Lillie

My daughter had a female dog named Sugar (a maltese/lhasa apso mix) and a male dog named Harley (a shih tzu). They fell in love and had 3 different litters of puppies - they were so adorable and precious I wound up taking one from each litter - so I have Lillie, Millie, and Buddy. Lillie and Millie were both born in 2008 (so they are 13) and Buddy was born in 2009, so he is 12. I have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren, all of whom are grown. So I live alone in NC with my 3 fur babies. I love them dearly and they have all been together since they were each born, so they all love each other dearly as well. They are very close - they eat together, play together, go outside together, and sleep together. I am retired and on a fixed income. I don't have the $1,200 for the surgery and she's one of my babies, I don't know what I would do without her and I hate to see her in pain. 6 years ago, the cataract in her left eye got really bad and she went blind in that eye. The vet said it happened gradually and that it likely didn't bother her, and it didn't seem to, until recently. The left eye became infected. It's now extremely swollen and painful with a great deal of pressure built up. Her vet, Dr. Dale Brown at Riverbark Vet Hospital said it has to come out. Lillie is the oldest sibling of the 3 and is the "Leader of the Pack". She is the heart and soul and the group and is my first baby. They are are extremely special to me, but she is extra special because of her demeanor and the fact that she was my first. She is also the one that wants to be closest to me most of the time.

My daughter brought me a mama and 4 of her kittens. They were in terrible condition they had fleas all over them and were malnourished. Tooney was one of the kittens And I knew right away I want to keep him. He was always adventuress in inquisitive. He liked to be around us in the family more so than his siblings. I nurse them back to health and found homes for all the kittens and the mom and I Tooney Tooney is very curious and loves to play. He loves for us to pet him And purrs so loud. Is very sweet and affectionate. He gets into everything but that's one of the reasons we love him so much. He always tries to catch a fish from the fish aquarium. He is quite and rarely meows, he isn't needy and just a happy go lucky kitten. Lost job due to covid. He has become a part of the family. He brings so much joy and life to our home. Hey deserves to have a longer life than what he has. He has been through so much already. We would love to see him running through the house And playing once again. Our home will never be the same with him gone Tooney Started to at different and we new something was wrong Because he was not acting normal. I took him to the emergency vetAnd they could not find anything wrong That I did not have the money to get lab work or x-rays done. We are concerned that he is dying and it is killing usTo think he could he might be suffering. So I am not sure what is wrongBut I really would like to save his life if if Tooney is very Adventurous and loves to play. He loves for us to pet him And purrs so loud. Beanie

I started fostering Beanie earlier this year in February. I had recently gone to rehab because I had a suicide attempt in December of 2020. The day I brought Beanie home, I fell in love. How could I not adopt him? He is my rock and is unlike any cat I have ever met! I’m currently enrolled at Virginia Tech and live in a 2 bedroom with one other cat. Beanie has always been very healthy and vibrant Beanie LOVES people. It’s so unusual. The day I brought him home, he made himself right at home. It was obvious that my apartment was now Beanie’s apartment. He always so sweet and loving. He loves snuggles and belly rubs but his favorite is toe bean massages! He even loves other cats, it’s wild! I never imagined that I would get out of the darkness that I faced but Beanie makes it easy for me to wake up everyday, as I’ve struggled in the past to do that. He is there as much for me as I am for him. I’ve had car emergency expenses very recently, money is very tight. Beanie has been neutered and has all his required shots. He is due for his rabies shot in July though. He had a case of round worms around a month ago but that’s the only time he’s really been sick. I take him to Companion Animal Clinic in Blacksburg, Virginia. Beanie loves going to the vet there and they love having him. He likes to jump on the computer and play with the keyboard! Beanie is extremely special to everyone he meets! He loves to hangout and be loving to everyone he meets. He does this particular thing that we call “Beanie Kisses.” If you say “may I have a kiss” to Beanie, he’ll run right up to you and head butt you. Starved, abonded and needing love. I am highly allergic to her but I did the best I could. Before I was able to TNR her, we had a covid scare and I had to cancel the appt. When I went to reschedule, she was already pregnant. She would not come inside for ANYTHING. She had the kittens on my patio and has been inside ever since. I did all the testing and got her fixed. we are low income & need help. She loves treats but is still weird around humans. We have come a far far way in the past 8 weeks with no choice but for her to be inside. This has needed trust on both sides for luna and us. She is more outgoing at night and is easier to play and interact with. Luna I believe was abused by her previous owners. She shows signs of it We are a family of 3, with an income of $30,000 annually. It was hard to just feed us and 3 kittens and an adult cat. We did what we needed to and cut things from our budget to make it work. However it took a toll. I hate to look for help but that is where I am. I do not know much of her past. All I do know is that she has had all the things she needs done and the kittens i adopted out and for Luna I have found a rescue to help adopt her out. Unfortunately, they are unable to help with the cost that has accumulated in 8 weeks. Luna tested - for Snap & has been fixed as well as all of her shots Luna came into my life when I was suicidal. It was a great distraction to see where and when luna would be back at the back door looking for some food or water. Luna before babies loves strings and bells, but she has gotten a bit more serious in her motherhood stage. Luna loves to hangout in the window, but only on sunny days when the birds are out. She tries to get them through the window.

I've had Fluffy since he was a kitten. We have been together for five years now. He's my everything. He's recently began having tummy issues and I want to take him to a vet for a check up but I have no money. I come from a low income family. I love my cat and I want what's best for him. And I just want him to feel better My cat is a chill cat but he brings positive vibes to our home he sleeps in the cutest positions and is always content. Every mirkmg he loves looking out the window at the birdies. You can never go to the bathroom alone as he will follow to see what you're doing and get some pets. Fluffy loves to play with bottle caps and pipe cleaners. I have no job because I have no transportation. I live with my mom and we only get 700 a month for income. A donation of $150 for a vet visit is all I need to help him feel better. Please help me Fluffy has always been an overall healthy kitty but recently he's been having stomach sensitivities and I want to take him to a vet for a check up but I do not have the funds. I am looking for a low cost vet clinic near me to take fluffy too. His health is very very important to me and I just want him to feel better My cat is a calm cat and his calmness eases my anxiety. He makes everyones day a better day with his happy attitude. Sometimes he'll kay on the floor and he'll just roll side to side while licking his paws. It is the cutest thing ever. My cat is an odd eyed cat. He has one green eye and one blue eye.

Cheddar and his twin Nacho could not be sweeter kittens. They had a terrible start to their little lives by ending up in a rural North Carolina shelter. But in April, they were saved by Carolina Cat Rescue and placed in foster care. Cheddar is a loving kitten who is a great snuggle buddy. He is a happy boy and successfully battled an upper respiratory after entering into our care. He was on the mend, but his foster mom started noticing that Nacho (his twin brother) was getting much bigger and Cheddar (although super hungry) was not gaining weight. We were not sure why he was hungry, eating like crazy, but staying the same weight. Cheddar is a special boy and we knew his situation was not normal. He was playful and happy but not growing and that was worrisome. We contacted our vet - Dr. Chris Kelly at Companion Animal Hospital and took him in for an exam. He was thin. His brother weighed 8 ounces more than he did and we needed to figure this out. Cheddar was tested for parasites and panleukopenia - both results were normal. The vet then suggested a mal-digestion profile to look for abnormalities in his digestive system. He also underwent a test for his pancreas. The tests results gave us the answer we needed - he has Juvenile Cobalamin Deficiency. His body is not absorbing vitamin B12. B12 is an essential vitamin for cats immune system, nervous system, digestive tract, for healthy cognitive function. Cheddar started receiving weekly B12 injections. He will need to undergo more testing to see if his body is able to absorb B12 from the food he eats. We are happy that we found out what was wrong & we could help him thrive. The test was costly but worth it to save his life. Please help Carolina Cat Rescue raise the money necessary to cover Cheddar's medical bill.

*UPDATE*: Loki is back home and recovering from his long week he has had 😻 Loki ended up on the farm by means only he knows. He just happened to be a very persistent kitten that cried for 3 whole days/nights trying to get our attention, but would run & hide as soon as we'd open the door. Archie did finally catch him, but we didn't think his outcome would be a good one. His warrior-like instinct however showed us just how strong-willed he was.I remember the moment he made it obvious he had accepted us as his home sitting on my lap, He put his face to mine, and basically headbutted me 😂. With time he improved and his face nuzzling became Eskimo kisses. It's really amazing to see how he has learned to love like he does, considering how we came to be his family 💞 My animals are my babies, so when they hurt, I hurt for them. When they're scared, I'm scared for them. We are just ready to have our Lil Fat Man back home, where he can recover surrounded by all of us that love & miss him! Loki was scheduled to get neutered but a few days prior, we noticed he was lethargic, & peeing what was likely blood. I contacted the Spay Me staff in Madison & they suggested a wellness check be done first. He's had multiple cbc scans & IV fluids over the last few days. His cbc is still high in a few areas, but he's well enough to go forward with surgery Monday & return home to us for recovery Loki and Jilly Bean have got to be the cutest kitty couple ever! Loki makes it a point to be right by Jilly's side. Even if that means sitting in the cathouse in freezing temps cuz Jilly isn't ready to come in yet. She clearly feels the same cuz she's been pacing and wandering around since he left, looking like she's lost, cuz she can't find him 🥺. Jilly Bean wants her Buhhda Boy back stat!
Clyde

Clyde originally came to Paws in 2018 as a friendly stray. He was adopted after and we heard nothing thing further until Easter night when the emergency vet called to say that Clyde was there with a urinary blockage and had been left with them to euthanize. He needed a catheter ASAP in order to pee on his own and the vet felt he needed surgery to prevent future urinary issues. Clyde was very affectionate with us at the shelter and we can only assume with his adopters as well. They never provided an update but now that Clyde is back with us, he is so sweet, rolling over and showing his belly, rubbing all over you and depending attention. Anyone looking for a big lap cat is going to find him irresistible! Paws is a small animal shelter who goes above and beyond for the animals in our care. Despite fewer and smaller donations in 2020 we do our best to provide the best medical care possible. A surprise vet bill means less money to take care of other cats and dogs in need. Clyde was adopted in 2018 and we did not hear back from the adopters for any follow-ups. We got a call on Easter night that he was at the emergency vet and blocked, not able to pee. Doing more research revealed that that adopter had brought him to a local vet office 3 weeks ago for urinary issues but as far as we know that is the only care he got in 3 years. Clyde is so outgoing and affectionate with everyone! He loves flopping on his side to get belly rubs and it is a big belly! He needs to lose a bit of weight to be healthier but he is a cute "chonk" for now. Clyde is even still playful after all he's been through recently which is amazing. He has a great personality and big personality.
Archie

Archie came into my life in May 2019 when he was 12 weeks old. Out of the 5-6 puppies I looked at he was the only one who came to me and immediately fell asleep in my arms when I picked him up so it was a done deal when that happened and funny thing is I was looking for a white puppy but as soon as that sweet puppy claimed me as his we have been inseparable. I'm retired and it's just the 2 of us, he doesn't like to let me out of his sight, he loves squeaky toys and loves to chase after them and bring them back. He is spoiled. He sleeps in bed with me and will sleep until I wake up no matter how late I sleep ( what a good boy!) He is a life saver for me, I was I am beside myself with worry because his teeth issues bring him distress, I love him so much and don't think I could handle another loss. I am on a fixed income of only social security and struggle just to keep us fed, 2 vet visits in the past month have left me in a bind Archie never lost most of his baby teeth when he should have, some have finally come out over the past 6 months or so ( he is 2 1/2) but some never did and now he has been having problems with infection the past month and on the second visit in a months time the Vet at Manatee County Humane Society said the problematic baby teeth need to come out because a more serious infection might not end well Archie is typically very active and he thinks he is part spiderman the way he jumps up to catch a toy and when he chases after a toy he has to grab a nearby toy to take with him and drops that toy to pick up the toy that was thrown then runs back to get the toy he left behind, its really cute. I got a pup on advice from relatives to help me deal with my Sons death, he has helped me so much.
