Help Slaughterhouse Rescue Dog Get Needed Surgery. We rescued an American Bully from a slaughterhouse overseas, and discovered the first week he arrived that he needs major oral surgery and has a heart murmur. His teeth are destroyed from trying to naw his way out of the slaughterhouse kennel. He was sold by his owners to a slaughterhouse at the start of the pandemic. Tank gets along great with our other rescue, pitbull terrier named Bubbles, and 11 year old cat. Being sold by his owners to the meat trade industry overseas, he had a difficult and scary life. He was exposed to animals being tortured, and was found with his legs bound by zip ties. He deserves so much better, and we are blessed to give him his fur-ever home of safety, belly rubs, treats, & love. Surgery estimate is $4k for 4 root canals and $700 for cardiology. $4700 is an extensive financial burden for a family who adopted a dog who was sold with a clean bill of health, and we paid a hefty adoption fee. Your support would give him a life without pain. Tank has one root nerve pulp exposed and one blackened tooth. Tank's teeth are damaged and broken, likely from trying to chew his way out of a metal cage in a slaughterhouse in China, where the rescue org found him with his feet bound by zip ties. Our vet referred us to an oral surgeon who recommends root canals on 4 teeth, 3 canines and 1 mandible. Tank is as sweet as can be, and humorous. He loves to be petted and belly rubs. When you stop petting him, he places his paw on your to remind you he would love more affection. He can go from mellow to high energy in an instant. He loves to go for walks in his doggy stroller, where he catches the attention of everyone who passes by.
Duck
Duck is a one-year-old Shepherd mix in Moab, UT, who needs $2,000 for heart surgery.

Being at the right place at the right time may have helped save Duck's life. Underdog Rescue set up a spay and neuter clinic to help pets animals in the community and ended up saving Goose. "Duck and her sister, Goose, were brought to us on day one of the clinic," Chiara S., with Underdog Rescue, tells Waggle. "They hung out with us for the weekend until we could get them transported back to the rescue's ranch in Moab, UT. Soon after, they both went to a foster home in Grand Junction, CO, and flourished. When they went in to be spayed, the vet discovered Duck had a grade six heart murmur." (Grade six is the most severe heart murmur.) The rescue had quite a rollercoaster ride after that diagnosis. They learned Duck's heart defect could be corrected with surgery. Expensive surgery. If left untreated, she would die from heart failure in two to three years. So the rescue said: Let's raise the money to help Duck! "We think Duck is worth it. Donors who help us pay for treatment are incredibly helpful to our organization and to ensure our pups get the medical care they need," Chiara says. Duck is now scheduled for surgery at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. Please help Duck mend her broken heart.
Molly
Molly is a 13-year-old Lab mix in Creedmoor, NC, who needs $500 for the treatment of an infection related to cancer.

Molly has been a beloved family member to Rebecca T., her spouse, and their children for 13 years. They had her ever since she was six weeks old. So, when they got the heartbreaking news that Molly has cancer, they were devastated. "She sleeps in the bed with me and my spouse," Rebecca tells Waggle. "Molly has been by our side everywhere we go. This is hard on the family. Molly is my heart." Molly's immune system is deficient from fighting cancer, and she developed an infection. "My husband was bathing her and said, 'Rebecca, what is this?' We brought her to the veterinarian right away. They shaved the area down, and she's taking antibiotics," Rebecca says. Molly is being treated at Dabney Drive Animal Hospital. Rebecca's family is struggling to pay Molly's medical bills. Unfortunately, Rebecca recently got hurt and has been out of work. Her spouse is suffering from complications due to COVID and other medical problems, so they are hoping other pet lovers will pay it forward, so to speak, and help them help Molly. "She means the world to me," Rebecca says. "I love her to death and would do anything and everything for her. Molly makes us laugh with her smile and how well she listens and gets along with others. She hasn’t met a person she doesn’t get along with."
Cleopatra
Cleopatra is a 9-year-old Standard Poodle in Zionsville, IN, who needs $400 for surgical removal of cysts.

Cleo rescued me in December 2015. She knew instinctively that her royal presence was needed to complete my life. I had recently lost a dog, and Cleo took pity on me. She moved in and brightened my world. She surely did! Cleo is calm, calculating, and wise. She spends all her time making sure my life is full of walks, wags, whacks from her big paw to keep me in line, and tiny kisses. Cleo loves everyone. She has chosen to be a law enforcement officer for our town. She patrols a local walking trail from her perch from which she watches for people/dogs she knows. When she identifies them, she uses her special falsetto bark to great them. She has a thing for chicken. She loves any dish prepared with chicken. She would eat chicken all the time if she could. Because of the pandemic, I can’t do my normal work. Thus, we’ve gone two years without income. I picked up a piddly part time job to help, but I’m unable to pay many bills and only partial rent. Any help kindly offered would be ever so much appreciated. Cleo has had surgery twice to remove sebaceous oil glands that get infected, causing them to rupture and get infected. Here we go again. Dr. Ashley at All Star Vets in Westfield will remove three of these tumors on Sept. 14. There is a chance they could be cancerous, so they will be tested. One is on her right shoulder with two more on her right hip. The cost is estimated at $900 -1300. She wants to be around people. She loves to meet them on walks or in stores. Going to pet stores or Lowes makes her very happy because she gets to meet new people. And maybe get a treat too! But she can be a bit bossy. If I stay in bed too long, she lets me know. If I forget to make her dinner by 6pm, I am reprimanded. She never holds grudges, but she does keep me on schedule.
Lou
Lou is a one-year-old Pitbull in Whitesville, NY, who needs $1,700 for emergency leg surgery.

Anyone who has an active pup knows that it takes seconds for things to go from calm and under control to complete disaster. Angiline P. experienced this when her dog, Lou, jumped from a moving car! Once she got Lou back, she rushed her right over to the animal hospital. "Lou was treated for an emergency appointment. It was found that nothing was broken," Angiline tells Waggle. "However, Lou was severely bruised, swollen, and had no feeling in her front right leg. The veterinarian was not hopeful about her prognosis. Lou was treated with antibiotics and steroids." After giving Lou some time to heal, her leg did not get better. Angiline brought her to a specialist at Cornell University Hospital for Animals and got bad news, "We all hoped she may regain the use of her leg. Unfortunately, she has not, and the leg must be removed." Angiline is panicking. This could not be happening at a worse time. She can't afford the amputation surgery. "I have been unemployed for quite some time and have minimal funds available for Lou. I was denied for the Care Credit card and have exhausted all other avenues. I cannot turn away from our family member. Lou could live a happy and fulfilling life with this surgery." Lou is a huge part of Angiline's family. "She lives with our older dog, Dexter, our male pit bull, and is still over-excited about our cat Otis. We have two daughters, who are 13 and 11, that Lou sneaks into sleep with at night. She loves to cuddle." Can you help Lou get on the road to recovery?
Zym
Zym is a three-year-old Labrador Mix in Austin, TX who needs $2,000 for emergency surgery.

The phone call from the veterinarian's office was sad and urgent: A Labrador mix had eaten something he should not have (so typical for a Lab), and it caused an obstruction that needed to be surgically removed, or the dog could die. The dog's owner could not afford the surgery. They were also leaving on a long road trip due to a family emergency and could not give him the required care. The owner was facing economic euthanasia, putting the dog down because they could not afford his urgent surgery. The animal hospital contacted Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption in a hurry. With the clock ticking on Zym's life, the rescue had seconds to answer the question: "Can you take this dog in and pay for his surgery?" Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption doesn't turn away dogs that need medical care or expensive surgeries. "It's why we are always begging and pleading for money," the rescue tells Waggle. "We are so thankful we can rely on Waggle to help us." With surgery, the vet can likely retrieve the blockage; it's believed to be a plastic or rubber object blocking his digestive tract. Once it's removed, Zym is expected to be OK. But without surgery, Zym will not make it. The rescue said yes! And thought, "Oh my gosh, we sure hope we can raise the money for his care. We are a nonprofit rescue!" New Hope Animal Hospital told the group Zym was so adorable he was worth it! The situation everyone was in, Zym, his owners, the veterinarian's office, and the rescue, is heartbreaking. Will you please help Zym get the emergency surgery he needs?
Sissy
Sissy is a Hound Mix puppy in Huntington, WV, who needs $2,000 for emergency treatment and hospitalization.

The dear, sweet puppy's cries broke the hearts of rescuers at One By One Animal Advocates. "When you hear her, your heart just tightens up. We knew something was terribly wrong," Heather A., from the nonprofit group, tells Waggle. It all started when a rescue volunteer sent One by One Animal Advocates video of a hound mix puppy yowling in pain. The volunteer asked if the group would save the dog--- and of course, they could not say no. The pup, named Sissy, needed immediate medical attention, but the nearest animal hospital was two hours away. So, the puppy's rescuer literally went the extra mile and drove her to the ER. That's where veterinarians discovered an infection spread to her brain, and she was having constant seizures. Then the news got even worse: X-rays revealed she had severe pneumonia. "The veterinarian said, 'She does not look good.' Her lungs looked like a snowfield, indicative of severe pneumonia," Heather says. "We thought, 'Are we going to be able to help this dog at all?' It sounded pretty dire." The emergency room stabilized Sissy by giving her IV fluids, antibiotics, and valium to control her seizures. She spent the night in an oxygen tank. The next day she was transferred to Proctorville Animal Clinic. That's when a new set of X-rays showed she also had a belly full of bones! "She was out living on her own and eating bones to survive," Heather adds. "They could not even do abdominal surgery to remove the bones because she was in such horrible shape." Sissy spent a week in the hospital, and slowly all the treatments began to work. Her seizures stopped, the pneumonia and infection cleared up, and she passed the bones. Now Sissy is out of the hospital and doing well, but One by One Animal Advocates is still trying to pay off one heck of a veterinary bill for all her care. They need your help! "When we get a phone call at 10 pm, and a dog is in obvious pain, we say, 'Yes,'" Heather says. "We don't have time to decide, 'Can we fundraise for this or not?' We are very dependent and grateful for donations because they give us the ability to help a pup like Sissy, who is in pain, get the medical care they need."
Mary Jane
Mary Jane is an 11-year-old Boxer in Ypsilanti, MI, who needs $1200 for critical surgery.

Mary Jane needs surgery, stat! While everyone was locked down during the midst of the pandemic, including many animal hospitals, two small tumors became visible on Mary Jane. Her human dad, Richard H., noticed them but says no pet clinics close to him were performing surgeries at that time because of COVID-19. As the virus outbreak and quarantine stretched on, Richard struggled to find work like so many people. His income decreased, but at the same time, the size of one of Mary Jane's tumors increased. "It became huge fast," Richard tells Waggle. Mary Jane's masses then grew into colossal tumors; one hangs down and reaches the ground. Now animal hospitals are back open, and she needs the masses removed immediately at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida. But Richard is having trouble paying for this incredibly critical surgery because of his pandemic-related job loss. He hopes dog lovers who read about Mary Jane's plight will help come to her rescue. Richard's entire family misses playing with Mary Jane. "It's not right for her to have to live with this," Richard says. "She is amazing with the kids; the tumor is slowing her down," he says. These guys were born at the ranch to their mom, Emme. We have had them now for about 3.5 months. They tested positive for parvo in July. Cookie Monster and Big Bird pulled through but unfortunately Grover died on 7/14 just the day after he went to the vet. These three are very fun pups. They are high energy and very lovable. It's always fun for us to be able to experience pups from the time they are born, and then watch them grow in to more mature puppies. They have been very easy to work with - always hoping for special attention and love. It has been a very challenging time for us at Underdog having so many pups come down with Parvo at once. We make sure all of our pets receive the best care we can find for them. Any donation to help us pay for these vet bills is incredibly helpful! All three pups received great care at our nearby vet hospital. We were very surprised when we found out that one wasn't able to pull through. It is always hard to lose one of our Underdogs. We are happy to see that the other two, post medical treatment, have made a full recovery and are back to their playful selves. Cookie Monster, Big Bird and Grover all have very unique personalities. They have great sibling banter and also look out for one another. They are very trusting and friendly, since they've only ever received care from us at the Ranch. They know it as their home and have become quite comfortable with all of us who care for them.
