Captain Jack Sparrow joined our family on August 6, 2016 when he was 2 months old, and he has been with us his entire life. He and his brother, Captain William Turner (one year younger, half brother- same father) joined us the following year and they are the heart of our family. We want to give them the world because they have enriched our lives beyond measure. Our vet referred us to Quartet Veterinary Hospital, and they are handling Jack's care; he is scheduled for TPLO surgery on his left leg. At our consultation appointment, x-rays showed that his right leg looks as bad as the left, and will probably need surgery as well once the left leg is healed. We didn't think his left leg was in such rough shape, and news of the right leg was a total shock. Jack is smart, intuitive, loving, protective, sweet, caring, and so funny. He's always been our baby and makes us feel loved in a way we didn't know was possible. He is stoic and a really tough little guy, so seeing him struggling to move around the way he was able to before has been really difficult because we're doing everything we can, but we still want to do more. This has happened quickly and unexpectedly. Jack is hurting and we want to do whatever we can to give him the best quality of life, so he can get back to doing all the things he loves. With surgery and vet care, $8000 is the the low end of what we're looking at for one leg.

Nina

Nina is a 14 year old Chihuahua in San Antonio, TX, who needs $2,000 for Heart Murmur and Fluid Abstraction.

We adopted Nina in 2017 which was 7 yrs of age from another owner that couldn’t care for her since she had other dogs that were to aggressive to her. We were told Nina would have Seizures, we later found out that she would only have them when really frighten. Only happened a handful of times with us. She has had Brest Cancer in 2022 Nina is a lovable dog and has been with us for a long time. She is the Alpha in our family and holds a special place in our hearts. Our whole Family feels the same way. Nina recently was diagnosed with a heart murmur and needs constant medical procedures since it causes fluid retentions in her abdomen. It has to be abstracted with needle injections and medication. Which is costly. With my recent separation from my husband, unable to afford.

Jax mom was a stray, the rescue didn't know she was pregnant. Jax & 3 sisters were born 4/17/23. I've had him since 8 weeks. He's very smart but also stubborn, he has been my little shadow since I got him. He goes everywhere with me. He sleeps with me, eats with me, rides in the car. He's not fond of the vet we have. He's got a huge yd to play with his toys and yes he's very spoiled. Jax had to start getting his hair inside his ears pulled, it's a thing with poodles. A little while after (6 mo) he started scratching & shaking his head so I took him to the same vet 6 times, 1 culture and 3 different meds and he's still broken. Now both ears are infected and swollen and hurt. I try to keep them clean but the brown wax comes back with a vengeance. I hate him suffering. Jax literally saved my life!!! He loves me, curls up by me, gives kisses. He's quick to learn tricks and even talks when I ignore him. He's my best buddy! He loves homemade cookies too. But like I said before he's very stubborn, does what he wants and I thank God I have him. I don't want to see him suffer with swollen painful ears. He has a cousin Oliver the pitbull that he beats up daily. I have spent all my savings on this, I have no credit cards and my credit is in the pooper. I need...to get him into a vet that can treat his ears, so I can stay on top of it if it comes back. If not treated, i was told he could go deaf, the infection could get to his brain.

Lonex

We adopted Lonex from a rescue in 2020. He was so small and the runt of a litter that was born in the shelter. He was only 9 weeks old when we got him. He has been my rock the last 4.5 years we've had hum and he is my heart dog. Lonex went into the get last week with an infection. Since then he has been getting worse every day. Monday evening he was admitted to the hospital with severe anemia, where he still remains. They are running tests to try to find out what is happening and how gest to treat him. He is currently at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Matthew's. He loves to lay next to me anytime I sit down and he follows me around the rest if the time. He love to chase toys. He is my spoiled baby and makes sure he continues to be spoiled anytime he doesn't think he's getting enough attention. His case is very complex and the amount of the tests and hospitalization have drained my savings. He is still so young and my funds are now limiting his treatment options.

Haru

We adopted Haru 4 months ago. He's a very loving, very stubborn, happy puppy that we've raised since he was 11 weeks old. As college students, we make sure Haru has all his food, toys, and goes on different excursions since we live on somewhat of a budget. Since we adopted Haru, he has struggled with frequent bouts of diarrhea every other week or so. Over the past few days, it has grown more severe with bloody stools, lethargy, and a diminished appetite. Now hospitalized, our pupper is needing surgery to remove a foreign object in his intestines to avoid them from rupturing and losing him in the process. Haru is a special boy that barks at anything with wheels or that outputs air. Some of his past times include chasing the vacuum, doing parkour on the furniture, and going on car rides with mom and dad. He's extremely smart, defying all puzzles and obstacles that go before him. At the end of the day, he likes tummy scratches as he falls asleep. Myself and Haru's mom are both in college, but she is in the middle of a job transition and I work part-time given my own health issues. Our finances have taken a hit with the sudden vet bills. As a 6 month old lovebug, we want him to be with us healthily for years to come.

We adopted Ella in 2014, she is a rescue. She has been a meaningful and significant cornerstone of our family ever since. She has a large growth in her mouth that may be cancerous. At nearly 13 years old, we want to give her the relief and comfort she deserves for all the love she’s given our family. Ella, nearly 13, has a large, abnormal growth along her gumline that sticks out from her mouth and causes discomfort. While not an emergency, it’s worsening and may be cancerous. Through the years her vet has been Franklin Ranch Pet Hospital in Elk Grove, CA. It has been there for over a year and doesn’t impact her eating but recently it has worsened. We really want to give her relief from this. Ella is a rare soul—loving, calm, and deeply connected to each of us. We have five boys, and she has been especially comforting to our youngest, now 15, and his brother, who were victims of a crime in 2017. Her gentle presence has helped carry us through the hardest years. She is a little slower these days but still loves the outdoors and still makes us laugh. We live on a limited income and can’t afford Ella’s surgery. She’s been there for us through everything, especially our boys. Helping her now would be a way to give her back some of the comfort she’s given us. We want her to have comfort in these latter years.

Dancer & I have been family since Jan 2015, when I adopted him from Best Friends Animal Society. I had recently lost my cat Gus and upon reading Dancer's "Pet of the Week Bio", I just knew we were meant to be together. He's the sweetest, snuggliest, most lovable pup, with such a fun personality. He loves our road trips and adventures. He's quirky and smart, loves to play, and is a bundle of love. While seeing a Dr Rossi at BluePearl Pet Hospital for a urinary tract infection follow-up, a mass/growth in Dancer's colon was discovered. Dancer has excellent health insurance with Trupanion, but they aren't covering the entire cost of the procedure to safely remove the mass. Dancer loves the snow! We were living in NH when I adopted him and one of his favorite things to do was play in the snow; he jumps and bounds like a reindeer through hip-high snow with such joy! Now that we're in CA, he loves the sand at the beach but is not a fan of the waves! He makes sure he never gets too close to the water as he runs through the sand and enjoys the breeze, birds, and people. My mom was diagnosed with AML in Feb and it's been my honor & privilege to care for her. As a contractor w/ no paid leave and my focus on my mom 24/7, my income dropped to barely anything. Dancer's my heart & my constant companion; I need him! We have more adventures to do!

Fendi came into my life after my previous pet passed away my daughter knew how hurt I was and told me tovlook for another dog I want an she would get it for me after alot of scams an disappointment I went to AMC to find a breeder near me and located one and she had 2 puppies left a boy and a girl I got the girl Fendi has been diagnosed with cancer that has moved to her jaw bone she has a good prognosis if she gets it removed they will have to remove part of her jaw bone but the surygen said that she is still so young she would still have a fulfilling good life she would have to learn how to chew her food again but with her experience she has seen many dogs recover and eat normally an she works at uc dav My fendi is very special to me she is all I have we gave gone threw so many obstacles this past year and we continue to keep going I can't give up on her we all we got she helps me mentally when things get to hard she gives me a reason to not give up she gives me joy idk what I would do without her she helps me when I'm sick or hurting myself an she doesn't give up on me so I refuse to give up I recently lost my apartment due to a violent relationship and am currently unemployed due to my ex employer not wanting to get in trouble for giving me my time off anyways

We didn’t plan to rescue a dog that day—we went to adopt a puppy. But when we arrived, we found a breeder with over 10 dogs in cages. In the very back was a tiny 3.5-pound dog, too frail to move, who wasn’t even listed for adoption. The breeder said he stopped eating and wasn’t worth keeping since he couldn’t produce more puppies. He had a broken leg, a retained testicle, and severe dental disease. The vet said his teeth look like he’s 8 or older, not 3.5 years. He was used for breeding even though he wasn’t healthy enough, and then discarded when he didn’t produce. He lived his life in a cage He major dental work and neutering, totaling over $1800.We’ve paid the first vet bill, but we need help to give him a pain free life Kiko doesn't play much and that would defintitley be due to his past trauma and abuse. Although the months that hes lived with us we can see him slowly coming out of his shell and actually getting excited and running. He always wants to go wherever we are going and tags along with us on every errand. We are in need in financial assistance as I am the only one who has been able to work this year. We're falling behind on bills and we don't want to push back our little ones' health any longer than we have to knowing how much pain he is in with everyday that goes by.
