Blarney

Blarney was born on New Year’s Eve 2005 and came to live with us on Valentine’s Day 2006! A funny cuddly Pug, he has been with us for his whole life! When he was one we adopted his brother from south east pug rescue. In 2010 we added his first human sister to our family and 2014 we added his first human brother! True to Pug form, Blarney is always the cuddle bug and the first to cuddle up next to someone when they don’t feel well. He enjoys sharing popcorn with us on movie nights at home. Every year we celebrate their birthday on New Year’s Eve. Blarney is quite the character-anyone will vouche for that!!! Our dogs mean the world to us! Over the last year as a family, our little family has gone through a divorce, a recent job loss, two family members with cancer, and now facing 2 ill elderly dogs. We made a commitment to our pets 14 years ago but could use some help! After a few months of coughing and being treated for allergies, we wondered if maybe Blarney had something more going on. So in July we took him in fearing the worst. Lots of things can go wrong with elderly pugs of course. Blarney‘s heart & lungs are both working overtime. He will require medication & monitoring for the rest of his life. We hope he still has a number of years left With our family While Blarney is a fierce defender of our home, he always cries in the car since the day we brought him home! Blarney loves peas but he hates carrots. He’s always happy to curl up with his butt in a humans face, too! Though he is not as active now, Blarney still enjoys taking walks and playing lots of games and being super silly.

One day as I was searching for my first cat Achilles who was missing. I came across a neighbor with kittens outside there home. That's when I saw Tay Tay. They had named her Star. She is truly a Star her personality is so incredible. I fell in love with her right away. I renamed her Thea which I thought meant Star in Greek but means Goddess. Nicknamed her Tay Tay. I have had her for 12 years. She is so loving and compassionate but also strong, fierce and independent. Very protective She will attack my other cat if he scratches or hisses at my son or I. She sleeps by my sons feet every night. My son has special needs and she is great emotional support. She hated being held but she allows him to hold her for short periods. She is a bottomless pit when it comes to food. Due to Covid-19 I lost my job my special needs son is virtual schooling which I need to be present for. I am a single mom with no help. I am behind on rent. And my car is having issues. I have had lots of trama in my life. All I had to look forward to was my cats and son. Tay Tay is having trouble walking and falls over, eating,drinking,using the bathroom. She was diagnosed with vestibular disease. The type that effect the brainstem, the cause needs to be diagnosed in order to treat her. She need a MRI at Guardians Veterinary Specialists. She can be completely immobile at time. I can see the terror in her eyes. For a can that literally bounces off the walls its horrifying She stops at nothing to get what she wants. She acts more like a dog then a cat. We call her Ninja kitty because she can defy the law of physics. She is so talkative we talk to her and she answers back. She will steal food at any cost. She does this trick, jumps up into your hand while standing grabs it and cuddles it. She is constantly trying to escape to outside. Wakes me up by head butting me!
Leo
Leo is an 10-week-old old Ragdoll mix cat in Providence, RI, who needs $760 for emergency leg surgery.

Leo was just 8 weeks old when he was found injured on the side of a road in rural Arkansas. He was suffering from two broken/fractured legs and was very sick! Animal Control believes he may have been struck by a vehicle. Leo was stuck at the shelter in pain until rescue stepped in to pay for his surgery. Leo is a happy-go-lucky guy with an adorably grumpy face! He loves hanging out with the other foster kittens and hanging around the office staff. He is patiently waiting in boarding at the local vet hospital until he can travel to his new life and find his furever family! Although humans failed him early on in his life, he does not let that get him down. He holds no grudges! Rhode Home Rescue has taken over care for Leo from our partnering rescue in Arkansas (Hope for Paws) due to their own lack of funding. We are both non-profit charities that rely on donations to get animals necessary vetting, supplies and other medical care. Leo suffered from extensive traumatic injuries. He had a pin placed in his front leg and also had a splint on the other front leg for a smaller fracture. He was also loaded with parasites and needed antibiotics for secondary infections. Leo required anesthesia for placing the pin and resetting his leg. Leo is special because of his fighting spirit! This little kitten has gone through more than most other animals ever experience in their entire lives! He is lovable, playful and just happy being able to get a second chance at life with his new rescue pals. He has the spirit of a warrior and has been able to overcome everything that's been thrown at him thus far!
Luna
Luna is a 2-year-old Lab Mix in Gainesville, FL, who needs $2,000 for Rectal Carcinoma Excision.

Luna (or as she's affectionately known as: Looney Toon) was rescued at 1 month old from an organisation in Central Florida that flies to high-kill shelters across the Southeast US and saves puppies about to be euthanized. Two years later, she lives with my partner and I in our house with a big yard that she loves to run in. She sleeps in bed, and snuggles with us on the couch. She's family. Looney has become our unofficial therapy dog. I got her after leaving an abusive relationship to help with living on my own again. She learned on her own to help me with my panic attacks, Now she does the same for my partner, too. She's a 60lb lap baby with no personal space, and we love her that way. Her favorite treats are bananas and carrots, and adores going to the park to play with everyone. We can barely afford rent right now, and weren't prepared for this. I'm in physical therapy for my back and shoulder, and am about to be removed from my health insurance. I don't know how I'm going to be able to afford both of health costs, and keep us fed and under our roof After about a year of seemingly random GI issues, we biopsied some abnormal tissue to discover it was a rectal carcinoma in situ. We were referred to UF Veterinary Hospital, where Dr. Bertran confirmed Luna's diagnosis of rectal cancer. Luna has trouble defecating, and is left with a lot of blood we have to wipe up when she does. She's currently on NSAIDs for swelling and pain. Our big baby is terrified of thunder, and big scary boom boom days are hard. She likes to hide in my bathtub when scared. She's big goofball and loves to sit and lay in almost cat-like positions. She also enjoys being held like a baby if you're strong enough to lift her.She's never met a human or animal she doesn't love, and her entire body wags with her tail when she gets excited. She's pure joy.
Ivan
Ivan is a 2-year-old Xoloitzquintli/Chihuahua mix in Austin, TX, who needs $2,000 for Knee Surgery.

Ivan is a Xoloitzquintli-Chihuahua mix who was rescued from an abusive family of hoarders along with other dogs. The rescue agency shared with us that the dogs taken had been hit on the head with a stick as a form of discipline. Now, Ivan lives with a loving family of five: me, my husband and our three children -- 16, 11 and 7. Ivan loves cuddling on the couch, playing fetch and going for walks. He follows me everywhere I go and curls up at my feet if I'm working at my computer or eating dinner. I take him for walks in our neighborhood every day. The kids like to see him run circles in the backyard. He's so fast he looks like a mini greyhound at a track. I had to take a leave from my job because of the lack of childcare due to COVID and other pressing family issues. We simply cannot afford this surgery. We don't have the money. Due to the malnutrition, Ivan has the skeleton of a puppy. His bones never fused properly. Since we got him in March, he has injured each knee just doing normal things: jumping off a porch and jumping off a couch. Dr. Rob Calabrese at Firehouse Animal Care Center has diagnosed his right knee with a torn miniscus, a partially torn ACL and a grade 3 luxating patella that needs repair. Ivan is a real cutie. He likes to burrow under blankets and sleep at your feet. He peeks out every now and then, melting our hearts. He is always happy to see us, tail wagging. He is also very smart and learns quickly. He is super curious. Taking him for a walk is always an adventure. He doesn't fight a bath or nail-trimming. He cuddles just like a tired toddler!
Patches
Patches is a 8-year-old Unknown in Private, WA, who needs $239 for Clavamox and Onsior.

Patches' mother was a stray who found me at a time when I was living alone and really wishing for a cat. She meowed so consistently outside the apartment door, that she convinced me her owner had to be in the apartment building. After an hour went by (everyone could hear her), no one claimed her, so I did. She was very skinny and hungry. Then I found out she was pregnant and Patches was born. Patches is a very sweet cat, just like his mother. He also likes to cuddle on the bed next to her and will occasionally lick her ears. He has also lived with large dogs before and has picked up a few habits from them. Such as also wagging his tail when he's happy, not just when he's annoyed like most cats. I've been laid off on March 16. At first, I had a lot of trouble trying to qualify for regular unemployment, which I didn't. Then finally, Pandemic Unemployment came out and that was working until I got sick with COVID myself. Then I didn't qualify again and lost all income. Patches urinated a significant amount of blood on 7/26/20. I took him to Greenwood Animal Hospital to see Raj Garhwal and he got a urinalysis, ultrasound, and two medications: Clavamox and Onsior. Patches had an emergency UTI and crystals. His urine was too alkaline also, and the vet gave me a bag of cat food (Royal Canin) for urinary health that he should be switched to. Patches loves to go outside. So I take him for walks occasionally with a cat harness and leash. He also loves to watch people, cars, and animals very intensely out the window. I crack the shades so he can see outside and he perches up on the windowsill, then hunches over to get as good a look as possible with laser intensity, tail wagging.
Kyva
Kyva is a 5-year-old Chihuahua in Osprey, FL, who needs $290 for Dental.

We rescued July of 2015 (5mo). She had a cast on her left leg from being stepped on as a pup and no one doing anything about it. Rescue agency had to re-adjust leg, place in 2 rods, & multiple screws. Kyva has been with us for 5yrs, cast free & is one of the happiest, most lovable dogs you will meet. While scared of everything she is also curious about everything & has grown to be a Daddy's girl. Kyva is our furbaby. She was our only dog until 3yrs ago. If she is not snuggled with her dad, she is snuggled with her sister. Kyva likes to wrestle with her sister, play tag & when hyper will run in big circles. She is lovable to all family members, loves giving kisses, & is extremely bonded to my husband & will climb on his shoulders & lick his bald head whenever given the chance. COVID-19 has extremely impacted my husband's ministry & his counseling business. At this time we are seeking help for her dental extractions. We would be joyful in knowing that not only can she eat comfortably, but she will have better breath for a long happy life! While we have spent many resources caring for Kyva's leg, our current medical situation is with her teeth. We know dogs don't have the best breath but we never expected that her breath was due to her impacted teeth that never fell out during her puppy years. Manatee Humane Society has expressed she has multiple upper & lower teeth that are infected & need to be extracted for overall health. Kyva gets very happy when we are going for a ride because most of the time she gets to go visit her cousins. She can often be found laying in weird positions or acting like an ostrich by hiding her head only. She is special to us because of her story & while the hard to her leg was tragic, today she doesn't let it stop her! She will often hold her leg up to get sympathy treats!
Muki
Muki is a 3-year-old chihuahua in Osprey, FL, who needs $290 for Dental.

Muki was adopted on Easter 2017, and has been with us ever since. She became the little sister to Kyva as she entered our family. She lives with a liver shunt & has intermittent seizures. However, that hasn't stopped her from parkouring around the house, twirling like a ballerina, whooing like Chewbacca, and being a personal space invader. She lives with a constant smile that brightens your day! Muki is the little sister to Kyva and just as her sister has grown into a Daddy's girl. She loves to go on car rides, walks, plays with her sister, & be held by Daddy. She is a sunbather and a sock & underwear stealer. If not cuddled with her sister, she loves to be snuggled with her parents. Muki is loved by everyone in the family and is especially spoiled by her grandmother. COVID-19 has extremely impacted Muki's Dad's ministry & his counseling business. At this time we are seeking help for her dental extractions. We would be joyful in knowing that not only can she eat comfortably, but she will have better breath for a long happy life! Muki was rescued at 4mo old & came with no medical history. At around 6mo she had her first seizure. Diagnosis was that she has a liver shunt and this causes intermittent seizures. At her last check-up at Humane Society of Manatee County, she was found to have multiple impacted teeth & due to this, bacteria & infection-causing medical concerns. What makes Muki special is her personality. Sometimes it seems that she is channeling Elvis or Stallone as her lip curls on one side. At other times it's like she channels either Chewbacca or an elephant with the way she howls. What also makes her special is that she has no understanding of personal space. If she's not sticking her nose up your nose to say hi she is found sitting on her sister.
Luna

Luna came into my life by luck and chance. I was walking down the sidewalk and I found her laying on the grass by herself. I moved to Idaho a month ago and it was extremely cold that night. She was maybe a month old when I took her. She has an older sister, Luna, which is three months old and is always trying to take care of her and cuddle especially now that she is sick. As soon as Luna was brought into my home, she wanted to become instant best friends with her new big sister. She was always walking on top of her to find a nice spot to cuddle with her. Luna loves to be involved with everyone, when my friends come by, she is right there with us no matter where we go. She is such an incredibly loving and fun kitten and takes a liking to everyone she meets. I have recently moved to Idaho from Florida into my very first apartment and finally have my first little babies. I have been furloughed since April and just obtained a job when I moved to Idaho but with my first apartment and the previous vet bills, it's been difficult. Luna started off with pinkeye that I noticed when I got her, I rushed to get ointment; to no prevail. I took her to the vet, told the doctor she had been sneezing at home but that was completely disregarded because she hadn't sneeze at the clinic during those 10 minutes, they gave her medication for her eye. Luna woke up today without an appetite, eye is worse and has difficulty breathing. Luna is the sweetest little thing I have ever come across. She always wants to be cuddled or watching Netflix right next to me. My favorite thing about Luna is when she wants to cuddle with you, she will turn around and reverse and scooch her behind all the way until she feels her whole body right next to yours. She is such a loving and happy baby which is why it pains me to see her like this.
