Smudge Pudge

We recently adopted an 8 year old domestic shorthair cat from Brother Wolfe Animal Rescue and brought her home on Aug 30th of this year as a surprise for our daughter for an early birthday present. She had been volunteering for a while and fell in love with this “little old lady” so we made the decision to bring her home after weeks off begging. Smudge is a shy girl and was very small when she came home. Only 5 lbs. within two months she’s come out of her shell and even gained 2 lbs. She loves napping in the sun and is very curious and quite silly at times. Before finalizing the adoption we were told she had developed a URI and needed a round of antibiotics before they could release her. This was on the 18th of August. We got the green light to pick her up on the 30th and went to get her. We were told her URI had cleared up and the watery discharge from her eye was normal. She’s been a vocal cat from the start and at times will walk around the house crying out for what seems like no particular reason. We thought this was just her not wanting to be alone and crying out for some company. We’ve had Smudge for two months and over time her watery discharge began to get progressively worse… it’s gotten to the point where she has snotty discharge from her nose, coughs and sneezes constantly and has a difficult time breathing at times. Our vet clinic is in Asheville. I called to make an appointment on Wednesday 10/26 and got her in the same day. Turns out it’s not a URI at all. It’s a severely abscess tooth with root exposed and needs extracted… the quote is almost $1000 and that’s just impossible right now. We have children, bills, groceries and can’t just fork out a grand to pull a tooth. I don’t know what to do.
Piwi
Piwi is a 1-year-old Heeler Mix in Lompoc, CA, who needs $600 for Parvovirus.

Piwi is 1 year and 3 months he’s still a small pup but unfortunately has parvo I had him since 3weeks so I’m very attached to him. He is hospitalized and is an emergency hospital surviving everyday, he’s a strong little guy but financially it’s hard to keep up. It’s hard seeing him so depressed and sad I just wish to see him happy again. Piwi is a fun and loving dog. He is a cattle mix so he’s naturally a very hyper dog. He loves to jump, hop, run, and annoy you, but that’s the best part about him. He loves to go to anyone, that’s what I live about him; that he doesn’t have favorites. He likes to give hugs and kisses and loves to eat. He’s a little vacuum. Something about piwi is that is a very smart dog. He looks at you in a way that makes you very special. Like I mentioned before he gives kisses. I never actually trained him to do that but it’s like he knows. Even being at his worst he was able to give me one, which broke my heart knowing how special of a dog he really is. Piwi has parvo. He has all his vaccines and unfortunately even with his vaccines he picked it up. We didn’t know he had it until we had taken him to the vet and they then gave of the news. He is in the emergency hospital getting treatment everyday, but because of the treatment it has greatly impacted us with the money. It’s getting too expensive and would love some help. To have my pet healthy again it would make me the happiest pet owner ever. Many people have told me it may be best to let him go, but i still have faith that he will be able to overcome this ugly virus. He makes me very happy and is just like another family member.
Blue
Blue is a four-year-old Husky in Napa, CA, who needs $640 for heat stroke emergency care.

It all started as a nice walk in the park and ended with Blue suffering from heat stroke. Now he's hospitalized at VCA Pet Care East Veterinary Hospital, and his human dad, Roger H., can't keep paying for Blue's care. "Since I am a 100% disabled veteran, I am on a fixed income," Roger tells Waggle. "I was able to pay $4500 out of pocket for the first few days, but because of my living situation, I cannot come up with the remaining balance. This was my savings that I have saved over the past few years." Blue has been by Roger's side for years and helps with his PTSD. "Blue loves water but hates the shower," Roger says. "I was having an anxiety attack in the shower one day. He could hear me sobbing. He walked into the shower and sat in there with me. He is my light. He is truly special." Now Blue needs a blood transfusion and additional care. He's weak and lethargic, but with further treatment, Roger is hopeful Blue will pull through. The pair needs your help. "What makes me smile is knowing that he is there for me and is willing to help me through any of my PTSD attacks," Roger says. "He is truly an amazing friend, and I can't imagine life without him."
Ginger
Ginger is a Ten-Month-Old Shepherd mix in Bend, OR, who needs $735 for Mange Treatment.

Ginger is just a puppy and has only known suffering and pain during her short life. She was rescued from the streets of a small Guatemalan town when she was three months old and has since fought terrible mange and skin infections -- some were so horrendous she needed to be hospitalized. The nonprofit People Saving Animals, which helps dogs in Central America, is trying to raise money to get Ginger the medical care she needs so she can get on the road to recovery and adoption. But the group can only do that with your help. She's just a pup and has a bright future once she is healthy. "Ginger is a happy and playful dog," Walter G., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "She likes to run and jump; she is an active dog. She is a friendly dog." Please give to Ginger's campaign so she can blossom into the beautiful girl she should be!
Chewie
Chewie is a 2-year-old Husky in Tallahassee, FL, who needs $2,000 for Thoracic Duct Ligation Surgery.

Chewie is the best 2 year old boy! He has a brain disorder that makes him walk a little funny, but he doesn't let that slow him down! Chewie was rushed to the ER Friday with fluid on his lungs. He is now at the vet hospital in ICU and will need thoracic duct ligation surgery. We've already paid thousands and I'm in school, so I need your help to afford his life saving surgery. Thanks for reading! Chewie's favorite things to do are follow his mommy around the house, fight with the blankets, and play with his toys on the ground! He also enjoys plenty of snacks! He is SUCH a goofball and makes everyone laugh He has a doggie stroller that allow him to go for long walks, since he gets tired easily from his brain disorder. He loves his stroller but only when he can be in front of his sister! Chewie loves to talk and tell you his opinions on things! When he wants help he uses his husky singing voice. When he doesn't like something he will definitely let you know too! Chewie's favorite time of the day is night night time! All you have to do is say the words "night night" and he runs into the bedroom, puts his front legs on the bed and waits for help to get up on the bed! Chewie was rushed to the ER Friday in respiratory distress. They drained 5 Liters of fluid from his lungs and asked us to go to the veterinary hospital for diagnostics and treatment. He is in the ICU there with a chest tube awaiting CT and life saving surgery to ligate his thoracic duct I'm a student in a post-graduate program that does not allow us to work, so my income is limited to loans. We've already paid thousands towards the cost of stabilization and diagnostics, but can't afford the surgery to save his life.
Ralph

When Ralph arrived at the animal control shelter, he was emaciated, could barely walk, and had maggot-infested infections in his muzzle, tail, and paws. If that was not horrific enough, Ralph also contracted parvo, a potentially fatal virus. Despite barely being able to lift his head, Ralph remained unbelievably grateful, cooperative, and sweet. Animal control officers contacted Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge for help. Without immediate hospitalization, Ralph would not make it. The rescue rushed Ralph to the Oradell Animal Hospital, where veterinarians discovered there was a horror story behind his condition. "Ralph's muzzle, which looks like it was tied shut, swelled from abscesses and his wounds were from cigarette burns," Amy H., with the rescue group, tells Waggle. "We can't even imagine the abuse he endured while being starved." The nonprofit group is desperate for donations to help pay for Ralph's hospitalization and surgery to remove his infected tail. They are optimistic with round-the-clock care combined with his fighting spirit -- he will pull through! "Our resources are stretched to the limit when the cost of care is at an all-time high, and donations have fallen, but we just couldn't leave Ralph to fight alone," Amy says.
MacKenzie
MacKenzie is an 8-year-old Greyhound in Geneva, OH, who needs $480 for urgent diagnostic tests.

When MacKenzie first arrived at the NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue sanctuary, her nights were filled with gut-wrenching screams until she realized that her caretakers were her protectors. Now she is happy and knows she's safe and loved. MacKenzie's past is a mystery. She has deep physical scars and needs urgent medical help. She suddenly developed a bloated belly, severely swollen hind legs, and her blood pressure went through the roof. "Her initial test results show that she's losing a good deal of protein through her kidneys or intestines and that her liver is not functioning properly, although there is no sign of infection," Duane J. with the rescue tells Waggle. MacKenzie now needs an ultrasound, fluid testing, and blood work to determine what's causing her condition. "We have provided a haven to ease her emotional pain; now we need to do everything we can to help her get through this crisis," Duane says. "Underneath her anxiety lies a sweet, kind hound that gets along wonderfully with all of the other Sanctuary hounds, large and small. She's most often found sleeping on her caretake 's bed." The nonprofit sanctuary provides lifelong care for old and sick animals and relies on donations to pay for medical care. Can you help MacKenzie get the diagnostic tests she needs?
Mattie

I rescued an Envigo beagle about a month ago. He came from Virginia research center where he was treated very poorly. He has never walked on grass, fed properly or loved and cared for properly. He was kept for 5 years and 11 months in a cage. He has separation anxiety, motion anxiety and vomits every time he is in a car. He is not very good living with other dogs so he lives alone with me. I have seen tremendous amount change in one month I had him. He is now loving to be around other dogs in the Neibour hood, he made so many friends and everyone loves him so much. His very friendly already and loves playing with his friends. We go for walk in a park daily. He still doesn’t understand to play with toys. He sleeps with me and we have connected within two days that I got him. I boned with Mattie right away because he is very sweet, quiet and just loves to sleep. The only time he barks is when he smells food or sees other dogs he wants to socialize with. He and I jog daily and he is very competitive. Of course he outrun me all the time but he waits for me if he goes too far:) we play at home to just chasing him around. His favorite treat is dried chicken. Mattie came to me with uncontrollable itching and also happen to have a few rotten teeth. I only found out during adoption about his itch and I thought I could try and help him. A few days later the adoption center told me he needs teeth extraction. I had no idea how much that will cost but when I learn it was going to cost a lot my heart got torn. I did not won’t to part from Mattie. I am a low income and I recently just paid my car properly tax and a few own medical bill. Also paid adoption fee for Mattie and his bed, food, toys and paid vet visit. Currently I can not come up for almost $1500 for Mattie’s teeth extraction.

Thanksgiving 2012 I had to send one of my elderly dogs over the rainbow bridge. Since I only rescue or adopt my pets, I went to the shelter on Saturday to find the perfect brother for Peanut. I walked through the many loud dogs, and this one little guy was trembling in the back corner of his crate. I was drawn to him. As we played in the private room, he stole my heart and the rest is history! Bo is the sweetest snuggle boy! He has 2 canine brothers and 1 feline sister. He is the sweetest of all of them. He's the favorite of everyone who meets him. I don't tell the siblings though.;) He loves to stay in my lap or right beside me watching TV. If I get up, he's following me where ever I go, so no privacy in the bathroom. 😁 We live in the woods providing deer and turkey viewing he loves. He has an absolute fetish with tissues. I found this out when I returned to my seat having left one on the sofa. I thought maybe I had misplaced it, but later caught him steal one, run under my bed and begin eating it! Crazy boy! I now automatically just tuck it in my shirt when I sit down. If I happen to forget, I'll find a shredded tissue some random place. The mess is a small price to pay. Bo had a mass removed 3/1/22 the size of a tangerine. By 3/29 he had another mass growing near the same area which was also removed. Our veterinarian thought he got all the cancer. On 9/27/22, I noticed a new growth and he seemed to have a fever. At his appt, he had bloodwork and x-rays done and was given meds. I know he is still in pain because he trembles frequently. I'm still paying toward the surgeries, now an additional $800+ for bloodwork and x-rays. In June, a tree fell on my house with expenses putting vet payments further behind. I would be grateful for any help just to keep him comfortable until the inevitable occurs. Thank you!
