Clover

Clover is one of the luckiest dogs alive. Two weeks ago, 4 dogs were pulled from a high kill shelter euthanasia list and placed on transport. A shelter worker accidentally placed Clover on transport to NY. The shelter offered to bring him back, but we could never do that to him. He was saved and given a second chance at life for a reason, so we committed to helping find a home. Clover really is a perfect dog and it is heartbreaking to think that he wouldn't be alive if he had stayed at the shelter. As soon as Clover arrived at doggy daycare, he fit right in. He is so grateful to finally be out of a kennel, free to explore, play with other dogs, and love up on humans to his heart's content! Clover has a pure, angelic spirit, so soft and gentle. His smile never fades and he looks up to you with such hope and love, it is remarkable. He is amazing with everyone he meets, is perfect on leash, and is crate trained. He has low energy, wants nothing more than love, and is happiest cuddling up with blankies, receiving pets, and hearing the soothing sound of your voice. Clover came up to us with no medical record or previous vetting, so we immediately brought him to Family Veterinary Care in Ossining for a wellness exam, vaccinations, neuter scheduling, and testing. He was sadly diagnosed with heartworms and will need to be placed on a strict treatment regiment and cage rest. The bill for the treatment is between $1100 and $1700. Clover is a miracle and, with all that he's been through, deserves a life free of pain. With the numerous medical bills piling up and shelters begging for help saving dogs, we are in dire need of funds. Any amount is generous and helps us and our dogs tremendously.
Basil

She was in a shelter with a broken jaw and scheduled to be killed. We couldn't let that happen," Yvonne H., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "We agreed to pull her and get her to one of our vets." The rescue immediately noticed how Basil is incredibly friendly and outgoing. "Even with her mangled jaw, she came right up to employees as if to ask for help with her injuries," Lisa says. "She's a model patient. She's not afraid of strangers and wants to be friends with everyone." Now Basil needs surgery to fix her jaw at Woodland West Animal Hospital. The rescue launched this fundraiser, hoping you, too, will fall in love with Basil and help her get the operation that will change her life. "We are a nonprofit rescue that only takes sick and injured homeless cats and dogs," Lisa says. "Our monthly vet bills average thousands of dollars, and the only way we can continue to help more animals is with donations." Please help Basil get the pain-free future she deserves!
Bella
Bella is a one-year-old Golden Retriever in Toronto, ON, who needs $1,500 for urgent surgery.

Bella is just one-year-old, and the beautiful Golden Retriever's life is on the line. Her human mom is facing a gut-wrenching situation; she can no longer pay for Bella's medical care. "Bella was attacked by a dog and hit by a car," Alita F. tells Waggle. "She has had two surgeries to try and save her leg. And on top of it, one of the screws from her first surgery was taken for culture and came back with the news that her leg is infected. She needed to have injections every day for seven days with an intense antibiotic to try to get rid of the infection." After all the animal hospital bills, Alita has hit a breaking point. "I cannot financially pay for any more surgery or even an amputation because I have given every penny of credit and lines of credit to possibly save her leg," she says. Alita is pleading for anyone who reads Bella's campaign to give to help her precious dog, who didn't deserve to be a victim of this catastrophe. Bella used to love to go to the dog park and play with dogs. She also loved the water and going to the beach. She would join Alita at their local community garden as she planted herbs and vegetables. Bella would greet every person when they harvested the produce and gave it to the community. "It's just she and I. She is the sweetest and kindest dog. She loves to be a pet and has to say 'Hi,' to every dog. She is extremely friendly. She always has a smile on her face, and it can truly lift anyone's spirits even when she is so sick and in so much pain. It makes me sad to write this." Alita says.
Angelo
Angelo is a 2-month-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Summerville, SC, who needs $495 for Degloved Jaw Reconstruction Surgery.

Angelo came to Dorchester Paws, an animal shelter in Summerville, SC as a stray. He was found in a ditch on the side of the road, in a rural part of our county. He was found by Animal Control. Angelo was covered in maggots, dehydrated, had debris stuck in his coat and had a degloved jaw. This is a lot for any animal, but especially since was only two months old. We do not have any information to share on this at this time since Angelo came in as a stray. We do hope to nurse him back to amazing health as we know he would be a great addition to any home and can't wait for that day for him. We will provide updates as he heals, we just do not have this information to share. Angelo is special because he was found on a side of the road, abandoned and alone. He was in horrible shape and was left to find food and shelter all on his own in this condition. Angelo is a sweet boy and really needs to have a better story. He deserves a victim to victory life and we can't wait for that! Angelo was covered in maggots, dehydrated, had debris stuck in his coat and had a degloved jaw when he came in. He is being treated by Dorchester Paws Veterinarian when Dr. Bice is on campus (she is part-time). Angelo came in last week and immediately received the care he needed and surgery to repair his degloved jaw. He is currently in foster care, healing and being given supportive care. Dorchester Paw is not a county owned facility. Our operating budget is $1.1 million dollars, and the county only provides 13% of it to help. 87% of our budget, comes from donations and grants so we can continue to care for every neglected and abandoned animals.
Stanley
Stanley is a five-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgery.

To see Stanley's emaciated body and legs struggling to walk is heartbreaking. The sweet boy ended up at an animal shelter after officers discovered him while responding to a call about animal abuse. He was spared from death at the shelter when Southern California Pit Bull Rescue saved him. "The animal control officer saw Stanley and stated he could barely walk," Mark R., from the nonprofit group, tells Waggle. "His little body was covered in foxtails. He actually had foxtails that were embedded into his tongue. He had to be sedated to remove them from his tiny little body. he weighed a mere 31 pounds -- about 15 pounds underweight." Even though Stanley has been extremely neglected, he's just a sweetheart of a little guy that craves human affection. The rescue feeds him nutrient-rich puppy food several times a day to nurse him back to health. They brought Stanley to a specialist at VSEC Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center of Thousand Oaks to have his legs evaluated. "We learned that both of his back kneecaps are out of the joints, which has caused him to rely heavily on his front legs to walk," Mark says. "He will require the surgical skills of an orthopedic surgeon to place his kneecaps back into the joints. He can only undergo surgery on one leg at a time." Now the rescue is racing to save the day again-- this time to raise the money for Stanley's surgery. "We are a nonprofit that relies on donations," Mark says. "Along with Stanley requiring surgery on his kneecaps, he also has several broken teeth that need to be extracted."
Einstein
Einstein is a 9-year-old Chihuahua/Toy Poodle in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for Hospitalization.

I have lupus, I got Einstein as a puppy in 2013. He quickly became attached to me. He has been my emotional support dog every since. He has been by my side thru every bad lupus flare, when I was recovering from hospital stays, or during depression when I lost hope of getting better. He made me laugh and brightened my day just by the way he stares at me and plays. He is my little "rabbit". Einstein keeps us on our toes. He just loves me so much and follows me around every where. If I am in the kitchen cooking, he just sits somewhere he can see me and stares. My family laughs saying I have a "stalker". He is very lovable and very playful. He’s a feisty little one and barks to protect me. He’s my "shadow". Einstein is very entertaining. Randomly, he would chase his tail and go in circles until he catches it. When he catches his tail, he flip flops round and round on the ground. It’s so hard not to stop what your doing to watch him and laugh. He also loves to play tug a war with me. He’ll grab a piece of my blanket and try to pull it off, playing. He even tries to talk to me with his whining. My other dog had surgery and they removed 15 teeth. I bought soft food for them to eat and Einstein ate it for 5 days then didn’t want to eat it anymore. He got sick and vet diagnosed him with pancreatitis. After that he wouldn’t eat much then stopped eating. Took him back and she told me to take him to hospital. He has a severe GI infection, I believe from the food. He eats by syringe now. I am on disability. I lost 1 dog in March and it hurt my heart so much! His brother was diagnosed with cancer and has 4-7 months to live. Now Einstein being sick just kills me. I can’t lose all 3 within 6 month. They are my emotional support babies.
Darwin

My baby came into my life three years ago, when one of my best friends found a pregnant stray in her backyard. I met Darwin the moment he was born, and he has been my baby ever since. I watched him grow with his momma until he was big enough for me to take him home. He lived in my bedroom for a couple weeks, in which we created the strongest bond I've ever felt with a pet. Darwin is by far the sweetest cat I've ever met in my life, which all of my family and friends can attest to. He has never bit or scratched a soul, even when he plays. He cuddles up on my chest every single night to fall asleep as he drools and makes biscuits. I've never seen a cat so sweet and full of love, even with complete strangers ❤️ Darwin is not the most typical cat, especially in his appearance! His huge, upward turned eyes and habit of revealing his second eyelids make him look permanently cross-eyed, which always makes me and my family laugh. He also has the most precious habit of flopping onto the ground head first, belly up whenever he wants attention ☺️ Not to mention, he LOVES belly rubs which I've never seen in a cat Back in 2020, Darwin faced his first urinary blockage. We had never experienced anything like it, and I've never been so scared of losing someone that I love. We rushed him to the Veterinary Emergency Group, and ended up paying thousands. This happened 2 more times, costing us more and more in medications and treatments. This time, he had to receive a very invasive surgery: a PU surgery. I've always paid for Darwin's treatments myself, even as a 20 year old college student. This time however, I had to spend the savings I was building up to finally move out:( I'm just hoping for a little bit of help so that I can still move out by August.
Nigel
Nigel is an eight-year-old Mastiff mix in Huntington, WV, who needs $1,000 for urgent care.

His skinny body, black, leathery, and hairless skin made many potential adopters move on to the next kennel. He was a poster child for neglect that had gone on for too long. Rescuers with One by One Animal Advocates had no idea how Nigel had ended up at the shelter in such poor condition. They could only speculate perhaps he had been abandoned when his owner could no longer care for him? Or maybe his family had passed away, leaving him to fend for himself? But they did know he was a diamond in the rough who deserved a break. "Typical of his breed, Nigel is a gentle giant who seems to crave a human connection," Heather A., with the group, tells Waggle. "He does his best to communicate with his big, soulful eyes and will even reach out a paw to grab your attention as you pass by. A cold, concrete floor wouldn't do for his senior body. Plans were made to send him directly to Proctorville Animal Clinic for a complete workup." Initially, the veterinarian thought Nigel suffered from hypothyroidism, but blood work came back in the normal range, indicating that Nigel suffered from malnutrition and neglect. It is heartbreaking to think how long he has been on his own, suffering, wondering why this was happening to him. Nigel has a long road to recovery ahead of him, but his rescuers are committed to helping him overcome each hurdle. "Nigel won over many hearts during his evaluation at Proctorville Animal Clinic," Heather says. "He was in his element as each technician offered treats, ear scratches, and hugs. Nigel has a way of looking at you and leaning into you like he is trying to soak up every human interaction. While it is very sweet on one hand, it also makes us sad as if he is preparing himself for loss all over again." The nonprofit group wants to provide Nigel with all his medical care, but they need your help. Your donation will let Nigel know there are still people who love him.
Benjamin
Benjamin is a nine-year-old Greyhound in Geneva, OH, who needs $408 for eye surgery.

Benjamin joined The Sanctuary at NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue when he was just three years old, and he became one of their ambassador dogs. "We knew that there was something special about Benjamin," Duane J. from the nonprofit group tells Waggle. "He enjoyed working at meet and greets and as a therapy dog. No matter where he went, he had a kind and sensitive way that helped humans relax. He was always ready to show others just how amazing Greyhounds could be." But then Benjamin developed many health issues, including a severe heart murmur, high blood pressure, and kidney disease. He stopped working events and was more comfortable staying in the house and keeping his caretakers' company. About a year after his initial illness, Benjamin developed s a bulging disc in his neck that causes pain from time to time. Medications and diet have kept these conditions in check. Now Benjamin is fighting a new medical battle, and he needs your kindness. "Benjamin is a huge boy who doesn't always realize his size. He is also easily frightened by noises and movements. Recently, he injured his right eye after he became scared of something outside while he was on a potty break. Eye stain tests show that Benjamin has a very large scratch on his cornea," Duane says. Benjamin received vet care for his eye injury for several weeks from Dr. Zulandt at Madison Veterinary Hospital. After a good start at healing with ointments and eye drops applied several times a day, the scar tissue on Benjamin's eye stalled the process and needs to be removed. Now the rescue group needs help raising money to pay for his care. "NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue provides lifetime care for animals with medical needs," Duane says. "We rely solely on donations to pay for their vet bills. Benjamin has helped so many humans before he became ill. Please help him heal. Thank You!"
