Help Lexi Heal After Being Abandoned at Her Most Vulnerable 💔

Lexi was found alone on the road after being abandoned by her former family at the moment she needed them most. A kind passerby couldn’t leave her there and brought her to safety. When Lexi arrived, she was paralyzed, severely malnourished, dehydrated, and in shock—both physically and emotionally. We don’t yet know what caused her paralysis, but it’s clear that this is why she was discarded. Now Lexi is safe with ACF Animal Rescue. She’s currently in our cattery, slowly adjusting to a life that looks nothing like the one she knew before. She’s confused, frightened, and trying to understand how everything changed so suddenly. Beneath her thick fur is a body that is all skin and bone. Her weakness is profound, and right now her care is focused on stabilizing her—rehydration, nutritional support, and carefully chosen supplements to help rebuild her strength. Once Lexi is stronger and ready, we plan to begin gentle physiotherapy. Our goal is to help her body regain as much sensation and mobility as possible, while supporting her comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Now safe in our care, Rosie’s long journey to healing begins. For the first time in her life, Rosie won’t have to fight for warmth, food, or safety. With proper medical care, nourishment, and love, she will recover — and one day soon, she’ll be ready for adoption and a forever home where she will never have to struggle again. Sweet senior kitty Smokey urgently needs our help

Recently rescued from the small island of Moloka‘i, Smokey was rushed to the hospital after suffering a severe neurological seizure and being diagnosed with pneumonia. Her condition was critical, and she needed immediate, intensive care to survive. Veterinarians quickly began a full diagnostic workup to find the cause of her pneumonia and determine whether she could fully recover. She underwent ultrasounds, an echocardiogram, and extensive bloodwork. Thankfully, all of these tests came back normal—confirming that she wasn’t in heart failure. Instead, doctors discovered age-related thickening of her heart wall, which, while considered normal in older cats, is still concerning. Smokey’s road has been incredibly difficult. She spent more than a week in critical care and remains on a feeding tube to prevent refeeding syndrome after going without proper nutrition for several weeks. The good news is that she’s beginning to show interest in food again and is responding well to fluids and antibiotics. Small victories mean everything—but we're not out of the woods yet. Based on her symptoms, veterinarians suspect she may have neurological FIP, and she has now begun treatment for that as well. Her prognosis is hopeful, but the cost of keeping her alive and giving her a chance at a healthy future has quickly grown overwhelming. Smokey has already had weeks of costly, round-the-clock care, and her medical bills continue to climb. She is fighting with everything she has, and her rescuers at RKH are doing the same—with extremely limited resources. Now that she has made it through the most dangerous part of her journey, we’re asking for your support. Any donation, no matter the size, will help give Smokey the chance to thrive for years to come. She has wonderful doctors who make sure she is not in pain. She is simply living her days surrounded by love, exactly as every soul deserves.

Kevin Was Too Scared to Ask for Help… But We Heard Him

Kevin was found in heartbreaking condition, wandering desperately in search of food while suffering from a severe and unexplained injury around his neck. We don’t know how he was hurt or what he endured before we found him — only that he had clearly been suffering for far too long, and no one had stepped forward to help him. When ACF Animal Rescue brought Kevin into safety, it was immediately clear that he was afraid of people. He kept his distance, stayed quiet, and curled into himself as if trying to disappear. Kevin is an introverted, gentle soul who has learned to survive by staying out of sight — and considering the state he was found in, we can’t blame him. But even in his fear, Kevin showed something remarkable: trust. He allowed our team to begin treatment on his painful neck injury. He let us clean his wounds and provide care. And slowly, day by day, his body began to relax in our presence. Kevin still prefers his own space, still moves carefully and cautiously, but he is healing — not just physically, but emotionally. Kevin’s recovery is just beginning, and he will need ongoing medical care, wound treatment, follow-up vet visits, and plenty of time in a stress-free environment to regain his strength and confidence. Help Japon Heal: From Abandoned to Hopeful

Japon is a 2-year-old poodle mix whose life could have ended very differently. He was found near a bus terminal by a compassionate resident who knew he needed help and brought him straight to the hospital. That single act of kindness saved his life. When Japon arrived, he was in rough condition—dangerously thin, covered in fleas, and suffering from a painful abdominal wound. Veterinary exams revealed the true extent of his injuries: Japon had suffered a traumatic impact—likely from a car or another force—that caused his intestines to herniate, a life-threatening condition. Thanks to the incredible generosity of a donor, Japon was able to undergo emergency surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. During that procedure, our medical team discovered a second hernia, requiring an additional surgical correction. Japon is now hospitalized, receiving pain management, close monitoring, and around-the-clock care as he recovers. Because Japon was abandoned, his journey isn’t over yet. He still needs: · A second surgical procedure · Sterilization · Vaccinations and deworming · Continued hospitalization and follow-up care Once healed, Japon will be placed up for adoption so he can finally know safety, stability, and love. Julio came to us just a few weeks ago with his littermates. Julio was diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), a condition that makes him unsteady on his feet. He wobbles, he tumbles, and he gets right back up again. But recently, something terrifying started happening. Julio began having seizures—two in just one week. Even as his tiny body shakes, he still purrs. It’s nothing short of heartbreaking. This brave boy has a long road ahead. He has a vet appointment soon and a neurology consultation scheduled for the 24th. He’ll need a full workup — bloodwork, advanced testing, and medications to help control the seizures. And that’s just the beginning. We’ve already learned that Julio’s medical mystery runs deeper than we thought. At 12 weeks old, while his siblings are strong and healthy at nearly four pounds, Julio weighs just 1.8. He’s a fraction of their size. His symptoms don’t fully match his CH diagnosis. The seizures, the slow weight gain, the setbacks — they tell us there’s something more going on. We’re waiting anxiously for answers, but Julio doesn’t make it easy to relax. Because this morning, he threw us another curveball—a rectal prolapse, which now requires surgery. So here we are again, rallying for our little miracle kitten. When the Stray Animal Foundation of India rescue team found Meenu, she was suffering in a way no animal ever should. A thick metal wire was embedded deep into her neck, cutting through skin and muscle. We don’t know how it happened — whether someone placed it intentionally or if she became trapped — but we do know one thing: Meenu had been in agony for months. Day after day, she carried this wire, unable to escape it, unable to cry out for help in a way anyone could understand. The wound was infected, raw, and dangerously close to becoming life-threatening. Our veterinarians acted immediately. They carefully removed the wire, treated the infected tissue, and began the long process of helping Meenu heal. She is now safe, receiving wound care, antibiotics, pain management, and the gentle rest she has been denied for far too long. But Meenu’s recovery is far from over. Her wound is deep, and she will need continued hospitalization, daily cleaning and dressing changes, medication, and monitoring to prevent further infection. Stabbed in the Head, Still Fighting: Help Save Donti

Donti came to Baw Baw Animal Welfare clinging to life. He had suffered an unimaginable act of violence — a knife had penetrated his skull and entered his brain. By the time he arrived, the damage was catastrophic. The entire left side of his body showed no neurological reflexes. He was unresponsive, fading, and in critical condition. Every second mattered. Even the slightest movement caused Donti extreme pain and distress, so the veterinary team had to carefully sedate him just to safely examine him. In those terrifying first moments, the goal wasn’t only to save his life — it was also to give him comfort, dignity, and the gentlest care possible while fighting for him. Advanced imaging revealed the full severity of his injuries. Skull radiographs showed the knife had penetrated through the cranial bones and directly into the brain tissue itself. This was a life-threatening injury with a guarded to poor prognosis due to the high risk of internal bleeding, secondary brain damage, and infection. Waiting was not an option. Emergency neurosurgery was Donti’s only chance. Surgeons performed an extremely delicate and high-risk procedure to carefully remove the knife, control active bleeding, and stabilize the damaged tissue. Against overwhelming odds, Donti survived the surgery — a miracle in itself. Afterward, he remained hospitalized under intensive, around-the-clock care. His emergent care consisted of constant neurological monitoring, pain management, and close observation for complications such as intracranial hemorrhage, neurological decline, infection, or additional bleeding. But make no mistake: Donti is still fighting — hard. In fact, he's recently reached an important milestone: his forehead wound has made huge progress! This is a powerful sign of resilience and determination after everything his body has endured. However, his journey is far from over. This was — and still is — a severe, life-threatening condition. The knife injury caused significant trauma to Donti’s left eye. He was recently evaluated by a veterinary eye specialist, who prescribed five different eye drops along with additional medications to manage pain, reduce inflammation, and prevent further damage. Donti will return in one week for follow-up scans and further evaluation to determine how his eye is responding and whether additional intervention — possibly surgery — will be required. Despite emergency brain surgery, prolonged hospitalization, and now ongoing specialty care, Donti remains gentle, resilient, and determined. Every day he continues to heal is because of the advanced medical care made possible by compassion and support. Emergency neurosurgery, advanced diagnostics, anesthesia, hospitalization, specialty consultations, medications, and continued follow-up care come at an enormous cost. Molly’s story is heartbreaking, but with your help, it doesn’t have to end in tragedy. This tiny kitten was rescued by a compassionate trapper and cared for on a patio until this past Saturday at 3 AM, when she was viciously attacked by a raccoon. The attack left her with severe puncture wounds and a broken hind leg with exposed bone. By the time Saving Sage Animal Rescue Foundation learned of her condition late Sunday night through Facebook, Molly still had not received any medical treatment. Knowing her life was in immediate danger, we rushed to get her pain medication and into emergency surgery first thing Monday morning. Once examined by our veterinary team, it was clear just how severe her injuries were. Molly had developed a massive infection, and the damage to her leg was so extensive that it required urgent amputation. Despite everything she has endured, Molly continues to fight, and we are committed to giving her every chance at survival. We are keeping Molly in our care so she can receive the extensive, critical treatment she now needs to heal and eventually find her forever home. But we cannot do this alone. 1/13/26 Update We’re incredibly relieved to share that Molly’s recovery has been remarkably smooth. Each day, she’s grown stronger, brighter, and more confident—astonishing everyone with her resilience. Her surgical site has healed cleanly, her fur is growing back soft around her scar, and she’s already moving with ease. This tiny kitten is climbing, playing, and greeting caregivers with gentle head bumps, as if to say thank you. Losing a leg never took away Molly’s spirit. If anything, it revealed just how adaptable and brave she truly is. She’s proving that her story doesn’t end in tragedy—it continues with hope.
