When Sadie Sunshine arrived at her foster home, her foster mom quickly realized something wasn't quite right. Poor Sadie was limping! Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption immediately had her seen by a vet who said the Lab has a damaged patella (knee cap) and requires surgery. Sadie Sunshine is a young dog, and if she does not get this surgery, she risks being in pain for the rest of her life. Lucky Lab saved her from a shelter after she and her sibling were found dumped on the side of a road. The nonprofit organization can't believe how sweet, happy, and well adjusted she is after being abandoned and stuck in an animal control facility. Sadie Sunshine is perfectly named! She is a constant ray of sunshine. Lucky Lab relies on donations to continue to carry out its life-saving dog rescue work. The group never turns away a dog because they need medical assistance. Help Sadie Sunshine get the surgery she needs at Williams-Sebby Veterinary Clinic. When it comes time for treats, she is the gentlest girl we’ve ever met. She is so slow and careful. Rather than grabbing it out of your hand like some dogs do, you have to be patient while she gently takes the treat 😊 Sadie absolutely loves to snuggle. She enjoys spending her days upside down on the bed or dog bed and will snuggle up against your side (gently, of course) if you allow her to. "Sadie Sunshine got her name because her personality is just that, sunshiney," the rescue's Kat F. tells Waggle. "While her face always looks very serious in pictures, Sadie has a loving, playful personality that is larger than life! She loves getting attention from anyone and will hustle on over if she thinks there’s the potential for a pat or scratch. Sadie just knows that everyone loves her!"
Jax

Jax came into our lives in 2013, when I had just lost a family member. The typical story, we fell in love with him, & his one blue eye. He was unique in breed & personality alike. He ran into walls & was so clumsy at first. He is now a member of the family. Jax has been a healthy pup until recent. My husband and I have been laid off and Jax needs eye removal due to severe onset glaucoma. Jax loves to run around with our other pup Levi. They roam around the gardens outside. Jax does laps up & back along the fence in our yard with the neighbor dogs. He's become great friends with them. He is also very protective of his new baby sister, and checks in on her often or when she fusses. My husband and I have been laid off due to the Covid pandemic. We are behind on bills as is everyone, and cannot afford the surgery Jax needs to live a healthy life. We would be lost without him in this time, and need help to save his life. A few days ago (July 13) we noticed that Jax was not eating, drinking or playing like is usual self. Finally, we noticed there was a fog across his eyes and he was not able to keep them open. We took Jax to the ER Vet of St. Charles where they diagnosed Jax with genetic glaucoma and high pressure (which is what causes the pain) in his eyes. He is now in need of fast eye removal. Jax has such a big personality. Whenever we talk to him, or call him, he tilts his head as though he is fully understood what you just said. When we come inside from a long walk or warm run in the yard, he plops down, belly to the cool floor. He brings so much joy to our home, it is hard to see him in so much pain.
Bruno

Bruno was adopted into our family in August 2017. He was estimated to be 1-2 years old at the time. The bond was instant & he became our baby of the family. Around 2 months after adoption Bruno started exhibiting signs of pain. As of now he has had at least 4 procedures for this issue, starting at our local vet office a couple times believing it was only an abscess, being referred to The University of Illinois small animal clinic & ultimately going to Veterinary Specialty Clinic in Buffalo Grove, IL.

Zeppelin was a literal Christmas miracle! My husband and I had been living in Colorado for a about a year when we went to Texas to visit our families for Christmas. She was found by a cousin who tried to find her family for weeks but was going to take her to a shelter the next day. It took just one look for us to realize that she would have a happier life in Colorado as our girl! She is sweet and kind but most of all adventurous! It is amazing to watch her play with her cranky old schnauzer and with our toddler! Before her injury she was one of the best hiking Buddies a family could ask for! She is tolerant of all the crazy things our toddler does to her, including making her wear necklaces... Because she is a princess. Her personality is very spunky and loving. This was a very unexpected. We have a enough in savings to cover the cost of one leg. But the vet recommended that we get both procedures at once which has to be paid up front. We can hold off and save but she is in alot of day to day pain so we really can't put it off. Zeppelin has not just one but two torn ACLs. It came as a sudden and total shock to us because nothing specific caused the injury. One day she cried and limped a little bit in her walk but then seemed like nothing was wrong. Over the next week we noticed that she would favor it. We took her into the vet thinking it was arthritis and learned instead that she may have had a genetic disposition. Zeppelin will literally tell you all about it! She talks anytime she feels like she needs attention and sometimes just to talk to the toddler. Her blue eyes make people melt and her sweet playful nature make you never want to stop petting her. On the trails or walking the sidewalk she is always interested in finding a new animal or human to play with!

Our lovable Poe bear care came to us from the Humane Society. We had gotten a new kitten and didn't want her to be alone while we were at work, so we went in to adopt a cat. My love had always wanted a tuxedo cat, and we were blessed to find Poe. We were instantly drawn to him and he came to us immediately when we noticed him, and we knew he was ours. He is a very relaxed and chill cat and loves everyone. He's really great with the nieces and nephews too. He plays with our other cats and is a cuddly big brother. He loonies to sleep at my feet or on my partners shoulder. He follows him around like a shadow! Heaven forbid if his morning routine is not followed. My love lost his job due to quarantine and we are now a one family income. With rent coming due & all the other bills, we can't spare the amount its going to cost for all the testing. We are so scared if we can't help him what will happen. We noticed that Poe seemed to be peeing in different spots around house the past few days and watched him closely. We saw blood in his urine and he wasn't urinating normally or really at all. We took him to Blue Pearl and he has FLUTD, but we can't get the tests done that are needed to see if there is something more. He's part of our family and it's so hard not to love him. I can't even stay upset at his cute face long. He HAS to have his routine in the morning. If he doesn't get his food as soon as we wake up, he cries as if there is no tomorrow. His daddy bears pillow us his favorite perch in the whole house.

Addison & Atticus are 2 of a litter of 4 kittens that came to us at the wee age still nursing momma. Well 2 months later Mom has been adopted and the boys are left, but these had come down with a serious URI and conjunctivitis- herpes infection that affected each one & lost their eye. We have been able to get the surgery done, they are waiting for homes at skagithumane.org They have learned to become social and affectionate, very happy social like butterflies, with lots of character and energy. Kittens at 3 months plus of age, they can be separated or adopted together. Each one has their unique personality and its always fun to run in a pack, but also when on their own they will seek out people attention. Any assistance is greatly appreciated as we are a non-profit animal organization striving to assist abandon shelter animals get a second chance in life, your support helps us achieve and help more. Dr. Christine Monroe DVM, is with Rescue Pet Plus Vet, a mobile Veterinary service helping Rescues and Animal Shelters receive the much needed Veterinary care that sometimes Private practice is not as easy to come by. Her heart and energy are the catapult to her mission for these groups and organizations. She has supplied surgery and care. All lives matter and these are no exception, it's so challenging and cruel sometimes what kittens and all felines face when abandon and not wanted anymore, especially in an animal shelter. They made it to our shelter and we want to help them get a loving home. HSSV does not have a DVM on site so reaching out to other DVMs can be challenging. These guys just needed a chance.

Hello, my name is Jéddy. I recently turned 18 on May 29th. Back in November of 2019 a stray cat would always be at the front of my door. I began to feed her and welcomed her with open arms. A few months later she gave birth to four kittens on April 1st. At 7 weeks we took them to the shelter where we learned they were sick due to not being dewormed. The kittens are very lovely, playful, loving, caring, and PLAYFUL. They weren’t really used to being outside due to being inside all of the time. They love jumping on couches, chasing one another, and whenever someone walks through the door they’ll tilt their head, lol. They got along with one another and other people very well. Due to the pandemic my mother has been laid off from her job. The total cost of brining all the kittens is a bit much at the moment. I would like for my kittens to receive proper care and for me to be able to also get them back. At exactly 7 weeks the kittens began throwing up and having diarrhea. This was the first time they became ill. My mother and I tried to change their diet and also give them more water but we saw that didn’t help. We took them to Animal Aid Inc where we were informed that they were sick due to not being dewormed. All four kittens are special due to the fact that they are extremely loving and playful. They love being cuddled and played with. I’d always take a nap with them once a day. They loving running around and chasing strings. They love to play in sneakers. They love to scratch the wall and carpets. It’s so much that makes these fur babies so special

A few months back my husband found a litter of kittens that were being taken to the pound. He brought all of them home and found homes for most of them except two. The instant I saw Ash I fell in love. We have been so connected to each other ever since, he follows me everywhere I go. He also either sleeps on my pillow or chest at night. He is so great with my kids also. The whole family has fallen in love with this cat more than I thought we could fall in love with an animal. Ever since we have found out that he was sick our hearts have been breaking.
Spudnuts

Spudnuts was a stray for at least 3 months, being fed by a kind soul. We found her ad on Craigslist and knew that we had to take her into our Sanctuary at NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue, for senior and special needs animals, where she could get the care she needed. The kind soul was calling her Sponges, but as soon as we met her, we started calling her Spudnuts, because she's as sweet as can be. We quickly found that Spudnuts must have been someone cat, as she was spayed. But we also knew that she'd been living on her own for some time as her teeth are rotting out of her mouth. She's such a good cat and loves to be petted. She's been super good about going to the vet, getting poked and prodded, getting her nails trimmed and taking her liquid de-wormers. Her meow is most endearing. We run a Sanctuary for senior and special needs animals and we do everything we can to make them healthy and comfortable. Most can never be adopted because of advanced age or chronic health or behavioral issues. Spuds deserves the best and any donations are appreciated. We knew nothing about Spudnuts' medical background. Our veterinarian, Dr, Tom Zulandt at Madison Vet Hospital gave Spuds a thorough exam and ran a full set of laboratory tests. Her first tests show high blood glucose, and she has painful dental disease which is causing her teeth to rot. We need to remove the bad teeth, clean the good ones, and monitor her blood glucose levels. We've only had Spudnuts in our Sanctuary for a week, but she's quickly worked her way into our hearts. She greets us with her soft meows and jumps into our arms every chance she gets. Her soft purrs and snuggles make us feel so good. Spuds likes the horses and hounds and loves people. She's so angelic when she sleeps in her little bed. She's good about using her litter box, too.
