Cocoa

Cocoa is a 11 year old Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retriever in Orland Park, IL, who needs $7,000 for Anal Sacculectomy.

Orland Park, IL

I adopted Cocoa from a humane society in Tampa, Florida, three years ago when she was 9 years old. She had been their longest resident after multiple shelter stays and came with severe allergies, chronic ear infections, and a past leg injury. Despite her difficult start, she is incredibly loving. As a 24-year-old teacher living on my own, Cocoa has been my constant companion through adulthood. Cocoa was recently diagnosed with Anal Sac Adenocarcinoma (AGASACA), a cancer of the anal sac glands. Thankfully, testing showed it had not spread, and she underwent surgery at VCA Aurora Animal Hospital in Illinois to remove the tumor. She is awaiting results to determine if radiation is needed and will require ongoing monitoring. Hearing "cancer" was devastating, but I am grateful we caught it e Cocoa loves everyone, people, children, and other animals. She has made friends through doggy daycare and the children I babysit. She is a lovable weirdo with no spatial awareness who thinks she is a lap dog. Her favorite things are belly rubs, car rides, and being close to her people. She has been my best friend and source of comfort through every stage of my adult life. As a third-year teacher living on my own, Cocoa's cancer diagnosis and surgery costs were completely unexpected. With a move back to Florida and graduate school ahead, any support will help me focus on her recovery instead of overwhelming medical bills.

Susie

Susie is a 4 year old Dalmatian in Bakersfield , CA, who needs $1,752 for Multiple Dental Extractions.

Bakersfield, CA

I adopted Susie from a shelter in 2021, thinking I was giving a homeless dog a second chance, but in many ways she ended up rescuing me. As a 74-year-old veteran living alone with PTSD and hearing loss, Susie Susie has become far more than a pet—she is my constant companion, my source of comfort, and my closest friend. Susie is not just my dog—she is family. Susie urgently needs three teeth extracted, including one with a painful abscess. Her veterinarian at Stiern Veterinary Hospital warned that if the infection is not treated, it could spread and lead to sepsis, a life-threatening condition. The procedure is necessary to relieve her pain, stop the infection, and protect her overall health and well-being. Seeing my beloved dog suffer breaks my heart As a 74-year-old veteran living alone, Susie gives me a reason to smile every day. She "talks" to me in her own special way, proudly carries her favorite balls around the house, and keeps me company from morning until night. She sleeps beside me on my bed and never lets me feel completely alone. Her unconditional love, loyalty, and gentle presence bring comfort, purpose, and joy to my life. I live on a fixed income, and inflation has made everyday expenses much harder to manage. I carefully budget every dollar and even receive meal boxes from the local senior center to help with food costs. Unexpected veterinary expenses are simply beyond my limited means.

Reo

Reo is a 9 year old Labrador Retriever in chicago, IL, who needs $3,000 for Dental Cleaning, Blood Work, Anesthesia, and X-rays.

chicago, IL

I rescued him all the way from India after my uncle passed away. He was living on a farm, and had I not brought him here, he would have been euthanized. He is my only pet and my entire world. I named him after the place my uncle loved most- Rio. Bringing him home was a journey of love, and I am so grateful to have him by my side today. Our bond is unbreakable; he truly is my best friend. He has always been healthy, but recently, he has started struggling. While chewing a toy, his gums began to bleed severely. It turns out he has severe dental disease. He needs a professional cleaning, X-rays, and potential extractions under anesthesia. If left untreated, the infection could spread to his bloodstream and damage his vital organs. I am terrified of losing my best friend and need to g He is the calmest, most gentle soul. Seeing him try to play with his favorite toy only to stop and walk away because of the pain in his gums absolutely broke my heart. He loves his toys more than anything, and not being able to play hurts us both. He is my constant companion, and I will do anything to get him back to his happy, playful self. He deserves a life free of pain and full of love As a student, I am shouldering this cost alone after flying him here from India. My family is not supportive, and I am currently searching for a second job to cover his care. Any donation will go directly toward his dental procedure and help save his life. Thank you

Tucker

Tucker is a 10 year old American Pit Bull Terrier in Davis, CA, who needs $9,000 for CT Scans and Rounds of Radiation.

Davis, CA

Part of my vet tech program was adopting shelter animals to assist in our education for the year. Tucker was one of them. He and his siblings were confiscated from a dog fighting ring where they were assumed to be bait dogs. When I graduated I brought him home to live with me, my husband and our 2 kids. We moved onto my parents property where he has space to run and play with all the animals! Tucker was diagnosed with a heart based mass at the hospital where I work as a registered veterinary nurse, likely a chemodectoma and the treatment is multiple rounds of radiation. Unfortunately we don’t offer the specialized service that he needs so we have to take him to a specialty hospital. He is otherwise a healthy and happy dog. While the road ahead will be challenging there is hope. Tucker has been in our family for almost 10 years. He’s helped us socialize countless foster kittens, dogs and even a piglet. He is such a happy and sweet boy. Always wagging his tail and smiling. He is my shadow and I can always count on him to make me smile if I’m stressed or had a hard day at work. He overcame many obstacles in his youth and deserves so much more. We live on a fixed income. Raising two teenagers. Raising animals as best we can with quality food and proper wellness care. I have insurance for Tucker but it will only cover a portion of his needs.

Owner-Surrendered Ford Needs Surgery for a Painful Knee Condition

Huntington Beach, CA • OC Pom Rescue

Ford is a sweet 4-year-old Pomeranian who recently found himself in the care of OC Pom Rescue after being surrendered by his previous owner. While we don't know everything he's been through, we do know that he deserves a fresh start—and right now, he needs medical care to get there. After coming into rescue, Ford was diagnosed with a medial patellar luxation, commonly known as a luxating patella. This painful orthopedic condition causes his kneecap to slip out of place, leading to discomfort and instability in his hind leg. Although Ford continues to get around surprisingly well and hasn't let his condition dampen his spirit, the issue will only become more painful over time without surgical intervention. Despite everything, Ford remains a gentle, easygoing little dog. He enjoys relaxing on the couch, playing with his favorite toys, and soaking up attention from the people around him. Everyone who meets him quickly falls in love with his sweet personality. Ford's veterinary team has recommended surgery to correct the luxating patella and help prevent further pain and mobility issues. This procedure will not only improve his comfort and quality of life, but it will also help prepare him for adoption so he can find the loving forever home he deserves. The cost of Ford's surgery and related medical care is estimated at $5,399. As a rescue organization, OC Pom Rescue is committed to giving dogs like Ford every chance at a healthy future, but we cannot do it alone. Please consider making a donation toward Ford's medical care. Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps bring him one step closer to a pain-free life and the fresh start he deserves. Thank you for helping Ford on his journey to healing, happiness, and a forever home.
