* Determined to Rise Animal Foundation * Rey came to Determined to Rise as a breeder surrender, facing the painful condition of a rectal prolapse as a result of heavy parasites and coccidia. She was sad and uncomfortable, and her story sheds light on the importance of proper vet care, including deworming, for all household pets. Neglecting the most base-level care for our pets can lead to severe health issues down the road. Rey was taken to Midwest Animal Hospital in Illinois where she received a full assessment. Due to how much pain she was in, the vets quickly operated on her to repair her prolapsed rectum. She received various medication for pain, antibiotics, and to treat the coccidia and parasites. She was also spayed during her surgery, preventing her from ever falling into the incorrect breeder's hands ever again, especially being a highly demanded breed, making her even more at risk. Rey is one spunky girl! She never fails to make her caretakers laugh. She has actually won the award of being the silliest pup the rescue has ever had the pleasure of taking in. She is very social and has a wonderful demeanor. Determined to Rise Animal Foundation takes in medical cases often. They rely on donations to help all types of animals. Rey was in so much pain, the rescue knew they needed to immediately operate to give her some relief. Now, they need your help and support to help cover her medical bills.
Jeter

* Determined to Rise Animal Foundation * Little Jeter was all alone, wandering the streets when he was tragically struck by a car. He sustained a horrible fracture to his back leg. He was taken to the local shelter, but nobody ever came looking for him. The shelter reached out to Determined to Rise Animal Foundation because they knew he needed medical intervention as soon as possible. Determined to Rise quickly got Jeter to their vet, Midwest Animal Hospital in Illinois. They assessed his fracture in his back leg and determined it warranted amputation since it was beyond repair. They amputated quickly and he is now in recovery with a heavy dose of antibiotics. Jeter is a super sweet pup who wants all the love. He was in a lot of pain when the rescue took him in, but he was still so timid and kind. He is doing better each and every day but still needs support in his healing journey. Like a lot of non-profit rescues, Determined to Rise is inundated with medical bills as the number of stray animals continues to rise. Jeter, like all dogs, deserves a fighting chance. Animal control officers weren't sure if Cheese was attacked by another animal or what horrors he endured. But with your help, the Determined to Rise Animal Foundation will ensure that Cheese never experiences pain like this again. The nonprofit group rushed Cheese to an animal hospital. He was in such heartbreaking shape that a veterinary team performed exploratory surgery--only to discover his wounds were worse than initially thought. "They discovered the rubber stapled to his head covered a very deep canyon of a wound that went from the top of his head into his ear canal," Amanda S., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "His leg was also severely injured. His biggest battles are the resulting infections." Cheese has proven to be the most resilient, brave, and determined cat the rescue has ever taken in. There is no exaggeration in those words. His case is complex and severe, yet he continues to prove each day he chooses to live. Cheese is social, loving, cuddly, and never stops purring. Lyra arrived at Joliet Animal Control in tragic condition. She was extremely emaciated and had open pressure sores all over her body, including one on her hip that was all the way down to the bone. The shelter immediately reached out to Determined to Rise Animal Foundation as a plea for help, who took in Lyra without second thought. Lyra immediately knew she was saved as she eagerly jumped into the car, despite her obvious pain. Exhausted yet relieved, Lyra slept the whole ride to Midwest Animal Hospital. She will stay for a few days while they further understand her injuries and health. Sadly, the open wounds on her most likely mean she was kept in a very small, tight space. She will need extensive medical help. Lyra has been wagging her tail from the moment the rescue met her. She is gentle and kind, soaking up all the love and attention she can get. How she still has this temperament towards humans after whatever horrors she has endured in her six years is truly remarkable. Lyra, who is still so kind and so trusting after being completely failed by the humans that were supposed to protect her, deserves a second chance.
