Pepper

Pepper is a 11-year-old Plott Hound Mix in Asheville, NC, who needs $1,500 for Mass Removal.

Asheville, NC

My name is Pepper and I was rescued from the local humane shelter when I was just a baby. I am a little spoiled living with my family and my fur baby sister's Roxy and Zoey. We enjoy our days laying around napping and playing outside in our fenced backyard. I would say that we have it made except for all of the patrolling we have to do to ensure my family's safety. Mom says I am a very good boy but I am very spoiled. I have trained my mom to know just exactly what I want when I want it. My favorite treat in the whole world is milk bones. I have even learned how to knock the milk bone box over to get my own treat. I enjoy spending time cuddled up on the couch with my momma and snuggling. Mom says my special quality is my cuddles. Mom has had to have several surgeries and she says that I am the only thing that has made her feel better while she is getting better because I give such warm and extra sweet cuddles. When I'm not cuddling with my mom, I also like to play and run outside with my two sisters but sometimes my lump gets in the way and it tires me out. I am up to date on all of my vaccinations, my heartworm treatment and my flea and tick treatment. The doctor took a bunch of blood from me yesterday to make sure that I am okay to have surgery. She says that getting this lump off of my chest will make me feel so much better, especially because it's so big and is getting bigger everyday. The past few years have been very difficult as my mom has gone through two major surgeries on her leg after breaking her left leg and her ankle in four places and tearing her ACL and her MCL. Mom is getting better finally but all of the medical bills have been hard.

Lulu

Lulu is a 3-year-old Jack Russell Mix in Roseburg , OR, who needs $1,600 for C-Section.

Roseburg, OR

Prior to coming to us Lulu as a puppy was in a bad situation. She was kept under a sink living in her own filth on newspapers. She was so little. I remember picking her up and even though she smelled bad she burrowed into my jacket. Lulu lives with me and my husband now. She is actually rather spoiled. She has clothes. She is fed well and we play and cuddles she is our baby. Lulu loves the grand babies and my grown children. She is very loving with everyone. She is very playful and loves to give cuddles. When someone comes over she jumps so high with excitement just to see them and greet them. The adult children call her their lil sister. I’m always buying her toys. She is just so loved. Lulu is well trained. She can since others pain and goes out of her way to comfort them. She gets so excited to meet people she will bounce up and down. Or go up and lay her head on their leg. She riding in the car and going new places. I can take in public and she will greet people with a lick of their fingers. She brings a smile wherever she goes. Lulu is pregnant and currently had one pup 24 hours ago and has not had the other three. The vet hospital in Eugene is telling us the cost is 5500 for the procedure. As I said she had the one pup about 24 hours ago but didn’t birth the other three. Periodically she shows signs of labor then it stops. She doesn’t show any signs of distress. But we are scared. It will mean everything. Lulu is not just my pet she is my child. She is part of my family. So obtaining the money to get her help would be a blessing and miracle. Me and my husband are on social security and only get paid once a month. And can’t qualify for any loans.

Caesar 'Sneezy' Smith

Caesar 'Sneezy' Smith is a 9-year-old Rat terrier Dog in Indianapolis, IN, who needs $2,000 for Emergency bladder surgery.

Indianapolis, IN

Caesar was a stray wandering my mom's neighborhood. She sent me his picture and I fell in love at first sight! We've been together 7 years now, and he's truly my best buddy. He's smart, spunky and feisty — much mightier than his size suggests. I recently adopted another rat terrier named Daisy, and he's bonded with his sister. He cleans her every day and plays sheriff when she's not behaving. Caesar loves a cozy bed, and he's often found sleeping belly up with his paws in the air. He loves walks, of course, playing with all his toys, and hangin' with mom and demanding belly rubs. He's extremely smart and is good at communicating exactly what he wants. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but he recently learned roll over at around age 9! Caesar has lots of nicknames, but the most popular is Sneezy. He gets so excited when I come home that he smiles and then gets into a sneezing attack. He has endless funny terrier quirks. He loves walks but doesn't appreciate runners one bit, so I have to keep him close when one goes by so they don't get an ankle nip. He loves bath time and a good blow dry after, followed by some zoomies. Caesar is currently in the vet hospital. He had emergency surgery for bladder stones - one that was completely blocking his urethra and threatening his kidney function. He's not out of the woods yet because he also had sepsis, but he's recovering & holding steady. I'll pay any amount to get him better, but the vet bills are at about $12,000 & growing, and I'm running out of funding sources to tap I had some savings, but certainly not enough to cover vet bills this large. I've also reached my limit with Care Credit. I just want to be able to pay for all the care needed to bring my boy home. He is so loved!

Greyson

Greyson is a 12-year-old domestic short hair in LOS ANGELES, CA, who needs $438 for stay cat wellness check before adoption.

LOS ANGELES, CA

Greyson is a 12-year-old stray cat. He has been wandering around our neighborhood with a lame leg since a little kitten. During these years, as a community stray, a few neighbors fed him. I am one of them and the only one who has consistently fed him for about 6-7 years. He has a special part in my heart. As a senior cat with a lame leg, letting him live on the streets would be really cruel. I decided to adopt him and gave him a forever home for the rest of his life. He is a sweet boy really deserves a lot of love after having a rough life for more than 12 years. I am looking forward to cuddling him every day. No more homeless for Greyson. In the past 6-7 years, Greyson showed up on my stairsteps on daily basis. I have had a special bond with him. If I didn't see him in a couple of days, I would search for him everywhere in our community to make sure he was OK. After eating, he would like to rest on my doorsteps and enjoy the sunshine. It's a beautiful scene you would never be tired to see. He has been part of my life. About two weeks ago, he showed up with a big mass on his face and refused to eat. Our neighbor worked with a rescue group that provides minimal emergency care. They fixed him and gave him some antibiotics. They also told me that Greyson could not go back outside anymore based on his condition. The vet suggested putting him down if he would be released on the street again. In order to save Greyson from being put down, I have decided to adopt him. I took him to my vet and got him tested and made sure having all the necessary vaccine shots. It cost more than 400 dollars. I already have two cats and two dogs. These costs are a big burden for me.

Photo of Kiyomi

Kiyomi

Kiyomi is a 2-year-old Rottweiler/Doberman in Waldorf, MD, who needs $1,900 for bone plating, fracture stabilization, and implants/instrumentation.

Waldorf, MD

We adopted our fur baby from a rescue center in Waldorf, Maryland. She and her siblings were abandoned. My stepson’s family were fostering her and 2 month old siblings. I have never wanted a pet until I saw her. My family took to her immediately. My nephew lost his mother last year. He is in the pictures with Kiyomi. He seems at peace when he comes over to play with her. Kiyomi loves children and her family. She runs over to the neighbors to say hello when she is outside. She is very protective of little ones (puppies and children) and my father. My father is a veteran and came to live with us when he was released from the nursing home. Kiyomi stands watch when the nurses and therapists conduct his visits. She is a wonderful, playful pup. My household income has significantly decreased since the onset of coronavirus. My husband has been out of work but luckily is there to help with my dad’s 24 hour needed care. I am having kidney surgery next week. I don’t have the money to repair my pup’s leg. Kiyomi got off the leash to chase a rabbit. When she ran off before, she ran to the neighbor’s yard and came right back when called. This time she ran through to the sidewalk while chasing the rabbit. Before my husband could reach her, a car ran up on the sidewalk, hit her, then kept going. She is at Friendship Hospital on Brandywine St in NW D.C. Vet is Last Chance Animal Rescue Waldorf, MD. Kiyomi naturally acts like a service dog which is why she is so protective of my father. She comes to my bedroom to get one of us when my dad coughs or wakes up and senses sadness and when someone feels ill. When my only sibling died from pancreatic cancer, I was upset beyond believe. Kiyomi would lay next to my feet or lay under my legs. On very bad days she would lay her head on my lap.

Leeloo

Leeloo is a 3-year-old Boston Terrier in Bolingbrook, IL, who needs $1,500 for Cancer Treatment for Oral Mast Cell Tumor.

Bolingbrook, IL

Leeloo is our beloved Boston Terrier. She is 3 years old and lives with her human family including 2 older human sisters. She loves to sleep in bed with her parents and loves to snuggle. Even throughout her illness, she has never lost her energy and will to live. She is our inspiration and we are doing everything we can to extend her life. Leeloo loves her humans and we love her! She loves cuddling with anyone who is warm. She loves strangers and other dogs. She loves warm laps and being around humans and other animals. She is a snuggler! She is respectful of your presence and she appreciates everyone that is around her regardless of the environment! I lost my job due to my stroke and lasting medical issues. I am currently on disability. I hope to get better one day and continue to see medical treatment. Leeloo has been a God send and I can't imagine her not in my life. She has helped me through so much! Earlier this year, we noticed the left side of Leeloo’s mouth was swollen. Upon inspection, we saw a growth or blister on her gum line. She was then diagnosed with mast cell tumor (cancer). Her vet is VCA Animal Hospital in Aurora, IL. and she is being treated by Dr. Rippy and Dr. Sowders and all of their wonderful staff! Ten years ago, at the age of 31, I suffered a stroke. Since then and because of other medical issues, I’ve been struggling emotionally and financially. My Leeloo was love at first sight. When I saw her, I knew she would immediately become part of our family. She has helped me through depression, emotional anxiety and everything in between.

Nino

Nino is a 1-year-old Mix in Magee, MS, who needs $623 for surgery for a gunshot wound.

Magee, MS

I live in Magee Ms. I've had my dog Nino since he was a puppy and since I have no children I consider him as my child we live in a one bedroom house and he stays inside with me except when he goes out to use the bathroom. He sleeps with me every night and pretty much stays by my side all the time. I own a house that is on my mom's property so my mom and I are right next to each other side by side. Nino is a very calm and LAYED back dog. He is spoiled to the max. My mom is currently on home hospice and she is dying with less than 5% lung function and nino keeps her company he loves laying beside her bed and he will sit there with her for hours at a time and he's as gentle as can be. I also have three small nephews and a nice that he loves playing with in the house. As I said before my mom is on home hospice therefore I had to stop working and come home to take care of her and the only income she has is disability every month so I cannot afford the vet bill to be able to bring my dog home where he belongs please help me. About a week ago I let Nino out to use the bathroom and he was shot by my neighbor. My neighbor has a female dog that was chained to a truck next to our fence and she was in heat. As soon as I let Nino out he started walking towards the fence line, Before he made it to the fence I hear two gunshots. My neighbor shot him The bullet went through both of his back legs causing him to almost bleed out Since nino was a puppy he's been very clingy to me and I've taught him that when i lay down for bed I'll say nino lay with mommy and he will literally throw himself over my stomach and turn upside down and go straight to sleep. If someone comes close to my porch while I'm asleep he'll take his head and push at my face or hand until I get up and check the door. He's got an amazing personality.
