Ruby

Ruby is a 7-year-old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier in Surrey, BC, who needs $2,000 for Percutaneous Transvenous Coil Embolism.

Surrey

Ruby has had our hearts for 7 years. When we found out she had been born on my beloved Grandma’s birthday I knew she was meant to be ours. She came to us at 8 weeks old and has made our lives better every day since. Ruby’s favourite person in the world is her Grandma Betty who in Ruby’s opinion lives too far away (about 10 blocks). She does enjoy living with her 3 human brothers, mom (me) and dad. She has the bestest neighbours who up until she got sick supplied her with the most delicious wild salmon treats. Her best buddy Baxter, a Boxer/Lab cross conveniently lives right next door. Ruby loves stuffies. She has a collection. Her favourites are from IKEA. They are just the right plumpness and softness. Piggy, Puppy 1, Puppy 2, Bunny, Donkey and Panda all take turns bring her bedtime companion. She chooses one, brings it to bed and proceeds to suck on it while she soothes herself to sleep. Ruby has a rare liver defect called an Intrahepatic Portalsystemic Shunt (IHPSS). Unbeknownst to us she was born with it. It was diagnosed after 4 weeks of investigation which included 2 stays in 2 different hospitals, many blood/urine tests, ultrasounds, X-rays, and a CT scan. We have used our emergency fund to pay the $15,000 CND vet bills which were necessary to treat her immediate needs as well as to get to the point where we now have a diagnosis and plan for treatment. The treatment is surgery which will cost approximately 20,000 CND.

Arrow

Arrow is a 3-year-old Australian Shepard Mix in Wichita, KS, who needs $2,000 for Exploratory Surgery.

Wichita, KS

We adopted Arrow at 6 months of age during the pandemic. He had been hit by a car and lost a leg. You'd never know his leg was gone though. He gets around better than most 4 legged dogs and he does zoomies like no other. He's been a great addition to our growing family. Getting along great with our cats and 2 year old son. Arrow is a big lover boy. He greets everyone with a tail wag. He loves to cuddle and would lick your face to death if he could. He loves his little brother and big sister and he two cats friends. He likes to cram himself on the couch with everyone and cuddle. He's a big fan grandma's house for all the treats. He's loves to sit on his butt with his one front leg out and balance for a treat. He favorite treat is cheese. He even sits on the house and "pretends" to be human. Haha he's loves chugging water then letting out a big gulp after likes he's satisfied. He barks up a storm when you get home from work. It's a great greeting. About 4 days ago Arrow stopped eating and pooping and was vomiting every time her drank water. He was lethargic and not acting like himself at all. He is at a veterinary emergency and specialty hospital right now while they try and figure out what's wrong. An exploratory surgery and found nothing. I was a stay at home mom for 18 months because we couldn't afford daycare. I just started a job 3 weeks ago so we don't have a steady income yet and barely make it by.

Skittles

Skittles is a 1-year-old White Cat in Fresno , CA, who needs $1,300 for Surgical Fracture Repair.

Fresno, CA

Our cat is indoor/outdoor, she is spayed and microchipped. we rescued her when she was 4 months old at the spca here in Fresno. My son asked for a cat for his 12th birthday and we finally obliged and let him get her. She has been the best addition to our family. We absolutely love her so much. It pains us to see her in so much pain. Skittles likes to take long naps and go crazy at night like many other cats tend to do. She is extremely friendly and loves to cuddle with our kids. She gets along well with our dog velvet. They like to play together. Did you know that 70% of white cats with blue eyes are blind? We were worried skittles might be but she isn’t. She’s overall a healthy happy cat. I feel that our cat is special because we really wanted a white cat with blue eyes. We searched shelters up and down to look for our dream cat. We looked for months until finally our beautiful skittles appeared. She had the best temperament and she was so beautiful with her white coat and beautiful blue eyes. We feel that we manifested her into our lives and are so thankful for her. 5 days ago skittles went outside to walk around for a bit in our patio and when it was time for her to come back in she was nowhere to be found. 5 days later and we finally found her miraculously hiding in a bush injured and crying. She broke her leg and was covered in dirt and had a bite mark on her head as well. We are unsure if a dog bit her and also thinking she might’ve fallen from something. We brought her into the vet clinic and the doctor said he isn’t comfortable doing his surgery so we will be needing to take her to a specialist to do the surgery. We are looking at costs anywhere from 3-5k is what the doctor told us. It’s a lot of money that we don’t have.

Photo of Pixel

Pixel

Pixel is a 3-year-old Shorthair Cat in Washington, NJ, who needs $2,000 for Perineal Urethrostomy.

Washington, NJ

We adopted Pixel (and brother Glitch) from a rescue. They had been "rescued" from 2 locations already. My 3 boys (15, 12, 7 years) and I spent 1 1/2 hours at the foster home trying to catch Pixel so we could adopt both cats together. Glitch was very outgoing, but Pixel was very nervous and timid. The foster home asked us not to adopt one without the other because they were so closely bonded. It took a long time for Pixel to trust us. He spent much of the first few months hiding under my son's bed. His brother was very protective and encouraged Pixel to come out. We have a dog who eagerly wanted to be friends with Pixel. The cats just turned 3 last week. My kids love to play with them and I love snuggling up on the couch every evening with them in my lap. A nice way to unwind. Pixel has turned out to the the braver of the two cats. They still hide when we have company, but Pixel will pop out on scouting missions to see if it is safe to come out from bedroom. He also has no issues sitting on his brother and pushing him off of my lap when he wants to be pet. Pixel sits on my 7 year old's bed every night when we read together before bed. Pixel had emergency surgery for a blockage, put on special diet. We almost lost him once already. Last month he blocked again, his fur has not grown in yet from the IVs. The animal hospital did an amazing job despite Pixel going nuts from stress in the exam room and had to be sedated. He kept ripping out his IVs and catheter and refused to eat at the hospital. I recently opened a reading center to help children recover academically from COVID. We lost our health insurance benefits and I am putting everything I make into the business. We incurred $7,500 in 6 months for Pixel. He is blocked again and needs a permanent solution.

Sparky

Sparky is a 2-year-old Bernedoodle in Canton, MI, who needs $2,000 for Wound Debride and Closure and Neuter.

Canton, MI

Sparky is only 2 years old but it feels like he’s been with us forever. He’s so smart he knows the names of his toys and everyone in the family. He’s an emotional support dog for my granddaughter and immediately knows when she’s had a tough day. I can’t imagine life without him. He’s gentle and loving Sparky came into our lives when he was 9 weeks old. We were all excited because we had waited for months. Sparky immediately bonded with my 10 year old granddaughter and they have been inseparable ever since. Sparky knows the sound of the school bus and runs to the front window watching and whining for Sophia. Once he gets a glimpse of her he runs to the door. He is a vital member of the family Sparky is a Velcro dog. You may think he’s sleeping so you get up to use the bathroom and when you look up there he is. Being with his family is what makes him happy and us too. Life wouldn’t be the same without him he brings a calm over everyone that meets him He can even count, he gets 3 treats after dinner and he will stare you down if he’s shorted them. Sparky was accidentally knicked with the clippers at the groomer and in no time the Knick got infected his belly and between his legs. The vet put him on strong antibiotics. But 3 days later we noticed his testicular area was now very swollen and purple. The vet added a second antibiotic and wash. now everything is black and the ER vet says ER surgery is the only way to save him My husband passed away during COVID so the past 2 years have been rough. It was sudden and unexpected and drastically changed finances. Sparky has brought joy back to the home. My granddaughter pleaded with me to not let sparky die like grandpa did.

Luna

Luna is a 4-year-old Medium Hair Domestic Cat in Hutchinson, MN, who needs $347 for Treatment of Infection.

Hutchinson, MN

I got my cat on a friend's farm along with her sister in October of 2018. She lives with me my 3 kids and her sister in a town house she is normally pretty active.she runs and plays with her sister up and down the stairs she sleeps with me by my feet. She truly is another child to me and would be devastating to have to get rid of her due to not being able to afford her vet bills. She sleeps with me by my feet. Snuggles my kids when they lay on the floor in the living room alway curious when new people come over. She's always looking for pets from anyone even if it's their foot. She's so relaxed around my kids she doesn't bite just growls. She is a very big piece of the family. She is known as "fat cat" to my kids. She rolls on her back and sleeps and tries hiding in small places she comes running for treats and chirps for you to give them to her. She chirps instead of meowing. She eats some people food like she loves mcdonalds chicken nuggets and popcorn. She lays on anything she thinks is comfy. Lunas rear end is covered in urine and feces. She will pee on anything if she needs to go potty. She has lost energy as time went on. She has been sick for a week and a half due to being unable to paycheck vet bills. She has been eating and drinking normally but is losing energy fast. She needs help. I'm a single mom to 3 amazing children living off social security my funds and tight and If I come home without Luna me and my kids will be devastated she really is another one of the family.

Sugar Seeley

Sugar Seeley is a 3-year-old Shorthair Calico in Sparks, NV, who needs $419 for Stomatitis.

Sparks, NV

Sugar came into our lives a couple years ago when my Grandson and I were in PetsMart in Sparks and saw this beautiful calico that was missing one of her eyes up for adoption, we immediately fell in love and adopted her that day. She lives in a house with two black kitties Bishop and Aubrey and a black pitbull named Kesha (all rescues or adoptions). Sugar sleeps next to me every night (along with the other three), she loves to go out into the catio and lay in the sun and follows anyone she can around the house. She loves to play with the other kitties and my Grandkids as well, she is a doll and very friendly with anyone and everyone, she loves life. Sugar is special in that she only has one eye but you'd never know it, she does hold out her paw when Kesha walks by and in front of her when approaching anything new or strange in the house, a bowl, a box, it's pretty cute to watch her, she is the sweetest little kitty ever. She also loves to sit in the sink and put her paws in the water. Sugar was making weird sounds with her mouth almost like something was stuck in her mouth, I checked and didn't see anything but noticed an odor so I took her in and was told she has stomatitis basically where the kitty is allergic to her own teeth, very painful an 16 of her teeth need to be removed, she is in a lot of pain, she is on the list for surgery and they are trying to bump her up. I have no emergency fund for this and don't qualify for the care credit, she is a member of our family and we just want her better and back to her healthy self. Thank you in advance.

Miso

Miso is a Siamese kitten in San Antonio, TX, who needs $2,000 for Feline Panleukopenia.

San Antonio, TX

Two weeks ago we adopted Miso. He was a Valentine’s Day gift for our family. My son and husband have been wanting a cat for a long time and it was so fun to surprise them with Miso. We are so in love with our kitten. He has been the perfect cat for our family. He fits in with our little pack. He has brought us so much joy since knowing him. Miso is a spirited and curious kitten. He loves to play with our 3 year old son and our 11 year old black lab. Miso is so bright - he has been great at using the potty in the litter box and “talks” to us and let’s us know he is hungry by meowing at the pantry where we store his food. He loves to play chase with our son. Miso is a talker! He has been very vocal about what he wants and needs. He is our entertainment- we love watching him explore new things with intense curiosity. He loves his cat tunnel and rolls around all through the house in it. For a little kitty he has already acquired quite the toy collection and we love to see him explore and play. Friday afternoon when we got home from work we noticed that Miso had vomited. He seemed tired and was not hungry for dinner which is not like him. All he wanted to do was cuddle. Saturday morning I took him to VCA Becker Animal Hospital where he later tested positive for Feline Panleukopenia. He has been at the hospital receiving around the clock care to beat this! We do not want to euthanize him just for financial reasons. We want him to live! The costs are adding up so fast and we did not anticipate the astronomical bills. We need support to keep fighting for Miso.

Lola

Lola is a 9-year-old Maltese in Glen Cove, NY, who needs $1,502 for optho enucleation.

glen cove, NY

Lola was given to me as a gift 9 years ago on May first. I was in a really bad time in my life going through depression. Was recovering from a very bad car accident and a friend gave her to me to get me into a better place. I have had 4 surgeries in the last 2 years and every time i come home from the hospital she is there wagging her tail and keeps me company. My Lola sleeps in my bed with me. My son and i fight over where she should sleep. Now that she is sick and is blind she of course stays with me because i have to give meds every 4 hours and i have to watch her because she has fallen off of our beds but i have put a lot of quilts and pillows around the bed just incase she does fall. She is what keeps me calm when i start to get anxiety. It will mean the world to have Lola healthy for her many years left i need her with me to help me heal. i have had many intestinal surgeries and will find out this week if i need 5th surgery so i have been in and out of work for past 2 yrs and having trouble making ends meet Lola was dx's with Diabetes a month ago from Dr Park at Glen animal hospital in Glen Cove NY. Less then 5 days later dx'd with cataracts and unable to see. She was put on 4 units of Insulin twice a day. 2 wks later we had to rush her VMCLI in West Islip NY where she was dx's with glaucoma and at risk of having to have her eye removed she is now on total of 6 meds throughout the day She has her partner Diesel my sons dog and they are always together. Since she has been sick and lethargic and went blind Diesel has bonded closer to her. Before she got sick she was an amazing catcher and diesel would be upset now he lets me giver her het treat in her mouth first before he takes his. She is tiny but still acts like she is a big dog if she hears the door. She is our life.
