Valen is a 7.5 week old crossbreed that has been a part of our family since she was born. We know both parents, and the breeder is a good friend we have known for years. When she announced her Shepard was pregnant, we knew we wanted a puppy! Once the litter was born, we started visiting several times a week and we really got to know the bold and lovable puppy that would be coming home with us. When Valen was 7 weeks old, she started struggling. After discussing it with the breeder, we decided the best plan would be to take her out of the large litter and take her home for more specialized care. We slept on the living room floor for almost a week, snuggling, feeding and caring for Valen around the clock. Connor first took some time to even want a puppy, but she quickly became 'his' dog. Valen was the pick of the litter and everyone who visited the puppies were drawn to her bold, curious attitude and beautiful color. She is always the first to greet new friends and was first to explore outside the puppy pen, even climbing the stairs to howl at the breeders bedroom at night when she was only a few weeks old! She loves to play with our older dog Dale and is gentle with the 18y/o cat On 3/20 Valen started to not feel well. A quick trip to the ER showed nothing glaringly wrong. All week she continued to lose weight and sleep more. We celebrated every bite of kibble she ate but then she started to refuse all food. Another 2 trips to the vet and an exploratory surgery found her intestines dying. Being so thin and weak made surgery risky but she is a fighter! Connor and I are getting married in under 2 months. Valen came at the perfect time to symbolize our union in marriage, she even already has a role in the upcoming ceremony! But other pet medical bills and paying for a wedding means our budget is already tight.

Luna

Luna is a six-year-old Corgi/Dachshund mix in Las Vegas, NV, who needs $2,000 for urgent knee surgery.

When Melissa B. adopted Luna, she fit into her life so well that it was a dream come true. "She lives with me, my older dog, and my elderly parents, whom I care for," Melissa tells Waggle. "She loves everyone she meets. She was born without a tail, and all of her expression is through her ears. You can tell exactly what she’s feeling by what her ears do." Even more heartwarming, Melissa is a teacher, and she discovered Luna loves going to school too. "I brought her to my classroom after she was vaccinated, and she leaped into each kid's lap and showered them with her puppy hugs," Melissa says. But all of a sudden, while Luna was having fun with Melissa and her other dog, Luna yelped in pain. She rushed Luna to the Rainbow Animal Hospital. "This injury came out of nowhere; one minute she was playing, and then she whined, cried, and started limping," Melissa says. "They took X-rays and saw an avulsion fracture (when a small piece of bone gets ripped away from the main bone -- ouch! ) on her right knee." After trying a splint for three weeks, the bone has gotten worse, and Luna developed a nasty skin infection from the splint. Now she needs surgery to mend the fracture. The operation has left Melissa worried and frantic. "As a teacher who also takes care of her parents and lives paycheck to paycheck, I do not have the money to handle this," Melissa says. "Luna is a joy with so much love and energy. It is heartbreaking to see this. She’s so young, and I want her to live a full life." Please help Luna get back on all four paws again!

Wall-e

Wall-E is a 1-year-old Chihuahua mix we adopted from Squishy Face Crew on Valentine’s Day last year. We originally named him Ollie, but his 3-year-old human sister had other ideas, and Wall-E it was. From day one, he has been pure personality.We have a full house —6 dog and Cat siblings, and Wall-e Rules the roost! Lastnight we were hit with a major snow storm, and as soon as Wall-e set foot outside he slipped on ice and suffered a complete Radius/Ulna Fracture. Treatment options include surgery to provide internal fixations of the fracture. This is expected to cost $4500. Wall-E’s favorite things include: Hiking at Alum Springs Park Swimming in the river when the weather’s warm Jumping into the big dogs’ play fights Chasing after fetch games and barking encouragement when he can’t keep up Curling up with his human sister at nap time Somehow taking up all the room in Mom and Dad’s bed despite being tiny We are normally able to provide the best veterinary care, but this emergency is beyond what our savings can cover. I plan to return to work, but with my husband full time and no regular childcare, I’m limited to working weekends. Any support helps bridge the gap.

Rue

Rue is a 1.1-year-old Rottie Mix in Brooklyn, NY, who needs $2,000 for Surgery.

After needing a light in my life, I was hoping to provide a great life to dog knowing well most shelter dogs are need of them. Rue was surrendered and was very stress in the shelter life where the conditions hardly reach her needs much less wants. She chose me is what i felt when i went to adopt a dog, its been a month since i got her and this life threatening turn of events has her in jeopardy. Rue above all expectations or stereotypes towards Rottweiler, is so loving and lovable. Everyone I’ve introduced or have encountered in walks is of her interest. She falls in love with every dog she meets and loves to play and receive affection. She is so social and caring. She’s not demanding of much and shows her gratitude with her affection. I don’t know how in such a short period of time too but Rue absolutely has a bond with me. Bond is present with everyone with everyone but she took a liking towards my character. I felt for her since i first met her, her just being around makes me have a reason. Rue is experiencing spontaneous pneumothorax and is being hospitalized at Verg hospital. She is in need of a cat scan and surgery for the hopes of full recovery. There’s extra air that needs to be removed from between her lungs and ribcage in order to have comfortable breathing. The scan would identify the specific cause and spread and the surgery is in hopes of successfully removing so. This is a sudden major expense that goes over my head but someway and somehow, i need to figure out. I can afford her expenses on a regularly and i knew this when adopting her. I take care of my grandma and younger cousins while being a student and having a part time job.

My doggy entered my life at my lowest point. After i became extremely depressed and lost my job, i got her as a gift to help lift my spirits. Ever since she has been by my side as much as possible. She’s been with me when I had to move cities, with me when I came out of hospitals, with me when no one else was. She’s my world, and she helps me focus on the good in the world. Lexi has a severe tooth infection that has been spreading. It causes her severe distress and pain. She now winces in pain when I try to pet near her mouth, which hurts my soul. She has been visiting Awesome Care Vet clinic by our house and seems to have grown attached to them. My pet is everything to me. Lexi is my soulmate. I can’t live without her right now. She is my emotional support, my rock. She is a skittish pup but warms up to others quickly. I think she thinks she’s a person honestly. She didn’t socialize with other dogs because she was by my side when I was homebound for the first few years of her life. The infection has spread more quickly than I had anticipated and now I’m scared for her life. It would mean the world to me to have her illness free, because I still need her with me. I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it without her help.

Mindy

Mindy is an 8-year-old Yorkshire Terrier in Lantana, FL, who needs $1,000 for urgent tumor removal.

For many long, cruel years, a breeder used Mindy for breeding over and over again. When her days of having puppies were over, the breeder dumped her at a groomer. Mindy was covered in feces, and her fur was stuck together in clumps. The groomer had to shave off all her hair to clean her up. When "With Love for the Animals" rescue heard about Mindy, the group immediately saved her. They discovered massive tumors on her mammary glands, an unrepaired hernia exacerbated by years of nursing puppies, and she had 12 rotten teeth that needed to be removed. The rescue needs your help paying for all of Mindy's medical care while they work on helping her learn she is worthy of love. "She did not know how to go to the bathroom outside and is learning that she does not have to lay in her waste. It is heartbreaking to think about," Jennie P., with the rescue, tells Waggle. The group says despite all Mindy has been through, she is the sweetest girl. She had never been on grass; now, being outside and rolling around is her favorite. She has a lot of love to give and joy to experience in the rest of her dog years. Luckily this beautiful girl is now healing, starting to feel good again, and will soon be looking for a special family. "Please consider donating towards her outstanding medical bills," Jennie says. Merle

Merle is a 9 year old Redbone Coonhound in Osawatomie, KS, who needs $2,500 for Vinblastine.

Merle wandered into our life from a puppy mill at an estimated 4 weeks old. He is our gentle giant that loves snacks, food, sneaking food off someone’s plate, sneaking food out of the refrigerator and sneaking into the trash to of course, get food. He also enjoys long walks and playtime and cuddles on the couch! Although he takes up most of the room on the sofa he takes up more room in our hearts. Early October last year Merle was diagnosed with a grade two Mast Cell Tumor. He has undergone two operations and many Chemotherapy appointments. The doctors believe he can be treated still and enjoy his home with his family for the rest of his days. The Overland Park Emergency Vet and Specialty Hospital has been nothing short of amazing for Merle, they are now family. Merle holds a dear place in all of our hearts and he holds us even closer. He may even love us more than he loves dinner. Merle loves playing with kids and sleeping in bed with whoever will allow. These treatments, are a sudden expense. We have dealt with loss of income and a few other financial set backs but are determined to do right by Merle. Any support would help.

Molly is our beautiful 6-year-old English Setter, and she is truly a member of our family. We’ve had her since she was 7 weeks old. She has the sweetest heart, loves everyone she meets, and lives for running, playing, and being by our side. Seeing her happy has always brought so much joy to our lives. Our world changed in an instant. After going up and down two flights of stairs, Molly suddenly cried out in pain and could no longer put weight on her back leg. She was holding it completely off the ground and whimpered with every movement. We rushed her to the veterinarian, where we received devastating news: Molly has torn her cranial cruciate ligament (CCL), the canine equivalent of an ACL. Molly has given us years of unconditional love, comfort, and happiness. Now she needs us—and we’re hoping our friends, family, and community can help give her the chance to heal. The financial burden has been overwhelming. The cost of the surgery she needs is about $9,000. As much as we want to do this on our own, the total cost is more than we can afford. I've had Missy since she was a little fluffy jelly bean, and I instantly fell in love with her. She attached herself so hard onto my mom and me, she IS our baby. We currently live in my grandparents' house, renting from them, but we can't pay rent because of the vet bills. My mom is a hairstylist, and I am still in high school. Missy was diagnosed on Wednesday with IVDD. She needs an MRI, and she needs surgery done ASAP! My mom and I are trying everything to get the funds for it all, but we're extremely behind and completely unsure if we can get this done for her. I do not want her in pain, and I don't know what to do. We are so desperate for any help right now; she is in so much pain. Missy's personality is huge; she makes everyone smile. She greets people by flipping over onto her back, and she'll request tummy rubs right away, or her little attitude when she's acting spoiled. Her energy livened up the room in a way that I feel like it cured my chronic depression. She is an amazing dog and one of the best good girls. She is so smart and empathetic. My mom and I are at an all-time financial hardship. I am attending Diego Valley HS in El Cajon, and now with Missy's condition, I cannot get a job. My mom is a hairstylist and makes minimum wage. All we want is for our baby is be happy again and get the chance to walk again.
