Oscar
Help Oscar With His Emergency Surgeries
Perryville, MO • Bichon Rescue Brigade
Oscar was found as a stray on the streets of Southern California, with no way of telling us what he had been through or how long he had been on his own. Thankfully, this sweet little dog was given a second chance by Bichon Rescue Brigade and placed in a loving foster home. At just 3 years old, Oscar should be enjoying his new life—playing, cuddling, and discovering what it feels like to finally be safe. Instead, he recently found himself fighting through a frightening medical emergency. Oscar Suddenly Couldn’t Urinate Oscar’s foster noticed that he was having difficulty urinating and knew something wasn’t right. He was rushed to the veterinarian, where doctors discovered that his bladder was filled with stones. Oscar needed emergency bladder surgery to remove the stones and relieve his pain. Everyone hoped the surgery would be the beginning of his recovery. Unfortunately, his ordeal wasn’t over. A Complication Led to a Second Emergency Surgery. Overnight, the surgical repair failed, creating another life-threatening situation. Oscar had to undergo a second emergency surgery the very next day. After enduring two surgeries in such a short period of time, Oscar remained hospitalized under close, 24-hour monitoring while his veterinary team watched carefully for additional complications and helped him begin to heal. Through everything—the pain, procedures, hospitalization, and uncertainty—Oscar has remained the same incredibly sweet and happy little dog. He loves everyone he meets and continues to show just how resilient he is. Please Help Oscar Recover Oscar survived life as a stray and finally found people determined to give him the future he deserves. Now, we want to make sure this unexpected medical crisis doesn’t stand in the way of that future. Two emergency surgeries, hospitalization, intensive monitoring, medications, and follow-up veterinary care have resulted in a significant medical bill for his rescue. We’re asking for your help to give Oscar the care he needs to fully recover. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps cover Oscar’s lifesaving veterinary treatment and brings him one step closer to putting this frightening chapter behind him.

Collette was found living on the streets of Los Angeles and at only 7 pounds, it had taken a devastating toll on her tiny body. Parmesan
Blind But Not Broken
Perryville, MO • Bichon Rescue Brigade
Sweet Parmesan has already beaten the odds. After leaving the overcrowded Downey Shelter in Southern California before being considered for euthanasia, this tiny senior Maltese finally found safety with Bichon Rescue Brigade. But while he escaped the shelter, his journey to good health was only beginning. Parmesan arrived with multiple serious medical concerns, including a heart murmur, severe vision impairment, painful dental disease, anemia, electrolyte imbalances, and chronic dry eye disease. Despite everything he’d endured, his gentle, loving personality never wavered. Everyone who meets him says the same thing— he is unbelievably sweet. His veterinary team immediately got to work. Parm has been diagnosed with immune-mediated dry eye, a lifelong condition that will require daily medication to keep him comfortable. Parmesan also underwent dental surgery to give him a fresh start. Years of advanced periodontal disease had caused severe gum recession, and veterinarians had no choice but to remove six painful teeth to relieve his suffering. Although his surgeries went well, there are still challenges ahead. Veterinarians have confirmed that Parmesan has no vision, and he will need ongoing monitoring of his eyes, repeat bloodwork to evaluate mildly elevated liver enzymes, lifelong eye medication, and continued follow-up care as he adjusts to his new life. So far, Parmesan’s medical care has already exceeded $1,200, and his journey isn’t over yet. After everything he’s been through, Parmesan deserves the chance to spend his golden years free from pain, surrounded by love instead of uncertainty. Your donation will help cover his surgeries, medications, follow-up appointments, diagnostics, and the continued veterinary care he needs to stay healthy and comfortable.

Pete
Help Pete Get Mass and Dental Surgery
Perryville, MO • Bichon Rescue Brigade

When Bichon Rescue Brigade stepped in to save him, he had a mass hanging from his belly, an upper respiratory infection, and the worn, painful teeth so many senior dogs quietly endure. Years of dental disease have left him in need of a thorough dental cleaning, and he will likely require multiple extractions to relieve his pain. Thankfully, Pete has already been examined by a veterinarian and is now being scheduled for surgery. Sadie
Help Sadie Get Her Second Surgery
Perryville, MO • Bichon Rescue Brigade
Sadie was found wandering alone through a cemetery before ending up at an overcrowded California shelter, where her future was heartbreakingly uncertain. With shelters overflowing, Sadie was at risk of euthanasia—not because she had given up, but because there simply wasn’t enough space and resources to give her the care she needed. When Bichon Rescue Brigade learned about her, they couldn’t let her story end there. After rescuing Sadie, the extent of her suffering became clear. She was carrying multiple ulcerated mammary masses—painful tumors that had been left untreated for far too long. Every day she waited, her condition became more uncomfortable and her risk of serious complications grew. Her veterinary team has already performed the first major surgery to remove the affected mammary chain, giving Sadie the relief she desperately needed. But her journey isn’t over yet. Because of the extent of the disease, Sadie must recover from this surgery before she can undergo a second operation to remove the remaining mammary masses. Staging the procedures gives her body the best chance to heal safely, but it also means additional veterinary care, medications, follow-up visits, and another major surgery still lie ahead. She’s recovering in a loving foster home through Bichon Rescue Brigade, where she’s surrounded by kindness and comfort instead of fear. After surviving life on the streets, facing euthanasia, and enduring painful untreated tumors, she’s finally able to rest while her body begins to heal. Now we need your help to finish what her rescuers started. Your donation will help cover Sadie’s remaining surgery and everything she needs to continue her recovery. Every dollar brings her one step closer to a life free from pain—and one step closer to finding the loving forever home she’s always deserved.

Stewie
From Broken Bones to Brighter Days
Perryville, MO • Bichon Rescue Brigade
Just days ago, Stewie was on the euthanasia list at California's overcrowded Devore County Animal Shelter. At only two years old, this tiny pup was facing euthanasia while suffering in silence with a devastating broken leg and hip pain. When Bichon Rescue Brigade learned about Stewie, they knew they couldn't let his story end behind shelter walls. His life had been spared but his battle was only beginning. Veterinarians discovered Stewie had a severely displaced fracture of his left femur. During surgery, they made another heartbreaking discovery: the injury was older than anyone realized. Scar tissue and granulation had already formed around the broken bone, meaning Stewie had likely been living in excruciating pain for much longer than anyone knew. The rescue was given a choice - pay less for a complete leg amputation or pay more to save the leg. To give him the best chance at a pain-free future, BRB opted to save his leg and surgeons performed an extensive orthopedic procedure. They cleaned away damaged tissue, repaired the fracture with a specialized locking bone plate, and performed a femoral head ostectomy (FHO) to restore his mobility. Thanks to his veterinary team, the surgery was a success and Stewie is now on the long road to recovery. For the next two months, Stewie must remain on strict crate rest with no running, jumping, long walks, or rough play while his body heals. He will need ongoing pain medication, follow-up appointments, X-rays, and careful rehabilitation to ensure his leg heals properly. Bichon Rescue Brigade gave Stewie the chance to leave the euthanasia list behind and begin a new life filled with hope instead of pain. Now they need our help to give him every opportunity to fully recover. The rescue fought to save his leg even though that meant a much larger bill. Your donation will go directly toward Stewie's surgeries, ongoing treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery. Every gift, no matter the size, helps ensure this sweet little survivor can heal, find a loving home, and finally experience the carefree life every dog deserves.
