Bonita

Bonita is a 11 month old Mix-Breed in Los Fresnos, TX, who needs $2,000 for Diaphragmatic Hernia Repair.

Los Fresnos, TX

Bonita is a stray we picked up from some empty fields this past July. She is estimated to be 11months. We took her to the local shelter and they declined to take her because they were full. She is not microchipped. We looked for owners & posted her in local lost dog pages, but no one claimed her. We looked for a rescue but didn't have luck. With time, we fell in love & we decided to keep her. A few weeks ago she started gagging nonstop, but nothing would come out. We took her to the vet That morning she was taken to the vet and x-rays were run. It was through then that her diaphragmatic hernia was found. Most her organs are in her chest cavity putting pressure on her heart and lungs. Her surgery will be on 12/4/24 at Violet Crown Veterinary Specialists in Bee Cave, TX. Bonita is only 11 months and is 15lbs. She had to live on the streets on her own and fend for herself. This is all aside from what's going on insude of her. Regardless of all this, she remains a sweet & loving spirit. She loves playing with her furry siblings, even if they are 3-4 times her size. She was so eager to earn love, that she learned how to sit and give paw in just a few tries. We currently have 7 doggies in our care. The reason we have so many dogs is because our area (Rio Grande Valley, TX) is filled with doggies living in the streets. All of the doggies we have are rescues from the streets or local shelters.

Doris

Doris is a 4 month old Mix-Breed in Roseburg, OR, who needs $2,000 for Right Lateral Consular Fracture.

Roseburg, OR

I took in a friend that was homeless so his dog that was due any day could have her puppies in a safe place. Doris’s sac didn’t rupture and she wasn’t breathing I removed the sac an got her breathing. My “friend” took off in the middle of the night with mama dog leaving me with all the pups at just 3 weeks old. I found them all good homes but I couldn’t bring myself to let Doris go. Doris broke her elbow at only 4 months old she wasn’t breathing I running down the stairs and jumped the last couple stairs. The vet it’s common in puppies the force from landing all her weight on her front legs is just too much. It’s on her growth plate so she has to be able to move it or it won’t grow properly so they will put 2 screws and a plate in her elbow to hold the bones in place. Doris has such a loving spirit! Her playful energy lights up our home, and she has an incredible ability to make everyone around her smile. She loves to cuddle and is always so excited to greet new people. Her favorite game is tug of war where her little growls are bigger then she is. She always has us laughing at the funny faces she makes and spontaneous zoomies she’d get in her sleep. Puppies only have a short time to be puppies. I think about how happy and she was before the accident. I see her galloping over to me with her tongue hanging out her mouth her silly look on her face. I haven’t seen that since she broke her elbow, alm I want is her happiness

Lucy

Lucy is a 12 year old Dachshund in Austin, TX, who needs $1,635 for Enucleation of One Eye.

Austin, TX

Lucy has been a part of my family's life for 12 years. She was gifted to us by my boss when I worked retail in college. She loves to be active and has so much energy. She has gone through many housing changes and she has been a companion during many grieving periods for us and her loyalty has kept us grounded. She now lives with my boyfriend and I, along with my boyfriend's dog Kevin. Lucy has severe uveitis + cataract. I took her to San Antonio to see an ophthalmologist and he recommended removal of the eye. For now, she is on pain meds and eye drops for the swelling. It came on quickly and we have surpassed $1k in bills. Luckily, I was able to afford that, but now I am faced with prolonging her surgery until I can afford the rest. Anything helps us get her relief sooner. Lucy has brought our family together and has helped us heal as individuals. Our family has been through a lot of difficult and traumatic loss, and for many years that impacted how we were able to interact as family. Lucy has somehow brought us together, and has guided us towards healing through her company and resilience. She is my angel. I had to move unexpectedly as well as have my mom as a dependent for a year after her partner died. I am still recovering financially from that situation, and had to take on debt to make ends meet. Right now, I want to bring Lucy relief & comfort, the same way has for us.

Gigi

Gigi is a 14 year old Jack Russell Terrier in Cardiff by the sea, CA, who needs $1,600 for Reattachment of the Third Eyelid.

Cardiff by the sea, CA

Gig was left behind when my sister experienced a dual brain aneurism caused from the Covid vaccine. Gigi was shuffled from place to place awaiting my sisters recovery. I traveled to Iowa in hopes of providing care for my sister when Gigi was brought back home. Once it became clear my sister would need constant medical attention Gigi and I had bonded and there was no way I could leave her. Gigi has a small cherry eye, I noticed when I kept the surrounding hair clean it would clear up. I was bathing her washing the area when Gigi pulled away and let out yelp. The wash cloth must have grabbed the hair tearing the third eyelid causing it to swell now covering most of the eye. She needs surgery to re-attach the lid via Surgipet located in Carlsbad,Ca. The 1st night Gigi & I met she was brought home by a neighbor expecting my sister to be there she sat @ the door. Around 11pm she scratched at the door so I let her out to go potty, she was sprayed by a skunk. I spent the entire night bathing her until she could open her eyes & the smell went away. She’s never left my side since. We traveled together from Iowa to Ca. Camping & bonding the entire. I’m in the middle of disputing the denial of my temp disability benefits. My son was recently diagnosed with a vascular necrosis and is scheduled for a hip replacement tomorrow. I have no transportation and have been walking 3 miles to and from the hospital with Gigi.

Bubbah

Bubbah is a 20 month old Old English Bulldog in Gibsonia , PA, who needs $600 for Diagnosis and Treatment.

Gibsonia, PA

So Bubbah is the sweetest boy but he didn't know what love was until he was about 4-5 months old. I rescued him from a man that never intended for him to be a pet. He was merchandise. But when I was asked to check on this bulldog, he was punched, burned, beat and left without food and water for for 10 days. I picked him up from the dark basement and I told the man I'm taking him or calling cops. Bubbah is about a year and 9 months now. Bulldogs are expensive but I need him more than he needs me. I think he knows that too. But he had recurring ear infections and I think he may have a parasite. We have about 30 acres, a creek in the back yard and he drinks from it against my advice so there's potential for infections there. I'm waiting for disability income due to 6 crushed vertrbre. Since I can't work or I won't get my disability income Bubbah is my world. We go on multiple walks a day. Play tug of war and chase deer in the back yard. He has a neighbor girlfriend 4 times his age. And a pit mix friend that's cones over and plays with him. He loves going to the stores and get all kinds of attention and pictures taken. He tried to skateboard but just rolls it back and forth. Since I cannot work or I'll lose my disability income which I'm in the midst of applying a second time, I can't afford everything he needs right now. I feel terrible because I am not working and need help getting him back to 100%. He's been through alot really needs help.

River

River is a 5 year old American Pit Bull Terrier in Poplar Bluff, MO, who needs $2,000 for Cranial Cruciate Ligament Repair.

Poplar Bluff, MO

River came into my life 5 years ago. I saw her photo on a local pound’s Facebook page and her sweet little frown made me fall in love instantly. I knew I was meant to be her Momma. She had some health problems at first, being diagnosed with kennel cough and severely malnourished, but we loved her back to life, and she’s been my best friend ever since. River was diagnosed with a torn ACL one month ago after jumping the fence in our back yard. Since then we have been managing her pain with prescription medication, an orthopedic brace and some at home physical therapy exercises. However, she just doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Surgery to repair her torn ACL was recommended by our local Veterinarian Dr. Jarret at Hillcrest Animal Hospital. River is the most loving and loyal Dog you will ever see. She is gentle and kind, showing her affection by laying her head in your lap or forcing you to hold her paw. She is immeasurably special to our family and everyone who meets her loves her instantly. My 15 year old daughter has severe anxiety and River is her source of comfort and happiness. Our family is asking for help raising the 3,773.00 needed for River’s ACL repair procedure. Without this she will never live a normal life again. We are a middle class family and this sudden, extremely costly expense is simply beyond our financial means. We are DESPERATE.
