This Tiny Kitten Has a Serious Heart Murmur

Mia was rescued from the streets after struggling to survive alone outdoors. Despite everything she endured, she is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and full of life. But shortly after being rescued, veterinarians discovered something deeply concerning — Mia has a high-grade heart murmur. Because of the severity of the murmur, Mia urgently needs specialized veterinary care, including an echocardiogram and advanced diagnostics to determine exactly what is wrong with her tiny heart and what treatment she may need moving forward. Right now, there are still many unknowns. The echocardiogram will allow specialists to evaluate whether Mia was born with a congenital heart defect or if another serious cardiac condition is threatening her life. Without these critical diagnostics, veterinarians cannot properly diagnose or treat her condition. For such a tiny kitten, every moment matters. Despite her difficult start, Mia continues to purr, cuddle, and trust the people trying to save her. She deserves the chance to grow up safe, healthy, and loved — something she never had while struggling on the streets. Unfortunately, specialized cardiac testing and veterinary care are extremely expensive, and we urgently need help covering the cost of Mia’s echocardiogram and medical treatment. A Desperate Call Saved Shila—Now She Needs You

Sometimes, all it takes is one phone call to change a life. While at her full-time job, the founder of Appalachian Feline Foster Network received an urgent call from a concerned property owner. They had discovered a tiny kitten lying on the ground, barely responsive and fighting to survive. They offered her a little water, which seemed to perk her up just enough, but it was clear she needed emergency veterinary care immediately. Without hesitation, our founder left work, rushed to pick up the kitten, and drove straight to the veterinarian. Now named Shila, this precious baby weighs only one pound. At just a few weeks old, she is incredibly fragile and has already endured more than any kitten should. At the veterinary clinic, Shila received a comprehensive examination to determine why she was so weak. She underwent fecal and parvovirus testing to rule out life-threatening illnesses, received deworming medication to treat intestinal parasites, and was started on antibiotics to combat infection. She was also given parasite prevention, specialized critical care nutrition to help her regain strength, and supportive care to stabilize her fragile condition. Every one of these treatments gives Shila a better chance at growing into the healthy, playful kitten she was always meant to be. Shila's medical bill is $233, and Appalachian Feline Foster Network is asking for your help. As a foster-based rescue, every unexpected emergency stretches our limited resources, but we never want finances to determine whether a kitten receives lifesaving care. Today, Shila is safe. Momma cat was trying to protect her babies, but the kittens were already showing signs of illness, with their tiny eyes crusted shut from infection. Thankfully, they were rescued by Heavenlee's Rescue in Rhode Island and rushed to the animal hospital, where they received the medical care they desperately needed. They are now on medication and beginning their journey toward recovery, but their veterinary care is far from over. To give these kittens the healthy future they deserve, they still need vaccines, spay/neuter, and continued veterinary care. For more than a week, Aura wandered the streets of Jamaica alone. Terrified of people and desperately trying to survive, this sweet stray was so fearful that no one could get close enough to help her. Day after day, she remained just out of reach, suffering in silence as her skin condition worsened. Finally, after being spotted for over a week, she wandered into an outdoor storage cabinet. It was the break everyone had been hoping for. Rescuers acted quickly and safely transferred her into a crate, ending her days of running and hiding. Now she is finally safe. As we begin the process of triaging her medical needs, we already know she is suffering from severe demodectic mange. Her skin is inflamed, painful, and in desperate need of treatment. We don't have all the answers yet, and we don't have invoices in hand, but we know her road to recovery will require extensive veterinary care, medications, diagnostics, and ongoing support. For the first time in a long time, she doesn't have to worry about where she'll sleep or whether she'll survive another day. Now it's our turn to help her heal. We are asking for donations to help cover her upcoming medical expenses. CAMO Rescue was recently contacted by a fellow rescue about a tiny Cairn Terrier who unexpectedly came into their care with an apparent injury. This sweet little girl—estimated to be just three months old—may have damage to her knee. While she is still able to walk and even run around, the vet believes there is an underlying issue that needs further evaluation to ensure it doesn’t worsen as she grows. At such a young age, early intervention is critical. CAMO Rescue has stepped in to make sure she receives the diagnostics and medical attention needed to fully understand what’s going on with her knee—and to rule out any additional concerns. This precious puppy, now lovingly nicknamed Piglet, deserves the chance to grow up strong, comfortable, and pain-free. We are asking for help to cover the cost of her veterinary care. Oakley has been a cherished member of our family since we brought him home as a puppy. He is a 5-year-old Red Merle Australian Shepherd who has grown up surrounded by love and has always been an important part of our household. Oakley is an inside dog and spends his days with our family, where he is treated as more than just a pet—he is truly family. Oakley is suspected with Addison’s disease, a lifelong condition that requires ongoing medical care, including monthly injections, daily medication, routine blood work, and regular veterinary visits. North Davidson Veterinary Hospital in Lexington, North Carolina. He has a gentle personality and always wants to be close to the people he loves. If there is water anywhere—a puddle, creek, lake, sprinkler, or hose—you can count on Oakley finding it. He absolutely loves the water and will happily play in it every chance he gets. Winter is his favorite season because he is obsessed with the snow. Oakley is also the biggest cuddle bug. I am a single mother raising my child on my own, and after losing my mother in December, my life was turned upside down. The grief was overwhelming, and I struggled to cope while trying to maintain my job. Having Oakley healthy again would mean everything to our family.

I rescued Gizmo & his brother Rocky at 2 wks old, bottle fed & they're 12 yrs old now. They are my precious sons & we are bonded heart & soul & inseparable! My brother I live with has 2 senior dogs & 2 senior cats, all rescues. My brother is understanding chemo & radiation for colorectal cancer currently. I'll be 67 next month on a fixed income, but my babies come 1st no matter what. ♥️♥️ Gizmo & brother have developed a miserable rash that they need to be seen by Dr. Rankin asap. They are indoor kitties & ice kept Advantage Multi in them since my brother's furbabies occasionally go outdoors. Fleas apparently became resistant, & needing Cheristin for Gizmo & visit Dr. Rankin for additional relief for miserable rash. Praying for relief 🙏 My precious Gizmo & brother Rocky & I are bonded for life, heart & soul! They always want Mommy in their sight & talk to me & lots of cuddles & kisses. I cook chicken breast & salmon for them, their favorites. They love Temptation treats & dehydrated chicken treats. Gizmo actually says "Mom" & Rocky says "Ma Ma". They're super intelligent & love our play time.♥️♥️ Gizmo & his brother Rocky aren't feeling their usual self with the miserable rash they have. I'm desperate to get relief for them at Dr. Rankin's. I also have a wishlist on Amazon for Cheristin flea meds & Bona hypoallergenic multi surface cleaner for cats due to allergies

Ethan Was Hit by a Car and Left Suffering Under a Food Truck

Ethan was suffering alone in unimaginable pain when someone finally noticed him dragging himself beneath a food truck after being hit by a car. Terrified, injured, and desperate for safety, he crawled underneath searching for scraps of food and a place to hide. Instead of compassion, the food truck owner tried to push him back out with a broom while this broken little cat struggled just to survive. Thankfully, someone stepped in before it was too late. We rushed Ethan straight to the emergency veterinary hospital, where the extent of his injuries became heartbreakingly clear. Ethan has multiple broken bones in his legs, making it impossible for him to walk normally, and he is also suffering from a traumatic hernia caused by the accident. The hernia is so severe that it is pressing against his organs and making it difficult for him to breathe comfortably. Right now, Ethan is being closely monitored in the ICU as veterinarians work to stabilize him. One of the biggest concerns is his dangerously low body temperature. His hypothermia must be corrected before he can safely undergo the lifesaving surgeries he desperately needs. Once stable enough, Ethan will require: • Emergency surgery to repair his traumatic hernia • Orthopedic care for his multiple broken bones • ICU hospitalization and continuous monitoring • Pain management and supportive care • Ongoing diagnostics, medications, and recovery treatment Despite everything he has endured, Ethan is still fighting. Beneath the fear and pain is a cat who simply wanted help, warmth, and kindness. We are committed to giving Ethan every possible chance to survive and heal, but his emergency care will be extensive and costly. He is also tolerating his treatments well and remains under close veterinary supervision as his medical team carefully monitors his progress and determines the next steps in his recovery journey. While Ethan still has a long road ahead, every small victory feels enormous. A cat who was once hiding beneath a food truck, terrified and gravely injured, is now receiving the care, warmth, and compassion he desperately needed. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has donated, shared Ethan's story, and kept him in their thoughts. Your support has given him a chance to keep fighting. He still needs ongoing care as he heals from his injuries, including follow-up appointments, medications, restricted activity, and close monitoring to ensure his bones and surgical site continue to heal properly. For the first time since his rescue, Ethan can recover in a safe, quiet environment surrounded by warmth, comfort, and people who are committed to helping him heal. As Ethan continues his road to recovery, donations are still greatly appreciated to help cover the cost of his surgery, hospitalization, medications, follow-up care, and rehabilitation. 7/11/26 Update We are happy to share that Ethan continues to make progress on his recovery journey. After surviving a devastating accident, undergoing lifesaving surgery, and overcoming so many obstacles, Ethan is now focused on healing. While he is still recovering from an upper respiratory infection (URI) and a mycoplasma infection, he is receiving exceptional care every step of the way. Ethan is currently being looked after by a dedicated veterinary nurse at the shelter who is providing him with around-the-clock care to ensure he receives his medications, supportive treatments, proper nutrition, and plenty of love while his body continues to recover. Having someone monitoring him 24/7 gives him the very best chance at making a full recovery. Looking back, it's incredible to see how far Ethan has come. The frightened cat who dragged himself beneath a food truck with multiple broken bones and a life-threatening hernia is now safe, comfortable, and surrounded by people who are committed to helping him heal.
