Kapten

Kapten is a 7 year old Siberian Husky in Mount Prospect, IL, who needs $10,000 for Hyperparathyroidism.

Mount Prospect, IL

Kapten came into our lives 8 years ago. He's a Husky/Cattle Dog mix and has become an inseparable part of our family. I originally wanted a Pomsky, and the breeder wasn't honest about his breed, but I decided he'd be my dog anyway and completely fell in love with him. He might not have been the dog I wanted, but he's the dog I needed. He's the only pet in our household, and his favorite time is wh Kapten was recently diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism, caused by a benign tumor on his parathyroid gland, confirmed by ultrasound at Veterinary Specialty Center in Bannockburn, IL. This isn't a chronic condition we'll manage forever, it's a one-time surgery that can cure it completely. But left untreated, the elevated calcium it's causing puts him at real risk for kidney damage. Huskies a Kapten has the most striking eyes, one blue and one gold, and it's the first thing people notice about him. But what makes him special is how present he is with the people he loves. He's not the kind of dog who's happy just being in the room, he wants to be part of everything. Whether it's a walk around the neighborhood or a lazy afternoon on the couch, he's glued to our side. He's gentle, a littl We're new homeowners, just closed on our first home last year, and between the mortgage and unexpected family circumstances, we don't have $10k+ in reserve for a surgery like this. We're doing what we can on our end, we just need help closing the gap so Kapten gets care.

Help This Family Saved From Euthanasia

Houston, TX • Sunnyside Street Dogs

Nani and her babies found themselves in a Houston county shelter that is known to euthanize whole families due to lack of resources. Their time was up and Nani and all six of her babies were set to lose their lives together simply because there was nowhere for them to go and they had highly treatable medical issues. Nani would lie in the shelter kennel quietly while her puppies pile on top of her. When they would separated, she would whine and pull toward them, desperate to be close again in such a scary environment waiting for help to come, not knowing the end was near. Then Sunnyside Street Dogs Rescue stepped in. On the very same day Nani and her puppies were scheduled to be euthanized, Sunnyside Street Dogs committed to saving the entire family despite the high medical bills that come with saving young puppies. Seven lives walked out of the shelter instead of being lost that day. But getting them out was only the beginning. Nani arrived in rescue needing medical care of her own. She has flea dermatitis with thinning hair and developed an upper respiratory infection. She has started on antibiotics and will need continued veterinary monitoring and follow-up care. Her six puppies need care of their own. All six are underweight, with a body condition score of just 3 out of 9. Because their mom is battling a respiratory infection, the puppies must also be closely monitored for signs of illness. Saving seven dogs at once comes with significant veterinary expenses. Sunnyside Street Dogs is raising at least $2,000 to give this entire family the medical care they need: \- $200 — Nani’s spay - $900 — Spay/neuter surgeries for all six puppies - $450 — Vaccinations and deworming for the six puppies - $350 — Veterinary visits and medications for Nani’s URI - $100 — Follow-up appointments and rechecks These are estimates and aren’t optional expenses. They are the care Nani and her puppies need to become healthy, recover from everything they’ve endured, and eventually be ready for loving homes. Sunnyside Street Dogs gave this family the one thing they desperately needed that day: time. Now they need our help giving them everything that comes next.

Matti

Matti Gave Her Whole Life to People Who Threw Her Away. Now It’s Her Turn to Be Saved

Norwood, MA • Big Little Life Animal Rescue International

Matti is an elderly Mastiff believed to be at least 12–13 years old. She was found wandering through a village, terrified and defensive. Animal control had to sedate her before she could be safely transported. It’s clear that Matti once belonged to someone. We believe she was used for breeding, producing litter after litter until she grew old and sick—then was discarded. When rescuers were finally able to examine her, they found a dog who had been severely neglected. Her coat was filthy and painfully matted, her claws severely overgrown, and she weighed just 84 pounds—about 22 pounds underweight. Matti was suffering from vomiting and diarrhea, infected ears, painful eye discharge, cystitis, urinary stones, and sand in her bladder. But treating her has been incredibly difficult because she is terrified of people. She throws herself against her kennel gate whenever someone approaches. She now receives calming medication and is being transported to the veterinary clinic almost daily for treatment and monitoring. She is also on a special gastrointestinal diet. It would be easy to call Matti aggressive. But we see a frightened, hurting senior dog who may have spent her entire life being used and neglected. We aren't asking her to trust people overnight. We're simply giving her the patience, medical care, and kindness she should have received long ago. Matti has already given people more than enough. Now it's finally her turn to receive. Please help Big Little Life Animal Rescue cover Matti's veterinary visits, testing, medications, calming medication, and prescription food. Your support can give this old girl the chance to experience comfort and compassion in what should be the safest chapter of her life. 💜🐾

Mighty Max

Given away at 1 pound and 6 weeks old, Mighty Max needs your support.

Oakland, NJ • Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge

Too young to leave his mom, Mighty Max was given away at just six weeks old. A week later, he was surrendered to Ramapo Bergen Animal Rescue in critical condition. Max is fighting for his life. He is extremely frail and weighs only 16 ounces. Max was hypoglycemic and dehydrated, in need of immediate 24-hour hospitalization and supportive care to stabilize him. He was crashing fast. With your support, Mighty Max can keep fighting and live up to his name. Please consider a donation to provide Max the intensive support he needs. At just a few weeks old, tiny pups like Max still need the nutrition, antibodies, security, and care their mother provides. Max is a painful reminder of the consequences of irresponsible breeding and sending puppies to homes before they are ready. Thankfully, this tiny fighter is holding on. Diagnostics will determine if Max is so frail from not receiving enough nutritional support or if an underlying medical condition contributed to his decline. At his tiny size, parasites or even missing just a few meals could quickly put him into crisis. They believe Max is a yorkie mix, and this adorable little pup will be seeking a foster home once he is stable enough to leave the hospital. For now, they are cautiously hopeful and giving Max everything he should have had from the beginning; proper nutrition, veterinary care, safety, and the chance to grow stronger. Max deserved a safer start. With your help, we can give him the chance at the healthy, happy life he should have had all along.

Tiggy

Tiggy's Past Doesn't Define Her—Her Heart Does

Cleburne, TX • Foundation of Caring Animal Supporters

Tiggy is 7 years old, toothless, gentle, affectionate, and full of love. She has already been through more than any dog should have to endure, but somehow, she has remained happy, resilient, and grateful for every bit of love she receives. Tiggy came to us from a flea-infested home where she suffered from severe flea dermatitis. She was later attacked by a much larger dog, leaving her with serious damage to her jaw. As a result of her injuries and medical needs, Tiggy has had all of her teeth removed. But none of that has changed the dog she is. Tiggy loves snuggles and belly rubs and is happiest when she's curled up beside her people. She is a gentle companion who wants nothing more than to share her life with someone who will see past everything she's been through and recognize the loving dog underneath it all. Unfortunately, dogs like Tiggy can face additional challenges when it comes to finding their forever homes. Older dogs and dogs with medical histories are sometimes overlooked, even though they have just as much love to give—and often so much gratitude to share. As part of Waggle's DOGust contest celebrating dogs who are easy to love but can have a harder time finding homes, we're raising funds to help provide Tiggy with the additional veterinary care she needs. By supporting Tiggy's campaign and helping us compete in DOGust, you're also helping shine a light on the other older and harder-to-place dogs in our care. If we receive enough public votes to win a DOGust prize, those funds will be used toward the additional veterinary care these dogs need. Tiggy has already survived so much. Now, she deserves to be known for what she is today: a happy, loving girl who still has so much life and love to give. She may be overlooked by some, but Tiggy is more lovable than you can imagine. Please help us give Tiggy the care she needs while continuing to stand behind the older dogs who need us most. Thank you for helping these deserving dogs get the chance to be seen, loved, and cared for. ❤️

Apollo

Help Apollo Spend His Remaining Time Surrounded By Love

Eldridge, AL • Marlee’s Kisses Great Dane Rescue

At 10 years old, Apollo should be enjoying the comforts every senior dog deserves. Instead, he arrived at Marlee's Kisses Great Dane Rescue in desperate need of care. Apollo and a female companion were originally "rescued" by their former owner, but neither was fixed, and Apollo's heartworms went untreated. The pair were bred multiple times before eventually being surrendered when their owner said she no longer had time for them. When Apollo arrived, his condition was alarming. He struggled to walk, his breathing was labored, and he was clearly in pain. He was taken to the veterinarian immediately, where testing revealed the heartbreaking extent of his medical needs. Apollo has an enlarged heart with fluid around it and significant damage from years of untreated heartworm disease. His kidney values are elevated, and X-rays revealed pellets lodged near his spine as well as painful bulging discs. He now requires medication to manage his pain and support his heart, while his kidney function must be monitored closely because some of the medications he needs can place additional strain on his kidneys. Apollo's veterinarian estimates that he may have only around six months remaining, although everyone caring for him hopes he will be given much more time. At this stage, treatment isn't about curing everything that has happened to him. It's about comfort, dignity, and making every day he has is a good one. Apollo will remain with Marlee's Kisses Great Dane Rescue, where he can receive the medical care, monitoring, soft beds, good meals, and love he deserves for however long he chooses to keep fighting. Please consider donating toward Apollo's veterinary care and medications. We cannot change the years behind him, but with your help, we can make sure the time ahead of him is filled with kindness, comfort, and the knowledge that he is deeply loved.

Alamo

Help Alamo Heal After Life-Saving Surgery

Phoenix, AZ • Almost There Rescue

Sweet Alamo and his siblings came into Almost There Rescue’s care after a reservation-owned dog had puppies. Thanks to Adopt A Dog Rescue, which convinced the former family to let the puppies come to us while their adult dogs are being altered to help prevent future litters. Soon after arriving, it became clear that Alamo needed more than routine puppy care. He was diagnosed with Persistent Right Aortic Arch (PRAA), a congenital vascular abnormality that was compressing his esophagus and preventing food from passing normally into his stomach. Alamo struggled with severe regurgitation, dehydration, poor nutrition, and the dangerous risk of aspiration. Thankfully, there was hope! Alamo underwent specialized surgery on July 30 to correct the vascular ring, and his surgical team is encouraged by his prognosis. But his journey isn't over yet. Alamo still needs careful supportive care as his body heals. He is receiving medication to reduce stomach acid and esophageal irritation, daily anti-nausea medication, fluids as needed to keep him hydrated, gradual dietary management, and close monitoring for aspiration and nutritional concerns. He'll also need follow-up evaluations to make sure his recovery stays on track. We're asking for your help to give Alamo the chance his doctors believe he has. Specialized surgery and ongoing veterinary care come at a high cost, and every donation helps Almost There Rescue continue saying yes to puppies like him. Please consider donating toward Alamo's medical care and sharing his story. Together, we can help this little guy put surgery behind him and get back to the most important job of all: growing up.
