After losing two of my Shih Tzus just eight weeks apart, my heart was heavy—but then Hazel came into my life. A breeder I had worked with offered her to me when she was six years old. Now, at 10, Hazel isn’t just a pet—she’s my best friend and my Service Animal, helping me every single day in ways I can’t put into words. About nine months ago, Hazel started developing cataracts—one eye progressed faster than the other, and now both eyes are fully affected. My vet says this is actually a good outcome for her and that surgery can help her regain much of her vision. We have an ophthalmologist price for both 7500. I’ve been researching found a place in Virginia both 3500. Hazel is incredibly special to me. She isn’t just a pet—she’s my best friend, my Service Animal, and my constant companion. She provides me with emotional support every single day, filling my life with love, comfort, and joy. She’s affectionate, loyal, and we travel everywhere together, sharing every moment of life side by side. My girl shadow came into my life about 13 years ago. At this time, we recently just lost a pet so shadow quickly filled a void. She has been by my side through thick and thin ever since. She really help me emotionally with the passing of my dad. Shadow has been through a number of medical conditions and she has pulled through every time. This includes a mass cell tumor, laryngeal paralysis, brain stem, meningioma, hip dysplasia. She has not given up and has fallen through to stay by my side. She know means a neurology consult impossible testing money is tight, but I'm willing to do anything to keep her by my side. I can't put into words how much shadow means to me and my son. We have a special bond that no one will understand she is not ready to go, and I am not willing to let her. I just moved from New York to North Carolina, because I got engaged. I'm currently still helping my retired mother in New York with the mortgage on the house we own together. My fiancé lost his job so I am the only breadwinner. I Live paycheck to paycheck

Facebook marketplace rescue 7 years ago in a gas station parking lot. He had worms and was left outside as a 7 week old puppy. Now he is at home and a big snuggle bug but only with those he trusts. We are lucky to have Tyus because of NC State Vet Services. They supported us every step of the way after finding out Tyus needed life saving surgery for a GDV (gastric dilation and volvulus). All we knew is we didn’t want him to suffer and they were able to give him that chance and keep our little family together. Tyus is our cuddle buddy, best friend, and loves to keep watch of the house from the top of the stairs. He had puffy eyebrows that tell everyone anything they would need to know. He loves a good cheese ball but is a picky eater just like his Dad. Careful if you give him any pets because he will grab your arms with both his paws to make sure you never stop. Sudden major expensive with no emergency funds. We both work in the healthcare field and have fixed incomes with student loans. This has put our family in a very complicated situation and are facing how to support ourselves and him.

Sadie

Sadie is a 6 year old bright, happy, playful, German Shepherd Mix with lots of life still left in her eyes. She loves French Fries as her “once in a while treat”. She loves anyone she meets and she would cuddle you until you made her move. Sadie has struggled with yeast infections in her ears ever since she was a pup. When she was a pup she also had an issue with her leg and I had just assumed she her hurt herself because she was fine up until just a couple of days ago. She came up to me limping, whining, and later realized she wasn’t eating. Sadie is the sweetest pup anyone will ever meet. She works hard with me day in and day out. Shes is a SD and performs her jobs effortlessly. She loves children, loves any baby animals as her own, and will take care of her human, or anyone who needs it, before herself. Even if it’s just licking you endlessly until you feel better. Sadie came up to me nearing four days ago limping, whining, and refusing to eat or walk any extra distance. We haven’t gotten taxes back yet and they want to do XRays and Blood work which I can’t afford alone at the moment as my husband is the only one working right now.

Lola came into my life when I didn’t realize how much I needed her. We got her at 12 weeks old. Lola lives with her human mom and dad, fur brother Bentley and human 5 year old sister. To us she is Lola, to our 5 year old she is baby princess Lola! Lola is only 7 years old and she has a lot of life to go yet. She was just recently diagnosed with genetic cataracts in both eyes. We have been in contact with Eye Care For Animals from a referral through our Veterinarian. We are hoping to have the financial support to ensure that Lola can continue to see life to the fullest with her fur brother and human sister. Lola is not just a dog, she is a best friend to our 5 year old. Our daughter who is in Kindergarten has grown up with Lola. From bringing our daughter home from the hospital laying with Lola on the couch to her coming home now from Kindergarten sitting with her on the floor reading to her. Lola loves to talk (all the time! lol) and sit shot gun on car rides while eating all of the snacks! Living in today’s word with rising prices, working at a Public elementary school and trying to ensure that all the basic needs are met is tough. This is a huge unexpected cost that has been thrown our way. But, our fur baby is worth it all.

I found Clementine through a rescue in 2023. She is the sweetest girl. I can't imagine doing whatever it takes to save her. She has 4 other brothers and sisters. She spends her days napping in my husband's recliner and getting into things she shouldn't Clementine started vomiting after we went to bed. Throughout the night she vomited 10 times. I called her vet and made an appointment for the next morning. That afternoon she started getting sick again. I called her vet back and the suggested that I take her to the ER. She had to have emergency surgery to remove a blockage in her stomach and intestines. Clementine loves spending time cuddled on the couch with you. She is crazy about her Saint Bernard brother. She loves going to day care and playing with her friends there. The cost of Clementines surgery came as a shock. I knew it would be a lot but wasn't expecting the actual cost. Our emergency funds were gone but we figured it out so they would take her. The added monthly bill is going to be a hardship for us.

Ruger

This is Ruger and he is 4 years old. He was born in the middle of the winter. Somehow, he made his way to a home that would take him to their local animal shelter, where he was fortunately adopted out promptly. Unfortunately his new home was just a weekend getaway, and he was promptly returned to the animal shelter. This became a trend for him. That is, until I adopted him. Ruger is plagued by allergies that leave him scratching himself bald. I have used my entire emergency fund and savings to provide for him and his special needs for the last 4 years, but his need is ongoing for allergy medication (Apoquel) and a special diet due to his 113 food allergies including every protein allergy except for Alligator, Kangaroo and Insect protein! Ruger means the world to our family, but more importantly he means the world to our daughter. They have really bonded over the last 4 years and he is her self appointed body guard. Our family chose him after losing the dog we had for 15 years to old age, Duke. Duke was my soul dog and it broke my heart when he passed from old age. After 6 months, my heart was ready when this sweet boy came along. In the midst of adopting Ruger, our daughter developed some health issues that led to many hospitalizations that required her to be removed from school, thus forcing me to leave my job and give up my income to be here to homeschool our daughter.

Scout

Scout is a 2 year old American Bulldog in Lewisville, NC, who needs $4,000 for MRI.

After losing our last dog (of 14 years), we spent three years preparing for the right time to adopt again. We bought a new house with a big yard, fenced it in, and began searching shelters and humane societies and found Scout! Scout is a mixed American bulldog and is 2 years old. We immediately noticed issues with Scout's back legs. Our vet suspected hip dysplasia and recommended waiting a year to neuter him so his remaining testosterone could support joint and muscle development. We did the neuter and had X-rays done. Instead of hip dysplasia, we learned two vertebrae in his neck were fused, which could explain the problem. Scout is the happiest dog I have ever met. He has never met a stranger (human or animal). He loves love and play. Scout can lay around just as well as play hard. He is always happy to please. Scout needs an MRI to provide the needed answers. As difficult as it is to ask, we are seeking help from our community. Please help us give Scout the best chance at the full, happy life he deserves.

Rocco

Rocco is a 12 year old Mix-Breed in Hollywood, FL, who needs $4,200 for Thoracentesis, Oxygen Support, and Medications.

12 years ago, our boy, Rocco was rescued from severe abuse. Today, we're focused on giving him comfort and peace as he faces advanced lung cancer. Rocco was taken in by a nonprofit animal rescue in Texas after he survived broken hips and being shot at. After being rehabilitated in the foster program, my husband and I adopted him at 2 years old and brought him to Florida to start anew. Rocco went to LeadER Hospital after he began coughing and struggling to breathe. Imaging and testing shows he has advanced lung cancer, including a large mass in his lung, signs of spread and fluid buildup in his chest cavity. We've made the heartbreaking decision not to pursue aggressive cancer treatment but focus on comfort care in his last remaining time with fluid drainage and medications. After years of rehabilitation and socialization, Rocco learned to trust people again. He still has certain triggers but will warm up to you fairly quickly especially if you have food. He is also very protective of me and can get jealous if you are not showing him enough love! His favorite things are belly rubs and playing at the beach. He hates getting in the water but will swim only with us. Rocco won't be healthy again due to the severity of the cancer but we want to be able to give him as much comfort as we can in his time left. He deserves a peaceful end compared to his rough upbringing. It's a financially difficult time for our family due to job loss.
