When 15 Chihuahuas were surrendered from a single home to a rural animal shelter, they arrived carrying far more than uncertainty. Many had gone years without the veterinary care they desperately needed, and several were suffering from untreated medical conditions. Among them were Addie and Francine, two senior dogs now safely in the care of Miri's Haven Senior Dog Rescue. While they have finally left their past behind, they each have a long road to recovery before they can begin the next chapter of their lives. Both Addie and Francine urgently need comprehensive medical care, including chest X-rays, mammary tumor removal with biopsies, dental procedures, and spay surgeries. These treatments are essential not only to relieve pain and improve their quality of life but also to determine whether their tumors are benign or cancerous and to give them the best chance at a healthy future. For years, these sweet girls likely lived without the routine veterinary care every dog deserves. Yet despite everything they've been through, they remain gentle, resilient, and ready to trust the people who are finally giving them the love they have always deserved. A Massive Chest Tumor Is Stealing Maude’s Breath

Maude doesn’t know she’s running out of time. Every morning, she wakes up excited for breakfast. She trots over for kisses, follows her people from room to room, and curls herself into the pack as though she has always belonged there. Her tail still wags. Her eyes are still hopeful. She is still so very alive. But inside Maude’s chest is a massive growth that is slowly stealing her ability to breathe. What we first thought was a pregnancy belly turned out to be something far more devastating. Maude has an enormous mass in her chest cavity that has grown so large it is pushing her organs out of place and pressing against her lungs. As the mass continues to grow, breathing becomes harder and harder. Without treatment, the heartbreaking reality is that she may eventually suffocate under the weight of it. And still, she greets every day with love. Maude deserves the chance to fight for more time — more walks, more kisses, more soft beds, more mornings where she wakes up believing life still holds something good for her. Before specialists can determine whether surgery or treatment is possible, Maude urgently needs a CT scan. This imaging is the only way to understand exactly what the mass is, how far it has spread, and whether there is hope for intervention. We know times are hard. We know rescue asks a lot from people with already generous hearts. But Maude is here now, breathing harder than she should, still trusting humans despite everything, still fighting without even knowing she’s in a battle for her life. We cannot give up on her. A large mass in Maude's chest was making it increasingly difficult for her to breathe, and we urgently needed advanced diagnostics to understand what we were facing. Thanks to your generosity, Maude was able to receive the veterinary care she desperately needed and get the answers that would guide her treatment. With the support of this amazing community, Maude underwent her recommended procedures and has recovered beautifully. She is feeling so much better and is back to doing what she loves most—following her people around, soaking up affection, and greeting each day with her sweet, hopeful spirit. Watching Maude bounce back has been nothing short of incredible. The little dog who once faced such an uncertain future is now enjoying the comfort, care, and love she has always deserved. Because of your donations, Maude received the medical care she needed at exactly the right time.
