully, oxygen therapy has helped her breathe more comfortably, but she still needs specialized care, additional diagnostics, medications, and ongoing monitoring. Watching Genevieve struggle is heartbreaking. She can't tell us what hurts. She can't explain what she needs. All she can do is keep fighting. And she does. Every single day. Genevieve has never given up, and neither will we. Her care has already included emergency hospitalizations, MRI and CT imaging, neurology specialists, medications, rehabilitation, acupuncture, laser therapy, cardiology consultations, bloodwork, and continued monitoring. The costs have become overwhelming, but saying "no" has never been an option for this extraordinary little girl. If Genevieve has touched your heart, please consider making a donation today. Every gift no matter the size helps provide the specialized medical care she needs to continue her incredible fight. Together, we can help Genevieve keep proving that miracles don't always look the way we expect, they sometimes come wrapped in gray fur with an unstoppable spirit. 8/12/26 Update We have an important update on Genevieve, and this little fighter needs our help more than ever. Genevieve recently saw a cardiologist, and thankfully, there was some reassuring news about her heart. She has occasional high pressure in her pulmonary artery that can cause a murmur when she gets excited, as well as a thickened tricuspid valve that allows some blood to flow backward and makes her heart work harder. For now, her veterinary team believes these issues can be monitored with annual echocardiograms. Unfortunately, her appointment also brought a new and concerning discovery. An ultrasound showed a large mass in Genevieve’s abdominal area, something that had also been noted during her recent emergency hospitalization. Her platelet count is also dangerously low at just 38,000, which is especially concerning for a kitten who already struggles with balance and is more prone to stumbling. Flopsy’s Friends is now working to get Genevieve an urgent abdominal ultrasound, and she may need to return to the emergency hospital to have it done as quickly as possible. Genevieve is also still running fevers, struggling to urinate, experiencing significant bloating, and dealing with persistent ear infections. Her little body is clearly struggling, and she urgently needs answers and continued medical care. For now, Genevieve is happy to be back home. She even cried a little during her echocardiogram, which is unusual for this normally quiet girl, but she was such a trooper through it all. The cost of Genevieve’s extensive care has depleted the rescue’s available funds, and she still has more diagnostics and treatment ahead. If you can donate or share her fundraiser, please do. Every bit of support helps Flopsy’s Friends continue fighting alongside this extraordinary little girl and get her the urgent care she needs.

Help Sunkist Eat Without Pain Again

Alabaster, AL • Ginger Cat Rescue

For three years, Sunkist has been a beloved part of his rescue family. This handsome 6 year old boy was rescued from a shelter and has since become the resident cat at Ginger Cat Rescue, winning over volunteers and supporters alike with his sweet, easygoing personality. Sunkist is known for being such a good sport, he happily poses in adorable hats and costumes, making everyone smile with his playful spirit. He's become a favorite among the rescue's supporters, and it's easy to see why. One day, Sunkist's caregivers noticed something wasn't right. Every so often, he would cry out while eating. Knowing this was unusual, they scheduled him for a dental exam, expecting to find a bad tooth that could easily be treated. Instead, they received heartbreaking news. Sunkist was diagnosed with stomatitis, a painful inflammatory disease that causes severe inflammation inside a cat's mouth. For many cats with this condition, every meal becomes painful, and the only way to provide lasting relief is through extensive dental surgery. After getting in to see a dental specialist, Sunkist's treatment plan was confirmed. He will need all of his back teeth removed, along with dental X-rays and a CT scan to fully evaluate his condition and ensure the best possible outcome. The estimated cost of his surgery is approximately $6,000. The thought of this sweet boy quietly living with so much pain is heartbreaking. The same cat who happily lets everyone dress him up in funny hats and costumes deserves to enjoy his favorite things again, including something as simple as eating a meal without hurting. Your donation will help cover Sunkist's specialized dental surgery, advanced imaging, anesthesia, medications, and post-operative care. Please consider making a donation today to help give Sunkist the pain free future he deserves. Every contribution brings him one step closer to eating comfortably and continuing to brighten everyone's day with his gentle personality and irresistible wardrobe.

Mango

Help Mango Smile Again: Painful Dental Disease Is Stealing His Joy

Wakefield, MA • Paws 4 A Cure

At first glance, Mango looks like the picture of health—a vibrant orange tabby with a larger-than-life personality and a heart full of love. But behind his bright eyes, this sweet 5-year-old cat has been quietly living with excruciating pain. "Mango came into my life in the most unexpected way. At just two weeks old, he was found alone beneath a car—tiny, bloated, constipated, and the brightest shade of orange the Humane Society staff had ever seen. They joked that he looked just like a mango, and the name stuck. Today, Mango is five and a half years old, and he has grown into the most loving, social cat imaginable. At our previous home, he had a daily routine that brought smiles to everyone around him. Every morning, he would make his neighborhood rounds, visiting each neighbor as if checking in on old friends. He greeted fishermen at the docks in hopes of earning a fresh snack, napped on boats, lounged in the branches of the mango tree, and somehow managed to become everyone's favorite cat. He's always been pure sunshine. Over the past year, though, I noticed changes. Mango became more vocal, started marking around the house, and wasn't as welcoming with visitors. I assumed he was stressed from our recent move and all the changes in our lives. I never imagined he was trying to tell me he was in pain. When I finally looked inside his mouth, my heart broke. His gums were covered in painful ulcers and severe infection. If they're touched, they immediately bleed. His veterinarian diagnosed him with Eosinophilic Granuloma, which triggered advanced periodontal disease. By the time we found it, the damage to his back teeth was already irreversible. Now the only way to stop his suffering is surgery. His veterinarian estimates the dental procedure will cost between $1,050 and $1,300, depending on how many teeth ultimately need to be removed. Unfortunately, dental procedures like this are rarely covered by grants, even when they're medically necessary. Looking back, I realize Mango spent an entire year quietly enduring pain. Instead of crying out, he coped the only way he knew how—comforting himself by suckling his favorite blankets and trying so hard not to take his discomfort out on his feline sisters. He deserves better. This surgery won't just remove infected teeth—it will give Mango his comfort back, protect him from worsening jaw damage, and allow him to enjoy life again without constant pain. I have loved Mango since he was a tiny kitten hiding beneath that car. He truly is the brightest part of my life, and anyone who meets him falls in love with him just as quickly. If you're able to help, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness will help give Mango the chance to smile, play, cuddle, and live the happy, pain-free life he deserves." ## Mango has spent months silently suffering. With your support, he can finally receive the surgery that will free him from constant pain and allow him to get back to being the joyful, affectionate cat everyone knows and loves. Every donation makes a difference. And if you can't give today, sharing Mango's story could help save his smile.

These tiny babies are fighting for their lives, and they need your help.

kaunakakai, HI • Rescue Kitties of Hawaii

A heartbreaking call recently came in about four newborn kittens whose mother had been found deceased beneath a tree. The elderly woman who discovered them didn't know what to do, but after a friend contacted Rescue Kitties of Hawaii, they immediately agreed to take all four babies. By the time they reached the rescue, the kittens had been without their mother and without milk for nearly 48 hours. Their tiny bodies were shutting down from starvation and dehydration. Tragically, one of the babies—a little white kitten—passed away before they could save him. The three remaining kittens are in critical condition. They are just a little more than skin and bones, weighing only about 110 grams each. Their eyes are just beginning to open, meaning they are only about a week old and should still be safely nursing with their mother. Right now, they are receiving around-the-clock care: warmed fluids, sugar support, and bottle feedings every hour in a desperate effort to slowly rehydrate and nourish them. They are still too weak to latch, but they are swallowing, and they're caretakers are holding onto every small victory. The kitten's condition remains extremely guarded, but they are fighting with everything they have to save them. On Molokai, there are very few resources available, and for these babies, these caretakers are their only chance. They're asking for your help to cover the cost of emergency care, formula, medical supplies, and the constant support these fragile kittens need to survive. Every donation, every share, and every prayer means the world. Please help Rescue Kitties of Hawaii give these precious babies the chance to grow up and experience the life their mother can no longer provide.
