Karli

Her owners brought her to a veterinarian who discovered the pup had a broken back leg --- and the break was several days old. The owners told the veterinarian they had no idea how it happened, but she had gone without care or pain medication. Karli also had severe wounds and an infection on her back foot. At that point, the owners opted for economic euthanasia -- to have Karli euthanized because they could not pay for her medical care. The animal hospital decided to give Karli one last chance and contacted One By One Animal Advocates before euthanizing her. One By One said, "Absolutely, we'll save her!" Since then, she's been hospitalized for over a week, and they got another surprise! "An X-ray also showed a large piece of metal in Karli's stomach, so she may need open abdominal exploratory surgery if it doesn't pass. Karli is now too anemic for the operation," Heather A. with One By One tells Waggle. Karli's leg and foot will also need surgery. One By One needs your help raising the money to save Karli -- who narrowly escaped death once! Help her have the happy future all puppies deserve.

At just eight months old, he was dumped in the woods with his belongings, toys, food, bed, and bowls while he waited patiently for help. Then someone spotted Hank. He got picked up, sent to a kill shelter, and scheduled to be euthanized. But Humans and Animals United raced to save him. "We absolutely could not say no to that desperate face," Rosa F., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "His tail immediately started wagging, and we were given plenty of kisses." The group rushed him to the animal hospital, where they discovered he was malnourished and had a fractured leg. Hank's surgeon estimates the pup was suffering for two weeks in the woods. "We could only imagine the abandonment he must have felt left by the family he loved. Waiting like a good boy in his bed while in pain, with no water and a closed bag of food," Rosa says. Hank is now recovering in the animal hospital and will need surgery to repair his leg. Despite all he's been through, he's in good spirits. Now the rescue needs to raise the money for Hank's surgery. Will you give and help Hank have a pain-free future filled with love? "He is as sweet as they come," Rosa says. "The staff has fallen in love with him, and we have too! Brady

We got Brady as a rescue and we have had him a year now. It's been great having him bring joy to my son, but to see my sons face when I tell him I don't know if we can keep him is heart breaking, Brady deserves to live a good life at the age he is.. most just comfort and to be able to go on walks again Brady likes to go on walks, but due to his current situation we can't, he loves taking naps and going out in the back yard when we fire up the grill and fire pit. He loves to play with his cousin which is also a dog but without his shots it's impossible to do when I'm not able to at the moment it's sad Brady is a special part of our family due to him being a companion for my 13yr old who battles Anxiety, ptsd and depression. I believe he needs the love and care as well because of environment he came from, he needed the love our family is giving him.. he love to follow us around the house and that caused us to place multiple pet bed in every room lol When we got Brady, we didn't know about his underlying medical condition, until he was vetted last year when we got him, he has several digestive problems along with Pancratitis, And dental disease. I tried to maintain his health up until now, I had to get help for him. His vet is awesome Due to me being constantly sick from the after affects of covid I've missed alot of work, and I'm trying to keep Brady around long as possible because he is the reason for all the positive things that's going on with my son mental at this time and our home.
Reese

Kittens are so incredibly fragile, and without the help of A Pathway to Hope, a kitten named Reese would have perished. Reese was found laying in the heat in a flowerpot (as seen in her main photo) for hours, eyes sealed shut, lethargic and fading away – until their team quickly mobilized and rushed her to the hospital. Reese was covered in fleas, suffering from an upper respiratory infection and so anemic that she required an emergency blood transfusion – and she seemed to bounce back and was released from the hospital. Sadly, Reese quickly deteriorated overnight in foster. She was quickly rushed back to the hospital with lethargy, lack of appetite, and labored breathing concerns. She was not eating, was put on oxygen, ran a fever, and awaited chest x-rays. Reese also had to repeat bloodwork to determine if she had any red blood cells left to fight off the infection that was overtaking her tiny body. Vets believe Reese’s upper respiratory infection worsened in her lungs, possibly into pneumonia. This gorgeous, frightened girl is learning to trust and truly has found her second chance at life. On July 27, 2021 we lost our boy Rocky to cancer. Our house was so quiet. We went to HSSV not expecting to see puppies. Ginger was the 1st we saw and we fell in love. We looked at several other puppies but kept walking back to her window. We spent 5 minutes with her and knew we weren't leaving without her. Doing the paperwork we were told she was born on July 27th. It was fate! She is now Molly! I swore I would never have a dog that slept with me. This little girl stole my heart when she slept on my chest the first night. She loves life. Crunchy leaves. Sticks. Kids. Dogs. People. Find it. Fetch - 24/7 if she could! Snatching anything you drop! TREATS! She paws my pocket for treats. She paws my hand for hugs. Favorite spot is next to me-everywhere! She helps reduce my stress daily. Her mom was rescued with 10 puppies. She is extremely vocal if she wants to play or walk! She has many dog friends.. Max, Ryder, Otis his brother. She LOVES water. We laugh so hard when the hose gets turned on. I love that she is my shadow. She is incredibly smart. The ramp to get on and off the bed took 5 minutes a day for 5 days to teach. Only fear is a bike with glow sticks in the tires! About 6 weeks ago Molly started limping. She has a lytic lesion which has started to heal over the last month but has a mass growing around her ankle. It requires surgery to remove and we are praying the biopsy is negative. Today's visit was $965. Surgery is $4500-$6500. My husband is medically disabled. I was out of work for 18 months during COVID and am still paying a $10k vet bill for our last dog surgery. We have used up our entire emergency fund. We will take the best care for Molly her entire life but ask for help from generous people.
Tonka

Tonka has lived a lifetime of neglect before finding himself an ailing stray dog in a crowded shelter. That's when Pathway and Piney Mountain Foster Care stepped in. This gorgeous senior husky should have been spoiled in his golden years, but instead, he is emaciated at just 40 pounds under his filthy fur. We fought to get Tonka to NJ to get him the extensive diagnostics he desperately needed! Tonka’s schedule was lined up with medical consults at three separate hospital – that included an echocardiogram, cardiologist consult, abdominal ultrasound, dental exam and extensive diagnostic testing. We knew Tonka was in rough shape, but seeing him shaved down and hearing his full medical results was shocking. He is severely emaciated with a body score of 2 out of 9. Tonka is heartworm positive and has horrible dental disease. Both are severe and advanced. He is also suffering from painful ear infections and arthritis. Tonka’s fur was so horrible that he had to be fully shaven – it was thin, matted and soaked in urine and feces. Tonka has burns on his stomach from prolonged urine contact and the matts on his hind legs prevented him from walking normally. Tonka only knows how to LOVE. He passed a temperament test with flying colors, rolling over for belly rubs during the most uncomfortable part of testing for most dogs! The long-term neglect Tonka has endured has broken his body, but not his spirit, as he greets you with joy and excitement. While it is hard for us to see, he truly feels like a new man today and has hope for the future. We SO appreciate your support in helping with Tonka’s initial medical care. Gretchen was found on Election Day. After checking out the neighbors in the area, I discovered she’d been wandering around for approximately three months. No known owner. She is quite thin, had fleas, ear mites, and could be pregnant. She’s currently quarantined in an empty room in my home with a cat fountain, wet food at least twice a day, and kibble out 24/7. She’s starting to warm up to the house life slowly. She’s taken to the litter box with ease. Is starting to fill out and is fully hydrated, now. She’s quite shy, yet, with all the other animals’ making noise. But she is making progress. Once she’s cleared of quarantine, she’ll be introduced slowly to other animals to see how she does. Most ferals run away. As you can see in the video, she made herself right at home in no time. She’s such a lover, and deserves that right back. She deserves to be given the chance to be healthy and come out of her shell more. She deserves to be warm and have a full belly at all times. The bar is low, but for a once feral cat? It’s the world. She was tested for FLV, dewormed, and received her shots today. However, we fear she’s pregnant. She has an ultrasound coming up, and if she does have any? She’ll be spayed asap, due to risks of complications with her being so thin and young. Not to mention the high odds of rejection due to all her new surroundings. I hadn’t planned on bringing another cat into my home. But, I am currently fostering her. With the holidays and my other animals’ health needs, money is tight. Every penny helps. It’s not necessary, but always so appreciated!
Sprite

Sprite came into our lives as a rescue. She is a survivor of trauma and abuse and requires a lot of patience time and attention. She is very loving. Extremely rambunctious. But all in all a good dog with a lot of potential with the proper management and care. Once she gets to know you she will love you. She's very loving. Not good with strangers or pets she does not know. Once she knows you she will love you. She knows she's a loved member of the family. Very spoiled. I take her to the shooting ranges where I pick up brass so she can run around and have fun when it's just the two of us on the range. She doesn't stray very far She loves to play fetch. And enjoys treats and stuffed toys. She likes to chase her tail, the more we laugh the faster she will chase it. Very very affectionate. She gives so many kisses and is a great cuddler. She has not had her shots and she is not fixed so her aggressive nature is pretty high. If she was fixed things would calm down. I've been hit hard financially so I have not been able to get her fixed. I know that her aggression will calm down if she is fixed. She has not gotten her shots yet either. I'm mainly concerned about her aggressive nature because she has not been fixed. I want to be able to take her on walks and not have to worry about her biting someone. I have not been able to work because of a back injury. I want to be able to take Sprite for walks around my apartment but have been unable to because of her aggression. If she is fixed I know that her aggression will calm down.
Rex
Rex is a 6-year-old Pit Mix in Moosup, CT, who needs $2,000 for Fracture Repair.

Rex has been with us his whole life, he is about 6 &1/2 years old. He lives with my husband and I, our 2 daughters and his doggy sister Sahara. He has already beat some incredible odds by surviving parvo as a very young puppy, he is strong and resilient. Rex means so much to us all and is loved with all our hearts. Rex absolutely loves his human sisters and his dog sister as well! He loves being moms shadow, he is always with me, even in the bathroom, lol. He absolutely loves sneaking a snack when dinner is being prepared or when daddy isn’t watching. Rex loves to snuggle up and give mom kisses, he is so gentle and has a huge doggy heart. Rex may be 6 &1/2, but he still acts like a crazy puppy all the time! He loves to jump and play ball. Sometimes we call him a bunny because he hops when we gets excited. He loves to play fight with dad ( mom thinks he always wins, dad likes to think he’s the winner). He barks at pretty much everything, but that’s Rex, he’s got a big, loud voice and he will let everyone know. Rex broke his back right leg while playing ball with dad. Rex jumped up, as he does all the time and just didn’t stick the landing this time. He will be getting surgery to repair his leg, the veterinary team will be putting a plate and screws in place. Surgery is scheduled for 10/20/2022. We are asking for donations to help in Rex’s medical services because this is extremely unexpected. We just moved back home to CT and didn’t have a lot saved up yet, moves are expensive and a dogs broken leg is not something we anticipated. Any amount will help. Thank you.
