Grandpa

Grandpa was found as a stray hanging around a schoolyard, but he was most likely dumped by his former owner. When the shelter learned that he was positive for heartworms, had a chronic eye condition, rotting teeth, and a host of other problems, they contacted us. He found a ride all the way to our sanctuary and he's been receiving medical treatment and loads of love since his arrival. After finally testing negative 8 months after his last adulticide injection for heartworm, gaining weight and improving his overall condition, Grandpa is now strong enough for surgery to extract his rotting teeth, repair an oral-nasal fistula and to be neutered. Madison Vet Hospital has been instrumental in providing medical care for Grandpa and will preform the surgery. Despite the fact that he's significantly larger than most Coonhounds, Grandpa loves leaning on us and being petted as much as he loves hanging out with his hound friends. He emits a deep, low “roooo” whenever he needs something. He revels in the warmth his blankets provide his frail, aged body. He's in good spirits now and you'd never guess that his body is filled with buckshot. As a registered, nonprofit animal rescue, we specialize in providing lifetime care to senior and medical needs animals and we rely on donations to raise funds to pay for vet bills. Mumford
Mumford is a two-month-old Sphynx kitten in Oklahoma City, OK, who needs $2,000 for urgent care.

* Kanoa Rescue Foundation * Mumford's case is heartbreaking and likely resulted from this rare cat breed being overbred by humans. The Sphynx kitten is only two months old and can barely walk. He crawls on the ground to move. Mumford's situation is dire. The Kanoa Rescue Foundation rushed him to an animal hospital, where his veterinary team discovered critical medical problems that need urgent care. "This little kitten is not growing and developing at the correct rate," Krystal C., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "His legs do not function properly, and it is suspected his hips are not placed correctly. Both issues are likely a result of poor genetics." Then the rescue got more bad news! "It is suspected he has a misplaced bladder, warranting the need for his caretakers to help him express it regularly," Krystal says. "He has a prolapsed rectum causing him discomfort. Both are contributing to dehydration and a very swollen belly. Mumford is also battling an upper respiratory infection that is threatening to turn into pneumonia." Poor Mumford is so young and facing so much. But after multiple tests, the rescue says the kitten may have a fighting chance! Despite his young age and the severity of his condition, there is still hope for Mumford. The rescue is determined to correct his health issues and set him on a path to recovery. However, his medical bills are mounting. Your support is crucial in ensuring Mumford's ongoing veterinary treatment. Please give so Mumford has a chance at survival! Update 8/13 Our handsome little Mumsie is growing up (slowly & at a stunted pace but he’s growing!). He has made so many improvements & is enjoying all the spoils in his foster home. He has been receiving TLC (literally around the clock ). He’s drinking water, eating, going to the litter box more, and his muscles are strengthening. We’re keeping things slow & steady with him, no rush on his development for us. We just want him to be happy & healthy.
Harvey

Harvey Wallbanger hasn’t had it easy. This poor cat was thrown into a yard while inside a crate. Cruel humans tossed him aside like garbage, without any care for his life. Thankfully the kind people that found him were willing to help. Noticing he wasn’t putting weight on his rear leg, they called Mt. Juliet Animal Control for assistance. X-rays showed an old injury to his left hind leg that had healed poorly. Harvey is in constant pain and has a hard time moving. Harvey can’t move without searing agony in his leg. He is on pain medication but, the leg will have to be amputated as soon as possible. Avenue Animal Hospital has Harvey on pain management till his surgery can be scheduled. This sweet fella was all purrs and just wanted pets, but it was clear he was in pain. Since coming to the Shelter, he has wanted nothing more than head pats and chin scratches. As soon as someone opens his door he starts talking and purring, begging for the love he’s been denied. We are a government entity and have a small budget. We way heavily on donations to help offset the cost of major surgeries. Harvey is such a deserving kitty and deserves his happily ever after.

I rescued Jade I found her in a box along side of the road back in July and when I opened the box she was the only kitten in the box she was only 6 weeks old and I took jade home and got her bathed cause she was infested with fleas and one of her eyes was bulging out and had yellow drainage coming out from it I got it all cleaned up and put some medicine on it Jade will have to have eye removal surgery asap due to her being only 6 weeks old and she was not at the right weight at the time of the vet visit we had to wait to have the surgery done and jade is now at the weight needed for the surgery the name of the vet is Anicira. Jade has become part of our family since the day we found her and even with her eye she still plays with my other cats and jade is such a lovable little girl she is always purring and she sleeps with me and my husband and my other cats we would be so lost if something would happen to jade cause we love her just as much as our other cats. I am disabled and with limited income I just don’t have the funds for her surgery and it would mean so much to me and my family to help jade get her eye surgery and to be spayed so she can live a healthy and happy life with us and our other cats we fell in love with jade

Junior is a rescue. I've had him since he was 4-5 weeks old. He's the only pet I have. We had a house fire in 2018, which has caused PTSD. Not diagnosed officially but he's never been the same. We've had to move several times since, which wasn't easy on him. He gained weight due to cramped living space and my inability to play as before. Became my Therapy Pet in 2013. Saved my life twice! He had originally had allergic reactions to shellfish. Eyes watering, sneezing and/or vomiting. This started happening with all foods and worse symptoms. Pulling hair out due to itching. 2022 was diagnosed with a protein allergy. Venison is the last protein available and now he's starting to react to it. Now he needs vaccinations and, I'm sure, prescription food thats expensive. Junior is so unique. He's so human at times! He actually saved my life twice. Once, I was suicidal when I could no longer work. Twice, he alerted me when the house caught fire. He has PTSD from that fire. He is adored by all who meet him & will have full conversations with you. He's so sweet, but if he wants something and you don't comply.... He can be quite demanding. LOL He's so awesome! Disability income is so small and these prescription foods & vaccinations are so expensive. I, unfortunately need help. 4 spinal fusions have left me with a permanently broken sacrum with loose hardware above that messes with nerves, unable to work & permanently disabled.

Hi I adopted Romeo from a shelter in September 2016 he was 9 weeks old when I got him.Hes my only pet and I love him very much he's my baby. Romeo lives with me and my daughter in a apartment we have been here for 5 years. Romeo has been having ear issues he's been on antibiotics on and off and his ear issues always end up coming back he shakes his head a lot and he's always itching at his ears and he recently started to sneeze his vet I'd Robert's & Wendt animal hospital I'm lakewood on west 117th I chose this vet because I don't have a car and it's only a 10 minute walk from me Romeo is very special to me and my daughter we both love him a lot. Romeo loves to snuggle with us he loves treats and he loves to look out the window at others cats and birds I'm on a very tight budget I can't work due to my medical issues so I get ssi after paying my bills and with school coming up I have a lot going on. It breaks my heart seeing Romeo always shaking his head and sneezing I have a vet appointment August 29th at 1:00

* New Life Cat Rescue * Artie was found unable to walk and dragging his back legs, crying for help. New Life Cat Rescue was contacted by a bystander who knew this poor thing needed immediate help. Knowing something was seriously wrong, New Life Cat Rescue rushed him to the vet. They discovered he had a massive urinary blockage and crystals in his bladder. The vet pulled 300ml of urine out and was shocked his bladder hadn't ruptured. Despite being in immense pain, Artie's disposition remained loving and sweet throughout everything. He was even showing off his biscuit making skills while getting a catheter!! Artie is scheduled for additional diagnostics such as x-rays and bloodwork and has a long journey ahead to a full recovery. He is doing great at his underwater treadmill therapy and his mobility is getting better every day. Artie even startled his foster mom by jumping onto a cat tree! He is getting stronger every day and no longer needs weekly appointments but has now graduated to chiropractic adjustments every 3 weeks.

The day Rock’Z and I met, she jumped out of the back of the foster families ram charger ran two houses down the block up the walkway and jumped into my arms. I had been sitting on the front steps waiting. She put one arm over my right shoulder and the other arm over my left and in a full hug, and I knew that she had been sent from above. I adopted her immediately at 5 months old. A few days ago I noticed Smokey white discoloration in the black pupil areas of her eyes. I consulted with a virtual vet through Petcube, the emergency insurance coverage I have for Rock’Z. They recommend an eye exam, although since it’s not an emergency it’s not covered. I found a low cost clinic in Richfield, Valuecare. Appointment 9/3/24 10:30am Rock’Z and I spent her first two years in training to be my service animal. I could not leave the house before she was trained to help keep me safe. We go to therapy, grocery shopping, the gym and dog parks. I am able to meet friends for coffee now because Rock’Z is with me. That is why I spell her name Rock’Z because she is my rock. I am disabled and on a fixed Social Security income. I do have insurance on Rock’Z yet they do not cover eye exams. I need to know how I can best care for the girl who has given me a life for the past 10 years.
Jones
Jones is a 8 year old Mix-Breed in Baltimore, MD, who needs $2,000 for Diabetic Ketoacidosis Hospitalization.

Jones was born in a litter of feral kittens in the suburbs of Washington DC. I adopted him from a friend after the local animal shelter refused to take the kittens in (they elected to trap-neuter-release them instead, which is where he got his ear tip from). He has lived in Baltimore with me his entire life, 8 years as of September 2024. In Oct 2023 Jones was diagnosed w/ diabetes & spent a night at the Veterinary Emergency Group in Elkridge MD. He was doing well until May 2024 when he went into diabetic ketoacidosis for the first time & spent a few nights at VEG. He went into DKA again a month later & was diagnosed with irritable bowel disease / small cell lymphoma. In August, he went into DKA a third time & is now hospitalized. Jones is an extremely sweet and loving cat. He has been very shy since he was a kitten, but once he warms up he is very affectionate. He is very closely bonded with me and has been a constant comfort through college, multiple jobs and relationships, and life hardships. He is a star biscuit-maker and has the loudest purrs I've ever heard! He loves kneading blankets and waking me up with purrs. This is Jones' fourth time in the hospital in a year, and my spouse and I have absolutely exhausted all our savings trying to keep him well. He is a huge part of my heart, and I would be absolutely broken to lose him at the young age of 8 years.
