Gracie

I adopted Gracie at 12 weeks from a family who no longer could support her. She's a hearty eater and supplemented her puppy diet with furniture, walls and carpeting. They play with each other all day in a huge outdoor playground. There’s a dog-mobile in the perfect dog spot. The bed/couch in the living room is the heart of our family while Gracie is truly the soul. Gracie lives the best dog life ever. The girls play outside for hours, coming to check, get a drink, and go out to run and nap more. They come in at dark to have dinner and dessert. Every night Gracie swings a long snake all around squeaking loud! She loves playing tag, stick and racing around on the trails. Then we nap Recently I've experienced some personal and physical issues that have complicated life. As a retiree, living on a fixed income, Gracie's bills exceed my ability to pay. Gracie hit a sharp 1” piece of metal on a small gate, and hit so hard half the skin ripped off her side. It is a horrendous wound. Gracie has had a special 3rd surgery with advanced techniques. That worked for the tear, but a large wound is still open with sedation and daily bandage changes. I've slept with her 24/7 to keep her calm. Gracie is my sweetie! When she wants attention, she pushes hard against you and looks up with those big eyes. She loves hogging the couch. She stands on the couch arm, looks down on me and puts her paw up swinging it until I get smacked. I look up, and get covered in kisses which makes me laugh and she does it more and it makes me laugh even more and on it goes.
Leliana Foster

I got Leliana from one of my mom's friends along with her brother Hagrid. Lele and I just clicked and they had called her Dora the Explorer cause she liked to explore. I named her Leliana after one of the amazing characters from the Dragon Age game series which I was playing at the time. Lele is anxious and skittish, but she still loved to explore the house sometimes and loves to lay on my chest. Lele is anxious and skittish with the other two cats and dogs that aren't her brother, but she does interact with Hagrid. They will cuddle and clean each other, but they do fight sometimes. At the end of August, I will be moving in with my Dad in New York and she will be an only cat. She usually runs under my bed no matter who comes in unexpectedly, but she loves to be pet when someone approaches calmly I had to quit my job in May due to COVID and I still haven't gotten any unemployment. My mom and Grandma don't have the money either as we also had to get surgery for our dog a few weeks ago. I will do whatever to make sure my baby girl is healthy and happy. Leliana was diagnosed with some pretty big bladder stones. The vet we originally had to bring her to said they were as big as his pinkie finger tip. We then brought her to our regular vet and they said she would need surgery as these wouldn't dissolve with diet. We finally found an affordable and highly rated animal hospital that is able to get her in early next week. Leliana is basically my child. Whenever I'm sad or basically anytime I'm in my bed, she lays on my chest or against me when I'm on my side and wants all the pets. I love when she contorts and looks funny, or when she covers her eyes when she's sleeping. I love to play with her toe beans and love that she lets me. I will do anything for this sweet girl.
Johnny
Johnny is a 1-month-old Orange tabby in Fullerton , CA, who needs $1,850 for Eye removal surgery .

Our baby was born with complications in his left eye. Since his birth we have been going to the vet weekly to treat it until he is a safe age for eye removal surgery. He is currently one month and is in risk of not surviving the anesthesia injection. However his eye is getting worse and he may risk dying from infection or bleeding. Johnny is one of 5 kittens born on July 13. He is super curious and always wants to wander everywhere. He loves his siblings and loves being in the middle of all the fun. He is loving and playful and always wants to be pet and held. Despite having one eye he makes the best of his day and is fearless in his ventures. The total fee for eye removal surgery is $2000 we are unable to pay the full amount at one time. It’s just my sister and I and since covid we have been short on income and struggling to make ends meet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Johnny is currently being seen by the animal vet clinic in Anaheim. Our doctor is amazing and Johnnys been doing well with his weekly eye check ups. Just this morning though, while he was nursing, his mother began attacking and chewing on his ruptured eye! We took poor Johnny to the ER where they were able to stop the bleeding and give him relief for the pain. Johnny is a lover boy and the sweetest baby. He falls asleep in your arms and meows when you walk away from him. At only one month in age, he already has such a big personality. It kills us to see him suffering and in pain. He still manages to be loving and active despite his many eye treatments. We will do anything to make sure he lives a good life
Basil

We are a MA approved 501c3 charity/nonprofit. We saved basil from a local highkill shelter just before his time was up and he was about to be euthanized. He is now safe with us and will be up for adoption once he’s fully vetted. We appreciate any donations towards his surgery. We exist to save special needs cats that otherwise would not have a chance. Basil is part of a rescue/nonprofit so he’s not in his forever home just yet. Basil is a sweet playful kitten that will make a family very happy one day. He’s super snuggly and playful and will look extra cute with his one eye appearance post surgery. Basil is only 12 weeks old right now and has his whole life ahead of him. We are a nonprofit so any donations are helpful and go directly towards our cats in need’ We are all volunteers who always try to Fundraise to take care of our kitties in our care. Basil is being treated at Northeast Veterinary Clinic in Peabody ma Basil is only 12 weeks old so no prior history with this kitten. He is otherwise healthy playful active kitten. Once this enucleation is done basil will be ready for his forever people as soon as he recovers from surgery. He’s the best kitty. All our odd cats are special in there own way!! Basil is very playful and sweet and loves to be held. He loves other cats and has been a joy for his foster dad to take care of. Once his eye comes out he’s going to make some lucky family very happy! Basil can’t wait to start his forever life after he completes his surgery.

Myrtle is a special rescue senior that was pulled from local animal control. She is currently living in a foster home with RHR as a "sanctuary dog" through the rescue. Being a senior, she has had a variety of vetting needs such as dental work, cataract care as well as ongoing incontinence issues. Myrtle is as quiet as a mouse but so loving and really appreciates having a safe space to call her own in her "golden years". She is patient with the foster puppies and loves lounging with the other elderly dogs in the home. She often gets very excited for food and gets a cute little pep in her step when the food bowl comes out! Rhode Home Rescue is a 501(c)3 all volunteer and foster based rescue that works to save local dogs from neglect, abuse or abandonment here in RI and in partnering States/Rescues. Many of the dogs in our care are medically needy and donations are what keeps us afloat. Myrtle desperately needs dental work. She has had a substantial issue with rotten teeth that have caused abscesses in the past and make it difficult for her to chew. This dental work would be completed by Warwick Animal Hospital in Warwick, RI. This would clear up the issues she's been having for good and help her live a happy and healthy life. Myrtle was cast aside like so many other senior dogs. She quickly became lost in a sea of applications for other younger dogs in the rescue. It has been months, and still no adopter is able to make the commitment for this senior gal. Her current foster mom loves her little quirks and she still manages to wag that little nub tail in delight whenever her foster momma comes home from a long day.

Ava came in to my life three and a half years ago, just when I needed her most. It had been a rough few years and I knew I needed something to pour my love into just as much as they would to me. So I found her, in a sea of cute black pups, she hung back just looking up at me willing me to take her home. And so I did. It was love at first sight. Ava lives with me, my dad, and Molly our 11 year old cat. After 3 years I can say without reservation that dad loves her almost as much as I do, and Molly tolerates her as much as a moody, independent feline can. Ava also has lots of extended family, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends who she loves though she is definitely mama's girl. I think that happens when you take your dog everywhere you go. Honestly I wasn't expecting surgery to be quite this much. I've been putting money aside for a few months but it just isn't quite enough. I don't want to wait on the surgery any longer as I am afraid she will further injure herself while overcompensating on her other leg. Late in 2019 Ava was playing with her Portuguese Water Dog friends Mario and Vena. They were chasing each other around after some light rain and Ava's back leg slipper out from under her as she went to turn. I could tell something not great had just happened but being a her, she hid it for a while. Eventually she couldn't hide it and we went to the vet and learned she tore her cruciate ligament. Ava is my best friend, emotional support, and all around general inspiration to get up and do stuff. Her two favorite activities (besides eating cause she is a lab) are playing Frisbee and swimming in the pool or the ocean. Her preference is to combine those activities. It took a while to learn the swimming pool, she hates stairs and they were an obstacle to enter the pool. But now, she is pro.

Chewy is a 4 1/2 year old Boykin Spaniel, with deep brown eyes and is very smart, funny, and cares for us as much as we care for her. She has been a joy to love and spend time with. She is a huge part of our families lives and goes with us on many adventures. She's traveled with us across the country, and goes with us on almost every trip. Chewy loves playing with her toys and chasing squirrels and lizards. She sleeps with us in bed every night. She protects us and loves to be around us and our other pets. She has been through obedience training with us, and loves to learn new tricks. She gets so excited to see our friends and family when they come to visit. Chewy has been a big help since moms been working from home from Covid. We were caught off guard with this situation and did not imagine it could happen to our relatively young pup. With the current pandemic our income is not the same as it once was. We can't wait to help Chewy through this but know a long road is ahead for her recovery. Our beautiful (Boykin Spaniel) Chewy 4 1/2 years old had a herniated disk and just underwent emergency surgery. She was a very happy playful dog chasing squirrels one day then deteriorated very quickly the next, first not playing, then not able to use her back legs. Last night we had to rush her to Gainesville to have an MRI and emergency surgery at the UF Small Animal Hospital. Healthy before. Chewy is special in many ways, but her ability to understand commands is impressive. She also likes to share her own demands, and often tells us when its time to go to bed. Its funny when she starts to get tired in the evening she will sit at the bottom of the steps wine for us to look and point her head upstairs to bed. This is her saying its bedtime. She lets us know its dinner time as well.
Tasz Aponte

Tasz's story is heartbreaking. He's in desperate need of immediate surgery and really needs your help. The adorable Pom-Poodle (Pomeranian and Poodle mix) was the victim of a hit and run on a busy street near his home. Tasz's family immediately raced him to the animal hospital and got horrible news. "The veterinarians diagnosed him with a fractured leg, dislocated tail and severe bruising," Selinnet V., his human mom, tells Waggle. "There is no internal bleeding, but the most economical option is to amputate his front left leg. Tasz has not had any major surgeries in his lifetime. He is a healthy dog that goes for his yearly checkups." Tasz has an entire household who adores him. "I live with Tasz, my mom, my three siblings, my three-month-old niece, and my sister's 10-year-old Pomeranian, Munchkin," Selinnet tells us. "Tasz is their dog as much as he is mine." All Selinnet wants is for Tasz to be home and healthy again. Dr. Donna Lee Taylor, a board certified surgeon at Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine, is treating Tasz. He's got a long road to a full recovery, but with the surgery and his loving, dedicated family helping him through, his prognosis is bright. Selinnet says she's struggling to pay for Tasz's surgery and care because, like so many people right now, she's financially strapped. The pandemic affected her job. "Due to COVID-19 shutdowns, my hours have been cut at work," she adds. "It would mean the world to have him with us. He was a happy dog."
Peter Pan

Peter Pan (Peter) is our "baby". We've had him since he was a puppy, rescued from a kennel, where he developed kennel cough. We treated him right away and he has been out little guy ever since. He suffers from separation anxiety, properly because we babied him way too much as a puppy; but those adorable black eyes staring into ours was too much to resist. He has a sister named Tinkerbell (hense his name) and they are always together!
